Laurent Materializes in the Forest

This scene is important for so many reasons. We learn that the fiery vampire Victoria is planning to avenge the death of her mate and turn Bella into vamp food, but not before torturing her for a while. We also find out that Laurent has fallen off the veggie bandwagon and Bella is looking like a big slab of human bacon to him. We get the satisfaction of hearing the now-departed Edward in Bella’s head again and our theory that werewolves are real is finally confirmed.

Jacob and Bella’s Near Kiss Experience

We apologize ‘Team Jacob’ fans. We know it must break your heart to even think about this moment. Bella and Jacob are so close to wolfing out, but in the end, Bella is a one vampire woman. Plus, it’s the major turning point in the story! It wasn’t totally Bella’s fault. How could she have known Alice would see her drown? And for that matter, how could she know that when Jacob answered the phone, it would be Edward and not Carlisle on the other end? Well, she did watch Romeo and Juliet about a thousand times. That might have given her a hint as to what was coming next.

    I think they need to really stick to the book (except for adding the "ghosty" images of Edward, not just his voice). The Twilight movie was what got me to read the books, but once I read them, there was so much meat missing from the movie. I think the birthday scene, the walking into the forest and the break up, most importantly, the scene where Sam finds her, scenes of her those first couple months on auto pilot, the banter between her and Jacob, (especially the age war), the garage, the motorcycles and ER trips, the attack scene in the meadow, the movie theatre, the scene where Jacob says goodbye and Billy tells her to go home, Jacob in her room & her dream about who Jacob really is, Her cliff jump and being saved, the almost kiss, & phone call, Alice reunion, the plane ride over, the race to save Edward, the underground and Aro, The plane ride back, the bedroom reunion, the talk in the woods, the dining room table meeting and his proposal in her room. It just will not be New Moon without those scenes. They are ALL so vital to the plot. I really hope they don't screw it up like they have with the Potter series... KEEP TO THE BOOK, THAT IS WHY WE ARE ALL SUCH FANS!

    Bella doesn't deserve Edward or Jacob. End of story. She is just too greedy, wanting Edward just cause he was good looking and Jacob as her best friend. She should have made up her mind sooner. I'm not being cruel but they should have left her and got better girlfriends and Bella goes out with Mike or something lol! Not that I hate Bella or anything don't get me wrong. I like her a lot as a character, but she needs a human because she is one. I know she is "different", whatever find a different guy which is human. I guess it would be a crap series if it was: Bella falls for the misunderstood school emo!

    I do need to see Bella & Jacob's reunion since oops I don't really remember it actually.
    The almost kiss: I wonder how they'll show the internal turmoil in Bella's mind at that time, the whole 'I've not decided if I want this yet'. And of course the tourist-y snack has to be there! It shows how much danger they're just escaping and who the Volturi really are. And the proposal scene, well that's not really the real proposal scene yet but it's the first mention of engagement and it shows Edward's determination and it sets up lots of things for the storylines to come.

    What I'd like to see too is the time in the waiting room in Volterra, when Edward & Alice are talking and Edward leans in from time to time and kisses Bella's hair and face.
    And emotionally speaking more than in terms of single scenes, I want to see how depressed and dead inside Bella is after the break-up, how she holds onto Jacob to keep her sanity and go on with her life and how he's there for her, supporting her, and the sense of dread, danger and urgency as well as the suspense when Bella drops everything to go save Edward and throughout the Italy scenes.

    I know . . . . I'm kinda tired of people calling it "the proposal." His actual proposal was in Eclipse. He talked to her about getting married in New Moon but it wasn't really the big one! And it does need to be in the flim because it foreshadows what happens in Eclipse.
  • In a way I don't class it as a proposal, more like an ultimatum, it wasn't until Eclipse that he done it properly, I still think it should be in New Moon because it's the start off something big, but I don't want to see him down on one knee, not yet anyway LOL
  • agree I wouldn't want the proposal as a full blown proposal but all the converstations about why he wants to be married before giving into her demand etc all need to make sense in eclipse. If this doesn't happen then eclipse won't be the same either.

    I totally agree with this list but one more scene i want to add that needs to be in there is when bella wakes up and she thinks she dreaming, then that she is dead and Edward has to convice her that he truly is there and is never leaving again. I really hope they include this quote
    "You’re not asleep, and you’re not dead. I’m here and I love you. I have always loved you and will always love you. I was thinking of you, seeing your face in my mind every second that I was away. When I told you I didn’t want you , it was the blackest kind of blasphemy” –Edward.

    Good list. I hope Jacob gets fair treatment...I can't bear to see New Moon turned into an Edward Cullen lovefest...as much as I like Edward, Jacob is very important in this story as well as Eclipse.
  • ALSO, They BETTER put the part when Mike, Jacob, and Bella where in the theatres watching the scary movie and Mike gets sick !
    and then right after, while they're waiting for him in the restroom and Jacob sits on the bench in lobby and pats the seat for Bella to sit next to him and he puts his arm around her ! AHH I imagined it to be sooo cute !

    Also, I don't remember what part it was, but when Bella gave Jacob a high-five and Jacob interlocks their fingers together ! AHH I was sooooo happy I screamed lol

    I was definitely rooting for Jacob in this book !
    This is my favorite book out of the 4.. Eclipse is right behind it because I loveddddd it when Jacob kissed Bella finally and she pictured herself having his BABIES !!! LOL

    I too think this is a good list, but you of course have to include the proposal AND the vote with his family of whether or not they want her to become one of them I'm surprised no one has mentioned that!! What I want to see more of is the more "subtle" things if you will, like how Bella reacts every time they kiss, her hands in his hair, crushing her body to his and he has to physically pull away from her and she is left hyperventilating. How he holds her under the blankets when they are in bed, stuff that isnt BIG per say as a scene but that really pins down their relationship and just how in love they are, I think thats really important.

