A German reality TV show called “Mission Hollywood” is offering an extraordinairy prize–a role in one of the films of the Twilight Saga! Here is a rough translation of a news article about it–
Actor and producer Til Schweiger starts a new casting show “Mission Hollywood” June 8th on RTL.
This Wednesday the TV station informed us that they are in search for a new role in one of the sequels of Twilight.
Twelve ambitious female young talents are going to fight for a part in the movie. The show runs eight episodes.
The young women train with professional coaches on film kisses, action stunts or dance moves, to re-enact scenes from blockbusters like Dirty Dancing or James Bond.
RTL also said that they are going to work with famous actors, Oscar-winning make-up artists and well-known moviemakers.
During the casting they will have to fight for roles such as the German TV series “Doctor’s Diary”, the American TV series “Bones” or the new music video from Lady Gaga.

I kinda get the feeling that this has to be fake, even though the site is official.
But … it just seems so … well, weird, again.
Nobody knew of a casting call. (Maybe it was just for actresses who already had agents? sounds like it in the announcement)
why would they air this, the show lasting 8 weeks, when the casting for new moon is already finished? (they could have recorded the whole “German casting” like, WEEKS ago, but why would they do that and not show it?)
why would the producers employ a casting result that isn't their own?
also, the announcement sounds a bit cheesy. I haven't read the English translation, so I don't know about that, but the German version sounds weird. (I have a small vocabulary today

Well I think they should open it up to not just actresses, but also to actors of that country. there will be a lot of new roles opening up in the next two movies, and you never know when you will find your Riley, or Garrett, or Bree or Irina, they need to make it a little more fair.

I'm thinking of the 7th season of buffy here, where they cast a singer for a main part in one of the episodes. It was embarassing.
Smart marketing move, allowing the “Twilight” brand to be commercialised like this. If the reality show is a hit, just imagine the extra interest it will generate for the next 3 movies in Europe. After all, with satellite TV, Europeans are spoilt for choice and can watch tv channels from many EU countries.

ya like the one surviving newborn vampire who Jane tortures for information and then has her destroyed! She is a girl and all the contestants are girls….. I just wasnt sure that this reality show would rap up before Ecipse started filming but that makes sense!
what seems wierd to me is that this is only in Germany. Considering the popularity of the saga dont you think they would have done open casting for this show across Europe or is it only a launching point for struggling actresses who's agents managed to get them in. I think considering the fact that its Twilight related that it is strange it is only surfacing now. We are very dedicated fans and we are pretty good at staying abreast on twilight related news so we would have known if they were doing casting for a reality show especially where the prize was a part in one of the Twilight movies!!! If this is real then something stinks!!!

Considering that Twilight made half of its US$340 million plus box office earnings outside the USA perhaps Summit (assuming they are involved) sees it advantageous to do promotional stuff like this in the European market in order to sustain public interest. Then again, they may not even be involved and the fine print in the contract may say “RTL does not represent to be able to secure a part in any Twilight movie for the winner of this competition, only that they shall endeavour to secure an audition etc…?” I must add that European TV is lot spicier than US TV. Nudity is commonplace and sex is not taboo. If this show is the real deal I can only begin to imagine what sort of 'scenes' the contestants will be enacting in order to ramp up the ratings!!
That German fan had better appreciate it, 'cause I would certainly kill for that prize!

I never implied that its not a good idea to do promotional stuff in Europe and I know that European TV is racy….I think its a great idea to do that….I am a marketing major so I can see the benefits of this show…..I simply think its strange that we did not hear about an open casting call for this show…which could imply that there wasnt an open casting call…..which could imply that this may be fixed ie. only actresses that need a break! just my opinion!

damn, i do…didn't help me one bit…until a few minutes ago i didn't know there was something like it, which is kind of weird because usually when they're doing these catsing things there are like commercials with the casting calls and cities where they'll be searching…but this time: absolutely nothing…(and i would consider myself a tv person)
i think (as some people below suggested) that all the people in the show are already actresses with agents and stuff and got to it that way…
it's a shame, i think they could've got a lot more out of it, if they did it the traditional way…maybe i would've even gone to the casting…i was in drama class in school…hahaha…(no seriously who wouldn't wanna love to just make the experience on THIS set…)

I just mean that I know it is a little less inhibited! The US and Canada for that fact have racy TV shows also but those shows air later at night when it is assumed that it is a mostly adult audience.
There was a show that was similar to this in that aired in the US called The Starlet or something like that years ago….another reality show. It didnt do well so it didnt go past one season. But this show had just your everyday regular girls who always dreamed of being actresses but never had the guts to go for it. they had to do challenges that tested their acting abilities and they then won things like small roles on soap opera's or commercials for major brands. i didnt finish the show so i cant remember what the top prize was. so this isnt a new idea at all it just has some weight behind it with the Twilight role.

i am sorry but i don't think is right to put any of these girls in any twilight movie, i don't think they deserve it!!! especially if they are trying to get fame off of the movie, there are a lot of good actors out there that actually work hard to get a part in a movie like new moon and i don't think is fair that the part is going to some reality show winner!!
I read at a german web site that they already started with the show at 3rd of March. I think they will have a winner in in a view weeks, if not already yet.
