I wouldn't exactly call it a tragedy. Dali found Gala who he called his true soulmate. They lived together well into their old age until she died following his death ten years later.

um... i won't watch it. I'm not one of those fan girls who will watch it just cause Robert's in it. It seems kind of funny to me and just by watching this little tidbit, it seems like more of a comedy than any thing. If i go watch it, me and my friends would crack up every single time we saw the mustache. so...yeah

Good lord -- he IS Dali. I mean, apart from a few lapses in the accent, that was spot on. And dang, it is SO not a comedy. I'm pretty obsessed with Lorca and his story is beyond tragic. I may be biased but Dali was a dick. Rob's got him down. I'm really excited for it.

Salvador Dali is an inspiration, stash and all. Rob did a good job of impersonating Dali and I'll be seieng it when it comes out.

"DO YOU SEE THE BEAR?" LOL. I was laughing through half of that and I'm not sure I was supposed to be laughing at it? His facial expressions were funny though! Dali was oh so eccentric in life though so Rob appears to be spot on in his portrayal.

Dali was manic and had some major issues personality wise. I will watch the movie because the character is so interesting and I definitely think Rob can do it justice.

I think he'll make a wonderful Dali because Rob is kind of a weirdo himself haha. My parents are both from Spain and I have to say his accent is terrible :( I can't wait to see this, but I hope I don't cringe the entire time.

He did this film BEFORE he got the job to do Twilight. This is pre-Twilight Rob! He is very talented . . . talented beyond the constraints of Harry Potter and the Twilight Saga.

he did both "little ashes" and "how to be" before he got the twilight role. they're being released now on the coat-tails of the success of twilight . . . which is really smart. i'm not sure how many people would have gone to see either without Rob's name behind them NOW rather than a year ago.

Rob is not going to be stuck as Edward! Salvador Dali was an eccentric, odd man. Rob seems to have him down. I'm so excited for him. I would love to know if there are any reviews of the movie yet. Does anyone know?

Ugh. Again with the random films I don't care about & will not be seeing because they are not about anything that would interest me or most people. As soon as it comes out he'll be plagued with 'he is gay!!!!' rumors. As if he doesn't have enough stress in his life. Poor guy. I wish he hadn't taken this roll. Also, has anyone else made a comparison to him getting naked in this to Daniel Radcliffe in Equus? I don't know why but that was the first thing to pop into my head as soon as I heard Rob was doing naked stuff in this one. Maybe being in HP got to them both? O.o' Just a thought.

Wow . . . that's a bit harsh. And he took this roll and filmed this movie BEFORE he even auditioned for Twilight. While I respect the fact that you don't think this movie is up your alley, many people are interested in history and historical figures . . . Dali being one of them. It is a very tragic story as well.

He's already been called gay in the media . . . and it's simply laughable. This is what I'm talking about with fans causing undo stress on actors. He is not and should not be stuck in Harry Potter/Twilight type films. He has the right, as a person and an artist to take whatever kinds of rolls he sees fit. It is not our job (the fans) to babysit him and/or try to protect him from the big, bad world.

I personally think this could be an Oscar worthy performance. It's major and I'm very glad he took the roll. He's got real talent .. . not just a pretty face.

This shows how diverse he is as an actor and he's showing everyone that he's not just Edward Cullen! And I cant wait to see both films, now all we need is for them to be released in the UK Lol

You are right as usual Twete76. I shouldn't judge the movie just because I dislike the person it is about. I've had to do reports (back when I was in high school) about Dali & just never liked him. I'm sure Rob will do a wonderful job regardless of the subject of the film. He is a wonderful actor & if he can learn to deal with his fame I predict he will become an iconic actor who wins lots of awards like Oscars. Good luck to him.

Also thank you for reminding me to be objective with my opinions without being rude. I really do appriciate it. That is one of the things I love most about Twilight fans is that most of us are really cool, down to earth people (even though we all have our fan girl moments, lol). ^_^

It's hard to see someone we love in a certain role (ie: pattinson as edward) play a character that seems so unlike him. The cool thing about Pattinson is that he seems to take parts that do challenge him and aren't "in the norm.". All I could think when I heard about him playing Dali was "WOW, this kid really has balls.". (pardon the pun). Sure he makes one hot vampire but what's so freaking cool about him is that he is obviously sooo much more!!!

