“Defining Twilight”: Study for the SAT Using Twilight

in Merchandise, Twilight

200904231522.jpg There’s a new book that is attempting to teach vocabulary for the SAT in a very inventive way–by using the Twilight novel!–

The Defining Twilight vocabulary workbook takes a bite out of tedious studying with a thrilling new way to master your vocabulary skills for the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT exams. You’ll use this workbook side-by-side with your own copy of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight. Each chapter of the workbook gives you eight words taken from Twilight, with page references for you to read the words in the context of your favorite novel. You’ll attempt to define the words on your own before turning back to the workbook for their actual definitions. Once you have a grip on the words and their meanings, you’ll learn their word parts and some useful synonyms. Plus, you’ll get memorization tools so you’re sure to retain what you’ve learned. At the end of each section you’ll take SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT drills to test and integrate your new vocabulary skills. Why use a boring, dated workbook when you can use this workbook and

You can pre-order the book for $9.99 and see all the rest of the details at Amazon.

[thanks, Lauren!]

    thats kinda...cute?

Isn't this just another "author" or whatever trying to capitilize on the Twilight franchise?

Stephanie Meyers writes the book and some moron is going to tell us what the words mean?

I loved the books, read them three times now...I'm no Eienstein<sp?>, but I sure didn't have to go buy another book to tell me what I already read....that's just crazy....
  • Wow that is SO COOL!
  • PraewKP
i actually read it before SAT and it really helped! i was telling my friend about how i read twilight really help my scores haha this is funny :)
  • cutesweetiezzz

  • hisgoldeneyes
    i think that's a pretty good idea. Don't know if it'll work but I guess we'll see.
  • drw1100
ok i definately would have studied for those tests if id had that book!
  • bonnie
wow...i love twilight and everything, just as much as anyone else, but doesn't anyone think it's a bit pathetic when the youth of this country needs to learn their own language by referancing a fiction book? Its called english class, pay attention or pick up a dictionary and you're good to go.
  • cnfac
The sitting in class and paying attention to the teacher is becoming a negitive way to teach students of this generation. Back in the day they put kids in Straight rows because that got them use to the Fatory like work force.

Today more Social activities are needed Because most jobs today take a lot of team work. In my English class, we went to doing the kendergarden thing and sitting in groups together, and working as a team to get our work done. It works so much better than the lines its unbeilievible.

So this is why using TWILIGHT is a good thing. Twilight is something that Allows people to socialize and talk about an intrest. If they study by this kind of intrest, more and likey they will not forget the material they are learning.
  • coolio book :D
  • well they will sure come in handy when i take those tests!!!
  • WHY DIDNT THEY HAVE THIS WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOO!?!? I so would've passed my sats and acts with vampire vocab :(
  • MelissaIsATwilightLover

  • this is kind of silly but it makes me happy these kids will know the meanings of these words they so love to read and re-read :)
  • TrulyDazzled

  • TEAM EDWARD
    Is this a serious thing??lol
Whatever word you don't know in Twilight, look it up in a dictionary! lol.
  • Soraya
This is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while, vocabulary use is definitely not one of twilight's strong points.
  • 30yearoldtwifan
what will they think of next? lol
  • honey_bee
    Oh, I dunno. lol
I thought I had seen it all with the Twilight band-aids.

    ;}
  • Amanda
Wow... this is pretty awesome, I guess. A lot of people have a problem reading (and a lot of people in my school actually read their largest book because of this series) and now this can help people memorize words they probably should know already. I should bring a lot of people up to par, and get the vampire-struck teens up and ready for the world. By the way, I am such a geek, and will probably buy this book not to find new words, but to list all the words I already know. Ha. Yeah. :D
  • Casizzle
OME I’m a geek too. Ya I’m probably going to get it also plus it might actually help on SAT ect. Since all I can remember lately if random facts about Twilight or anything Twilight related for that matter. This way I can learn and be obsessed at the same time! If only everything was Twilight related. *sigh*
  • ilovemasochist
    Funny geek...
  • valalight
Virginia. . . like the complete opposite of Arizona xD
  • kawaiioki
i bet one is chagrined, she uses that word at least once a page...
  • I think its an amazing idea. a lot of people became hooked on this series.. and as for me I thought about the book even when I wasn't reading it. Its a great new approach on teaching that's for sure. If I was still in school I would definitely get it.
  • burningeternalember
mmmm ok then i didnt see the challenge in the advanced let alone the origanal...... oh well i guess i am kinda worddy (smile)
  • twilover
hmmmm i'm sure this would be a great way to help Twilight fans with the monotony of studying! I am way past this stage so I wont be buying this book. Good luck to all of you who have your SATs this year!

