Fan is Texting Entire Twilight Saga to Alaska

Twilight iPhone Edward Cullen Text message How big of a Twilight fan are you? Would you text the entire contents of the Twilight novels to a friend? That’s just what a hardcore fan from South Carolina named Eryn is doing. She has already sent the entire contents of Twilight–all 6000 texts worth–to a friend in Alaska. She’s currently 100 pages into New Moon. Now that is dedication. Eryn also had a bit of feedback about how the Twilight movie fared next to the book she knows so well–

“The only thing that bothered me was that if felt a bit rushed,” she said of the first movie. “Movies based on books need more time for the audience to get to know the characters. With ‘Twilight’ it was like, here’s Bella, here’s Edward, they’re in love, the bad guy dies, happy ending. I wouldn’t have minded if the movie was another 20-30 minutes to fill in a few of the gaps and missing pieces from the book.”

Check out the rest of the fan opinions of the movie over at The Wrap.

i don't get how the lord of the rings and harry potter movies get to be so long. I surely wouldn't mind sitting through a long Twilight movie if it's good.
  • twilightsagalvr
I agree! Tho it has to do with the movies budget. Summit didn't allow Catherine that big of a budget. They only had so much money to work with. I think she did great tho, because she did Twilight good, the movie itself made MILLIONS, and now they have a bigger budget for New Moon, and most likely will for Eclipse. Still hoping and praying Summit will do Breaking Dawn.
  • nina
uh... isn't this highly illegal? i'm not sure this is a true fan. poor stephanie would be disappointed.
  • OCDJenni
I was thinking it was illegal too.... like just buy the books and send them via regular mail or something. lol BUT whatta dedicated friend! Gotta give her props for that at least.
  • nina
haha, that is true. hopefully no one will get mad.
  • jdw
haha yeah "poor stephanie", I'm sure she's crying all the way to the bank. it must be heartbreaking for her to know that kids love her books so much they're willing to spend hours upon hours to share her work with their friends. If that doesn't fit in with your definition of a "true" fan, I can't imagine what does.

And no, it isn't even slightly illegal, much less "highly". what would you possibly think was illegal about it? it's not like the person is making a profit. Stupid, yes. Illegal, hardly.
  • nina
yeah but if sharing music without making profit is illegal wouldn't this be considered the same thing?
fans should elaborate on the story with their own creativeness, not just copying the book on their cell phones.
  • DxOxDBLxT
Ha I agree VERY VERY stupid! I think I would just mail them a copy, I'm pretty sure I would pay more than the books are worth to keep from having to waste that much of my life. This fan will have arthritis when she gets done with the series!
  • RobRocks
    Ha First
  • wow. yes, dedication.

I agree with what she's said about the first movie.
  • Wow.
She sounds like a great friend.
    Lol.
  • Wonder what her phone bill is. I'm hoping she has unlimited text messaging.
  • Lainaaa
haha, thats what I was thinking when I read that.
  • wow... that is a huge fan!
  • twilight30something
Text!? Wow! I wonder why she doesn't just email excerpts?
  • MereSquared
i don't have that much patience
  • i love rob
Wouldn't it have been easier and, well, I don't know CHEAPER, to send her friend the book???

And I agree about her comment regarding the movie. Don't get me wrong...I still love the movie.....I was just a little disappointed with some things!
  • RobRocks
i agree...i watch the movie all the time and now that ive read the books like 10 times each, i have noticed things that should of been in the first. Like the fact they say I love you and they don't. But since we cant turn back, maybe New Moon will make up for the mistakes in twilight. As for the texts... she must not have a life. I agree...why not ship her friend a book.
  • i love rob
For me, the part that disappointed me the most in the movie was the meadow scene!!! That was my favorite part of the book! That was the first time they really got to spend time together alone....the way they touched *sigh*....then their first kiss!!!!

