Montepulciano New Moon ItalyNew Moon will be filming in Montepulciano, Italy from May 25th till May 30th, if a post on the official Italian Twilight fan site is to be believed. The site is in Italian, but essentially the post says that they were contacted by the Montepulciano tourism board confirming the news in order to organize all the Italian fans that will be swarming the production.

NEW MOON IN ITALIA A FINE MAGGIO!

Val I am visiting Montepulciano on Nov. 14th to do a wine tour. Can you tell me where exactly in Montepulciano the scene was filmed? I am meeting my tour guide on Via Ricci, 11. Is that near where the filming took place. What other sights would you recommend in Montepulcaino

Ok, my dad is in the Navy, and we are stationed in Italy. And me & a few friends were going to be in Montepulciano on May 25-35, and were wondering if there are going to be any spots open for EXTRAS? & if so when would the tri-outs be?
  • Yey :) Although the scene is in Volterra in the book, I think Montepulciano suits the film better.. :) Both towns are very beautiful though.. I live in Florence, and I'll be definatly heading out there in May. :)

Well...Volterra is ot Montepulciano and doesn't has enough building to stay in for the production, I konw that the production of NM stay in a old medieval buolding for logistical decisions...But all the town around Siena are very similarm maybe they can do a kind of mix btwn the 2 cities!I'm so happy, 'couse I live near Montepulciano and i'll defenitly go there in May!!!

    I'm more and more surprise...
Volterra is a beautiful city I don't understand why they finally chose Montepulciano.
Actually, maybe it's just a feeling but I think the saga is becoming more and more commercial. that sucks
  • Val
It's because the castel in Volterra is too old to have movie equipments & all....
  • sarah caine
i will have to check out the ice-cream, maybe they will now sell a twilight flavour, lol

    Oh no.

That town is so small and so precious.

Filming a movie there is going to destroy it.

I guess you're right. I just really want them to make an amazing movie. But I am sure they know what they are doing - if five days is all they need, then that's great.
  • IndiesR
Maybe Chris Weis is just that good of a director, he doesnt need more than 5 days to get it right. LOL. But I think all they will be doing is the clocktower scene, and rest of it can be done inside the studios :)
  • MireilleMasen
5 days doesn't seem too short. In the movie they'd probably be outside for 5-7 minutes. All that happened outside was Bella running through the plaza, the festival, and the clock tower everything else was underground or at the Volturi's place right? They don't need a lot of time in Italy.

They could shoot the inside scenes in the studio. Italy is a major part of the book, in my opinion is the best part!
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Awww man... I was really hoping that they would do it in Volterra to stick to the book, but this place also looks beautiful =]
    Let's hope 4 the best!
  • marika
YEAH... finally I can say: I'LL BE THERE.... I live in naples but I won't have problem to go there... I'm checking a good Bed&Breakfast.
  • Bianca
I'm considering to go there, as I live in Austria, which is next to Italy.
So I'm happy that there finally is a date, hope it is true =)

oh I envy you living in Italy. I was in Montecatini and saw Volterra from a distance last summer. It is so beautiful there. You are fortunate! Your country has a magnificent history. I will remember that trip fondly all of my life! You take good care of our favorite moviestars this spring, eh? Ciao!

If only I was an actor and could be in it dont we all wish.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would have been cool in Volterra to saty true to the books even more but it still looks like a clocktower none the less.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • sarah-holland

Oh I totally overlooked that they are filming for only five days. I guess they can film some things in studio, for example when they talk to Aro and the rest, it can be in a studio.
Oh and yes, of course. We still don't know who will play the Volturi..except for Jane. I relly want to know who Aro is, and Felix also.
  • stephanie
OMG it's just while i'll be for my holydays in montempulciano(i' m french)...yes!for once i'm lucky!!!

Yay! they are going to bew filming in Italy on my Bday =]... 2 bad i don't get a brake until june =/ would have sooo went ... maybe =]... i wish they would film in volterra... it's amazing from what i've seen in pics.... i guess it's probally pridictable that they aren't filiming in volterra bcuz that's where we'd think they would be filming though lol.. but montepulciano seems to be excellent and as long as the movie is good im happy...
  • I tink 5 days is enough, when you see that they are only in Italy for 1 day in the story, we only really need to see, Alice and Bella in the car, Bella running through the square to Edward, the confrontation between Felix and Jane in the alley, and then them leaving after being in the big room with the rest off the Voturri. I suppose being in the room doesn't need to be filmed there cos they could do that in a studio. oooh excitement!!!

Also some of the scenes towards the end in the book is indoors which can be done in studios.
  • CullenFan
That's what my thought was too. Really all they need is the big plaza scene, the yellow porsche, the clock tower...almost all the volturi stuff can be done on a set.
  • razjaz
I think we have to remember that it is only a very small scene in the book, so if the movie stays true to it they won't need very long to film it.
  • nomesters
what do you mean small? the whole thing with the volturi seems like it would take a while, although maybe they aren't filming the volturi stuff there
  • nomesters
it still sees like that would take more than 5 days to shoot.

Yep, it really seems too short, but I hope that they can do it in 5 days. 2 weeks would be better.
  • nomesters
2 weeks would be like 300% better. Not sure why it is only 5 days, although I guess there is a lot of prep time not accounted for,
Now I have a question that needs to be answered WHO WAS CAST TO PLAY THE VOLTURI!!!!
