Jacob Black Poll - Taylor Lautner, Michael Copon, Steven Strait

Well, it’s been a seven days and it’s time to announce this week’s results–the poll we started on December 12th as to who should play Jacob Black in New Moon has received a whopping 6010 votes, and what do you guys say? Taylor, Taylor, Taylor!

Taylor is way in the lead, taking more than half the vote with a huge 3133 votes. Michael Copon and Steven Strait split the rest of the votes with 22% and 25% respectively.

There’s still time to vote, and we’ll leave the poll open if you want to add your say. We’ll be sending the results of this poll with the petition, as well!

On a side note, our Team Edward or Team Jacob Poll shows that Edward is the big winner with a landslide of 87% and Jacob receiving only 228 votes, or 13%.

Another way of looking at it–if only 13% prefer Jacob, and 52% want Taylor…..then only about 7% of fans are truly dedicated to Taylor Lautner.

New Moon Director Chris Weitz

Patrick Goldstein from the LA Times examines what the recent letter to fans from New Moon director Chris Weitz really means.

What he said: “In the past few days I have been involved in a whirlwind romance with Stephenie Meyer’s extraordinary books.”

What it means: “It’s amazing how fast Amazon can rush an overnight shipment of books to your house.”

What he said: “Like many of you, I am a fan of Catherine Hardwicke’s work. I can’t really say much about why she is not doing ‘New Moon’ because I wasn’t involved in those decisions.”

What it means: “Don’t blame me for her getting the ax. It was those guys over there who fired her.”

What he said: “To those who doubt that as a male director I can capture Bella’s experience, I can only say that emotion is universal. . . .”

What it means: “It’s not like they hired Michael Bay, OK?”

Underworld Rise of the Lycans Poster

Wolfman 2009 Poster

…Or is it werewolves are the new zombies? Whichever it is, 2009 is going to be a big year for high-profile werewolf movies. Besides New Moon, we’ll also be seeing:

Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans (January 2009): This is the third movie in the popular Underworld series, but Kate Beckinsdale won’t be back, and the guy who did the special effects for the last two films is directing this one.

Wolfman ( November 6, 2009): Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins star in Wolfman, which is a remake of the 1941 movie of the same name. It’s being directed by Joe Johnston, who also directed Jumanji and Jurassic Park III.

So what do you think–will this be the year of the wolf? Wolfman is coming out just two weeks before New Moon, although it was originally supposed to come out in April. I wonder if they pushed it back to get some of the werewolf buzz from New Moon to rub off on it?

If you’re not convinced Taylor Lautner is quickly growing into his potential role as Jacob Black, this pictures just might do the trick. Here are seven pictures of Lautner that were taken over the last year and a half or so that really show just how much he has grown. Not only does he look bigger, he is looking less baby-faced and more mature as well.

Hopefully we’ll know soon if Taylor Lautner is going to play Jacob Black or not. His big lunch with Chris Weitz is less than a day away!
