Kristen Stewart: New Moon is “Such a Machine Now”

by Will on January 22, 2009 · Comments

in Interview, Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart put down her, ah–tobacco pipe just long enough to bemoan how popular New Moon is to MTV:

“It’s such a machine now. All of a sudden, this movie has become [something bigger],” she explained. “With all the expectations — usually, you make a movie and think, ‘If it touches people, great; if it doesn’t, then you move on to the next one, and no one’s personally affected by it.’ [But] everyone’s really sensitive with any changes right now.

“Everyone needs to be on the same page to make the same movie [as the original 'Twilight' was],” she said of the upcoming “New Moon” shoot. “Or else it will be a very disoriented project.”

Kristin Stewart MTV interviewYou know, Kristin–I get it. Down with the man. Make art, not product. But this isn’t high school drama club. You’re in the big leagues now, and with that comes managers, producers, stylists, PR agents, spin doctors, and decisions by committee. You may not like it, but it’s the name of the game in Hollywood when you are working on one of the most anticipated movies of the year. However much I might agree with you–that New Moon has all the signs of potential disaster now that everyone wants a finger in the pie–you’re coming off as unappreciative and oh-so-over-it in this and the recent E! Sundance interview.   There are thousands of young actresses that would kill to be in your position, and though we all certainly appreciate your honesty–perhaps giving thanks that you could even be in this incredible position is the better tact for the press? It’s not all bad vibes and buzzkill for Stewart, though–she digs the new director, Chris Weitz:

“Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted,” she explained. “And he’s very clearly not doing the movie just because it’s the next big thing. He really likes it a lot.”

Stewart is glad Taylor Lautner is staying for his role:

“I’m so glad they didn’t have to find somebody else; we already had him! I didn’t understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it’s set, we can all rest.

I disagree about her lack of "passion" in interviews. I will state right away that I have always loved Kristen and only became interested in the Twilight series after reading her interview in ETWeekly last summer. It was then that I went out, purchased all the books and spent just over 5 days reading all of them. It was her passion for making a good movie, something more than just a teen love story, that drew me to the series, and the movie. Yes, Kristen might have come off as un-appreciative when she decided to re-do some of the lines, but honestly look at the script she was given. Don't get me wrong, I love Stephanie Meyer, but Twilight was not written to be published and a lot of the lines in there are gushy, repetitive and don't fit with the tone of the novel. Kristen changed lines she believed distracted from the true story - the angst and insecurity that comes from loving someone when you feel unworthy. Kristen likes her deep stories and considers them to be where she fits - a rape victim in "Speak", a drifting folk singer in the biography "Into the Wild". Yes, she is not used to having hordes of fans but she saw something in Twilight that drew her to it and she wanted to do it, that does not make her unappreciative or uncaring.

Also - look at all the interviews on Youtube while they were filming Twilight - she was very passionate and loved being the character.

But then, rumors of being forced to say only certain things in interviews and get training on "proper" ettiquette tainted both Rob and Kristen. If you love something and feel passionate about it, but are then forced to only say certain things, it is hard for that passion to seep out.

AND - like posted by many others, they were at Sundance and she was promoting Adventureland (supposidly one of the best at the festival) and the next thing she knows, reporters are trying to get interviews for New Moon - she just spent months on promotional tour for Twilight, will be starting at least another year of promotion and filming for New Moon and Eclipse (to be filmed together), so it is not hard to see why she would be a little worn out and tired of talking about New Moon for the moment.

Finally - I'm surprised it took her this long to speak out on New Moon at all. She is known for speaking her mind. Remember the first time you heard they cut Catherine? Hired Chris (known for the underwhelming Golden Compass adaptation)? Tried to replace Jacob? Rumors of disney stars being added, most likely to make more money and draw on the disney fame? Only added 13 million to the budget while hiring expensive stars for bit parts and giving pay raises too (yes, raises were needed, but what about special effects and Italy?)? Heard they were filming back to back so they could pump the films out faster and bank on the Twilight fan-base? While most of these worked out, I know a lot of people were initially shocked. It does feel like Summit has dropped the idea of making a good story and is just wanting to make money to save the company. Yes, there probably are other reasons for their decisions, but you have to be honest and deep down remember that to some, this all feels like it is becoming a money-making machine. For Kristen, the story has always been the most important part, so when something she loves gets turned into what appears to be a money-mill, I'm sure she became as frustrated as the rest of us did at one point or another.

