First of all, as a Spanish teacher let me say that for an actor to be willing to take on the HUGE task of trying to portray Salvador Dali is VERY brave and amazing.

Salvador Dali was one of the strangest people to ever live on this planet. He purposely went out of his way to become as crazy as possible. Yet, this is why is art is so incredible.
Playing a gay person when you are straight is (or a straight person when you are gay for that matter) is hard enought, but when you have to also show all the weirdness of Dali, it is a tremendous task.

The movie about Frida Kahlo was a little bit the same, fascinating but at times difficult to watch. She was also a difficult person to understand sometimes, too. I sometimes had a hard time watching the Kahlo movie.However, these are accurate portrayals of these artists' lives. They had difficult lives and were very different from other people (to say the least), but that what inspired their art.

Will I totally "enjoy" this movie? Probably not. Will it be fascinating to see this actors play the strange lives of this real life geniuses? Very.

However, it is not for everyone.

If you are younger than 18 and know nothing about Dali and Garica de Lorca and don't want to know, don't go see this movie. If a raw performance about these mens' lives is going to be difficult for you to watch, don't go see this movie.

However, if you are wanting to see Rob play a person that is NOTHING like he really is and be amazed at his performance because you don't even recognize him, this is something you should see. Remember, it is Salvador Dali you are watching, not Rob Pattison and not Edward Cullen. Be mature and realize that when you watch "Little Ashes" and do NOT listen to the gossip rags.

I agree Dali was probably on of the strangest people on this planet, maybe the strangest. He was totally fanscinating and one of the best artist of the 20th century.
And yeah if you're not interested in Dali, Lorca, Bunuel...don't go to see the movie. I've heard that people went just to see nude scenes with Dali and Lorca which is so lame.
But even if you don't know anything about him, go to wikipedia at least and read. That way you'll understand all the photos that are going to show up in the future when the movie is released. You'll understand what kind of person Rob plays.

I must admit I giggled a bit when I saw the picture, it is normal and that was my initial reaction...but I think it is sad that sites like Perez and such are using this picture which is totally torn out of context to get more hits. At least they could explain something about Dali and his sexuality because there are a lot of people that just don't know anything about him, they just see Rob with his pee pee tucked in.

So true. People have to remember that Little Ashes is a film for mature people...about mature stuff. Art is very complex (especially Dali's work) and because of Twilight, little girls are going to sneak into this movie and 1) totally not get it and 2) be super freaked out because R Pattz it naked. I won't lie...it will be kinda weird for me too but I think it will definitely earn him respect as an actor.

Dali was an odd, eccentric man and from everything that I have seen and read, Rob is playing him to a tee. I think it's art at it's best and I cannot wait to see the movie. I agree that it's wonderful to see Rob as an artist in ways other than his role as Edward.

However, my first thought was that I wonder if, when he played this role, he would have done it if at the time he knew how big he would be now. He has said that some of the scenes in this role made him uncomfortable, it leads me to assume that he may be embarrassed by the number of fans that he has now, flocking to see him in this role.

He deserved major respect as a artist for this role.

I really don't know what to say, LOL... he's is a wonderful actor, and will be praised for this roll probably as much as the Twilight Saga. Just look at what a homosexual roll did for Heath Ledger, (RIP). Rob already is one of the best up and coming actors...I see him as the next Johnny Depp. A little odd, completely georgeous, and able to dedicated himself to any role and make it look easy!

First, I must say that I find this photo to be a beautiful work of art. Robert Pattinson is more than just a gorgeous face- he is also a truly talented actor. I don't see what the big deal is. He's an actor playing a part and if this is what the scene called for, he was into his character. Maybe he was out of his comfort zone for this part, but that's probably part of the acting profession. It is what it is. He was being Salvadore Dali, not Rob Pattinson. And I happen to think he's a very good actor. Also check out the "How to Be" trailer to see how different he is there. I also think he's smart to take on these completely different roles to show his versatility.

i couldn't agree with you more seminole. i didn't look at the phot either, just caue i don't want to look at him in a certain way fot the rest of his career, i want to value him for his acting. it's not fair the way the media follow them around and attack them, they are trying to get on with their lives, and the media goes and makes up storys about them-fake stories, at least post real stories not just rumors.
the acting part would be great, it's the rest that would put me off acting as a career.