It was a shame that that part of the book wasnt exactly the same in the movie!!! Especially since that's the scene that Stephenie dreamt of originally.....the inspiration to write the book!!!
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
I think that may be because if they'd put too many love scenes in the movie, it would've become too girly or sth. Asked my brother & a few male friends about it - they agreed. They thought that was also the reason for putting in the additional scenes with badass vampires ;)

But of course it sucks :)
  • Syra
Same here... I was so disappointed when I saw the meadow scene :/
  • Second that...although the first kiss in the movie was well done, it would have been soooooo much better in the meadow. Not having the meadow scene was definitely my biggest complaint.
  • i love rob
Without a doubt the first kiss scene is amazing!!!!!!! I wish I would have had a first kiss like that!!!! And with Rob, no doubt!

But yes, it would have been nice to have the meadow scene like the book!!!
  • i love rob
Did I send this to you already.....sorry if I'm repeating myself. Enjoy!
    http://twicrackaddict.blogspot.com/2009/04/i-ca...
  • ilovemasochist
I always thought of that, I'm so with you on that. I should have been more similar to the book after all it was how it all started with Stephanies dream in the meadow. brunie oxox
  • i love rob
Well, the only thing we can do now is hope that New Moon is closer to the book! Don't get me wrong, I expect some things to be different, I know it won't be exactly the same. But I'm really hoping Chris will keep the key scenes as close to the book as possible!!!!
  • beeee2222
Yea right! I would of definately sent the book over texting it. I wouldnt be able to sit there and text the whole entire book.. Maybe a summary lol.
I agree with the comment about the movie. I still like the movie but I was really disappointed and felt like their relationship was like weeks instead of months.
  • Marystat
I agree, why not sending her friend the books as a present?
  • lovevampolves
    exactly!
  • kelly
Txt is nice. but why not just order the books on line or go to a store when you are in town and buy them. Just seems unnecesary.
  • What ever happened to libraries? Oh yeah, four-month wait for a title hold!
  • Why not just buy a copy of the book and post it?
  • lolwut
  • Caila
OMG! So would have just posted her a copy lol.
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
imo, the biggest sacrifice is NOT texting the books, it's LENDING them!! :D I couldn't live without reading my fav parts over & over again!
  • omg same! like I'm lending my friend New Moon and she's taking FOREVER to read it! I think I'm just going to buy another one...
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
my NM's also gone :( and my friend hates me cause I call her like all the time asking questions like "hey! are they in Italy yet??", hoping that if she gets scared that I'll reveal her the ending she'll speed up a bit :D
  • misskitty444
i did that too with my friend, I was so glad when she bought the last two books for herself, cos it meant i didnt have to lend them! plus she ruined the spine of Twilight. God it sounds as if I have OCD, the regular kind I mean! lol
  • hahaha
my friend's only on like the second chapter which sucks for me because she's had it for 2 weeks! She's reading a whole other series while reading it which kinda annoys me. I keep having the urge to find out her locker combination and steal it. :D
  • Mimi
I lent my friend breaking dawn in november... i still haven't seen it and I only read it once! I also lent out my Twilight to a friend and she let her little cousin take a red marker and run a few streaks down the first page. Lets just say we arent that close anymore.
  • i lend my friends my boooks for the twilight saga too and i do the same thing i call them up and ask if they r at a part and they get all mad at me cause every time i usually give a little something away lol :P
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
it's so not safe to borrow Twilight books from a Twilight maniac! :D
  • yes i agreee hahahahahah :D
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
LMAO... Oh my God it's hilarious how much in common us Twilighters have.... lol... that IS the biggest sacrifice EVER!! My little sisters (they're 14 and 16) ask me about the books and say that they wanna read them and I'm like "umm... no you guys won't take care of them" and so I haven't lent them to them.... lol... I'm 21 haha and I'm stingy w/ my books... TRUST me! I did let my 26 yr old sister borrow them but not without making her promise about 10 times that she would guard them w/ her life and keep them away from my nieces and well, let's just say that when she returne them... well, I took them away from her hands and cradled them in my chest... HAHA.... yea I'm pretty pathetic and possessive w/ my treasures =]
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
hahaha you're right, you wouldn't like your books hurt ('damaged' is so not the right word here :D). I lent my 'Twilight' once and it came back to me covered in... glitter! ROTFL! I just stared at it and asked myself "WTF?!?". The truth was never discovered ;)
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
LMAO... glitter? Wow, maybe Edward's sparkly power just happened to magically cover your entire book? haha... that's funny =]
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
hahaha I love the idea! :D
  • Warrenff5 TwiGuy
Go SC! I wonder where in SC she is?! If she is that dedicated we need to be friends, lol...
I'm in the northern coastal are of SC!