Bottom line: Kristen loves the story behind the Twilight series. She has to or she never would have signed on for it. Neither Rob nor her knew it was going to be so big, and they were not in it for the money and fame, but instead to make a good story. Is that not the true definition of passion - to want to make a good story without needing or expecting to make a bunch of money off of it? To make it just for the love of the story? Maybe I'm wrong, but that is the vibe I've always gotten from Rob and Kristen and to me, that is enough to sell me of there passion. Personally, I'd be offended if she was all bubbly and sucking up to the press, because that means she was in it for the fame and not just to make a good story.

Kristent and Rob have said multiple times that they had not even heard of Twilight when they auditioned and did not read the novel until after they got the roles. An actor does not have to love a book to sign on for the movie. It's called being a working actor in Hollywood, which everyone knows is not easy or a given! All of the actors have said they did not read the book prior to auditioning for the roles. She may love the story now, but she had not read the novel when she signed on. She herself has said this many times. Just wanted to point that out.

Okay, I'm a pretty devoted Twilight fan. I've read allt he books several times, saw the movie a few times and even went to Forks and La Push... however, I've said from day 1 that Kristin is pretty cluless as to how lucky she is. She never seemed appreciative of her fans and doesn't seem to get just how incrdible her situation is. Ms. Stewart, you may not be all that impressed with Twilgiht / Edward / Jacob, but WE are, so you could at least fake it just a little. We've made you a very rich young woman so a little gratutiude would be nice. Maybe take notes from Ashley and Rachel.
  • V-Cullen
During the filming of Twilight, I think Catherine was pretty tough on Rob. She pretty much let Kristin have her way, because she loved her so much. I'm predicting it's going to be COMPLETE opposite with New Moon and Chris W. I bet he's going to be tough on Kristen; because in my opinion her potrayl of Bella was lacking something. I loved Rob performance.
  • SAM
Oh come on. i think shes Happy about New Moon and she said good things about Chris too. but shes there for Adventure Land its not like shes there promoting New Moon.

I am a huge Twilight saga Fan, and loved the first movie and cant wait for New Moon and hope they make em all into movies. but honostly i dont see why people are bashing Kristen. im glad shes not a fako. besides shes always like this i dont see her jumping up and down for any of her movies, thats her personality.
  • Wing
    Sam, i couldn't agree more.
I personally loved Kristen's reaction. She just didn't want to talk about New Moon there in Sundance, because firstly it's not about New Moon, it's about Adventureland! And secondly, maybe she doesn't want to take all the attention, because all the actors in Adventureland deserve equally attention. It's like she doesn't want all the people just focussing on the fact that she did one big movie...

Sorry if my english sounds strange, hope you guys understand my opnion :)
  • annasvea
i dont think that its that she isnt excited or something.. maybe she is just done with all the buzz... im sure its gets alittle old repeating the same questions over and over... and she does seem like the kind of actore who just wants her own life she doesnt everyone up in her business all the time...
  • tlhmh359
I agree i like that she doesn't act all fake and everything... I mean i love the twilight saga but i wanted to know about her new movie... and besides there was another person sitting there next to her who should also have been interviewed instead of having all the attention on her... and maybe they do edit the other stuff out but i liked her reaction too.
  • kellyscott
c'mon! she said she was excited.. why you bashing on her again? sheesh! hahaha!!!

was it me? or was that a really awkward interview.. i mean having your co-star hold the mic while the interviewer asks about a different movie when they're supposed to be there for adventureland.. i guess he was like "ugh twilight/new moon stuff again.." haha! ;D
  • Jo
You know I wouldn't mind her lack of enthusiasm if she actually did a decent job in Twilight, but she didn't. Her portrayal of Bella was horrible, so I would appreciate a little more from her in the movie, interviews and anything else that has to do with Twilight Saga.

