I think that Tom Felton for Alec would be OK...and thats about it. I really believe Gapard should play the part of Demetri though because he is a great actor, good looking, and fits in well as a dark character. As for those other guys...NO. I thought I heard when they casted Twilight they were looking for new and up coming actors... I mean Peter Facinelli, Billy Burke, and Rob Pattinson were the only ones I had ever seen in anything else...why all of a sudden is it important to get big names. I love these books, I am on my fourth time around reading Eclipse and I would hate it turning these movies into something it's not if it was casted by all the high school musical cast and Fanning-(who is a great actress for a kid). And I am not a kid, or a tween. I am 30 and love the books-------casting a bunch of preteen stars-and I do mean STARS----would honeslty disgust me.....Hell, who would play Heidi, Leah, or Emily--Miley Cryus? Lets keep these movies about the books and the story and not focus on the big names to playing in them...well thats just my opinion at least...I say relative no names all the way around....they don't distract people.

I think that their best bet would be to go with unknown...that's part of what made the 1st one big and that is also how unknown actors/actresses get discovered!

Oh, but I can hear the remarks back already "I am twelve and I love the idea of both them in New moon, and this saga is meant for tweens and children as well". For the first part of that imagined response I say HAHAHAHAHAHA, clearly your taste in quality actors is weak, next i bet you will say I loved Gigli with affleck and JLO. To the second part, that this saga is to be enjoyed by children, I say chances are you didnt understand what was really happening in the honeymoon in Breaking Dawn. If you did understand, I cant see how you feel that those actions are appropriate for those young readers. To those wishing actors look EXACTLY like they were described in the books and have the script follow tightly to the script. I say enjoy the likely poor acting abilities of that person who looks JUST like that described person. I want some real acting for these characters, not some two bit disney production. To those very young readers either be disappointed the script does not stay close in breaking dawn, or have your parents refuse admission for you to see Breaking Dawn because that book is definitely for a maturer reader.

Gaspard Ulliel looks like what I would imagine to be a blood-sucking evil vampire. Although he doesnt suit the description of Alec.

Alec is said to look 'Nearly identical to Jane with darker hair and thinner lips.

Lucas Grabeel would be more likely to suit this. Alec is part of the Volturi which resides in Voletta, Italy. I dont know for sure if Lucas would be able to pull off an Italian accent.

Lastly, Alec and Jane are not children, or tweens for that matter. READ the books people, Volturi law stipulates that no child is to be turned to a vampire, as they do not have the mental capacity to perserve secrecy of the society, and are overly consumed in their thirst to rationalize how to safely feed. Hence the plot of Breaking Dawn with Renesme. Jane and Alec are to be around the same age as edward and Bella, Late teenagers, but have a baby face that gives them an appearance of childhood.

Now anyone who actually saw Hannibal Rising can agree that Gaspard has that youthful apearance of a late teen. He has the acting chops, along with that devilish smile that would be perfect for a vampire intent on inflicting his ability on others.

I seem to be agreeing with you alot. That is actually true (about Jane & Alec not being children) they look younger but they really aren't and in a movie with Gaspard, he looked no older than about 16 and that movie was that old.

Why are so many of you so strict on wanting these characters to be as close to the books as possible. The first film already deviated from the book on descriptions. READ Twilight with a fine tooth comb on how they describe each character. Laurent, in the book, is not an African American, they just describe him as dark haired. Rosalie is changed as well, along with Jasper.

The important thing is concentrating on the acting chops these people have, and the chemistry they form between eachother. We already know Bella and Edward have the chemistry, but can Alec and Jane get the right sibling chemistry. Lastly the book centers around Bella and Edward, if the films brings in these mega actors just to attract more audiences (which based on the popularity of the books and last movie it is not really needed to attract more). Budgets will be blown on increased actor salaries rather than properly placed on the production. Than these mega actors will demand more air time and eventually it turns into Oceans 13, where so many mega stars demand the increased air time centered on them, and the story suffers because of these mega actors greed to stay in the limelight.

I agree, if they have the wrong hair colour or aren't tall enough, that's fine.