Sometimes I am really glad I live in Canada.....we dont have SATs!
  • Bad Vamp Lover!!!
Okay where was this book freaking last year when I took the damn SAT's and ACT's seriously not fair!!!!
  • valalight
    I think it's a brilliant idea.
there's nothing more important than education, and maybe this will help all the lil fangirls go to college.

on a another topic, does anyone know what time the new moon stuff on E! will be on?
  • Bad Vamp Lover!!!
I think it's on at 630 or 700 but that's Arizona time so not sure. Where are you??

  • yuka
    oblivious too
  • dukedancer22
haha i guess she is fan of those words. lol
  • you forgot Chagrin... chagrined... Chagrin again... I did find myself wondering why no one ever bothered to introduce Stephenie to a thesaurus.. It's a good thing that the story was good enough to make that ok.

And I say there needs to be a book on the study of vampire and werewolf hottness. Let's explore, shall we, the defined muscles of the wolf pack.. lol... Id buy that!!
  • Irishgirl
I often wondered why the editors didn't pick up on it. Those two words, murmur and glower, are VERY prominent in all four books.
  • marie_C - Team switz
    and in twilight dazzle
  • hartsafire
    so is the word incredulous
  • KINALuvzWolves
HAHAHA yes "murmur." Everyone is always murmuring.
  • NuttyNetty
LOL!! xD i was going to put "interesting...." then i noticed you put it first. hahahah i wouldn't have thought to put "glowering....murmured" though :D that cracks me up!
  • violetloper
hahahaha she did like the word glowered and people sticking their tongues out at eachother....who does that anymore??
  • RobismySL_ TeamPatzzandStewy
Thats awesome!! Im gonna have to get me one of these!! lol
  • twilight_lover
    what the hell!! that's weird!!
  • rach101
Hmm okay... I guess this could be useful?
  • T-RoxSox
    That's uh...interesting
  • Tia_jb10 (Team Pants Explode!)
lol pretty cool i can use that when i take the SATs this yr last year i didnt even study so this should help. i needed the dictionary to read twilight for some words anyway so it should be a helpful book
  • KINALuvzWolves
    good luck :)
  • othersescape
Hey girls, you aren't gonna believe this, but I work for the publishing company doing this book and I am most likely going to be doing some final edits on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • ilovemasochist
Wow your lucky if you get that opportunity, Keep us up to date with that Ok. I just laughing cause guys are going to have to read it and you know how the mayority react to this book-movie. Maybe most of them will find their inner feminine side and learn some sensitivity ;)
  • othersescape
Yes, I will be sure to let you guys know what it's like!
  • violetloper
    haha maybe!
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
    that's awesome!
  • violetloper
Thanks! I'm pretty excited! I usually get copies of the books I work on so YAY!
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
That's so cool! You'll have to let us know about it!
  • othersescape
    Will do!!!!
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
    Thanks!
  • amelie_noir
But but but...then you would associate Twilight with work and it would be sad times =( It would ruin it for me to be honest. All books are ruined when school curriculums touch them and analytical papers are made on them, Wuthering Heights is ruined forever for me now.
  • KINALuvzWolves
Ew I know. If they had made me read Twilight in high school I would have had an automatic aversion to it!
  • hartsafire
I actually have a friend whose mom is a 9th grade English teacher and she uses these in her class
  • suitejuju
    That's very cool.
  • WoodenDance
okay honestly.. where was this when i was taking mine!?! i almost want to buy it just because i sort of need to take mine agian but still!
  • Bad Vamp Lover!!!
That's what I said! I just took mine too!!!
  • YvettexD
Haha weird. But i´m thinking, why would anyone buy this? I mean, all the words were like familiar, the only new word for me was imprinting, and I guess the book has a pretty good explanation.
  • Samantha
    That's pretty cool, I guess.

I don't know about you guys, but I knew most of the words in Twilight, and if I came across something unfamiliar, I looked it up to make sure I understood. One word can change the whole meaning of a sentence.
  • Jake's Chew Toy
    omg... very cool!
