I'm not trying to be mean, since I just finished twilight (Haven't started New Moon yet) but I think that the actor who played Jacob in Twilight, Brought a lot more to the character then the book did in some ways. SO i don't know everything yet but :)

Only because in the book, Jacob did for the most part, smile and flirt with bella. Not really add an extra.. Umph to the book. So I think the actor who played Jacob did a really good job of it, and also seemed to look the part very nicely. :)

The point is, yes there IS growth that needs to happen from Twilight to New Moon. I don't quite understand how he thinks Taylor should have portrayed Jacob.. It wouldn't have made ANY sense if Taylor played a Jacob who was madly in love with Bella and understood everything about her.. His feelings are supposed to grow. The whole point of New Moon is Jacob becoming a part of Bella's life and understanding her more and becoming her best friend. Taylor knows Jacob Black from the inside out and nothing is going to stophim from reaching his goal on carrying jacob's character throughout the movies. The point is, yes there IS growth that needs to happen from Twilight to New Moon. I don't quite understand how he thinks Taylor should have portrayed Jacob.. I'm sure he would eventually just tick off the entire cast of the movie, resulting in bad acting, resulting in a horrible movie nobody wants to see. Things can be done to make sure Jacob's look is okay in the movie, they could use graphics or whatever. But they don't want to, because it costs money. But New Moon would bring in more money than it took them to make the movie, plus they have all the money from Twilight, which is more than enough to pay for new Moon, and they haven't even released it in all the countries, yet. Michaela says there is more than "one color" of Jacob black in the movie, but if he actually READ IT, he would notice that there isn't much of Jacob in it, anyways. And if he read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, what DOESN'T make us think he's too lazy to play the part since he's apparently too lazy to read the books? Since he only read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, he shouldn't be acting like he's the best person out there that can play Jacob. Everybody, fans, actors, directors, they learn Jacob's personality through those two books. You cant read a 500 page book with a character that has about maybe 20 pages and a few "cliff notes" and then say you know that character, unless those 20 pages gives a full biography. I don't think someone as COCKY as Michael should play the part of ANY character. I'm sure he would eventually just tick off the entire cast of the movie, resulting in bad acting, resulting in a horrible movie nobody wants to see. Things can be done to make sure Jacob's look is okay in the movie, they could use graphics or whatever. But they don't want to, because it costs money. But New Moon would bring in more money than it took them to make the movie, plus they have all the money from Twilight, which is more than enough to pay for new Moon, and they haven't even released it in all the countries, yet. Michaela says there is more than "one color" of Jacob black in the movie, but if he actually READ IT, he would notice that there isn't much of Jacob in it, anyways. And if he read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, what DOESN'T make us think he's too lazy to play the part since he's apparently too lazy to read the books? Since he only read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, he shouldn't be acting like he's the best person out there that can play Jacob. Everybody, fans, actors, directors, they learn Jacob's personality through those two books. You cant read a 500 page book with a character that has about maybe 20 pages and a few "cliff notes" and then say you know that character, unless those 20 pages gives a full biography. And, I remember watching "The Scorpion King 2", and Michael's character had a girl following him around, and he didn't want her to go with him. Jacob has Bella come to him first, but he wants her to come back. Then, he has a secret he cant tell her and stays away from her for her own good. I barely see any similarity in those two stories, and I'm sure the other people who have commented on this topic agree with me on everything I've said. I'm sure, if he's this cocky and he's trying to attract attention to his movies, like when he named his movie like that, he might have been trying to attract attention. Who says he isn't going to do the same thing with Twilight?

1. in twilight, all jacob is is a happy go lucky kid with a huge crush on bella. taylor played the part right in twilight, because jacob doesn't have a huge part in that one. the different hues of jacob don't come out until new moon, and i have complete confidence that taylor can play those.
2. anyone heard of movie magic? they can make taylor seem taller. Besides, he's been working out since he got casted for twilight just to be big enough for new moon. he's dedicated. he's put on 19 pounds of muscle just for the role. and besides, he needs to grow DURING the movie, and just can't be the full height at the beginning, it would make no sense.

3. he. dabbled. through. cliff. notes. grrrrrrrr...you can't understand jacob's personality by drabbling through cliff notes! This may seem unimportant, but there's a lot of devoted fans out there (like me) who are in love with this series, and this character, and want it portrayed right. Michael just doesn't seem to understand jacob. I'm sorry, and not trying to be really offensive, that's just how I see it.

For most of Twilight, all Jacob really does is smile at Bella. In the final prom scene, during the Jacob/Edward confrontation, I think we see a much more mature side of Jake. However, it isn't until New Moon that we actually get to see a different side of him. Changing an actor in the middle of a series is a terrible idea ... Please, please listen to the fans!

Oh yes please let's get an ex power ranger (he was the blue ranger apparently) to play Jacob. And why was he in the Scorpion King 2, maybe because it might have sucked and The Rock did not want to be in it. He is an idea, hey Michael, get a grown up role for once! Leave Taylor alone, he is the only Jacob we want.

