Bella a Popular Baby Name Because of Twilight

Twilight Vampire Baby The popularity of Twilight is showing up in unexpected places–like the names of new babies! Bella, or Isabella, rose significantly this year, from #5 to #2–

On the girls’ side, conservative, traditional names are gaining momentum. The name Isabella rose from #5 to #2, which BabyNames.com founder Jennifer Moss attributes to the popularity of the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer.

“Twilight’s heroine is named Isabella Swan, but she goes by Bella,” says Moss. “Both Isabella and Bella rose significantly on the girls’ chart, which shows that beloved characters can have just as much an influence on baby names as celebrities.”

    Oddly, and I hadn't heard/seen of Kristen Stewart, and considering Bella Swan hadn't existed yet, I'm a total Twilight addict and my daughters are named Kristen and Bella. It's kind-of ironic, in a way.

    That is sooooo weird and kind of cool.!!

    I love Edward and Bella to death but I dont know if I could go as far as naming my kids after them. To me it would feel kind of weird. But whatever people want to do with their kids are fine by me!

    I always thought it was kind of a weird name, Bella/Isabella, to name a character it didnt really flow that easy for me at first in the books. But near the end of the book series it started to grow on me.

    I saw the movie and I've read all four books.


    The movie makers cannot take out Taylor Lautner as Jacob. Jacob is as important as Bella or Edward. Girls love him too. Taylor is perfect for that role.



    I also believe that changing the director will be negative for the outcome of the movie. At worst, they could work together on the movie to make it better and a better sequel.



    I don't believe the actor selected to replace Taylor in the second film will be an asset.



    We want Taylor Lautner as our Jacob in the second movie New Moon as well in the other movies to come!!!!!!

    I also love the name Bella. But not because of Twilight. I used to watch a lot of disney movies and my favorite character was Belle. Ever since that I named by dolls Belle, Bella, Isabella (etc) lol. Yeah.. I was crazy as a kid xD.

    I had never heard of the twilight books until i saw the movie, and i had never seen the trailer for the movie either before i saw it, it surprised me that the characters name was Bella bc my name is Bella,so I could just sit back and hear Edward saying my name all the time! Wowawiwa ;D
    And it used to be a pretty unusual name before...but i guess not anymore...gah boring... :P
