Completely agree. To me Riley was just some skinny teen with nothing special about him (compared to the other vampires). I don't see why they would want to cast someone who has had starring roles for a character who's screen time is so small.

And there is also a little script of New Moon. the scene is about the Volturi (Jane, Felix and Demitri) talking to the Cullens after the battle with the newborns in the open field where they decide the fate of Bree. The script is really patterned after the book. Dont know if its authentic but it looks real for me.

If Melissa Rosenberg really want Channing Tatum in the Twilight Saga. Then I suggest she can wait for Breaking Dawn. Because the only character I could see Channing portraying is Garrett, who became a late member of the Denali clan. It would suit him very well. i hope they consider my suggestion. I wish..

Actually, I've read the leaked script from the casting audition. It was not complete but as far as I'm concered, the script is almost a carbon copy of the book. There is also a little script of Eclipse where Jane was talking to them in the open field after the battle between them and the newborns. Bree is also included. It seems authentic to me. But not quite sure if it is.

I think that Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan from the OC ) would be perfect as Riley..

I'm with you about not really having much faith in Melissa, but Channing is a great actor... yea he started in some dance movies and yea he can DANCE but have you seen some of his other movies? He also started in "Stop Loss" as a soldier which is perfect and then "Fighter" is coming out next month here in California where he starts as a, well, obvious, fighter and it's pretty good!! As much as I think Channing is older than how I pictured Riley to be, makeup can do magic and so can he.... LOL.... anyways, we still don't know if they're casting him, it's just Melissa's opinion... I'm sure he has nothing to do with it ;-)

The book says Riley seems about as old as Bella which makes him about 18 at that point. Channing, while droolworthy, looks more like 28 and far too macho to be abused by Victoria. I don't see this working. And just because she likes him doesn't make him the right actor for the part.

I completely agree. I am excited, and really scared for the casting of Seth and Leah. My biggest fear (despite Rene's brilliant casting for New Moon-not sure if she will cast fo Eclipse) is that someone will have the bright idea (please don't take offense) to cast some random white dude/chick because they are hot. Or because they are a big name. It scared the crap out of me to hear names like Megan Fox and Vanessa whatever being thrown out for Leah.

I think Summit needs a new writer. If she is already screwing up Eclipse (my favorite book) i'm definitley going to loose it. I hated some of the lines in Twighlight. Of course its hard to know what she wrote and what was changed.

That's true, Catherine did change lines as well so I guess we can't "Totally" blame her for some of the lines. But Eclipse is also my favorite and based on her recent interview, I'm already PO at her take on it....so, I'm waiting to see what she does next.

Agreed! I have to know, am I the only one who thought the spider monkey scene was a total waste of time that could have been put into a decent meadow scene?? They could have kept the little tackle scene in the bedroom and given us a better build up to the meadow in my opinion.

While I do agree that there were alot of scenes that were not needed, I did like the bedroom takle scene :). They probable could have eliminated the little "spider monkey" bit and kept the scene with Carlise and Esme. The meadow scene, which I think was the most crucial of the book, was a HUGE disapointment to me, and while I like Catherine, I honestly think she ruined it!

I actually feel sorry for this guy because she is pretty much on everyone's black list at this point for the debacles that she has wrote on the first script. But on another note; not every Actor has to be drop dead (excuse the pun) goregous.. I'm sure they can make any new upcoming actor a very happy person and give them an opportunity to play this role.

completely agree with you. Although yes I first imagined someone a lot younger I do see channing as a good fit. After all this is someone that thinks that Victoria loves him and I don't think Victoria would fall for a 15 year old. They guy has to be young but not too young to the play the part of the rebound vamp for Victoria after James.

But I think that's kind of the point, he's young and naive and gullable, so he does think Victoria is in love with him, but she is not, she never was. She obviously choose him because she wanted someone she could easily manipulate, hence a young boy, who "Hawt" Channing would not fit in that role.

I think he looks to macho and manly for how I imagined Riley. He's only meant to be like 18. I know he's meant to be muscular and tall, but Bella describes him as "a boy", and I don't think Channing fits that description at all.

Although he is very good looking, I do not see him as Riley. First and foremost I think that he looks to old. In the book it said that Riley looked about Bella's age when he was changed. So I think they might need to look for someone a little younger. But he is nice to look at.

Well, I don't necessarily think it's Stephenie fault. She gives her input, but I think they let her consult out of professional courtesy. I don't think she's a producer, but I'm not positive. The movies are "based" on her books, so I think Melissa Rosenberg kind of has free rain. I have no idea though, just a thought :)

I'd bet a milllion. That was the FIRST thought that crossed my mind. If someone big (well, big enough that they're already known) is cast to play Riley, she'll end up turning the story upside down and focusing on Victoria and her new gang of newborns and take away from the real story that is going on. Plus, I really don't think he fits. I can't picture him acting like Riley at all. Riley had like what, 2 lines? if that? I'm sorry but I just can't stand this woman. I think what she does with New Moon is going to determine my faith in her with Eclipse, but even from Twilight.. I'm not too hopeful. I do not think he is the right person to play Riley. I totally agree with all the comments about Melissa. I can not understand with in Twilight they would have a Waylon character who dies and is suppose to be Charlies friend for over 30 yrs when it was never in the book. Then in New Moon Charlie has another friend die (Harry) which is a major story line. I sure hope she doesn't write that out of the movie.

Harry will be in the movie. He's on the list of cast that Summit released. The only reason they added Waylon in was to show the nomads more to have it be a more suspensful movie, unfortunately they need to make changes like that for movies so that it's more exciting. That's why some stuff was cut/added from the book. Book & movie mediums are different & stuff has to be changed.

If they wanted to make the movie more exciting they could have run the Carlisle story line and shown us some flashbacks. Chasing down vampires in 1600's London would have been better than Waylon and the little bottles. Honestly was anyone upset that Waylon was taken out.

Twilight was...disappointing for me. Great actors with amazing talent and a mediocre script!