I like all of the choices but the kids who played in willy wonka... idk i dont think he fits into the "world of magic" if you know wat I mean. I am afraid the guy who plays in harry potter wont have time to do twilight too. Alec is not there long yes but they are still filming harry potter. Idk when you look at the picture the guy from HSM fits. he has that baby face... they are supposed to be child like and if he is to tall thats ok... they make people different sizes all the time... i mean look at harry potter and lord of the rings and the list can continue... I am excited for Dakota though... at first I didnt think it fit but I am rereading new moon and went to read her description and it sounds perfect... i am super excited i cant wait to see who the other actors are...

i also think that when they pick caius, marcos and aro they need to look at some of the older men who played in the underworld movie.. though they are a little different than the twilight vampires they fit the look already.

Of these 4 choices I lean to Lucas Grabeel. He looks the youngest and if Fanning plays Jane you atleast want an actor that looks like he is in your family . Granted fraternal twins usually don't look alike but there usually is some resemblance here.....or......there. My hook, line, and sinker is not in the water yet on this one. I want a good fishing hole, cause there is alot of catchable fish out there. :))

Gaspard Ulliel looks like what I would imagine to be a blood-sucking evil vampire. Although he doesnt suit the description of Alec.


Alec is said to look 'Nearly identical to Jane with darker hair and thinner lips.



Lucas Grabeel would be more likely to suit this. Alec is part of the Volturi which resides in Voletta, Italy. I dont know for sure if Lucas would be able to pull off an Italian accent.

Lastly, Alec and Jane are not children, or tweens for that matter. READ the books people, Volturi law stipulates that no child is to be turned to a vampire, as they do not have the mental capacity to perserve secrecy of the society, and are overly consumed in their thirst to rationalize how to safely feed. Hence the plot of Breaking Dawn with Renesme. Jane and Alec are to be around the same age as edward and Bella, Late teenagers, but have a baby face that gives them an appearance of childhood.


Now anyone who actually saw Hannibal Rising can agree that Gaspard has that youthful apearance of a late teen. He has the acting chops, along with that devilish smile that would be perfect for a vampire intent on inflicting his ability on others.

gaspard ulliel and tom felton should not be in the twilight saga...gaspard was too connected with playing edward cullen....and tom felton is too related to the harry potter series as malfoy..more than rpatz!! since dakota is a well known actress...maybe a unknown dakota look-alike should be alec!!! that just my opinion...there is too much big names connected to this project anyways!!

I think that their best bet would be to go with unknown...that's part of what made the 1st one big and that is also how unknown actors/actresses get discovered!

Why are so many of you so strict on wanting these characters to be as close to the books as possible. The first film already deviated from the book on descriptions. READ Twilight with a fine tooth comb on how they describe each character. Laurent, in the book, is not an African American, they just describe him as dark haired. Rosalie is changed as well, along with Jasper.


The important thing is concentrating on the acting chops these people have, and the chemistry they form between eachother. We already know Bella and Edward have the chemistry, but can Alec and Jane get the right sibling chemistry. Lastly the book centers around Bella and Edward, if the films brings in these mega actors just to attract more audiences (which based on the popularity of the books and last movie it is not really needed to attract more). Budgets will be blown on increased actor salaries rather than properly placed on the production. Than these mega actors will demand more air time and eventually it turns into Oceans 13, where so many mega stars demand the increased air time centered on them, and the story suffers because of these mega actors greed to stay in the limelight.

I agree with merissa they should choose Tom Felton!!! I am also a huge fan of Harry Potter!! The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is coming out on July 16, 2009!!! I Can't Wait!!! But, yeah he would do a wonderful job and he already has a lot of experience playing someone who likes to cause misery!!After all he has been Draco Malfoy for all the Harry Potter movies!!

i agree with DREW, about Gaspard Ulliel being a good choice esp after his darkness from the hannibal movie, but also agree with about how his accent may cause conflictions, if it wasnt american the only decent alternative would be italian.
but i also agree with RANDOM READER, is dokata gets casted as jane, alec needs to be younger playing her brother and all.

Also about the casting I hope they reframe from the hollywoodisation, one main reason why Twilight was so special was because the unknowns helped audiences focus on the characters rather than getting hyped up from stars attched to it.

Gaspard Ulliel from Hannibal Rising has a real possibility to how I pictured Alec. THe others are either too tall, or not built enough. Some appear skinny and I pictured Alec as built but not to the point of Felix or Demetri. The only concern is Gaspard's french accent. Though Stephanie Meyer does not tell which nationality he originates. Alec does currently reside in Italy, the Volturi search the world for Vampires with those abilities they could use. I just pictures Alec as being american.