This guy is cocky and obnoxious. If he replaces Taylor, who did a great job as Jacob, then I probably will not see New Moon. Whoever this jerk is, he clearly hasn't read the books because Jacob starts out as a relatively low-key character, without much face time at all, it isn't until New Moon where he really begins to shine! And, personally, Taylors just too darn cute to get rid of. And as far as his stature, movie magic can do anything these days, I'm sure they can add a few inches and pounds if they need to, after all, Lord of the Rings made tiny hobbits out of regular sized men. I hope that Taylor stays on for the entire series. Plus, switching actors makes the characters seem less believable. i've ranted enough, but, seriously, whoever this Copon character is, he should just go ahead and do CSI: Miami and leave the REAL actors, like Taylor, to keep doing QUALITY productions, like New Moon. And also, Scorpion King 2 sucked. Just saying.

As an actress myself, you NEVER, never trash another actor's work - it doesn't matter how "nice" he tried to put it, he completely trashed Taylor and his portrayal of Jacob.



Additionally, he may want to try a different strategy.



Take notes, Copon, this is important:



When you are trying to get a gig, especially if you're trying to do it with a studio that hopefully KNOWS how influencial their fanbase is (and most definetly if it's a fan base like the one 'Twilight' has), you might want to...I don't know...try humility.



By posting his status on Facebook as 'the new Jacob Black' and by saying things like that about the actor that has ALREADY shown that he has what it takes to carry Jacob Black's character, you're not going to get very far with the fans...



And they drive this franchise. I hope Summitt figured that much out.



Read the books. Not the Cliff Notes. Get in good with the fans. Don't trash talk your peers. Simple advice that - if Summitt doesn't completely lose their mind and DON'T rehire Taylor Lautner - might just get you the job.

Naturally, I'm on Team Edward, but, out of Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner, I'd definitely go with Lautner. He did an excellent job with the small role he had in Twilight, and, I didn't get a very positive first impression of Michael from this interview. To me he sounded like a very arrogant jerk who was obviously ignorant towards the saga. I don't want someone to act as a character if they have only a little clue of what goes on.

For most of Twilight, all Jacob really does is smile at Bella. In the final prom scene, during the Jacob/Edward confrontation, I think we see a much more mature side of Jake. However, it isn't until New Moon that we actually get to see a different side of him. Changing an actor in the middle of a series is a terrible idea ... Please, please listen to the fans!

Naturally, I'm on Team Edward, but, out of Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner, I'd definitely go with Lautner. He did an excellent job with the small role he had in Twilight, and, I didn't get a very positive first impression of Michael from this interview. Oh this makes me really mad, I was not a Taylor fan at first but after seeing his portrayal I was surprised by how much I enjoyed watching him, he has great chemistry with kristen and he can act. This would ruin New Moon for me , and Jacob is one of my favourite characters, and I don't want him being portrayed by some guy who doesnt care about the series and just fame. This is the kind of guy Kristen was trying to avoid casting when picking Edward. She said Rob was the only one who did something else besides look handsome and had something going on in his head, This guy wont. Dear Summit,
I don't think someone as COCKY as Michael should play the part of ANY character. I'm sure he would eventually just tick off the entire cast of the movie, resulting in bad acting, resulting in a horrible movie nobody wants to see. Things can be done to make sure Jacob's look is okay in the movie, they could use graphics or whatever. But they don't want to, because it costs money. But New Moon would bring in more money than it took them to make the movie, plus they have all the money from Twilight, which is more than enough to pay for new Moon, and they haven't even released it in all the countries, yet. Michael says there is more than "one color" of Jacob black in the movie, but if he actually READ IT, he would notice that there isn't much of Jacob in it, anyway's. And if he read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, what DOESN'T make us think he's too lazy to play the part since he's apparently too lazy to read the books? Since he only read "cliff notes" of New Moon and Eclipse, he shouldn't be acting like he's the best person out there that can play Jacob. Everybody, fans, actors, directors, they learn Jacob's personality through those two books. You cant read a 500 page book with a character that has about maybe 20 pages and a few "cliff notes" and then say you know that character, unless those 20 pages gives a full biography. And, I remember watching "The Scorpion King 2", and Michael's character had a girl following him around, and he didn't want her to go with him. Jacob has Bella come to him first, but he wants her to come back. Then, he has a secret he cant tell her and stays away from her for her own good. I barely see any similarity in those two stories, and I'm sure the other people who have commented on this topic agree with me on everything I've said. I'm sure, if he's this cocky and he's trying to attract attention to his movies, like when he named his movie like that, he might have been trying to attract attention. Who says he isn't going to do the same thing with Twilight? And Summit, I swea r you'll have to face some VERY angry guys if you cast this idiot. DON'T GIVE UP TAYLOR! We love you!
