During the lazy weekend, I was Googlng the interwebs and happened upon this wonderful column that was written last year right before Breaking Dawn came out. If you haven’t read it, do so–it’s a treat–it manages to compare The Twilight Saga to an ’80s favorite, The Lost Boys . But be warned, it does have quite a bit of spoilery material. Here’s a small excerpt–
You might say her profound humanness is her superpower. And it’s also, of course, what makes Bella irresistible to readers everywhere, who identify with her and thrill at her brushes with doom in equal parts. (The hordes awaiting “Breaking Dawn,” the latest book in the series, hitting stores this weekend, are at least as thirsty as Edward on his worst day.) But instead of making her monsters evil, Meyer has given them a touch of Bella’s weakness so we can put ourselves in their places too. While TV series and comics have long played supernaturals for camp (see “The Munsters,” “Bewitched”), Meyer understands there’s no true meat to her tale without Bella, Jacob and Edward’s agony alongside their amazing skills—and no humanity. Bella, like us, is flawed and irredeemably normal. But being blessed with superpowers can be a bummer too.
Stephenie Meyer offers her own original take on life—and the afterlife
Want to to bid a Stephenie Meyer-signed copy of Twilight? How about a Robert Pattinson-signed Twilight poster? Or, how about front-row tickets to TwiCon in Dallas during the cast sessions? There are tons of great auction items like this, and they’re all ending tomorrow, Sunday, March 8th in support of Team Shari, dedicated to a TwiMom who is an active member of the Twilight community and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Proceeds will go to help pay for her medical bills and recovery.
Check out all of the amazing auction items at the Team Shari Auction Page, and bid before it’s too late! Some items only have bids in the $15 range, so don’t be scared off by the big-name items mentioned above–there is something for everyone!

Finally some official casting info! Summit has sent out an email revealing that Dakota Fanning will indeed be playing the part of Jane in New Moon. The email states:
Acclaimed actress Dakota Fanning has officially joined the cast, and will play fan favorite Jane in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
What do you guys think? Good choice? Bad choice? Sound off!

What a week for Kristen Stewart interviews! She’s promoting her new film The Cake Eaters, and MTV was sure to address New Moon questions as well, no doubt for damage control concerning her recent bad press–
Stewart: I look forward to all of it. We’re just starting prep on “New Moon,” and it’s almost like a more elaborate version of the first one. It’s getting bigger and bigger, which is great. I mean, it’s what we all hoped for.
MTV: When you were doing press for “Twilight,” you made a point of saying you couldn’t read “New Moon” until it came time to shoot. So have you read it now?
Stewart: Oh yeah, we’re heavily entrenched. We’re in the middle of it. We’re in the midst.
MTV: Summit recently announced a release date of June 30, 2010, for “Eclipse.” Some fans say it’s too close to the “New Moon” release date in November. What do you think?
Stewart: I think they should come out as soon as possible. I think it’s better that they’re coming out on top of each other. I mean, you could think of it, like, maybe you should tease people and give it to them maybe a year later. But I think the stories are so directly attached to one another that it’s good that people aren’t going to have so much time in between to forget about it.
‘Twilight’ Will Just Get ‘Bigger And Bigger,’ Kristen Stewart Says
4TNZ has created a clever use for Facebook that ties in with Twilight. You upload the graphic above to your Facebook page, then add tags on each face for the friend that best matches the description. This could be a funny way to tell people what you really think. 4TNZ says–
We made this web poster for you to download to your computer (left click on it with your mouse and then choose “save as” to put it on your desktop).
Then you can upload it to your Facebook page and tag your friends as each character! Who’s the most Alice of your BFFs? Or, better yet, who’s the Jacob?! Oo la la.
And if you don’t have Facebook, no prob! Just send it to your friends anyway, telling them which character they are most like. Soon, your whole posse will be full of vampires! (Watch your neck.)
Tag Your Friends In “Twilight!”
Boxwish has an article detailing the success of YouTube user tiffanyd666′s with her fantastic New Moon trailer:
The popularity for this trailer is unprecedented, with it becoming the 93rd most favourited clip on the site and the ninth top rated clip in the Film & Animation category. And there’s no questioning tiffanyd666’s devotion to the Stephenie Meyer novels as her profile page is chock-a-block with Twilight fan-mania. Her favourite music is Brit rock band Muse, a credited inspiration for Meyer with their anthem “Supermassive Black Hole” a fantastic backdrop to the Cullen baseball scene and her favourite books? Take a wild guess.
What may surprise you is that this YouTube phenomenon isn’t made by some Hollywood mogul with an alias, but is actually made by a 19-year-old Australian named Tiffany. And with over 10,000 subscribers and over 3,500 on her friends list, we’d hazard a guess and say people like her trailers.
I’m a huge fan of Tiffany’s work, and all I can do is add to the applause–kudos!
