Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Says They’re on the Set Now

Melissa Rosenberg, who penned the script for Twilight and New Moon, has shared a few new details, and confirmed others in an interview from Saturday at the Directors Guild of America Awards. The juiciest bits?–

“But at the moment, the part of Leah doesn’t happen until the third movie.”
Rosenberg also offered a few other insider tidbits about the progress of New Moon. “Well, you know Taylor Lautner will be back as Jacob Black. I can tell you the original cast will all be coming back. They’re on set right now, in Vancouver! They’re all up there prepping the movie to start shooting very soon.”

She also gushes about new director Chris Weitz, saying–

“Chris Weitz directed The Golden Compass, which was a beautiful-looking film,” Rosenberg said. “And I think it’s wonderful we have someone who has worked with CGI animals … that will be a big part of New Moon. I’m delighted we have someone who’s so expert at that.”

I am glad that everyone is back, but I am surprised that she said they were on set. I saw an interview with Ashley Greene and she had stated that they begin filming March 23rd, but who know maybe it changed. I just can't wait.

my guess is that the crew is on set, but not any of the actors yet... i think that quote may have been taken out of context. b/c seriously. if ANYONE of the actors stepped onto a plane (namely if Rob ever goes to heathrow airport) there are BOUND to be TONS of pics on the web! and i haven't seen any :)

I think People magazine fabricated some things or twisted what things were said because clearly, Melissa apparently said this at the SAG awards last week and we saw pictures of KStewart riding around in LA in her blue truck. Rob was spotted at Lily Allen's afterparty and at several pubs. Kellan and Ashley and a few others were at the Push premiere and yesterday Ash and Kel were at the playboy mansion. So if they were all in Vancouver, they would not be spotted all over LA and Rob wouldn't still be in his hometown.

I think you are right. I think she was talking about movie writers and producers and such...not the cast and people just took it out of context.

Hopefully they will be shooting extremely soon. It is a big weight off of my shoulders to hear that all the original cast members are going to be in New Moon. I almost had a freaking heartattack when i heard Solomon Trimble might be being recast.

I am excited to see what Chris does with the wolves. I thought the Polar Bears were awesome in Golden Compass. Visually - it was a great movie!!

but yeah i really do hope that Chris Weitz does an awesome job fer the werewolves...cuz these things gotta look huge and badass at the same time.lol.....cuz in the book the werewolves are described to be bout as big as a horse...and in eclipse jacob has to duck down kinda jus to look in bellas eyes.....so i hope they dont make em look retarded im really looking forward to how some of the effects are going too be played out.....so this so called "expert" needs too succeed or hes goin to have a lot of unhap[py fans.lol.....and we alll kno how many fans twilight has.haha

Golden Compass has been playing on demand for the past few weeks and I wanted to check it out just to see Chris Weitz work besides American Pie (love that movie!). Well, I fell asleep on the movie because it was completely boring, but I was soooo impressed by the CGI animals. They looked very REAL. There were small and large animals in the movie that had so much personality. After watching the movie, I know the wolves are going to look very IMPRESSIVE in New Moon; no doubt about it.

I am so excited to know that they'll start filming soon. Isn't the movie supposed to tentatively hit theatres in November, or something like that!? Maybe, they'll start filming sooner..lol. I hope Chris does a good job, because I wanna see the other two books made into movies. It would suck to see the first two portrayed in real life and not the best two books... lol. I can't wait, that's for sure.