I totally agree. SHe is completely unappreciative!!! If she continues on like this, Stephenie Meyer and whoever is casting should consider dumping her from the Twilight franchise!

I loved Rob. she left something to be desired... hopefully she does great job with the next movie, you know?
  • bookworm
i actually liked kristen as bella. I think she actually epitomized the role i think all the characters were perfectly cast except for that of edward. The movie was good for the budget it had. I look forward to seeing new moon since rob wont be the center of it

yes! exactly.! at least some one understands. its just her personality. Its not "new moon season" --if thats how you wanna put it-- for kristen. i mean she has a life besides the twilight saga. Shes promoting adventureland right now and i think people needa chill cuz soon enough she will be all over twilight again. If we get worked up over such things, how great will the movie be?. i think we need to back off and let them make the movie their way and not get all worked up about insignificant things like this. Let the actors be who they are, theyre actors!

I agree with you & Sam =)! She really is excited about New Moon, it just doesn't show in her interviews. She's never been really good at them and that's what shows. Plus they only asked questions about Twilight (and New Moon), while the whole Adventureland cast was there. I think she felt sorry for them. However.. Yes.. Because Twilight has become such a big success, it's not like she's an 'actress' in a movie, she's a 'star' in a movie. She was known from her movies before ofcourse, but this really is her breakthrough. Maybe she isn't used to all the attention. Those are things that can be learned. She was very happy with Taylor staying as Jacob and Chris ;)! I was a little bit disappointed though. I wanted to hear more about her new movie and all the asked were questions about New Moon. Don't get me wrong. I also love to hear about that, but I was just looking forward to hear about that movie more (since it will premier later in my country) ^^. Well.. that's just my opinion. =) (Btw.. Your English is just fine Wing n_n)
  • SAM
Your english is fine. i understood your point to the dot :)
  • Kat
Well, I think she is excited to do New Moon but she comes off as a little bitchy and "i'm so better than everyone else". I mean if Twilight wasn't as big as it was she wouldn't be a star. I think she physically meets the requirements for Bella but in Twilight she acted kind of stuck up which is not Bella in the book. She even seemed a little stuck up in the Sundance Interview. Maybe all the money is going to her head? Either way I agree with the writer of this post, "your in the big leagues now". Your not going to get the privacy you always had. You either deal with it or get out.
  • annasvea

Honsetly I am hoping that she becomes a little more excited about the succes the Twilight Saga has had and will have if she delivers a heart wrenching performance in new moon. Though she looks down on twilight becasue it is more of a blockbuster type fillm she has the opprotunity to make the audience feel overwhelming pain and grief. Though I love the twilight movie because I love the story, her performance was underwhelming you don't even realize she loves him unitl prom. I am hoping that she will be able to pull off the emotion needed for new moon if not I will be so sad!

I totally agree! I hope she gets some kind of revelation soon because i don't like the attitude...
  • Jbrew
I dont think this article depicts Kristen's sentiments from the interview correctly. If you watch the video and all of the other interviews (there were a ton... and they ALL asked her about New Moon, in front of her co-stars... awkward when it happens over and over again... so I don't blame her for seeming reluctant and not jumping up and down at the mention of New Moon) she did at Sundance for Adventureland... she does state how excited she is... and that she likes Chris Weitz and that she is happy to get back to work with the cast and crew, etc. As far as the "Big Machine" and "everyone needs to be on the same page" comments - she is only stating the truth. I mean, when Chris took the Director role... there were a lot of skeptics saying that he wasn't going to be passionate for the story like Catherine was and that he wouldn't know how to direct a story about an awkward teenage girl. I think that in this interview, Kristen is saying that she feels a connection with Chris... and he isnt in it for the money. I think that she is letting the fans and skeptics know that she believes Chris can get everyone on the same page because he cares about the story just as much, etc. Beyond that - Kristen is not your average bubbly type or person. She is straight forward. She may not be graceful... but I don't think she is ungrateful. Grace will come with time.

