200903271038.jpg Blue October rocker Justin Furstenfeld has high praise for New Moon author Stephenie Meyer, who sought out the singer/songwriter for a Breaking Dawn tour, after which they became quick friends–

“The music is part of my writing process. I could not do without it,” Meyers told the Los Angeles Times after a joint appearance with the singer at the University of California, Los Angeles, last summer.

“She called and asked my management if I would go, because some of my songs inspired her work,” Furstenfeld said. “We really bonded. Now we talk about once a week, and she comes out to the shows. She is a classy, classy young lady.”

Furstenfeld said they are enjoying each other’s accomplishments.

“I am real proud of her, and she of me. We keep each other’s spirits up.” He laughed. “We are definitely homies now.”

The tour, where Furstenfeld played acoustic solo versions of a few Blue October tunes, made him want to take his own writing to new heights.

“I was like a kid in the candy store, working with this talented novelist who’s sold something like 30 million books. ‘Oh, I am not worthy,’ I’d be thinking. But I think being around her brought my own writing to another level. Now I am not just some guy in a rock band, but a guy who strives to write really nice, literary poetry.”

I just can’t get over that Stephenie like this type of music. She is very diverse in her creativity and musical preferences, but then if you show a picture of her to someone, they would see a stereotypical suburban house wife. I guess I am just saying that you can’t judge people by their appearance. She is a wonderful surprise just waiting to be discovered. You would see her at a soccer game and expect the traditional “mom conversation” about school events and grocery lists and when you get to really talking she divulges her passion for writing and music. It’s pretty cool. I love it when people are well rounded! It makes our world a better place. I love the idea that she chats it up with her favorite band's lead singer while going around folding laundry and straightening up the house. I am not a huge fan of Blue October , but I definetely have loads of respect for Justin after reading this.
