Taylor Lautner with Stars HUGE news for Taylor Lautner supporters! He was just interviewed and he insists that reports he won’t be on New Moon are greatly exaggerated. In fact, he’s going to meet Chris Weitz for lunch on Friday to speak about his role. Will he get bad news or good news from Weitz? I have a feeling Friday might just be the big decision. Speaking to MTV News, he says-

“I’ve heard a few things,” he said of Copon. “I don’t really know too much to comment on it. As far as I know, I haven’t been told ‘no’ yet, so it’s still all up in the air.”

“I have been working out. I’ve been working out since the day we finished filming ‘Twilight.’ I just weighed myself today; I’ve put on 19 pounds,” the noticeably larger Lautner told us, promising that he’ll be big enough to fit Stephenie Meyer’s physical description of Jacob Black in “New Moon” when cameras begin rolling in 12 weeks. “I’m guaranteeing Weitz 10 more [pounds] by filming.”  

So if all this is true, and it’s he’s meeting with Chris Weitz tomorrow, why the mysterious omission of Lautner’s name in the recent press release from Summit? The Jacob Black hopeful says that-

“I think it’s because, well, Rob and Kristen were the lead roles in ‘Twilight,’ so they’ve got to be back,” he reasoned. “I don’t even know if they’re officially signed; maybe they are, I don’t know. They just hired Weitz, and now they’re just moving down the cast. All I can say is, I’m going to be ready if my number’s called.”

He also says that the claims he was being CGI’d by the makers of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to see if special effects could make him look more buff in order to play the older and bigger looking Jacob Black are off-base.

Nothing [along those lines] has happened, and I don’t know if it will,” he told us. “I think there’s a lot of things that have gotten blown up that haven’t really occurred. That hasn’t happened. I’ve just been working out for awhile, and I’m ready.”

He finishes with a pretty strong signal that he will stay on as Jacob Black in New Moon–

“My job for ‘Twilight’ was to bring ‘Twilight’ Jacob to life — the friendly, happy-go-lucky little Jacob,” Lautner explained, looking forward to the Friday lunch that will shape the future of his career. “And my job for ‘New Moon’ is completely different; I’ve been looking forward to that. I’ve been getting ready for it, and I can assure them that I will follow through with that job.”

    No Taylor no way will I go see it, and no $ for Summit ! I would not, at least one that I would pay for. You Tube it whenever someone uploads it, and see it just like I saw the whole Golden Compass movie on You Tube. I would skip to the parts I want to see. The beginning b-day scene and the volturi scenes. If it's not Taylor I wouldn't want to ruin my images of Taylor as I see it whenever I read the books which I am reading now 4 the 4th time. The books are better than the movies anyhow, since movies can't be so detailed.

    Think about it this way, at the beginning of New Moon, Jacob is the "same" so it makes sense for the same actor to play him however, (spoiler), when Jacob get's sick, he begins to change. Bella even makes the comment everytime she see's him. It makes sense to have a different actor to take over at that spot. I'm just interested to see the director's vision. I'm a big fan of the movie Twilight. I thought it was well done. I'll be at the midnight showing of New Moon as well!

    PLEASE don't get me wrong Taylor is a doll and was an AWESOME JB in Twilight...but I am a HUGE fan of the novels...and a HUGE fan of the movie Twilight and what I want is the rest of the movies to be friggin AMAZING. So for me...and many of my friends it really comes down to what is best for the film,,,and what is best for the film will be determined by Summitt...and we owe them the support and respect they deserve. If we get a new JB it is soooo for the best! Taylor will be just fine...we will see more of him I'm sure!

    When it comes down to it if Chris doesn't think that Taylor can take on the role then he will do what is best for the film! Personally and I think many of you are kidding yourselves...Jacob needs to be played by an older actor...I'm sorry it is just the only realistic way! Taylor was great as Jacob in his pre wolf years...but lets be real here! It just doesn't make sense for him to play Jacob in his "older" years for all intense and purposes.



    ~If they choose to cast a new Jacob I promise that we will fall in love with whoever it is as well!! Taylor was maybe in Twilight for 8 minutes...how can you be fighting so hard for him when he was not really even in it....Jacob is a minor minor role in Twilight.

    You can tell taylor is passionate bowt his role coz he is buffing himself up for new moon..and if he is willing to work hard for his role (which he is already doing) then he HAS TO BE IN NEW MOON!! He was sooo good in twilight and iv loved all taylors moviess!! SO I HOPE THEY KEEEP HIM AS JACOB BLACK!! THEY BETTER

Even though I'm not a huge fan of him, c'mon, that's just stupid to put him in the movie and then yank him out again for the next. For the people who want to see the "man", technically he's seventeen in the books, I think? So they are still in high school, people. I think he deserves to get this role. Everyone cross their fingers today and wish him luck at his meeting! (and Ben Barnes in New Moon wouldn't be bad either... :)

Teenagers arent the only ones that are reading the books anymore. Grown ass women are....so while I understand that this younger females want to see this boy stay in the movie.....The grown women who are also want to see the movie and have the ability to go back as many times as they want with their girlfriends.....WE want to see a man.....You know the way it is in the book......If you want to see Taylor soo bad in a movie then put him in a Harry Potter Movie!

