Oh Galaxy, I thought more of you....
The Twilight series isn't a 'saga' so much as a cashcow trainwreck piece of illiterate rubbish. Add to this that loads of fans of the series panned Breaking Dawn as the insane doorstop it is (OMG it's totally NOT gross that Jacob falls in love with the baby with the stupid name because she's totally going to grow up like, RLY FAST) then we come out with a worthy award winner.... how, exactly?
  • lookmeup
wow....... there is a saying if you dont have anything nice to say don't say it

    Children book award or not....AWESOME!
  • sarah
great it really is but it beat the tales of beedle the bard????
    :(
i'm sad for tales of beedle the bard now!

I am glad that Stephenie got some kind of recoognition for this AWESOME piece of writing but there is no way this book could ever be considered a children's book. Now that I think of it NONE of the books in the Twilight Saga should be listed under the childrens book category. Having these books listed as a children's books gives parents a greenlight that these books are acceptable for all ages and for those of us who have read them and know the content involved understand that thats just not the case. PARENTS BEWARE

Breaking Dawn is my favorite but it is no way a children's book, what who said it can't be filmed? In what planet are you living in? If they can make a movie out of Watchmen, which according to some it was never going to be made, who says Breaking Dawn can't just because you had trouble reading it or didn't like it does not mean it can't be made into a movie, can you imagine the Saga ending in Eclipse what a crock that would be? where alot of the things take place in BD other than the sex.

    Jacob accepting his Alpha role
    Edward finding peace with himself
Bella getting her wish of becoming a vampire
    The confrontation with the Volturi.

Like I say to the critics, you don't have to sit down and watch it. But I'm sick and tired of those forcing their views on others.

    Children's book?
    Hmm..
Well at least it won an award!
    Deserves it!
  • My thoughts exactly Lizzie. Weird....but congrats to Stephenie anyways!

I just looked at the past winners of the Children's book award and some are 'Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman' Francesca Simon, 'Flanimals of the Deep' Ricky Gervais and 'The Gruffalo's Child' Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler. These are all obviously kid's books (I read Horrid Henry in Year 3/4!) To me BD is not a Children's book, more a young adults or teenagers. But nevermind, I'm happy that it won!
  • mimi
Also I was looking at shortlist for the Children's category and they all looked like children's books, except for BD. I have read more than half of the books (prequels) in Primary School.
  • Lucy_Twerd
so glad breaking dawn won :)
i just got my twilight, because i live in the UK
im gonna go watch it now :)
  • Sophiiiiiiiiiiii
WHOOO! Balaxy has amazing taste! Litrally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • rachael k
    whooohooooooooooo go stephanie :)
but i agree with everyone .. BD is definitely NOT a childrens book -- i prob wouldntr even let a teen under 13 read it .. mostly because of the sex thing and the Graphic Renesnee conception and birth scene ..
hey im 30 and some of the scenes were an eye opener to me and i pretty much have seen it all lol ....
  • Marta
    ouu, that's nice. :)
  • NdnWmn
Wellllllll, I am happy for Stephanie Meyers...but I agree with everyone here (for once)..."Childrens book" What the heck??? I keep saying, this book may of been about teenagers, but to get it, you better be a very mature teenager...No offense to anyone, but I have a couple teenagers in my house...They say the same thing...I also agree, that when they film Breaking Dawn...if the follow the story...it would have to be rated R or whatever the rating is just below that...I don't care, I am over 17...don't have to worry...YaY!
  • NuttyNetty
*What I Put Below is Filled with a Ton of Sarcasm and Spoilers*

Oh, i can definitely see how it won best CHILDRENS book with practically the whole story line involving sex, drinking blood out of a straw, biting a baby out of a womb, asking your worst enemy to sleep with your wife so she won't die... and did i miss something? LOL this is a crazy award... who gives these things away? haha

anyway i am happy for Stephenie in getting any sort of recognition for her writing even if it doesn't always make sence =]
  • crookedsmile
You missed waking up from her first sexual experience covered in bruises and begging for more and her new husband rushing her home from their honeymoon to terminate her pregnancy! My eyes were almost popping out of my head reading BD! The word Children and this book shouldn't really be in the same sentence LOL!

I myself did love the book in all its wierd glory, however.