He filmed this movie before Twilight and had no idea he would become famous. He said he took the role just to get a trip to Spain and was very uncomfortable with some of the scenes.
Rob is a very talented artist and I think it's great to see him in an artsy film like this.

The still is quite... disturbing for those of us used to see Rob looking hot hot hot, witch he definitely is!!! But I've seen loads of clips from the movie and it doesn't hit you so bad because you’re getting all of Dali's kookiness!!! And Rob is brilliant he really steps outside the box with this one!!! And the romance with Garcia Lorca... they so capture the chemistry that should be there for to persons that are really in to each other!

well, this is not just about Rob, its a movie about Salvador Dali.
If you don't like Dali then of course you will not like this movie.
I do not think that people that just love Rob or just love Edward or Twilight should see this.
This movie is an artistic piece about an VERY eccentric, little bit out there, highly intelligent, gay artist.
And Rob does a phenomenal job of portraying that artist.
I am a fan of Rob and I am a fan of Dali.
Twilight and Edward and Harry potter have NOTHING to do with this.

I agree with Nataniasmom.... the movie is not about Rob. When you watch this movie, reguardless how you feel about Dali, it's going to show you what an amazing actor Rob actually is. Twilight and Little Ashes are obviously 2 completely different roles. All I'm saying is, reguardless how odd, seeing him in other roles, and portraying them perfectly, will just make me have that much more respect for him as an actor! He's great.... and like I said before, I really think he's our generations Johnny Depp. I mean look how odd he is, but he's still an amazing actor, and he's absolutely georgeous!

Wow. That's all I have to say. I, like many other Twi-Hards, only wanted to see Little Ashes because Rob is in it and it would also be a good way to learn about Spanish culture. OH MY. I am of age, so I clicked the link. Frankly, I expected to see more (aka Eveeerything.) So yeah. Thanks for the cute wolf video, it helped. I don't think the truama has set in yet, but I know I'll have to take the enormous cardboard cutout of Rob out of my room so I can sleep tonight.

Lol I am of age and man was I happy I was. The picture didnt make him look drop dead gorgeous. There was one part of his body that I wanted to see a little more of..mmm...wait where was I? Oh yeah! lol but it made me appreciate him more as an artist. Now I really want to see how he portrays this artist and his crazy life. I love how we all support (on this site) RP and his decisions. Love ya Rob, keep it up!

First of all , I must say that I'm surprised by all those mature comments. Honestly, I expected young teenage girls filling this page with comments that are not even worth to mention. And that's exactly what we don't want to ear about. I am glad to see that there still are people who don't go grazy every second they think about Rob.

We all agree that Robert Pattinson is such a great actor. He has a REAL talent. The thing I regret is that people only associate him with the Twilight movie. I know, his performance in this movie was awesome. But still, people should go further than the vampire thing, and see him as Robert Pattinson, not Edward Cullen. I hope that the Twilight phenomenon (and especially overreacting fans) won't discourage him to leave the acting business.

Becoming Salvador Dali must be one of the hardest role an actor could do and he seems to handle it so well. It takes a lot of courage and of course, talent, to play it. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've seen so far his performance looks amazing.

Finally, I must say that Robert Pattinson is really an outstanding actor.
RP, we love the work you do. Just keep acting and impressing us !

I think Little Ashes is for people that understand Spanish culture or just want to know more about it. Spain is blessed with lots of amazing artists and I think it’s wonderful that this is a movie about Dali. The movie has not yet been released here so I haven’t seen it yet but I did check out the Trailer and Rob seems to be playing the part just right. I am a Robert fan but that is not why I would go see this film. I think all most people (especially younger fans) will not grasp the actual performance.

I get quite emotional when great acting is portrayed on the big screen. Robert having chosen this role simply tells me that he is not just a young guy looking for a job but he has a lot of depth. This is obviously not an easy role to play as it deals with many strong themes.

I can’t wait to see it and admire Rob’s bravery. Art is so complex on it’s own that this movie will enlighten a lot of moviegoers. I hope people that think the Twilight actor is only teenage material should think twice and go see this movie

Round of applause to the mature responses on this board, Yeah I know we have to deal with some air headed comments now and than but what can you do, this world inhabits the stupid people to, and we can't stop stupid people from posting in here, all we can do is pity them. I'm not suprised that Dali was a weirdo.

But I agree that parents shouldn't take their kids to see this movie this just for adults.