    Actually, you need to get a bit more familiarized w/the fanbase. I am more than certain that a large portion of the adult (25+) Twilight fan community fully supports Taylor as Jacob. For the record, the real fans care about the best portrayal of Jacob's "character", not his "appearance". Taylor is passionate about being as true to Jacob & the fans, as possible & he has been. I can't say the same for Mike Copon, what has he done to show interest in anything other than wanting the fame of the role? No one else in the cast is 100% physically "suited" for their roles, as Ashley Greene herself has pointed out. If they recast Taylor based on something so petty, its a weak double-standard. You want Mike Copon on a screen, tell them to make a Power Rangers movie or maybe another bad Scorpion King flick. Leave NM to those who care about content rather than candy coating.

    It would be the most stupid move EVER to put another actor in Lautner's place. Even though I'm not a huge fan of him, c'mon, that's just stupid to put him in the movie and then yank him out again for the next. For the people who want to see the "man", technically he's seventeen in the books, I think? So they are still in high school, people. I think he deserves to get this role. Everyone cross their fingers today and wish him luck at his meeting! (and Ben Barnes in New Moon wouldn't be bad either... :)

    OMG.....Please kick this little boy out of the movie......no one (and I mean the older viewers 18-25) wants to see this KID play in this movie.. Teenagers arent the only ones that are reading the books anymore. Grown ass women are....so while I understand that this younger females want to see this boy stay in the movie.....The grown women who are also want to see the movie and have the ability to go back as many times as they want with their girlfriends.....WE want to see a man.....You know the way it is in the book......If you want to see Taylor soo bad in a movie then put him in a Harry Potter Movie!

    ok, there are a lot of things that i dont get. they are worried that taylor is too small or whatever for the job, and they are worried about that because they want him to look big for THE PEOPLE who are watching. as far as i see, people dont care. they jsut want them. yet, they are still worried abot what he looks like. also, what about team jacob shirts and all that other stuff? when we wear those, we are representing taylor lautner, not anyone else. so this would cause a loss of money actually...people also might be so pissed if taylor isnt new moon that they wont go to see it and they will lose money. i dont want money to be a main thing here, but thats what it seems like people are worrying about these days. also something i dont understand is they are saying taylor isnt "physically mature" enough to play jacob. well i dont get that because they are saying that when he has an 8 pack. i just dont get why they are even thinking about replacing him.

    Finally, some semblance of hope! Taylor is very charismatic and very charming. All my hopes are with him tomorrow. I assure you I will be on pins and needles. I hope that he stays on, because the fact is he's MY Jacob, and watching New Moon without him will be impossible. Internet is a glorious think. ALL of my luck goes out to Taylor. GOOD LUCK!

    He said they hadn't said anything about CGI! He's just been working out and trying to naturally buff up and he's doing so well. If they get someone else there's not going to be any young Jacob black left in bigger Jacob. And there was. I vote Taylor. He's a beautiful person and he's so passioante about this role.     When it comes down to it if Chris doesn't think that Taylor can take on the role then he will do what is best for the film! Personally and I think many of you are kidding yourselves...Jacob needs to be played by an older actor...I'm sorry it is just the only realistic way! Taylor was great as Jacob in his pre wolf years...but lets be real here! It just doesn't make sense for him to play Jacob in his "older" years for all intense and purposes.

    ~If they choose to cast a new Jacob I promise that we will fall in love with whoever it is as well!! Taylor was maybe in Twilight for 8 minutes...how can you be fighting so hard for him when he was not really even in it....Jacob is a minor minor role in Twilight.

    No Taylor no way will I go see it, and no $ for Summit ! I would not, at least one that I would pay for. You Tube it whenever someone uploads it, and see it just like I saw the whole Golden Compass movie on You Tube. I would skip to the parts I want to see. The beginning b-day scene and the volturi scenes. If it's not Taylor I wouldn't want to ruin my images of Taylor as I see it whenever I read the books which I am reading now 4 the 4th time. The books are better than the movies anyhow, since movies can't be so detailed.

    No, I for one am not kidding you. Taylor was and is perfect for Twilight and New Moon, and Micheal Copon is TOTALLY GROSS! He's almost thirty here and Bella hasn't even graduated high school! That's so weird! Bella and Jacob have to have that best friend relationship that I don't think 26 year old Copon can give to Twilight fans.

    PLEASE don't get me wrong Taylor is a doll and was an AWESOME JB in Twilight...but I am a HUGE fan of the novels...and a HUGE fan of the movie Twilight and what I want is the rest of the movies to be friggin AMAZING. So for me...and many of my friends it really comes down to what is best for the film,,,and what is best for the film will be determined by Summitt...and we owe them the support and respect they deserve. If we get a new JB it is soooo for the best! Taylor will be just fine...we will see more of him I'm sure!
