What Scenes Must Be in New Moon?

200903081850.jpg Amanda Bell over at the Examiner is quickly becoming ones of my favorite writers on all things New Moon. Just recently she hit the nall on the head on the balancing act that Chris Weitz will have to strike in New Moon, and today she has a lovely article summarizing the scenes the fans want in New Moon if it hopes to be a success. I love the way Amanda describes each in such vivid detail. Here are my favorite three of the scenes she describes–(WARNING: SPOILERS!)
  • Break-up – After Jasper’s near attack, Edward becomes estranged from Bella, and it is heart-breaking to her even then. I dare not describe here what the scene entails for fear of sullying it with my own unworthy descriptions. Let’s just say that the conversation between Bella and Edward which leads him to depart, to the fans, needs to be spot on. Gut-wrenching as it was in the book, you say, so it must be in the movie. You also want to see the disappearance of all things Edward, as promised, from Bella’s possession (another factor which rips Bella Swan apart in the story).
  • Motorcycles – Enter Jacob Black and his mechanical skills… not to mention Bella’s motorcycle. Bella, you say, needs to be there while Jacob builds those motorcycles. Bella has a scheme to make Edward’s voice return to her – get in as much danger as possible. Oh, Bella… This is when she gets to know and trust Jacob, though, and Bella is reintroduced to the world, at least in part, and when we get to meet the La Push community. The playfulness and serenity, you say, should be seething from Bella in these scenes. Oh, and we get to see Bella go head first over her motorcycle in a fairly major car crash that she is hardly shaken by (Edward’s voice numbing her senses, of course).
  • Showdown Alice versus Jacob – In the book, Alice and Jasper have a verbal spat over who’s the better species. Should make for a very interesting scene.

Be sure to check out all 15 scenes on the two-page article.

fyi, you made a typo, go re-read the last one

when jacob takes bella home after the movies the last thing he says to her in that scene is that he tells her that she can always count on him but then he starts ignoring her.
i think that needs to be put in the movie too.

  • Oh and I almost forgot the meadow with Laurant!
  • I really hope all the important scenes form the book are there. The Birthday party when jasper tries to eat Bella(Lol), Edward acting weird and then the Break up, leaving Bella in the woods and Sam finding in a catatonic state, the depression, the bonding between Bella and Charlie the movies with Jess and hearing Edwards voice for the first time, the motorbikes, Jacob fixing them up in the garage, Jacob going through the "Change" and then ignoring Bella, cliff-dive-it's the most important turning point in the book, Alice coming back and the stand off between her and Jacob, And the conversation betwwen her and Charlie about how Bella was when they all left. Jacob begging Bella to stay, on the plane to get to Edward on time, running through the square to the clock tower, Edward thinking he had been killed and joining bella in the "After Life", the Volturra, their way back home, the bedroom scene Where Edward tries to convince Bella she's awake and explains himself and most importantly the Vote! DID I MISS ANYTHING???? LOL. I dont care if it's 3hrs long I want to see it all. And I have every faith that Chris Weltz will deliver an amazing film, and it will be so much better than the first!

  • Yes. Yes. YES. Cliff Diving. I'm not going to look forward in a lot of scenes in case it's not added in the movie. But I am definitely looking forward to the ecstasy of the cliff diving. Robert's voice is going to be lingering in my head for nights right after I watch the movie. Hopefully it will stay there XD I don't know, NM might be better than Twilight :)

I totally agree. I really want to see these scenes.
Hopefully Chris Weitz will be a better director and actually KEEP the scenes that are important or vital to the story. Seriously.
  • kendall

I think the scene where Bella, Jake, and Mike go to the movies is essential. It's pretty short, but it's a defining moment in the book and I really hope they don't change it too much.

They just better stay true to the book period! It needs to be nothing more or less than that. Can't wait for the release. I really do have faith that this one will indeed be better, even the cast is more excited about it with the scripts.
  • 10 year old Alice Cullen
I should probably mention that I`m 10!! Okay, I`m gonna jump right in.The movie stunk! No, matter how much we all want to believe it was good, we all know the truth, it was awful!! When people talk about the meadow scene, all I can think is what meadow scene?!! He followed her into the woods behind the school!! Then, they fell in love way to quickly!!! Geez!!!! The deleted scenes, oh my!! In the old scene in Edward`s bedroom, (or should I say room) was stupid! The journals were pretty cool. But the rain stick. First of all, you don`t talk to Edward about chinchila droppings, and she did not have anything but a goldfish. Also why in the movie did they go on a field trip instead of doing the blood typing scene. The tree thing when he jumps out the window was not in the book, it was stupid, it should not have been in the movie!! That reaIly made me MAD!!!! Don`t you think the scene where she almost was smashed by the van could have been more accurate. She didn't even hit her head and then they talked about it like she did. The restaurant scene could have been longer and better, it didn`t even show the waitress flirting with him. That was pretty ....important. It showed how he did not even care about anyone but her. So much could have been done with so much more accuracy. New Moon better be better.
  • i hope the movie is really good i also have very high exceptions for it i know it will be good and i hope the scenes in the movie r like the book

Okay, i agree with what was said about the break up scene, but i really think that the other top scene is the entire volterra scene, and bella's jump.those also have to be spot on so we can really get the essence of new moon from this movie.
