Looks like New Moon is making a big effort to find Native American actors and actresses. First, a three city search in British Columbia– this time, it’s Phoenix, AZ:casting 200902041010 Casting Call in Phoenix!

New Moon Casting Director for Native Americans, Rene Haynes, is holding auditions to find Native American teens. She is seeking young men 15 to 20 years of age, and young women between the ages of 18 to 20, for speaking roles in the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon. The auditions will be held at the Phoenix Indian Center.

No acting experience is necessary, just an out-going enthusiasm and the desire to be a positive role model for other Native Youth.

stephenie meyer 200902040904 Stephenie Meyer Too Much of A Wuss For Stephen King

Following up on our story yesterday about Stephen King’s slam on Stephenie Meyer, we thought this old quote was worth sharing:

”I just know I’m too much of a wuss for Stephen King’s books,” admits Stephenie Meyer, sweet-voiced author of Eclipse, the third book in her hugely successful ”vampire love saga” for young adults. ”I’m waaay too chicken to read horror.”

Is it just me, or is this Meyer’s really sweet way of saying “that dude writes some crazy #$@#!”?

Looks like Melissa Rosenberg’s statement that the cast is already on set wasn’t talking about the stars–and more likely just the crew and production support. Check out these pics of a groggy-looking Kristen Stewart taking her doggie to the vet in LA yesterday morning that prove Stewart’s not in Vancouver.

summit entertainment 200902031920 Summit and Lionsgate Unlikely to Merge Turns out that despite the rumors, EW says the likelihood of Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate merging are slim–

A source tells EW that those discussions actually occurred before Summit took the $37 million Twilight and turned it into a $340 million worldwide franchise. Now that they’ve got a real hit on their hands, Summit is going it alone for the time being, with the Dakota Fanning-starrer Push releasing on Friday, and New Moon, the studio’s Twilight sequel, scheduled for a Nov. 20 bow.

However, with the economic conditions being as they are, everyone in Hollywood is talking about ways to enhance their business strategically while simultaneously reducing overhead, so it’s certainly not out of the question that we’ll see some kind of changes taking place at various studios in coming months. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

volturi italy set filming news new moon shooting in volterra Filming in Volterra, Italy in May Confirmed! This just in! Variety reports that New Moon will be shooting Volterra, Italy–

Eagle Pictures, which released “Twilight” on Italo screens, announced on Tuesday it has re-upped with Summit Ent. for the sequel, specifying that “New Moon” will shoot in the ancient Tuscan city of Volterra in May for two weeks.

In Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling “New Moon” tome, Volterra is the town where the powerful Volturi vampire coven reside. Dakota Fanning is reportedly in talks to play a teen Volturi vamp, while “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are on board.

For a while it seemed that the Italy shoot may have been only in Rome. Be sure to check out our picture tour of Volterra so you can see why this is such awesome news!

stephenie meyer 200902031213 Stephen King Slams Stephenie Meyer: Cant Write Worth a Darn Snap! King of Horror Stephen King has some harsh words for the work of Stephenie Meyer, and says she’s not as talented as JK Rowling–

Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. … The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”

He then goes on to brainstorm why the Twilight series has been so successful–

But then King recalls that when his mom was alive, she read all the Erle Stanley Gardner books, the Perry Mason mysteries, obsessively when he was growing up. “He was a terrible writer, too, but he was very successful,” King says. “Somebody who’s a terrific writer who’s been very, very successful is Jodi Picoult. You’ve got Dean Koontz, who can write like hell. And then sometimes he’s just awful. It varies. James Patterson is a terrible writer but he’s very very successful. People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it’s not particularly threatening because they’re not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet.”

robert pattinson pattinsoncrazy Robert Pattinson Has Some Crazy Fans

If there’s any question as to why Robert Pattinson wants to stay out of the limelight, one need only look at this story about an overly-obsessed fan’s note–

Rob told OK magazine: “There was a group of girls that left little notes in my car, outside of my apartment.

“One of the first notes said: I’m not weird, but please call me.

“The next day the note said: Please don’t ignore me.

“And the next day it said I’m going to kill myself if you keep ignoring me! (but I’m not weird, ok?).”

Ok…