But yeah, the movie was a bit rushed, and yeah, if it was longer, we would have gotten to know the characters better, and maybe a better understanding about how edward felt with Bella, and how he was extremely cautious, and a bit scared he would lose her. Because going into New Moon, if you didn't read the books, one would be extremely shocked and probly mad at Edward for leaving! I know I would be, because I wouldn't understand where he was coming from!
I mean, in the movie, Edward did say that he felt very protective of her, but he is way more protective when it comes to his family.

    Just my two cents....

    Warren
  • Mimi
I was thinking the same thing, i live in SC too.

the movie does seem quick to people who didn't read the book first, well thats what some friends of mine say. They watched the movie then read the book and did not understand the connection between edward & bella untill after they read the book.
  • victoria
so maybe this girl in alaska has no computer bc maybe there is no internet over there where she is, and she also lives in an igloo days away from any post office, and if she's living in an igloo then i'm sure there ain't no barnes and noble down the street from her house haha. or maybe she's under house arrest? ;)
  • rava
a person in an igloo has a cellphone?
  • brunie oxox
    lol funny
  • victoria
duh, in case they get eaten by wolves or something! ;)
  • Alaska Chick
    Bears, more likely.
  • Alaska Chick
um, We don't live in igloos. I think the texting thing is not true. I live in Alaska and I got my books at the store.
  • jdw
um, that was a joke. her entire point was that Alaska isn't exactly the wilderness and texting the entire book is moronic, when the friend could just as easily have bought it.

next time, turn on sarcasm detector before entering internet.
  • Juju
Hum yah she could buy the book and ship it to Alaska for cheaper.
  • brunie oxox
    so true!!!
  • Aimee
I must agree with the comments on the movie. If I had not read the book first, I would have really disliked the movie. It is hard to get the full understanding of what is going on in Edward and Bella's minds just by watching the movie. But, like most Twilight fans, I have still watched the movie over and over.

