Ok, I think we can all agree that even if the felt Bella’s Womb that a crafty fan made was certainly creative, it was also more than a little bizarre. I couldn’t get enough of your great comments on the post and decided to collect my favorites for everyone to enjoy:
Check out the funny animated GIF mixing Alien and Renesmee that commenter Walking Disaster posted after the cut. Warning: it’s a bit gory.
TDink has a revealing new interview with Billy Burke, who plays Charlie Swan–Bella’s dad and Chief of Police in Forks, WA. In it, he seems very self-aware of the acting game, kinda over it, and a bit of a dick but with a wicked sense of humor. That’s our Charlie! I got a kick out of this line–”Most of my youth was spent dreaming of being David Bowie and waiting for ski season to start.” Didn’t we all, didn’t we all. There’s also another gorgeous photoshoot from David C Lee, who did the recent take on Christian Serratos as well.
Do you feel like you relate to your character in Twilight?
Sure, a little bit. I feel like you have to be able to find a thing or two in any character you play that you can identify with, even if those things are not necessarily admirable. The self-imposed distance Charlie keeps between himself and others, most unfortunately between he and his daughter, is an idiosyncrasy I had to cop to. It is what spoke to me most immediately as I was reading the script. I’m hoping my own newborn daughter will help me get past and grow out of that bull@#!$.
Who or what inspires you?
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Seriously, I don’t mean to take the piss out of this question but as I see it, inspiration is a completely subjective concept. Anyone who says that they are consistently inspired by anything, will ultimately end up a liar. Inspiration by nature, is an accident. It happens when you least expect it and with any luck, when you most need it. Shame on me if I ever put the responsibility to inspire me on anyone else’s shoulders.
Check out this behind the scenes video from the shoot, as well:
We found an interesting tidbit on the blog of 18-year old Koa Orquia, who has auditioned for a role in the New Moon wolf pack. Apparently, Solomon Trimble and Krys Embry coming back to New Moon is very much up in the air if this post Orquia made a few days ago is any indication–
Solomon Trimble (Sam Uley) is seriously a cool kid.
After conversing with him for an hour or so, I’ve learned a lot about him.
All the rumors you’ve been hearing about Solomon Trimble not being casted as Sam because of his religious beliefs, are NOT true. Yes I believed those rumors too, but it was clarified in our conversation today that he would “Shave his eyebrows off” for the role again. And just so everyone knows, The rumor about him not wanting to cut his hair is false. He actually cut his hair recently.
So right now, he doesn’t know if the part of Sam is still his. He and Krys (Embry) have a meeting with Director Chris Weitz regarding there [sic] future roles.
Whatever happens, Orquia says he’ll find out by February 15th if he gets a part.
UPDATE: Check out some more info about Koa’s try for the part and the meeting after the cut!
Joss Whedon, the brilliant mind behind Firefly and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, totally gets the Twilight craze–unlike some other writers *cough* Stephen King *cough*:
TVWeek: Vampires are big in pop culture right now. Have you seen “Twilight’?
Mr. Whedon: I saw “Twilight.” And it’s—what can you say? It’s absolutely like crack. It strikes a tweener chord that’s just as loud as the apocalypse. You cannot deny the power of it. It just works. And I sort of like that.
TVWeek: What about HBO’s “True Blood”?
Mr. Whedon: I’ve seen less of it. “Twilight” makes its own rules, as we all do. It takes what it wants and discards the rest but ultimately, it is kind of classical. They’re puffy-shirt vampires in a sense.
Whedon’s new project, Dollhouse (pictured above), is premiering next Friday. I am a huge fan of Firefly, and I’m eager to see the sci-fi trickery of Dollhouse, in which “The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They’re then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds.”
Sounds fantastic. I know where I’ll be next Friday!
Oh noes! If you were looking to get the sweet Borders Exclusive version of the Twilight DVD that had the DVD extras you won’t see anywhere else, as well as the 10 exclusive photocards, then you’re out of luck….sort of.
Due to overwhelming demand, Borders has just announced that pre-orders through the website may be delayed till April 13 instead of March 21 if you pre-ordered after February 4th. If you got your pre-order in before that, you should be fine. But if you didn’t then you’ll have a few weeks to wait–or you’ll have to zip on down to your local Border’s on the day it’s released instead.
..in his upcoming film, Little Ashes. He plays Salvador Dali alongside Javier Beltrán, who plays Dali’s lover García Lorca. The Advocate has a great article about the relationship the men had, and reveals that in the film Robert Pattinson has some pretty steamy scenes–
Their affair became legendary, inspiring the new film Little Ashes, flush with dreamy scenes of Lorca (portrayed by the Spanish actor Javier Beltrán) and Dali (played by Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame). In one scene their young bodies swirl together under moonlit water as they share their angelic first kiss. In another, in the midst of an attempt at lovemaking, Dali, on the verge of being penetrated, panics. He abruptly departs for Paris, leaving the devastated Lorca behind.
You know, I think I saw a Robert Pattinson fanfic that went something like this.
