New Moon Vancouver Castin Call

In what could be a scene out of American Idol, hundreds of people showed up for the open casting call in Vancouver this weekend.

Attendance was so strong, in fact, casting assistants had to cut off the line at 12:30 p.m., sending hundreds of disappointed fans home without auditions.

“This is more than we expected,” said Bim Narine, a casting assistant at Vancouver’s Aikins/Cossey. “It’s definitely a good turnout.”

The crowd, which ran all the way down second avenue and around the corner of Crowe Street, saw fans and aspiring actors from as far as Florida who had been waiting since as early as 5 a.m.

When casting assistants told the crowd at 12:30 p.m. that there would be no more people allowed in the building, they were met with arguments and tears.

“Take ten more people from out the door!” “Please let me try!”

Some people even turned on those that just made the cut.

“You guys cut in front of us!”

Rosanna Razor, 22, was one of the disappointed fans that didn’t get a chance to meet the casting director.

“It sucks,” she said. “I was here since 9 a.m. I came up from Seattle.”

Craziness!

Also confirmed is that the audition was, indeed, for New Moon–

Even though Aikins/Cossey wouldn’t confirm rumors that the casting call was, indeed, for the New Moon movie, the audition text, which blacked out any familiar Twilight names, was still recognizable to fans.

One script was pointed out as being the dialogue between Bella and Embry at the bottom of page 327 in the book.

Wow!! That's a whole bunch of people xD. It's sad that some people, who had to travel a lot to get there, didn't get a chance to audition. I hope they found the right people for the roles :).
  • i see someone who would make a good member of the pack! (guy in white hat) looks good from here for the part of Jared... or paul even...

I just hope they have good actors/actresses to fill the open roles. Also, i am very p-o'ed to hear that Solomon and Krys might not be in New Moon.

Or it would be a scene from Canadian Idol, as the auditions were Canadian. But I wonder how many of those people showed up just because it was Twilight. It might have been like an Idol show if some of the people just wanted in with the Twilight franchise.

I just think that the Quilete's wolf pack should be NA.
For Taylor,at least he's still part of NA,& he's great as Jacob.
He made lots of effort to be in New Moon,so he deserves the role Jacob.
I'm hoping they'll take Salomon & Krys as Sam & Embry cus they're just great for the roles.
I mean,LA is where the movie industry is,shouldnt those actors make some efforts?
  • Whoa to the amount of people !

Maybe I am mean but I hope none of those people get it. Since the wolf pack are Native American it would only make sense to keep the current actors from twilight.

As a Native American, I'm really angry Summit is chosing to have casting calls in Canada. Yes I know the movie will be filmed there and Canada has Native nations but the characters in the book are NATIVE AMERICANS! AND yes it makes a difference. I also heard Summit is not going to allow the Native American actors who portrayed Quileutes in Twilight to return for New Moon and Eclipse. Let these Native actors keep their roles especially Solomon Trimble as Sam. There aren’t that many opportunities for Native actors so why deny us this opportunity? I’m also aware of Native actors who are qualified and have followed all the rules to be considered for some of the other Quileute roles and Summit is basically ignoring them. This is very puzzling because Summit claimed they spent amost a year trying to find a Native actor to play Jacob but couldn’t find anyone so they gave the role to Taylor Lautner. His heritage is French, Dutch and German but I noticed recently he quite suddenly remembered he had Native blood in his family. He's as much Native American as I am Martian. Exactly where did Summit look for Native actors? Oh I remember now - New York and Los Angeles! How about having a casting call where many Native Americans actually live – Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, or Tennessee, etc.!? I’m really angry they are going to keep Taylor Lautner despite the fact he is not the right size and age for the role of Jacob in the next movies. They are more than willing to spend big bucks on special effects to make Taylor right for the role but are not willing to do the same for Solomon Trimble and the other Native actors. I realize for Summit it is all about the money but for Native Americans it is about having the opportunity to honor their culture. Where is the respect, Summit?

American (the continent) indians AKA Aborigines/first nation people of Canada are more than qualify there's a lot of talent here don't be geographically picky

I agree with what Melissa said there aren't many U.S N-A ACTORS who fit the role there's a lot more actors here in Canada

  • Aww come on. Actors can be anyone. It doesn't matter where their from. So as long as they fit the characters, we're all good. [:

How many Native Americans are actors? That is right, very few. Summit has to improvise. So complain all you want, but it is hard to get the actors you want.