My only hope is that New Moon will have a bigger budget and the producers/screenwriters, etc. will not deviate so much from the books for the next 3 movies. I know they are trying to keep the movies with a PG 13 rating for all the teens out there, but that is pretty hard to do, especially for Breaking Dawn! How on earth are they going to stay true to the story and not make it with a R rating?? It's not like teens aren't just going to download it anyway if they can't get into the movie in theaters, and then go buy the DVD too!!, LOL.
It's one of those stories that has so much in depth character description in the book that is left out of the movie, which was utterly disappointing for the fans. Hopefully we will not be disappointed with New Moon - I know I can't wait regardless!!!!!!!!
  • marie c.
i agree with you in everything you say, i am disappointed with twilight but i can't stop watching it, maybe it is because no matter what that is my fav. book having live, but the more i watch it, the more i like it.
  • brunie
XXXXXXXXXX I wouldn’t have minded if the movie was another 20-30 minutes to fill in a few of the gaps and missing pieces from the bookOOOOOOOOOOO SOOO TRUE PLEASE LET NEW MOON BE 3 HOURS LONG brunie oxox
  • PiaCullen
That is dedication...I was just looking at the iphone picture and it just reminded me...does anyone know where I can get Edward Cullen or Twilight Themes for my Iphone? I have been looking everywhere and I can't anything!!!!....Can someone help me?
It would be very much appreciated!!!
  • malikity
OK how do I get MY phone to say "Slide to Dazzle" ??
  • Wouldn't that be awesome? I made this graphic in Photoshop just for you guys, this kind of hack isn't possible to my knowledge. =/
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Dang it... I had my hopes up =[
    haha
  • malikity
Aww bummer. Yes it would have been awesome, but great job!
  • twilover112
yer isnt this kind of illegal - i mean, thats kinda sad lol
but i do believe she is a true fan!
    that is dedication
  • jdw
i really don't know what you would think is illegal about this. it's retarded, but it's clearly not illegal unless she was making a profit off of Stephanie Meyers' work, which she obviously isn't.
  • LeStatOnTwilight
Texted the whole book??? Why? There's no point in doing that. Original, yes... Dedicated? It seems almost ridiculous because not only is it hard to text the entire thing, it's also hard to read a novel from a celfone! She could have 1) sent her the book, 2) mailed a cd version or 3) emailed and attached an eBook. Really, there are many other ways to show dedication.
  • jdw
yeah no s**t. this has "bored pre-teen looking for 5 seconds of notoriety" all over it.
  • bina209
the whole texting the book is a lil crazy, i would agree she could have done something a lil more easier.hahaha...and ya if your a Twilight freak just dont lend your books out you'll drive your friends crazy like i did, calling all the time making sure the book was not damage and i made sure to let her know if a page gets rip or dirty stained your buying me a new one or you'll get it :) i''m very protective of my books ;)
and the whole movie this i totaly agree they did rush they didnt show the depth of Edward and Bellas love.... i feel they left out so much. I was disapointed in the medow scene like that is the best part of the book and stephenies dream and they jus killed it :( but i still watch it all the time! i just cant wait to see how they will do New Moon and how Edward leaves...like they have to fill in some gaps. but eh that my lil thought.
  • rosie*loves*carlisle
why doesn't she buy/get sent the book?
  • Cullenesque
    Are you kidding?
im sure thats like illegal or something
thats so wrong, go buy the book please
the twilight saga is worth more than this :)

p.s i love this site... my home page i love seeing all the new updates everytime i go online :D :D :D Thanks
  • jdw
it's not illegal. and i doubt someone would go through the trouble if they were able to buy the book, it's probably some kid with no money to buy it. i really doubt stephanie meyer will miss the few bucks she'd have made.
  • Nikki
all i know is i really want that slide to dazzle thing on my ipod hahahahahahaha
  • yah...I think I would just buy the series for my friend and mail it to her. Texting all of the books seems extreme. Have a bake sale or car wash - you could earn the money in a day! Sheesh!
  • Tia_jb10 (Team Pants Explode!)
wow thats insane well good for her though i dont have the patience for that i hardly have the patience for next weeks sneek peek thingy.oh and just wait till she has to do BD that will take forever.oh and i love the iphone ..."slide to dazzle"=)))
  • Haha yay! My photoshop skills didn't go to waste! =)
  • Cullenesque
No totally the pic is awesome good job =]
  • blah
why doesnt she just buy the book?!
  • tweter76 . . . vamplover
how sweet! what a good friend. . . .but buying the book and sending it would have been much easier.
  • Gabby

  • twilightsagalvr
Ok I swore I wasn't going to get sucked in and torture myself. And I did..>sigh< awesome Eclipse trailer. This sucks having to wait a whole year for each one of them! I do hope Summit decides to do Breaking Dawn. They cant leave us fans hanging like that. Thats just wrong!
  • twilightsagalvr
Does she not have email? I would have emailed it before texting, if I couldn't just buy it an mail it her.
  • LOL..... SHES A REALLi GOOD FRIEND
  • Isabelle
How do you do that thing with the ipod it shows?
  • Holy Moly !!!! Wow, just .. wow. 6000 texts ! Wonder what her phone bill is *laughs* AWESOME pic btw x

To person above me ^ Photoshop :)

Why doesn't she just buy book ? Lol.

    X
  • sasstwi
Could she get in trouble? For...I don't know,....copyright?

