Save Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black Petition

So…..we’re not taking sides here, but it’s hard to ignore the huge outpour of support for Twilight star Taylor Lautner. Fans are demanding he remains cast as Jacob Black in New Moon, despite sources indicating that Summit is looking into casting someone else such as Michael Copon.

Well, we thought we’d make it a bit more official with the NewMoonMovie.org Taylor Lautner Petition. This joins other ones we’ve seen, which have gathered in the thousands of signatures. There’s also a Facebook group and blog to show your support and coordinate too.

So, if you’re for Jacob Black’s role remaining in the hands of Taylor Lautner, be sure to sign the petition–

Sherlock Holmes, Three Stooges and Planet 51 Will Also Be Released on the same day as the New Moon Movie Now that the November 20th, 2009 release date for New Moon is official, we’ve learned there will be three other high-profile movies released on the same date, giving New Moon some hefty competition. The date is exactly a year from the release of Twilight.

“Same time, same place,” Summit distribution boss Richie Fay said. “If it’s also the same gross, we’ll be very pleased. Hopefully, we’ll have even better results.”

Three other films are also set to bow over the Nov. 20 frame — a particularly choice date as it precedes the Nov. 26 Thanksgiving holiday and thus affords strong openers an almost guaranteed solid second session. Those include Warner Bros.’ Guy Ritchie-helmed “Sherlock Holmes,” starring Robert Downey and Jude Law; Sony’s animated feature “Planet 51,” featuring a voice cast topped by Dwayne Johnson, Seann William Scott and Jessica Biel; and MGM’s untitled Three Stooges project, which the Farrelly brothers are directing.
