We’ve just received word that France and Belgium will be begin showing New Moon on November 18, 2009. In other words–sorry, New Zealanders, but you won’t be the first in the world to see New Moon like we believed initially.

France and Belgium will be viewing New Moon a full two days before the US! The French Twilight fansite Twilight France tracked down official confirmation from the distributor of the film in both countries–

Say wah!? In today’s WTF moment, Taylor Lautner has admitted that he is barred from dating until he turns 28–

“Twilight” actor Taylor Lautner openly admits that he is forbidden to date before he reaches 28 years old. To M magazine he reveals, “My dad says I can’t date until I’m 28. I’m definitely hoping to negotiate that one down.”

Still, Taylor expresses his gratitude for his father’s strict dating rule. “I realized that my parents were strict to make sure that I didn’t get a big head, and that’s a good thing,” he admits. “My parents brought me up to have respect and not take things for granted.”

Uh, weird. And I thought my curfew growing up was bad. Hopefully Taylor can negotiate something with his dad, else there are going to be a whole lot of dissapointed girls out there–and one very frustrated shapeshifter.

Times of the Internet has compiled some of the juicier points from the Life & Style article we posted recently. The article from Life & Style was challenging to read due to the quality of the scan, and this new article focuses on just how Jacob-centric New Moon might be:

Rob will be receiving much less on-screen time in New Moon. The story is centered on Bella Swan becoming friends with Jacob Black.

“I’ve got two scenes,” Rob said.

Team Taylor is set to take over the spotlight, according to young Lautner.

“I wanted to get Twilight over with, let Edward have his time with Bella and get moving with New Moon,” say Taylor. “It’s about time Jacob got in there.”

Taylor didn’t get to show much acting prowess with his tiny role in Twilight, but that’s about to change in the sequel.

“The part is more in-depth in the rest of the series,” he said. “When Jacob turns into a werewolf, it’s like he has another personality. He’s super intense.”

The official Twilight movie page added a tool yesterday to search for midnight release events for the Twilight DVD happening across the United States, but it left out our lovely friends to the north. The Twilight Examiner takes a look at the scenes that Chriz Weitz needs to make absoultely perfect in order for New Moon to be a success. Chief among them is the beginning of the book, with the birthday scene–

1. The Birthday Scene – In this scene, not only should we get a glimpse of the elated joy that the unbelievable experience of getting to know and be loved by the fantastic Edward Cullen and the Cullen family in general, but we should also see a very hungry, animated Jasper Cullen. When Bella gets her tiny papercut, we should see Jasper, a character who didn’t get much screentime in Twilight, deliver.

There are a couple more scene that author points out as crucial–

2. The Breakup – Yes, yes, as much as we all hated it in the book, it’s gotta happen. And I want to see tears, Kristen! Tears!

3. The Woods – When Sam Uley finds Bella all wrecked in the woods, we need to see some trauma. When the book says comatose, that’s what it means and I hope the director gives Bella some time to wallow before she scoots off to Jacob Black.

What other scenes could make or break the movie? I know we’re all hoping for the entire movie to be perfect start to finish, but in a film, sometimes parts of a book are shortened or chopped altogether for time reasons. If you had to prioritize, which scenes would you insure are absolutely perfect?

We’ve come up with a fun new event for Tuesday nights. It’s called “Twivia Tuesdays”, and will be hosted right here on the NewMoonMovie.org chat rooms. Tonight is the first night, so be sure to come! Each week a new Quiz Captain will ask a set of Twilight trivia questions, and any chat member is free to participate to try answering the trivia questions. The first to buzz in with the correct answer for each question scores the points–we’ll have more details on scoring tonight.

The fun starts at 8pm EST this evening, and should last for around an hour. We brought you the news that Bronson Pelletier was set to play a role in New Moon, based on a congratulatory note posted on his talent management firm’s website about a week ago. However, the note has dissapeared from the page–yet his name has been added to the confirmed cast of New Moon on the IMDB entry.

We’re not sure what to make of this development–did Carrier Talent Management spill the beans too early and get chastised by Summit into taking the news down? Or is it all a misunderstanding, and Pelletier wasn’t actually cast in New Moon? We won’t know for sure until the official cast list is released, but our money is on Carrier accidentally posting the news in advance.