Just curious as to how that would work.

    But talk about dedication!
  • jdw
nah, she didn't profit in any way.
  • newmoon_897
cant she just uhmmm buy the book? freeakk
  • Renata
Where's Jacob Black? This guy aren't him. ha
  • KINALuvzWolves
That's insane. Wouldn't reading that give you a headache? Like reading txt after txt?

  • i love rob
Awww, thanks!!! Saw you were a Taylor fan and I thought you would enjoy it!!!! :)
  • KINALuvzWolves
That was really sweet of you :)
  • Camzky090791
I would have just sent my friend an ebook instead. haha...her thumb is probably sore from all the texting.
  • Alaska Chick
Just want to say we do have borders, walmart, target, etc up here in Alaska. I think the texting thing is an exageration. And if for some chance this person lived out in the bush, shipping is a posibilty. Maybe this person wanted attention and Alaska sounded so remote that people would be like"what?!?!" Sounds like it worked.
  • Alaska Chick
Just some Alaska facts. Alaska is called "Land of the Midnight Sun". In the summer time we have 24 hours of sunlight. In the winter we can have as little as 4 hours. There are other states such as Michagen and WI that have more extreme winters than ours. The summers are beautiful. The temp in the summer can get into the 90's in the winters minus 90. We don't live in igloos. Alaska is pretty normal, just cut off from the rest of the United States which has its drawbacks and benefits. Everybody up here is nice. I see bears, moose, fox etc on a regular basis(not wolves though they stay away) Anybody want to know more, just ask.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Oh wow that IS a truly dedicated friend... all of you guys asked the same questions on my mind... why doesn't she just send her emails? the books? I gues we really don't know the situation but I give her major props for doing this for her friend...
  • cutesweetiezzz
Wow, I can't believed she texted her friend the ENTIRE book. That's insane, in a good way. :)
  • Lainaaa
I definitely wouldn't be able to do that.. my phone can't even do T-9 properly, it would take forever.

Agreeddd for sure on the book/movie situation. When it's the first book of the series the audience needs time to get to know the characters. The movie just rushed through everything and put random things that didn't happen in as well... I think the movie is good and I think the book is good but they aren't the same at all.
  • I agree with Eryn completely. Because the movie started and it was like; This is Bella. She goes to a new school. Edward hates her. Oh no wait scratch that, they're in love.
    ??? weird.
  • Mally
What a Fan! :O I can't belive she did it, her phonebill must be like realy high!
Ps. Anyone know where that photo is from? i have an iphone and whould really like that on it!
  • Goldensrule93
I love that picture! Slide to Dazzle! Absolutly hilarious! I want it SOOOOO bad but I dont have an iphone :( makes me sad
  • AMEN!!! just AMEN to everything that was said!
  • reneesme
Hi everybody, I've watched the fanmade trailer (on page3),can someone recognise the music of the video? It gaves me goosebumps.
    Thank you
  • mrs cullenxoxo
i would rather have had a very very long GREAT movie with alotof detail than a stupid let out short movie i hated that like for thirty minutes there was a narrator and jasper wore tight sweaters and looked gay he is a horiible actor and eww edward a british accent my edwaqrd i pictured was way hotter like abercrombie material
  • Ashley
Ok there is a way that you can really make your iphone/itouch really look like this...but I cannot figure it out!!! Please someone let me know how!!! I know this pic is photoshopped, but there is a real way to change the slider to say what you want.
  • i totaly agree with tha, 3 hours i sat throught lord of the rings with the walking and the walking and the walking, and yeah was a great film but no whear as thrilling or dynamic as the Twilight saga has and is becoming,

dont get me wrong i loved the first film, but there were so many little bits pple would dismiss as being insignificant that i think needed to be in the film, like bella being constantly badgered by all the boys and the little insignificant thigs, like the way the love story all built together and her eamaling her mothr rather than talking on the phone, but i hope New Moon lives up to the hyp, they will have had a bigger budget so fingers crossed