Also, I really love Kristen as an actress. I love that she has her own opninions and says what she is thinking. She may have been surprised by how huge Twilight got (just like Rob), but she's expressed her gratitude for the Twilight fans on many occasions... and her awe for Stephenie. She's a great actress... young, yes... but - she has done so well with getting an audience to relate to the characters she's played - especially the darker roles. As far as Kristen’s work as Bella goes… she did a great job. She looks the part, too. Bella is a really shy girl… she keeps a lot of thoughts to herself (most of her thoughts originate from a place of insecurity). She’s also a very awkward girl… insecure – like a lot of teenage girls. I was that way, myself. I don’t think that Kristen's portrayl seemed snobbish, at all. Again… Bella is shy. She isn’t bubbly or hyper. I was extremely shy in school. In fact, kids didn’t talk to me because they thought I was snobby. I was just a shy and pretty girl. Someone who might not understand or know a person like Bella might get the wrong impression of her... no matter what actress is playing her role.
  • Nicole
IDk why ppl think just because shes not jumping up & down doing Kart wheels that shes not happy to be Bella. She had a whole year of doing nuttin but Twilight & now that shes out promoting another one of her movies ppl get all mad just because shes not like OMG Twilight this Twilight that. I am a big fan of the series but I know that these are real ppl and they have their own lives to live. When she does talks about Twilight you can tell that she is very happy to be apart of it and it looking forward to doing New Moon.
  • Twilight Saga Lover
I totally agree. SHe is completely unappreciative!!! If she continues on like this, Stephenie Meyer and whoever is casting should consider dumping her from the Twilight franchise!
  • foxglove
she definitely is unappreciative - and i don't think she's going to be able to handle the serious acting that's going to happen in New Moon... her scene from the hospital bed in Twilight should state to all that she can't really act and should be rethinking her gratitude for being invited back... i say replace her with Olivia Thilby, someone that actually has the chops...
  • Debbie
I actually completely agree with you.

A lot of people did not enjoy her performance as Bella - personally, I had enjoyed it. I thought she had transferred Bella from the book to the screen almost with perfection. She is quite talented, and as you stated, straight-forward. That is one of the things I like about her person - she likes to say what's on her mind, and if you don't agree with it, that's fine. It's all about personal opinion.

But, in summary, I suppose what I'm saying is that she didn't come off ungrateful, snobbish, or even uninterested in this interview. It was at Sundance, for a different movie, Adventureland, with all of her other co-stars. You don't always want to be the center of attention, especially since there are other actors/actresses there with you. To me, she /is/ excited about this movie, but being at Sundance for a different movie that you've stared in is not the time to let everyone know the latest New Moon news, and how happy you are to be on set. No - you're mind is trying to settle on one movie, the one you are at Sundance for. I can completely (well, almost) understand why she reacted the way she did.

    So just leave her alone.
  • hisgoldeneyes
Wow Kirsten is really taking this role into her head. She's walking around like we need her when really she's extremely lucky to have the part as Bella. Can you imagine how many people would kill for where she is right now? She needs to get her nose out of the air before something bad comes out of it
  • Christina
while, yes, she may come off as ungrateful or unappreciative i don't think she is. That's just her personality. She has always seemed like a more serious person. She has never jumped up and down about being bella. She isn't that type of person. and truthfully i'm glad about it.

