In what could be a scene out of American Idol, hundreds of people showed up for the open casting call in Vancouver this weekend.
Attendance was so strong, in fact, casting assistants had to cut off the line at 12:30 p.m., sending hundreds of disappointed fans home without auditions.
“This is more than we expected,” said Bim Narine, a casting assistant at Vancouver’s Aikins/Cossey. “It’s definitely a good turnout.”
The crowd, which ran all the way down second avenue and around the corner of Crowe Street, saw fans and aspiring actors from as far as Florida who had been waiting since as early as 5 a.m.
When casting assistants told the crowd at 12:30 p.m. that there would be no more people allowed in the building, they were met with arguments and tears.
“Take ten more people from out the door!” “Please let me try!”
Some people even turned on those that just made the cut.
“You guys cut in front of us!”
Rosanna Razor, 22, was one of the disappointed fans that didn’t get a chance to meet the casting director.
“It sucks,” she said. “I was here since 9 a.m. I came up from Seattle.”
Craziness!
Also confirmed is that the audition was, indeed, for New Moon–
Even though Aikins/Cossey wouldn’t confirm rumors that the casting call was, indeed, for the New Moon movie, the audition text, which blacked out any familiar Twilight names, was still recognizable to fans.
One script was pointed out as being the dialogue between Bella and Embry at the bottom of page 327 in the book.
