Of course there's room for comparison! Ugh… let's take two books: Purple Hibiscus and Where Angels Fear To Tread. PH is about a girl called Kambili and her abusive zealot of a father; it is set in Eastern Nigeria at the time of a governmental coup. WAFTT is about a woman who runs away to Italy to marry a dentist's son which causes a scandal amongst her in-laws. It is set in Sawston, England and Monteriano, Italy in the late 1800s/ early 1900s. Despite their seemingly massive differences, these books have a lot in common in terms of the themes of alienation and conflict between cultures.

See how comparison works? Certainly the Harry Potter series and the Twilight travesty are different – but not so much so that they are incomparable. Jesus.

I find it hilarious that your name is Carrie and you're dissing Stephen King [go look it up].

His writing is not sadistic. Just because it's a different genre than cliched romance doesn't make it twisted or horrible. I don't think Stephen King has any reason to be jealous of Stephenie Meyer because he's been a much greater success.

Um, what are you talking about? Stephen King has made WAY more money off of movies than Stephanie Meyer. Why don't you get YOUR nose out of the air and into one of his books? He an actually use descriptive language rather than the same repeated stuff that Meyer uses. And don't say I don't know what I'm talking about because I've read Twilight and I barely made it through without just giving up on it. And I don't think that any author in their right mind would 'diss' Stephen King. His movies normally don't go straight to tv and he actually had to WORK at his novels.

Stephenie Meyer had a dream about vampires and that's how the Twilight Saga began. Do you research! King has made a lot more money than Meyer and I can actually watch the movies his books are made into without wanting to claw my eyes out.

Go read the Shining or Salem's Lot and then come tell me Twilight it better.