Twilight is a part of her life. Not her whole life.
  • just to say 1 she is never so excited in any of her interviews and thats ok it means shes herself and no one else 2 this is another movie she is trying to support and they r talking about twilight i mean i love twilight but give her a break it might just be over whelming for her 3 i think she is grateful for everything she is just not showing it.........yet but i know she will when it really starts helping her career 4 when new moon comes out she will be happy to talk about it cause she is supporting that role now and last i think she was a great bella she acted like her and well looked like her im not saying she couldnt be a little more happy about twillight but all im saying is give her a break she will be grateful when that time comes sorry for the rant tanks for listening lol sorry

I think the writer of the article is referring to her lack of enthusiasm in ANY interview not just this particular one at Sundance. I'm not bashing her at all, please don’t get me wrong. I just don’t feel any emotion from her regarding this movie (movies) like I do with the other actors. They all seem so grateful to be a part of Twilight and every now and then I’d like to see that from the MAIN CHARACTER. I didn’t have a problem with Kristin as Bella but there is something about Kristin’s attitude while promoting Twilight (which, again, made her very RICH) that rubs me the wrong way. I’ve said it from way in the beginning when MTV was on set. She just seems exceptionally put out when it comes to dealing with the public /press / fans. Maybe it’s just her age, maybe she's really shy or maybe she just doesn’t show a lot of emotion at all. I don’t know. It’s definitely something I’ve noticed and apparently I’m not the only one.
  • chicgeek
Hey, Kristen, you are doing a great job. My daughter acts a lot like Kristen. She is very quiet, intelligent, reserved, doesn't smile and jump around a lot like a cheerleader. The acting from the hospital scene was totally believeable to me, that is exactly how my daughter acts when she is very upset. Keep up the good work, your fans love you :)

Kristen is a bit rough around the edges but the fact is that no one knows what it's like to be in her position. I'm sure she knew that this was going to be big, but you can't prepare yourself to be thrown into this "britney" type fame. I'm sure it's been hard on her and she is very young. We should respect the fact that she's probably taken back by everything that has been going on and give her a chance to mature and learn how to properly deal with her new fame and status.
  • Jbrew
I don’t know, Chris. I mean, I can see what you mean… about the writer of the article and many (not all) of her other interviews where she may appear apathetic. Like I said, she is young and I wouldn’t consider her a giddy person. However, giddiness is not the same as passion. She is straight forward and serious. So yah, she’s not all smiles during her interviews. However, when I see her interviews… I see a different type of emotion and I see someone who is really dedicated to her craft and her projects. Why is it that – for some reason it seems – nobody is listening to her words? I don’t think she was lying when she said that if it weren’t for Stephenie, the fans of Twilight, her cast-mates, the crew and director… Twilight wouldn’t have been what it is (I think it was an MTV interview where she said this… or maybe it was at Comicon). If she were put-off by the public/press/fans, because of the type of person that she is, she would either say so – or just not take the interviews. She knows she is blessed to have this opportunity and she is serious about wanting the project to be successful. I see her more as addressing the public in a mature and serious way. She knows what the fans are concerned about. In this case… she was addressing the very recent skepticism about Chris being able to take New Moon to the same place as Twilight. She seems confident that things are going to go well and she wants the public/press/fans to know that. She’s serious about it, so pardon her, everyone (if you can) for not giggling and chirping through all of her interviews.

  • XOXOtania
i agree that something was missing from her portrayal of bella, but overall she was a good actress in the movie, she is there to promote ADVENTURELAND so back offf thats just how kristen is chill laid back so just give her a break, i couldnt see another person be Bella.
  • SAM
Your english is fine. i understood your point to the dot :)
  • foxglove
she definitely is unappreciative - and i don't think she's going to be able to handle the serious acting that's going to happen in New Moon... her scene from the hospital bed in Twilight should state to all that she can't really act and should be rethinking her gratitude for being invited back... i say replace her with Olivia Thilby, someone that actually has the chops...
  • ts
She can easily be replaced. There are lots of young actress that would kill to have her role.

