That's because Strait looked like, I repeat, looked like Taylor Lautner back in 2005. Now Steven strait looks much too old now and has no resemblance to Taylor whatsoever. Go google his latest images to see. Not to mention that I've been hearing here and there that Steven Strait doesn't even want anything to do with any roles about teen angst. He's right to want to move on, he's been there, done that and now he is in his 20's and wants other things. So let it be. At least Taylor does read the books, and does like the role, is dedicated to look the role, and wants the role.

All in all it’s a bad judgment call on Summits behalf, why complain about an actors capability for a role after you have already cast him. Especially when Taylor Lautner’s already has a massive fan base with Twilight as Jacob Black, it’s a sequel… same actors in next movie, otherwise the movie just won’t be as good as the first, sequels lose fans. Especially when there are different actors or character changes. I’m more of a team Edward person; per say so you may ask why it matters that Jacob may change.

Where are you going to find at least 6 Native Americans that are 6 feet tall and muscular, let alone another 4 who can fit the bill to play the rest of the wolf pack on top of that? If the studio executives/Director anyone else who wants to replace him had actually read "New Moon;" they would know that "Jacob" has an incredible growth spurt that could not be explained by even getting an older actor to play him. No matter how long any actor works-out to prep to be "Jacob" for this movie, they will need help via CGI to actually compare to the book. Get the actor right and STAY WITH LAUTNER and use CGI. As a native american myself Lautner does look closer than the other people they are considering such as Copon who looks Asian. Disregarding race the fans out there already see Lautner as "Jacob" who has the personality and the acting abibility to play this role. They had better not replace him. They have already replaced, what, 3 other people and none of them were nearly as important as the role of Jacob. There will be some serious uprisings from fans if Taylor is replaced.
