Five Vampire Movies You Shouldn’t Miss

200903251101.jpgGQ, hot off a spicy covershoot with Robert Pattinson, has listed five vampire movies you shouldn’t miss if you enjoyed Twilight. I haven’t seen all of these, but I definitely concur with this recommendation:

1. Let the Right One In (2008)

Here’s why film buffs were buzzing about this Swedish horror flick last year: because the movie, about a 12-year-old boy who falls for the fanged girl-next-door, is composed of some of the most gruesomely beautiful shots you’ll never forget

Check out the whole list over at the GQ Blog. [thanks, Andrew]

It sucks! I spent my last money to see it at the cinema and I really regret it!
But then again, nowdays I compare all movies/books with twilight :3

    I LOV£ ROB£RT PATTINSON ( je suiis Francaise )
  • pamalita^^
    I loved these movie!!!!
  • pamalita^^
I saw these movie a few weeks ago and its great!!!!!!
  • It's totally weird. Interview with the vampire & Twilight are good stuffs.

It seems to me that FRIGHT NIGHT and INNOCENT BLOOD (with French actress Anne Parillaud) should also be on that list.

Let the right one in is a great movie, but the twilight fans are all girly and scream all the time, so you can understand why most twighters don't like it. WATCH IT, ITS AMAZING!
  • Heidi
lol Nice and rather accurate view of Twilight fans, although my husband is a fan of that movie so he might take offense to the screaming part, though he's a bit girly about it >.>... The book series was okay if a bit on the Emo side "Gee, I'm a vampire, but I don't want to *hurt* anyone! /cry" but the movie was just sad. I laughed more during that movie than during most comedies, and I'm relatively certain I wasn't supposed to.

Let the Right One In was fantastic!!! It's the uber-creepy, sick , version of Twilight. Great blood effects and the acting is superb. I cannot believe they got those performances out of 12 year olds. I left the theatre stunned. It's an indie film, so if you're not into artsy stuff, you probably won't like it.

Freaking LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the "The Lost Boys." Kiefer Sutherland rocks as a bad boy vampire and the Corey's crack me up.

I will say that "Interview With a Vampire" was great as well. I mean, Brad Pitt . . . Tom Cruise . . . . Antonio Banderas! Gotta love seeing those three together on the big screen.

ohh ohhh that one sounds pretty good... anybody seen it yet? I'm extremely curious!!
  • EdwardJacobLover
i LOVED the vampire movie "interview with a vampire" the one with tom cruise and brad pitt. AMAZING!!!!
  • GO SWEDEN! Haha, I'm Swedish but I haven't seen "Let the right one in" , I guess I have to do it now... ;)
  • hahha svergie, iam swedish and swedish movies sucks, but this movie, is like a sleepover movie oe how you write it :) and its not scary!! GOD you people need to grow up some balls :D
  • Susana
mm.. let the right one in is such a great movie. amazing shots..
like u guys said: beautiful/horror movie.
U wont regret it. :) if u like vampires..
PS: Not all vampires are "vegetarian".
    :)

Also, Queen of the Damned sucked! It was the worst representation of Ann Rice ever, didnt come close to the quality of Interview with the Vampire, and they didnt even have the real Lestat! AND, lol, they combin ed 2 books of Ann Rices into 1 movie, if you hadn't read the books maybe it didnt matter to you, but that movie was terribad!
  • Heidi
I have to agree with you, the movie was such a far cry from the book it was sad. The whole "romace" between Lestat and Jessie was so far off, considering they didn't hardly even meet in the book, except for a brief fling on the stage, until she'd already become a vampire thanks to her "auntie". I think the only reason it got so much attention was because Aaliyah died.
  • nataniasmom
Bram Stokers Dracula is, of course, amazing. I LOVE The Hunger. Lost Boys was awesome :) I will be seeing Nadja asap and started watching Let the Right Ones In last night, love it so far :)

And I highly recommend "Nosferatu" and "The Addiction" which is a very underground indie, black and white vampire movie with Christopher Walken and Lili Taylor.
  • Kristen's boyfriend
"Let the Right one in" is much better than "Twilight" (book and movie)
  • dulse
I love that "Lost Boys" was on the list.. it's one of my favorite movies of all times.. The corey's kicked a** in that movies... Love 80's movies...
  • i want too see it but idk
  • That film SUCKS. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT see it, its not worth it.
  • Alexis
Woho Sverige xD! I thought Let The Right One In was a bit slow at times but definitely a great movie worth seeing. But I think you should read the book first before you go see the movie. ;D
And don't see a dubbed version of it! At least that's my opinion. You should see it in it's original language, and I'm not just saying that beacause I'm swedish, it's beacause movies tend to lose some of their charm when you dub them if you know what I mean? Anyway I liked the movie very much and I think everyone else will to ;)
  • Heidi
That's true with Anime too, I'd rather read subtitles and listen to the origional voice actors/actresses than have to listen to the horrid voice actors they use to dub them.
  • Anybody
Queen of the Damned is another good vampire movie.
  • Lulu
I don't think I would be interested in any of these.
  • Just Erin
The book is a million times better than the movie (as so often is the case) - the film works very hard to be true to the book and no major points are altered, but because of time constrains (and possibly taboo material) much of the story is cut out - making character's motivations impossible to understand. I highly recommend skipping the movie and reading the book. The book is a play on victims and victimizes - whereas I think the movie makes you think more about manipulation.

I've heard Hollywood has already got its hands on it and it will be an American film in 2011.

I love the novel of 'Let the Right One In'. It's just so good!
  • nelli
I'm from sweden and I love twilight , but let the right one in most be the worst movie I ever seen, it suck's.
  • loveacloudyday
My sister saw it and didn't like it...too weird.
  • SoffeS
Sverige!...haven't seen it, feeling pretty sceptical about it, but I actually think I'm gonna see it now.

RustyHalo, my cousin recently mentioned something about that too, but I don't think so...I'm guessing he'll be too busy with The Hobbit.
  • RustyHalo
Ok, so I'm not the only one who's heard something like that, no matter.
He's making the Hobbit movie?!!! Excellent! Can't wait for that one.
  • RustyHalo
'Let the right one in' does look very good. I will definitely be seeing this one. The only other 'foreign' film I've seen was 'Pan's Labyrinth' and I thought that was an amazing film. Visually stunning also. I don't mind reading subtitles if the movie is worth it.
And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a rumor somewhere about the director of that (Guillermo del Toro) doing something with one of the Twilight movie saga's? Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong.
  • NoodleWolf
Couldn't agree with you more about Pan's Labyrinth. I saw "Let the..." and I thought it was really well done. I think you will enjoy -
See the original though - it's already been bought by the dude who made Cloverfield and there will be an American remake... not sure what to think about that.
  • RustyHalo
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look for the original. As for an American remake...I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that goes, but I would hope that they won't stray too far from the original. Haven't seen Cloverfield, but that's another I would like to see. Haven't really heard anything good or bad about that one.
  • SoCal Betty
What about Interview with the Vampire, that was a great movie! Those this list is good too
  • Maryann Bjordal
I agree Interview with the Vampire was great! Why isn't THAT on the list?!
  • Ellie
Heja Sverige :D!!! It really is a beautiful/horrible movie, and I love it!
  • RustyHalo
So I'm guessing you would recommend it? Looks good to me. I love beautiful/horrible!!!
    =)
  • Sia
I'm sorry but I DIDN'T NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE it was creepy and weird.
  • RustyHalo
Creepy and weird works for me. What else would you expect from a vampire movie?
  • lovevampolves