  • kristenISbella
Kristen is a bit rough around the edges but the fact is that no one knows what it's like to be in her position. I'm sure she knew that this was going to be big, but you can't prepare yourself to be thrown into this "britney" type fame. I'm sure it's been hard on her and she is very young. We should respect the fact that she's probably taken back by everything that has been going on and give her a chance to mature and learn how to properly deal with her new fame and status.
  • Willeke
I completely agree with you. She's only 18 years old and I think, although she might seem ungrateful to many people, she did this professionally. I'd rather read/watch her interviews than some fake 'made' popstar or actor. And, as you said, she's still learning and growing up :). I'm sure that she'll learn how to deal with it later ^^.
  • Edward!!!!
I jst think that kristen stewart is very shy at what she does she does give all she can but in interviews she is way too shy
  • V-Cullen
I don't want her to be replaced because she looks how Bella should look in my opinion. But, the only reason I said her portrayl was lacking because some scenes where I thought she should have been smiling or acting a little lighter she was very dry. For example, the scene at his house where she says "I'm not afraid of you" she should've been smiling and the scene at the prom where she says "its enough for now" i thought it would have been better if she gave him a sly smile.

My perception of Bella when reading the book was that of course she was awkward, sort of loner, lacked confidence, but also had a cute personality with a bit of sense of humor. Bella in the movie didn't have a sense of humor, she was serious all the time.

Hopefully, it was just Catherine fault with the direction, because I think Kristen is a good actress.

HOnestly i do not want to see anyone being replaced at this point, it's just weird to see another face as bella after the first one!!
Anyway, i like kristen as bella, her looks fits the image very well, it's just what i had in mind when i read the books. As for her acting, I feel it's ok, I don't think she did a bad job at all, she is young and learning, she will get better and better in time. Cut her some slacks!!

I don't think she's being ungrateful or indifferent-I think she's saying that normally she wouldn't have any expectations since normally her movies wouldn't really effect people one way or another and she could just move on,(panic room? would anyone care one way or another if they didn't get it just right, would anyone notice? No she could just move on to her next film right?)) but this movie is a big deal and they have to get it just right to live up to the fans expectations. Really listen to what she' saying

Ok see I freaking new the second they casted her, she would eventually grow tired of it because of it's popularity. I have never liked Kristen Stewart. Ever. She is anti-passionate about every movie she's ever been in, incredibly unappreciative of the one she's in now and she almost always sports this "Whatever. I don't care. This is just the way I am." attitude and it pisses me off. I can't imagine every girl who desperately wanted to be Bella and had an honest love for the books and got rejected, and they instead choose to hire Kristen who's an indifferent "free-spirit" who tries to be so non-chalant about her movies like some sort of quiet genius. Kristen's just killing this whole thing for me. She's already made it clear that she is nothing like Bella's character, I know she has changed lines around to suit her apathetic taste and ultimately she is just coming off as incredibly ungrateful. I wish she would thow in the towel on this movie and stick to movies like "Cold Creek Manor" where she doesn't have to demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude for the movie because no one else in the world is. She needs to stick to Indie/Horror/D-Class movies if she's going to grow sick of a popular series. I get so annoyed when people hate something just because it's popular. She's a pain in the ass and undeserving of a role if she's going to be so unenthusiastic about it. Every interview she's done she sports the same mechanical, stoic, "Acting is a living, not a passion" attitude and I hope someone slaps her in the face. Taylor Lautner demonstrated the right kind of ambition and determination for something he really wanted. He was enthusiastic, extremely grateful, ambitious and unlike Kristen, he never failed to show his love for his character and his movie. So thank you Kristen, for deflating your already-lacking personality. Maybe instead of taking on one of the world's most popular book series, you should stick with your craptastic movies and make a sequel to Cold Creek Manor.

