Twilight Stars Furious Over Director’s Dismissal from New Moon

twilightmad.jpg Well, the fallout from Catherine Hardwicke’s dismissal from directing New Moon has hit. Looks like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, or as we know them, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, are miffed over Summit making Hardwicke leave the New Moon sequel:

‘They are both very upset,” a good Hollywood source told me Monday. ”They are committed to doing at least the next ‘Twilight’ film — and probably the one after that — but they really wanted to do them with Catherine.”

Stewart in particular, is furious about it, reportedly telling a close associate, ”I sure hope they don’t f— it up,” referring to the “New Moon” movie

The genesis of the actors’ anger comes from a feeling the film studio — Summit Entertainment — is far too eager to rush out the second ”Twilight” flick, without prepping for it properly, as Stewart and Pattinson believed Hardwicke would do.

The big concern is that New Moon will be rushed. The public reason for Hardwicke leaving is that due to her schedule, she won’t be able to make it fast enough. But will this mean New Moon will be hurried and sloppy to cash in on the Twilight craze?

I am soooo very THRILLED that Hardwicke will NOT be directing. I was hoping they would get whoever directed LOTR or Harry Potter....someone similar to them and that style. I am not a director and do not claim any experience/knowledge on the subject but I am a fan of movies in general and I see a lot of them. I don't always care who directs but I think the cast of Twilight did a great job with what they were given. I loved the movie and will see it for a third time tomorrow, but really I believe a new director could take a mediocre film up to outstanding. I'm very hopeful for New Moon.

I think Twilight seemed rushed. They need to get the essence of New Moon rather than just throw a bunch of scenes in there from the book.

I think it is good to replace her. The books have an extraordinary emotional feel, harwick showed it more as a inflamed high school crush, verry disapointing. I hope they can recapture some of the emotion portrayed in the book.

Honestly, I don't think Hardwicke did a good job at directing and I think neither Rob nor Kristen did well with the acting. Truthfully, I wish they would replace the screenwriter, director, etc, and replace Kristen and Rob as the leads. I believe the rest of the Cullens and many of the other actors were great, but the movie was dragged down by the others. I don't feel that Rob or Kristen were able to carry the full load of bringing Edward and Bella to life and I would wish that Summit could find actors who could do that. Now, I can't say whether this was the screenwriter's fault or the director's fault, or whoever's fault, but the way they portrayed...many things in the movie did not turn out well. The love between Bella and Edward never developed. It went like this: They hate each other, they are fond of each other, they get into a fight, they are madly in love. There was absolutely nothing that contributed to the "true love" they have in the books. It's all some teenage angsty girl that falls in love with a pained vampire. If they would have stuck more to the book, perhaps the movie would have turned out better. But, please, don't ruin another good book. The fans out here were counting on Summit to bring this mythological world to life, but all it did was overshadow the amazing imaginary world they had in mind.

I agreed with some of what you said, but I feel that Rob & Kristen did ok job as Edward & Bella. I don't think they should be replaced, anyway, if they are, many fans out there will be pissed off. LOL... that goes NM down the drain ...
Of course, their acting can be improved in ways to portray as edward and bella. They are fairly young and new as actor and actress.
As for the twilight movie itself, I feel it's either the director or the script writer's fault ..
that it didn't turn out better than it should be! Something that are changed which I felt it shouldn't and some new things added, that wasn't really necessary ...
they should just stick to the book as much as they can, to please the fans since it's mostly us who goes to see the movies .... lol...
I am fairly pleased with most of the castings, except Rosalie (Nikki), but she isn't the lead character, so it's fine.

I think they are rushing it. How could they have a theatre release date already? I think they will screw this up by going to fast and they will lose a lot of fans. Honestly, we love the books and we don't want to see it tarnished. We can wait 2 years for the next one. Take your time! Make the movie better than the first!

Thank you!!! I believe they (Rob and Kristen) did fit the roles of Bella and Edward perfectly!! And for me no one else can take their place. But I agree that the movie was rushed as in the relationship of Bella and Edward...they met, they hate each other, than they love each other to death. It really didn't capture the way the book does... I was dissapointed in that. Also, the movies wasn't so great... but i do hope that the new director, even though it seems like they are rushing it, does a better job with it. I'm really really looking forward to New Moon.

all involved in the making of new moon will make sure the fans get what we wish for (i hope). There's too much riding on this film and im sure they wont , "f!@K it up". Cant wait to see how taylor lautner will portray jacob black, wish i new what was happening to the were wolf pack though. I hope soloman and krys get called back. Has anyone any news on that situation? We're all excited and looking forward to new moon and constantly re reading the book (the we being my sister and daughter also). November/december when ever its due we're going to be caught up in the magic that is bella and edward. wuhu
