i know that a lot of people will hate me for saying this but...... i think there should be a new jacob. the other guy was great in the movie but for new moon jacob goes through so many changes that watching it for me would be a huge downer without a better jacob on it.

I am pretty neutral over the Jacob controversy, I like Taylor, but I understand why they would want to go with a physically more mature actor and Michael is totally hot too. Now, if they are to replace anyone at all, it should be Kristen. When I was reading the books I loved Bella's character to death, and the love story between her and Edward, their love could withstand anything. Kristen did a terrible job trying to show any type of love she is supposed to have for Edward! With that said, I will still go to see New Moon no matter what, new or old Jacob, and even with the horrible Bella choice-Kristen. I can only hope I am not as disappointed as I was with Twilight.

Taylor Is perfect as Jacob. He actually grows at the same speed as Jacob. The proof is in his picures! Go to the search engine for this website and type 'Taylor Lautner's Growth Spurt' , click on that article.They have a series of pictures of Taylor from 2007 to present, a span of just one year. It's amazing how much he has changed! We may actually see Taylor grow in reality just as Jacob did in the books. If he grew and changed in one year as we see in those pictures then it will be the same as they film the movie since it takes one year too. If they make the mistake of changing to an older looking actor how are they going to make him look young in the beginning. I would think it would be harder and goofier looking to try to make an older man look younger.

I agree that Taylor should stay. While watching Twilight we got a glimps of the Cullens making an agreement with Jacobs grandfather. The grandfather - who was also a werewolf - was shorter than the Cullens. What's the big deal?

Fans are upset because Michael Copon is being considered to replace Taylor. If they are going to replace Taylor, they have to replace him with a better actor who would be more believable to go against Edward and that is no other than STEVEN STRAIT. More fans will accept the change of Jacob with they choose Steven over Michael.

I saw Steven in his last roles and I see him looking way too old for this part, he looks older than Edward/Rob and I think they are the same age. Just Google him to see. BUT, I half-heartedly agree with you on your point . Actually I, if they make the mistake of not keeping Taylor, anyone would be better than Copon. In any case though, it doesn't matter to me if Taylor is not Jacob I and my sister's and all our friends have decided that we will completely give up on the Twilight movies altogether that follow and just get back to our beloved books only. Who knows even, if the other movies will get made due to lack funds from movie goers. Afterall we love our Taylor as Jacob and his role only increases in the series, and if many give up on them like we plan if they change him their success dangles at our fingers doesn't it?

I agree with cyn. I've read all the books SEVERAL times. Jacob needs to transform toooooo much to keep Taylor (sorry Taylor). I think they should use Taylor a little in the movie at the beginning though to show what he looked like when Bella first moved to Forks to emphasize the drastic physical changes he goes through. I didn't really find Jake all that appealing in the series until Breaking Dawn, and it made me look at him in a whole new light. Honestly if they do not get Jacob right in the movies, they will not reflect an accurate portrayal of the werewolf so many people have grown to appreciate [whether they agree with him going after Bella or not.] Team Edward, Team Jacob, and Team Switzerland needs to stick together and make a statement reflecting even more so, than we have already done, for our unhappiness with the current rumors going around about replacing Taylor with Copon.

I just really hope Kristen steps her acting game up. I read the entire book series after seeing Twilight and I thought that Kristen didn't do a great job portraying Bella. She puts way too much of her own personality into that role. Yes, Bella is kinda awkward and clumsy, but she is also sweet and nice and more expressive. Bella didn't smile hardly at all in the movie. Bella was, well, DRY in the movie. I'm not worried about this whole Jacob mess. I am worried about the part where she's left the in the woods. I want to feel for the character in that part, but I will be prepared for mediocre acting.

I have nothing against Taylor but keeping him as Jacob doesn't make sense. He looks like Bella's baby brother (cute baby brother). Personality wise he turns from this shy guy to this cocky one. He and Bella have moments when they almost kiss. I just can't picture and I've tried they are mismatched. I just can't see Taylor going up against Edward. I think the movie should stay true the book whoever plays the part. I've been on youtube watching fan trailers and think Steven Strait really could pull it off.

You guys im sure hes a saint to all his fans but hes not Jacob Black, not just with his size and i dont care how dreamy he is, or w/ his personality. You put alot of who you are into your character and it shows through to the audience, whether its suppose to or not, you cant teach someone to be edgy or not give af*ck thats something you get on your own, and i dont think he'll pull off Jacobs character. Go search at current picures before talking. Taylor is not sharkboy anymore, hell he doesn't even look anymore like he did in Twilight! Strait looks too old for the part already otherwise don't you think when Catherine Hardwicke was doing Twilight they would of made clear something to the effect of 'ok, ppl, Taylor will play Jacob in Twilight and when we get the green light for the next movie it will be plyed by strait.' But no they did not even if StphenieM. had input in the movie making decisions. They obviously agreed he wasn't right for the part anymore.

I have nothing against Taylor but keeping him as Jacob doesn't make sense. He looks like Bella's baby brother (cute baby brother). Personality wise he turns from this shy guy to this cocky one. He and Bella have moments when they almost kiss. I just can't picture and I've tried they are mismatched. I just can't see Taylor going up against Edward. I think the movie should stay true the book whoever plays the part. I've been on youtube watching fan trailers and think Steven Strait really could pull it off.

I saw Steven in his last roles and I see him looking way too old for this part, he looks older than Edward/Rob and I think they are the same age. Just Google him to see. BUT, I half-heartedly agree with you on your point . Actually I, if they make the mistake of not keeping Taylor, anyone would be better than Copon. It's amazing how much he has changed! We may actually see Taylor grow in reality just as Jacob did in the books. If he grew and changed in one year as we see in those pictures then it will be the same as they film the movie since it takes one year too. Steven is a Honey!!! I think thats a good choice. I just hope that steven keeps to the character and not change too much

OMG!! I am soo mad they better NOT replace him! He is like the best person to play him!! Ok so before I saw the movie or even knew they were going to make a Twilight movie, I read the first book. I got the books from my aunt but I only had time to read the first one before she needed them back...so I only had read the first book before seeing the movie. I absolutly LOVED the movie and thought it was better than the book...I'm sorry but that's the truth. And because I LOVED the movie so much I just had to read the rest of the books.(I just finished reading Breaking Dawn two days ago) But what I loved about reading the books after the movie was I could picture all the characters. I will be so skrewed up if they replace the Jacob character! I will be SOOOOO ANGRY!! And I am sure that if they replace Taylor then this new director guy(I'm not to happy about this guy either) will totally pay for it. He will be hated by sooo many people.

I agree that Taylor should stay. While watching Twilight we got a glimps of the Cullens making an agreement with Jacobs grandfather. The grandfather - who was also a werewolf - was shorter than the Cullens. What's the big deal?

it isnt just him tht has made the decision for replacing him other people hav decided this too tht work in the movie
hopefully he isnt replaced but i think tht the same director should be doing the 2nd movie

but i think he is good and it will be gr8 to c how it all works out

the effects will be good and even better (not sayin the first film's was bad)