Hmm... I wonder if anyone ever thought of there being something more in the "system" than stuff from the "tabacco - pipe". Actors and actress are ready and able to hide addictions and no one person ever knows anything....or

Hmm...I wonder if she just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Busy schedules + high demand = early mornings, late nights, and little sleep.... or

Hmm...I wonder if she is simply lacking the education of etiquette when dealing with the public and interviews. In which case we can blame her agent for the lack of education. As it would be her job to inform and educate the actor to best promote her client. Like wardrobe changes.....or

Hmm... I wonder if it was simply the actress' way of showing her disapproval for the interview going off topic. She has contractual obligations to promote her movies and if your there for one and the topic starts in on another movie it can be looked upon badly. Unfortunatly, that is the press for you. They don't care......or

Hmm.....Maybe it was Cause and Effect. If you notice the way the writer started and titled the article. It was done to immediatly put you on the defensive to be offended and respond. If you really want to be objectional read her comments alone without the writers commentary. When you read her comments alone they don't sound negative at all. She simply implies that its become a working machine, big, important, and meaningful. Hence her comment to the script sensitivity and how everyone needs to be on the same page. If you throw a unneeded wrench or screw in the machine it breaks the machine.

My point is we really don't know what her state of mind is in regards to "New Moon" or any of her movie projects. Her attitude toward each one may just be her way of dealing with what are considered "stressfull work situations". Remember that s her 9-5 job and she like anyone else has to go into that job every day. It may not be a 5x5 ,grey ,square ,cubicle but its also not easy work when you consider they don't get to go home at 5 they are there doing that work for more than 18 hours. Yes, I agree she chose to do that job and you also chose your job does that mean your always happy with it? She would be considered in my opinion devotional as far as work ethics and contractual obligations. Trying to keep the attention on her current works with in thier promotional time frame. Could she use a little etiquette education and tack when dealing with public situations, certainly. You don't want to start a fire or add fuel to it.

I am newly obsessed Twilight fan and I want to know what is so wrong w/ her response? She seems to be very professional and knows what she is talking about. I'm sure she has enough common sense to be appreciative. Who knew the movie would be as big as it is?? The main actors went through what I'm sure was a wirlwind and they are very young still. I think she handles herself very graciously. Everyone should just calm down and not expect so much and then I'm sure we will be pleased with what we get.

You guys need to stop bagging on Kristen. You guy's are no Edward mind readers you don't know her, and neither do i, but it doesn't mean you guys need to go shotgun her down somewhere in an alley. I think personally everybody is upset because you were picturing someone better for her to play, you guys set your standards to high and were disappointed. She was a good enough actor for me, and i think she really did a good job on showing Bella, and letting her shine. Yeah you heard me? I like her, what are you gonna do about it? Sue me? Give her a break, she isn't an inhuman god, she is just human.

Neither Kristen nor Rob are fans of the books. They've made this clear. Rob once said, during an interview, that when he read the part where Edward is described as looking like an underwear model standing in the rain, that he closed the book and didn't open it again, He pinched his face and smirked, like it was the most ridiculous thing ever. The actors took the roles for the JOB, plain and simple, not because they were fans of the series. You know, I would get pretty sick of talking about it too, if I were somewhere trying to promote a different movie I was actually proud of and all they asked me about was a movie I hadn't even started to film yet! That being said, Ms Stewart should consider postponing her career to attend college. The girl is in DIRE need of an education, if nothing more than to be able to use vocabulary correctly and construct coherent sentences! Sorry, but it's true! Oh, and take a public speaking class for pete's sake!

WRONG. She did a terrible impression of Bella. She looked annoyed and irritated the entire film! And EXTREMLY stuck up! "Well Excuuuuuuse us for watching the MOVIE you're in 'Bella'!!!!" Her performance was less than subpar for me. I especially didnt like how she yelled at Edward. I didnt feel the chemisty there. It was so forced on her part. I toally got the whole "Edward adores Bella" thing, I agree with everyone eho said Rob did a great job. The only critique i would offer to him would be to not try to cover his accent so much. Yes, I know Edward is from Chicago, but Stephanie Meyer doesn write his dialogue that way and a little accent is sexy. I always hear it in my mind when I read him. But yeah, Kirsten needs work on her character. She's got the look and probably the talent, but I didnt see any of the latter in the first film. The Twilight Saga is VERY much a character driven saga. You lose the essence of the character, and you lose the story along with it. I have high hopes for the "New Moon" movie. I'm hoping with a bigger budget and maybe a different director, the movie may feel a little more like the book reads.

    This is German,the only True.
