Both my sister and I auditioned for it and we both got call backs. Hopefully one of us gets the part. casting icon smile Shannon & Shauna Baker As Emily?

What’s interesting is that they were both on the Tyra Banks Show recently talking about racism against Native Americans in Hollywood–a very pertinent topic as we’ve seen recently with the uproar over Native American casting in New Moon.

taylor lautner jacob black 200902101238 Taylor Lautner Doing Martial Arts on Television Taylor Lautner, who will play Jacob Black in New Moon, was in an episode of My Own Worst Enemy that first aired November 10, 2008. He played the son of the main character, who was played by Christian Slater.

The show was cancelled after nine episodes, but we wanted to bring you this clip of Lautner kicking butt while taking part in some extracurricular activities his parents didn’t know about.

And, in case you haven’t’ seen it–a much younger Lautner doing martial arts on ESPN in 2003.

TwiMom Sarah Clarke, who plays Renée Dwyer in Twilight, was asked a bit about her role as Bella’s mom during a recent TV Guide interviewinterview 200902091622 Sarah Clarke Hasnt Been Told Anything Yet About New Moon

TVGuide.com: Are you on board for the Twilight sequel, New Moon?

Clarke: You know, they still haven’t told me. They’re being so secretive about it. They know I’m doing press for Trust Me, so they haven’t told me anything yet. I think they don’t want anything to get out.

TVGuide.com: Have you read ahead with the other books to see what Bella’s mom gets to do?

Clarke: I have, and I know I’m involved, but the mother is such a strange role, I have to say. My instincts as a mother would never jibe with half the things Renee does.

TVGuide.com: We’d be worried if they did!

Clarke: Even with the first book, I remember reading that the mother was always on the phone, whining. What’s interesting in that? Luckily, Catherine [Hardwicke, who also wrote and directed Thirteen] gave me a lot more fun things to do, and gave us a real relationship. So that’s the big question for the second book, where again the mother is relegated to the phone. I don’t know if they’ll stay true to that.

TVGuide.com: If you as a teenager had to choose between a vampire boy and a werewolf, which way do you think you’d lean?

Clarke: Oh, I’d definitely go vampire. Werewolves are too hairy.

TVGuide.com: But wouldn’t the hickeys be worse?

Clarke: Maybe. But you could wear a turtleneck.

casting 200902090747 Phoenix Casting Call Experience

casting 2009020907471 Phoenix Casting Call Experience

Christa over at her blog, The Snarky Sparrow, has posted a great writeup of the open casting call in Phoenix for Native American actors for New Moon, including this great pic of a New Moon hopeful holding her casting card–

I was fortunate enough to sneak a peek at the Phoenix casting call for New Moon. [...] Everyone was very nice, and I really didn’t even get any looks for being there, even though I clearly didn’t fit the description of the casting call. I brought my real camera, so I guess that explained why I was there.

Registration took place in the lobby of the Phoenix Indian Center. It seemed pretty well organized. They seemed to be directing people very well for minimum confusion. It’s a smallish lobby and when I got there, there were about 100 people crammed into it. The people running the show were calling people in groups by age. I have no idea how many people were already back there auditioning. The atmosphere in the lobby was tense. I don’t know why, but I expected a sort of fangirl SQUEE. Nope, there was very quiet murmur considering the number of people. I didn’t see anyone practicing their lines or anything, unless they were doing it silently. Most people were talking to a buddy quietly. I didn’t feel free to walk around because it was so cramped, and because the mood clearly said, “Don’t bother anyone.” I took what pictures I could around the door where the light was best. It was pretty dark in there and I didn’t want to bother anyone with my flash.

Be sure to check out the rest of Christa’s blog too, particularly her hilarious post about seeing a “unicorn“–a guy who reads Twilight in public.
