Twilight Redefines Chick Flick

Good news for the New Moon movie–Sandy Cohen from the AP reports that Twilight has totally redefined the expectations of a chick flick–

“The word ‘chick flick’ is going to have to be replaced by big box-office girl-power flick,” he said. “The box-office clout of the female audience is just astounding, and it’s been an underserved audience for way too long. … They have no trouble finding money for the things they’re passionate about.”

Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary defines chick flick as “a motion picture intended to appeal especially to women.” But “Twilight” is no lightweight date movie — instead, it’s a real-girl’s chick flick, where a normal-looking teenager finds romance with a modern (if undead) Prince Charming.

“It’s the most insanely romantic film since ‘The Notebook,’” said Harry Medved, a spokesman for Fandango.com, who described Pattinson’s Edward Cullen as “the ideal boyfriend. … He’s incredibly strong, superfast, impossibly handsome, he plays the piano and all he cares about is what’s on her mind.”

    saw it with me and thought it was pretty good, it had great action and the love story was very
    real. That very real want it but can't have it. Chick flick covers gushy stupid story lines. This definately was more than just a chick flick.

    Its not a chick flick pursue but a lot of people think it. Me I don't think its a chick flick because there are guys stuff in it. There is action, love, and others. So no it's not a chick flick like everyone says it is.

    haha yes i absolutely adore Jasper... he's the only one that appealed to me in the book series. I am fans of edward, emmett, seth, and jacob but Jaspers number one all the way!!! I do like good literature...only Vampyre, Witches, and others like those type of literatures (genre).

    Its not a chick flick pursue but a lot of people think it. Me I don't think its a chick flick because there are guys stuff in it. There is action, love, and others. So no it's not a chick flick like everyone says it is.

    I think that it kind of does. usually chick flicks are about normal people not super human/immortal ones. But it has that same story line as all the other ones. "Forbidden Love". Something that you cant want and cant have. I think that it has changed chick flicks into something more adventurous or more how do i say it, entertaining!