I love the Twilight fans for the most part as well. I just think sometimes our (mine included) judgment gets clouded by the love and passion we have for the books. Heavens knows it's easy to do!!!!

I can't watch it. The little clips of this looks like he did great with the character but I dunno anything about this Dali fellow. Anyhoo the things him and this other dude do physically just turns me the wrong way. Straight men shouldn't play gay. I mean come on why won't they let gay actors play these roles. Rob is too hot, and as a woman that thinks he is hot I could think of better things for him to do than make out with another guy. ? It freaks me out, I can't watch Rob sex it up with a guy. LOL

I'm sure they could have found a gay actor for the role, but the director made the choice to cast Rob. Why? Probably because of why most actors are cast... The director saw him as being best for the role.
I also believe that Rob is hot, but that doesn't mean that I won't see the movie merely for that reason. Give the guy some credit. He wanted to take a role that would be a challenge and that would help him grow as an actor.

All I can say is wow. Rob's performance is amazing in this movie! And that's something since I can say that over just a 4 minute clip. Plus he made me laugh in a few of those funny moments and the faces he made. He is amazing. I can't wait to see this movie!

He's just trying to grow and strengthen his range as an actor, something that (as mentioned above!) good actors do. I remember reading an article somewhere with Kellan talking about wanting to play a really complex character like a drug addict or something. That's similar to what Rob did with Little Ashes. Don't hate on someone for merely trying to better themsleves!

A.M.E.N! It's sad how some can't see Robert as the talented actor he is rather than the character he portraits. He plays one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century and by all accounts pulls it off! Actors like Al Pachino have shown interest to play Dali (in other movies). This could be Oscar material and some have the nerve to complain he kisses a guy in the movie? Every actor should challenge himself to play roles that are very different from other roles they played and from themselves because THAT is what acting is all about. I say BRAVO for the guts to take on this role at the age of 21, put in all the amazing hard work to get this complex character and make it work on screen.
I'd rather see him in something like this even if it's controversial than a repetition of "pretty boy" roles.

I can understand that this maybe isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that some people are not interested in history or art themes. I really get that...but this is just ridiculous. He is an actor playing a role. He isn't here to satisfy our own personal fantasies.
I am still appalled that most of them don't even know who Dali was, and they even think he was Italian...I'm refering to comments about his "italian accent".
We must face it, most of Twi fans are under 16. I'm 23 and I must say I am ashamed sometimes that I am a fan because of thoughtless comments that apeared recently...most of them are "Is he playing a gay guy??!!!"...and that is literally all that they are interested in connection to the movie.

Uhmmm, I'm under 16 and I know who Dali is AND I have gay friends. People out of there teens make statements like that too. I'm not angry or anything, but I've seen a lot of comments (not on this particular subject) on how the "fans under 13/16 etc" are making the ones making these rude assumptions.

The movie looks interesting and they did a good job making Rob look the part. The accent is kind of off, but it looks like he may have Dali's eccentricity down. I have to piggyback on your comment.....Many moons ago, I wrote a paper on Salvador Dali and his works, focusing mainly on his painting, the dream. I completed this as a final paper, and as dreaded as it was for me in the beginning, I actually took an interest in his artwork and enjoyed learning a great deal about him. My appreciation is that art was his passion. He tried to portray this to the world not only through his paintings but with they way he lived his life, regardless of circumstances.

I'm a die hard Salvador Dali fan and I must say, Rob really does portray Dali pretty well. The accent was spot on and Rob was able to emulate Dali's pretentious swagger quite well. At first I was afraid this film would put a damper on my image of Rob as an actor because Salvador Dali is so close to my heart, but this clip has exceeded my expectations! Major kudos to Rob for being both the sexiest man ever and an amazing actor!
