Peter Facinelli UK Twilight Convention NewMoonMovie.org reader Julie met Peter Facinelli at the UK Twilight Convention recently, and she had this interesting tidbit to share–

He talked to us about the script for New Moon and said he was happy with it. He mentioned his concerns at a man directing a story told from a woman’s (Bella’s) viewpoint, but how he was then totally reassured after meeting Chris Weitz the director. My favourite bit of insiders gossip that he gave us was one of the stage directions. In the New Moon script it says ‘the sunlight catches Edward’s skin and we see him sparkle’ ,it then says in brackets underneath (BUT BETTER THAN IN TWILIGHT) I guess they really are trying to improve the special effects!

Haha! Good to know that the New Moon team has a sense of humor about what went wrong in Twilight.

New Moon Italy Set Montepulciano Movie

Pierra DeTassis New Moon Italy There is a breaking rumor that the Italian scenes of New Moon may not be shot in Volterra–but instead in Montepulciano, Italy, which is 100km to the Southeast. According to a blog post by Piera Detassis, who is a veteran Italian film journalist and Artistic Director of the Rome Film Festival–

At lunch in Los Angeles with one of the producers of Summit Entertainment, responsible for, and now Twilight, New Moon, the continuation of the saga is from the books of Stephenie Meyer, the bomb explodes: Despite ads, previews and generous offers of all sorts by Mayor and City, the sequel vampiresco not running in Volterra in the places of the novel, but in Montepulciano, where the troupe has found location “to be the most beautiful film.” [autotranslated English]

[original Italian]

This has also been reported at the Official Italian Twilight Fanclub, and a reader at TwiCrack who speaks Italian summarizes the post–

they say that New Moon won’t be shot in Volterra but in Montepulciano because the locations are “more beautiful for the movie”

the source is the official italian fanclub of the twilight saga. They took the news from Piera Detassis, the director of the main movie magazine in Italy. she was at dinner with the producers of the movie when the bomb was dropped!

So, this is just a rumor currently–but considering the ongoing push by Volterra to have the film shoot there, the Italian location was always up in the air. This is despite the report by Variety that stated New Moon would definitely be filming in Volterra. Piera Detassis seems to be very well-connected in the Italian film world. We’ll have to wait and see, but things aren’t looking good for Volterra right now.

200903151431.jpgThe Vancouver Sun suggests shooting locations for the scenes of New Moon–showing just how versatile the city of Vancouver is:

Producers are revealing nothing of their plans for shooting the Twilight sequel New Moon. But they are here in Vancouver and they are shooting, under a fake name no less.

The reasons for the high security are obvious. Crowd control.

Reports that teenaged girls from all over North America are planning to travel to Vancouver for a mere glimpse of the production have been flowing in for many weeks.

The producers aren’t talking, but we aren’t hurt (well, maybe a little). But in the spirit of Canadian politeness and good business we’d like to offer the producers our suggestions for great backdrops for their bloody tale of chaste vampire love.

Check out the locations they suggest at the Vancouver Sun! [thanks, RaeIsSwitzerland!]
