Fellow TwiGuy Kaleb Nation is having an awesome contest to win signed copies of the Twilight Saga books, autographed by Stephenie Meyer. Plus, there are other great prizes like autographed photographs of Christian Serratos and Robert Pattinson. All you have to do it Subscribe to his YouTube channel–you might even want to Subscribe to our channel while you are at it, though you won’t win anything for that one except a virtual snorgle! Check out the video, and also visit Kaleb’s great blog TwilightGuy–if you haven’t already.
You may have heard rumors that Robert Pattinson won’t be contributing to the New Moon soundtrack–but fret not, he’s still working on music–in fact, he might just be releasing a whole album of songs! He aims to DIY–and keep it indie:
He reveals, “I might make an album but not through a record company or anything. I’d like to do something independent.
“I don’t care if people buy it or not. I’d just like to have it just for myself so I can work with good musicians and stuff.
“All my friends are musicians in London. They’re very talented. My best friend wrote one of the songs on the soundtrack with another friend of mine, this guy Marcus Foster who did Bobby Long.
I think self-releasing the album is a fantastic idea. With distribution costs being so low nowadays, he could self-release it on iTunes and release the physical album through a service like CDBaby. The only real costs would be the costs of recording and publicity–and I think he would receive more than enough plenty of publicity without paying a dime, since entertainment news sources and websites would cover it like a hawk. Go for it, Robert!
MTV has an update to the article we mentioned the other day about the best fake New Moon rumors–this time, ones collected by fans–among the doozies are:
You’ve probably heard that Drew Barrymore is rumored to be one of the candidates for director of “Eclipse,” but she’s also going to star in “Breaking Dawn”! She’s going to recruit Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz for the film, and they’ll play the Amazonian coven, Zafrina, Senna, and Kachiri.
Among the ones we heard here at NewMoonMovie.org were–Sam sez–
how about miley as bella, zac as edward, the jbros as the volturi, and vanessa as tanya. vanessa and miley have a cat fight over zac then zac starts singing “bet on it” when miley leaves him for jacob who will be played by judge judy. : ) and in breaking dawn they replace miley with jamie lynn spears : ) renesmee is played by a hairless cat.
and lovevampolves sez–
American Idol Judges will be in NM. Paula Abdul will be Leah, Simon Cowell will be Aro, Randy Jackson will be the new Sam, and kara says she wants her “perfect voice” in the soundtrack.
and lisaaa goes totally crazy and sez–
jackson rathbone to replace kristen stewart as bella…. edward falls in love with jasper, bella is edwards sister…. its a gay but hilariously funny vampire romance…
With all the proceeds of filming, plus the fans visiting after the movie is released, Oregon is bummed more than anyone else that New Moon is filming in Vancouver.
Vince Porter, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Film and Television estimates producers spent $20 million in the state. New Moon, which is reportedly budgeted at $50 million, up from the $37 million Twilight budget, would likely have brought in even more.
Porter says filmmakers were partly concerned that Oregon wouldn’t have the production resources to support two Twilight sequels being made back-to-back. The lower Canadian dollar also made filming in British Columbia cheaper.
It looks like a Harrison Ford film is of the major reasons that New Moon couldn’t film in Oregon, as it was eating up resources–
Then just as the film office was trying its best to lure back Twilight producers, CBS Films committed to film The Untitled Crowley Project starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Frasier in Oregon, eating up the state’s film resources and crews, he says.
Porter says the Crowley project, set to begin filming in April, will replace any money lost from the move and could bring even more spending to the state because producers plan to use more local film companies.
The casting for New Moon is complete …..but we don’t know a thing yet. According to live-pr:
The casting director for New Moon, Joseph Middleton, has announced that “We are finished with the casting process”. No details on the cast list has been released by Summit Entertainment.
The rumor mill has been on fire with talk of Madonna, Vanessa Hudgens, AnnaLynne McCord, and Dakota Fanning being hired for a coveted spot on the New Moon cast, however there has been no official confirmation of any of them being hired.
It’s great to hear progress is being made, and we hope to bring your more info soon!
4TNZ has gone totally wacky, and made a JoBros-style song for New Moon. They say–
The Jonas Brothers recently said that they would love to get in on Twilight mania by being on the New Moon soundtrack. Well, we figured, why wait? We came up with the perfect song for them to sing — and they wouldn’t even have to think of a new tune! Our friend Thomas Harling (not the JoBros, but just as cute), did the vocals. And we think it sounds awesome!
Hmm…..what do you guys think? Just check out the lyrics!
Nadya Vlassoff at The Deadbolt has written a fantastic article on the question of how Taylor Lautner will successfully portray Jacob Black in New Moon.Spoilers abound, but if you’re prepared, read the whole article for an in-depth look at all the challenges the film crew and Taylor Lautner will face in successfully characterizing Jacob Black on the big screen–
While the emotional role of Jacob depends on the interpretation of Taylor Lautner, the physical part of his role remains as the much larger question mark. It will have to be a joint effort between the production staff and Lautner in order for the physical changes that Jacob endures in the novel to transform to the screen. There are constant references to the ever-increasing size and strength of Jacob Black in New Moon, which will be difficult to film unless it’s done sequentially, which ithe normal route for filmmakers to take to safeguard the third act of a film first.
Aside from the human change of Jacob in New Moon, the werewolf transformation of Black also needs to be addressed. The Twilight film was criticized by some for its lack of innovative special effects and New Moon relies heavily on the idea of split-second changes and movement, which will require a great deal of movie magic. How will Weitz and crew go about shooting the mid-air transformation by Jacob? With such a tight shooting schedule – March 23 to May 21 in Vancouver – there looks to be very little room for error for both the production and Taylor Lautner in terms of fully realizing Jacob Black. Hopefully, since I’m actually based out of Vancouver, I’ll get to see some on-set activity.