Okay I know this is random, but I really want Breaking Dawn to be made into a movie.
  • Sarahsitas
I don't. I have no idea how they will translate it to the screen. I was cringing enough as it is just reading the book.
  • Jujita
Bravo! My favorite was the middle section told from Jacob's perspective.
  • twifan
seriously? that was the hardest part for me to get throught the first time around. hmmm
  • ZTATwilighter
Yay. Congrats Stephenie Meyer!!! Breaking Dawn is my favorite book. But i really wouldn't consider is a "Childrens Book". lol im just saying.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Woohoo 4 Stephenie... BD really deserved it =]
I'm so excited... I love BD!!!
  • robpatty
I am reading it again now. I love it. Congrats!!!
  • Chelsea
Wow. Great job beating out Harry Potter, Stephenie. I guess the UK might label its books differently. They probably classify YA as Children's. Because otherwise... uh... yeah. XD Oh well. Great job, Steph!
  • Tracy
I agree with alot of you, I am very happy for Stephanie but best childrens book, I don't think so I am 28 and there is no way I would let my 10, 11 or even 12 year old read Breaking Dawn, It is definatly rated R it is sensual and graphic and hot in some places. Good for Stephanie but I wish it was for best book of the year instead!
  • Thrilled for Stephenie. But have to L-A-U-G-H at the most mature of the series being called a "children's book"! Not in MY house! :)
  • RedPawn3592
AWESOME! i'm glad she won, J.K. Rowling had her turn. GO STEPHENIE!
  • swellbells
    Whoo-hoo! LOVE IT!!

But uggh, children's book?? Seriously! They need to read it and then try to call it that...
  • mrs. cullen
AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I AM SOOOO HAPPY SHE WON!!!!GO BREAKING DAWN!!!!!
  • Stephanie
"Children's" refers to non-adult books, YA and kids included. Don't take it so literally.
  • Heart shaped locket <3
wow out of every twilight saga book, i think breaking dawn is the least children-like of them all......actually scratch that. NONE of them are children's books

but im glad it wont =)

i read it like 5 times, i love it =)
  • HeatherEl
YEY! though i am slighlty annoyed you didnt post this sooner...i sent you an email on Friday when they announced the winners...

    still really good though :)
  • HeatherEl
And dont forget it won against J.K.Rowling's 'Tales of Beedle the Bard' or whatever it is called! It makes it SO much better! And Stephenie Meyer was also nominated for Author of the year, though she didnt win that :(
  • MsOrange78
    Children's Book?
  • IndiesR

Congratulations Stephenie Meyer!!!! That is so awesome! You deserve it!
  • Ali
^hehe i know but this is pretty cool! :)
  • 30yearoldtwifan
I agree Agua! I mean I'm happy for Stephine of course! but "children's book"? I mean my daughters 8 and I would never let her read breaking dawn! I dont think she would even understand it.
  • Although I voted for Stephenie to win this award I still wouldn't say it's a Childrens book. My daughter is 8 also and I don't even think she would have the ability to read it, and even if she did I still wouldn't let her. Even when she's older I would wait until she is at least 15/16.

But I'm pleased that Stephenie has won!
  • kristen_cullen
did they seriously say "best CHILDREN'S book?"
    that's hilarious.
  • AQUA
hahaha kool im so happy she won !!!!!!!but childrens book i pictured it rater R cuz the honey moon even if that part wasnt too visuall if kids read it they would be like HUH??? feathers and i dont think parents would like to explain hahahaha and the really bloody birth of their kid i think that was way too bloody even for a book... thatz why i say hum ??? Childrens book i think is mosly a young adult book or an adult book for me thatz the only book in the series that should be rated R but watever congratz stephenie I LOVE BRAKING DAWN!!
  • basketbal255
in the stores the bok is in the sectio of yong reader !!
  • mickey_lamb
breaking dawn was my favorite of the series!!!
no way its a childrens book though, it more than PG-13
this book is so long that the movie will have to be, like 4 hours! lol i dont care though i just want it to be good since it was my fav!
  • mickey_lamb
congrats stephanie! thanks for the books!
  • 1_Katie_0
I loved Breaking Dawn, too. Especially Jacob's point of view! The book was just awesome.
By children's book it means, non-adult books and young adult books.
Though I agree that BD should probably be rated R if it ever hits theaters, I think they'll stick to the PG-13 rating. I'm not trying to start anything, so don't yell at me for "comments", but isn't Stephenie Meyer a Mormon? Don't they (Mormons) usually avoid movies rated R? I'm just wondering, because I've heard that, and if it was true, then she couldn't go see a movie that went against her beliefs, even if it was her own book-turned-into-movie.
  • twifan
yeah, it seems as tho it is going to have to be a rated R movie. how can you get around the bloody scenes, the honeymoon, and all the inuendos? i have no idea how they will pull off this movie if they try to, but it is an AMAZING book. i've read it 3 times.
  • marie
the entire saga is r-rated all of those hot scenes, hot kisses btw Bella/Edward, specially Breaking Dawn. I would love to watch the movie, i would be interesting if they do it in 2 movies, more time with the saga.
  • go stephanie breaking dawn was my fave book and im soo happy it won this award go breaking dawn and congrats stephanie u really deserve this award :)

    Thats awesome.

    YAY BREAKING DAWN! :D
It's kinda weird they put "Children's Book" because most little kids would not read something like this.