    MichelleMM, if anybody was annoying in that book, it was Bella hands down. I wanted to slap her backwards so many times throughout this saga. Jacob was one of the most realistic characters in the series outside the wolf thing. But I get his whole perspective totally. He was so funny and very sarcastic, which I loved not to mention candid. While so many people view Jacob as bad or irritating, they fail to see he loves the same person Edward does. That is his whole focus until Breaking Dawn, that is why he is so persistent after New Moon because she did fall in love with him too, she just didn't realize it. It's just that Edward came first and already decided he was her soul mate. And I do believe they belong together, Jacob needed someone with personality and spunk like him not Bella.

    I agree with you to an extent. I do feel for Jacob. He was used in New Moon by Bella. But she chose who she wanted, and he knew in Eclipse that she wouldn't leave Edward. He really bothered me in Eclipse. I liked him in New Moon for being such a good friend to her, even though he knew she was grieving over Edward. Kinda hated him in Eclipse (although he proved some great comedic moments). And then developed a newfound respect for him in BD. And I do AGREE that Jacob needed someone else besides Bella as his "love." She is way to serious and "dark" for him!

    Ohhhh yea.... I agree w/ that article... those scenes NEED to be in the movie, YES!
    I want them to include the scene in the airplane when Bella drinks all the coke she can (though she has low tolerance for caffeine) just to stay awake and appreciate all the time she has w/ Edward... oh and the scene after Bella wakes up and Edward is there w/ her and he gives her that "meteor" speech... oh gosh that HAS to be in it or I'll cry... that was one of the most beautiful scenes ever... awww I can't wait, man!!

  • i laughed so hard reading the tent scene because you could completely imagine what was going through jacob's mind and poor edward sitting in the corner not able to do anything. Makes me laugh every time I read it!

    The best part to me is when Bella wakes up after Italy in bed with Edward there and he has to convince her she's not dreaming and they have those kisses and that long talk about how he can't exist in a world without her. Awe, I'll be disappointed if they don't give us all the Edward and Bella moments at the end from the waiting room in Volterri where he's holding her, to the plane ride where she refuses to fall asleep because she doesn't want to miss anything with Edward before he leaves her again (or so she thinks), and when he carries her into the house in front of her enraged father and then the talk in her room where she still thinks she's dreaming and that he doesn't want her. I had to reread that part over and over.

    Totally agree that is when we see jake phase the first time it is a must.... but a scene i hope is in that might not be is the garage when embry and quil show up.... and the little fight where jake threatens his friends! not important but cute and funny.

    I'm not sure why you found Jacob annoying in New Moon. He was her friend, her sun in New Moon. He brought her back from a very dark place and made her live life again. I think it is fair to say that he is annoying in Eclipse, but not really in New Moon.
  • I agree. Jacob was the perfect friend in New Moon. Yes, he did want more. But he understood that if there was to be "more" he would have to wait. And I think he would have waited forever. He thought, and so did Bella, that the Cullens were not coming back. In NM, he knew in his heart that she would never pick him over Edward.
    I just reread NM. And I started to cry my eyes out when Bella was leaving w/ Alice to go to Italy and Jake was basically begging her to stay. To pick him, it was so sad : (

    Now Eclipse .. yes .. totally annoying! Although Bella is annoying in Eclipse as well lmao

    I hate reading New Moon and I've read it 3 times. It sat on my night stand for 2 weeks before I read it the second time and them I carried it around in my brief case for a week before I read it the third time. I find it sad for all 3. Edward knows he needs to leave her but doesn't want to. Jacob ends up falling for Bella and gets his hopes smashed. And Bella loses both of them to an extent (because her relationship w/ Jacob will never be the same after she leaves with Alice). It's tragically sad. :(

    And then there is Eclipse.....LOL. All 3 of them are flawed to an extent in this book. But that conversation is for another day!

    I found that reading the partial draft of Midnight Sun made New Moon even more sad. Because you really know/understand the anguish that Edward was feeling. And you know that him leaving wasn't random, it really didn't have that much to do w/ Jasper (thats just what set him off). He was striving towards this, but fighting it at the same time. He didn't want to go, but he wanted to give her the best life ever.

    Jake .. oh Jake .. truly my heart goes out to him in NM. He really was the reason WHY Bella came around. He brought her back to life (so to speak).

    I have one image, forever stabbed in my brain, which has to do w/ BD. After Jake thought Bella was dead, how torn he was .. going down the stairs, wanting to "take care of" (thats the nice way to put it) Renesmee .. and I can perfectly picture that beautiful baby girl leaning over Rose's shoulders .. w/ those big brown eyes .. just staring at him. I always have that in my head for some reason .. random, i know... :P

    Yeah, Mid Sun is a major education in why Edward does the things we all hate in New Moon (and Eclipse for that matter). Oh to be in the mind of the vampire!

    You know....that part in BD is pivotal. He has every intention of getting rid of Renesemee and then there she sits! That little darling.....it is a really cool moment!

    Wow . . . maybe not immature men and women . . . but I know several mature male and female adults who are friends. And he was her friend, but he fell in love with her. He hated seeing her hurt in New Moon. Give ME a break.

    Yes. Jacob is sort of annoying but when you think about it the book wouldn't be what it is without his persistence or annoyance. Overall the list looks pretty good
