Henry C is EFFIN HOT! I would bet he is happy he dodged the "Twilight" bullet and is not being chased by crazed fangirls like poor Rob P. Henry is an amazingly talented actor -- watch the Tudors, seriously.

Honestly I think he would have been a better Edward than Rob. I know alot of girls will hate me for this but I don't think Rob was cute at all. I played Edwards character up so much when I read the book I mean he was supposed to be the most beautiful person in the world. It would be hard to find someone to fit those shoes. Rob did a good job with his part but look wise he didn't fit the Edward that I had in mind after reading the books.

but I do agree that Steven Strait could have been an amazing Jacob. Just watched the Covenant yesterday and that confirmed my point even more there.

I never really thought of Rob as Edward; This choice for Edward is far more suitable in my opinion.

I think Rob plays Edward good. After all, it is already confirmed right? After the showing of Twilight so many people began telling that he is a good Edward. Isn't it enough already? And he is exactly what I imagined. Good looks and all. Well, we can't blame Stephenie for choosing Henry Cavill as her perfect Edward. Alfter all, people have different tastes. For me, no actor can do the part of Edward except Rob Pattinson.

Henry doesn't fit in our generation? I am the same age as him. What a lot of people are forgetting is "younger Henry" is how Steph envisioned Edward. Not to mention Henry is only 3 years older than Robert. It really isn't that big of a stretch. However due to Henry's age he would not be able to play Edward.

When I was reading the book, for whatever reason I was picturing Hayden Christensen. Something menacing in his eyes, with that smile that could melt your bones. Hayden, though is in his late 20s. Henry definitely could look like Edward, but I think Robert really did do it best.

Without a doubt. Henry Cavill would have been the perfect Edward Cullen. He embodies the description of Edward in the book...handsome, angular face with a thin, yet muscular body. Plus he's a brillant actor. He doesn't need to pull off trying to be beautiful. He's already eye candy. And he has the acting chops and credentials to bring out and balance Edward's insecure, tortured soul while being a menancingly edgy vampire. Rob was very good in showing Edward's agonized side, but he didn't really come across as a dangerous vampire.

You know what,, I 'm a big fan of Rob, but I think Cris, you are right. Henry Cavill in his earlier days would have been the perfect Edward. The voice, the face, the body, is just perfect! I wonder if I should start thinking of him everytime I would read the book..lol

I think Henry is handsome and don't remember seeing him in "Cristo"...but the question is
"Do you think...etc.." and I have to say that I don't know. And I really don't care if he would or wouldn't have, because we all have our own ideas of Edward as we read the book--just as Stephanie had her ideas of him as she wrote the book. I read them after knowing who was cast, so I've only had Rob in my head as MY Edward. Maybe if I'd read them earlier, I would've "seen" someone else. But the only Edward for me now is Rob's.
I respect everyone's opinion on their Edward--it's kind of fun hearing them. But please--no bashing, because Rob has done an amazing job and Stephanie loved it.

ok...I think maybe "chillax" is good advice here--this is all in good fun and only "opinions" are being thrown around here, right?....didn't the above article say: "Do you think he would have been right for the part?" So that's what we are doing right now. We're speculating...and EVERYONE has a right to their opinions--especially when we have been ASKED for them.

i never pictured Edward to look like Henry. Not to say that he isnt good looking, he is.
But of course Stephenie's version of Edward probably looked different to mine and all of ours. Its just who she thought fit perfectly with her picture of the character. Whos to say shes wrong? She is the author. Nobody is wrong we just have different imaginations.
Some people may still to this day not like Rob as Edward, thats just how it is.

I agree. I saw the movie before I actually read the books, sometime in December, because the tickets were cheaper. Anyway, Twilight was like, this big craze around my school. Edward and Bella, Edward and Bella, I'm like, who the hell are Edward and Bella. The guys were like, Twilight sucks, and all that, so then I went and saw the movie, and I fell in love with it. Then, my two cousins (they're more like sisters to me; we grew up together) started reading it, so I'm like, what the heck, I picked up her Twilight book, and started reading. (This was during a sleepover, with all three of us) and ended up having a pillow fight over who gets to read which book. I ended up with Breaking Dawn for some odd reason, and of course, I didn't get it, so I went and bought my own set. Now, whaddaya know? I am a Twilighter, go on this website everyday (yeah, I don't really have a life LMAO) and I am eagerly anticipating the release of New Moon. I fell in love with Jackson much more than Rob, cuz, I find him more attractive. My cuzens totally disagree with me, they're Team Jacob. Sure, he's got pecks, but who cares? Jazz knows his way down south. Know what I mean? *nudge nudge*

At first, I thought he would make the most suitable Edward. He just looked how I pictured Edward to be. Then they cast Robert as Edward. I was so angry and confused because I couldn't see Robert as Edward. But after awhile, I saw Edward in Robert. I was like, "I love this guy, he's perfect for Edward!" I think we couldn't have a more suitable actor to be portraying Edward. Now, I love Rob for Rob. He's just so adorable and I love his sense of humor. He can always make me smile when I'm watching or reading one of his interviews. He doesn't try to be someone else, but himself. He'll rather be the outcast then try to blend in with the crowd.

I love Henry Cavill, even now on the set of the Tudor's he looks way younger than his years. I like how Stephenie choose him as her 'Edward'. Would he make a good Edward now? It's a loaded question when so many girls are now enamored with Rob, it's like waving a red flag in front of a bull to even hint at someone else playing Edward. We should look at it more as a benefit of the doubt, I mean come on Luke Perry played a high school teen back in the 90's and he was WAY older and no one ever threw a bit about it. While I didn't picture Henry in particular for the part of Edward reading the books, I can see how Stephenie could when she was writing them.
And btw, I do love Rob, but NOT because he's Edward, but because he's an actor who has enormous talent and happens to be easy on the eyes as well, and he still is quite humble and gracious to all of his newfound fans.

OH MY FREAKING GOD PEOPLE . . . I'm about to have a fit! Do any of you know anything about the process Stephenie went through when writing these books? When she was developing the "look" of her characters, she had people in mind who she thought "fit" them within the acting community. It's not to say she thought CH should cast them in the movie but that in her mind . . . they are who she saw in the part.

She started writing the books in June of 2003. THAT WAS 6 YEARS AGO!!!!! Henry looked much different then . . . just like Kristen and Rob looked like infants compared to how they look now. That is the point of this interview.

I think it is really cool that she shared her vision of Twilight the movie with us . . . she didn't have to but she did and now all people want to do is complain about it. It's ridiculous.

Girl I was JUST about to do this! The age comments are driving me insane. The over dramatic "Nooooo he can't act!" childish remarks are bugging me.

I wish that half of these people would sit down and write. Just go through the process and really understand what it is like. Once they do this, maybe, they will understand a little better.

I don't think Robert Pattinson makes the PERFECT perfect Edward, not the Edward in my head, but i think maybe I didn't get so lost in Rob's charm because of the lack of chemistry between Rob and Kristen. I didn't get so involved into the movie, as I did in the book. As for this Henry guy being Edward, if he's able to get that perfect chemistry with bella, than I wouldn't mind, but at the same time I've gotten pretty used to imagining Rob as Edward so...

While I was reading the books, I had a "mental" picture of Edward in my head the entire time but I could never seem to put an actors face to it. When Rob was cast, he was the face in my head. I admit I don't know much about this guy as far as acting, but I def could see him as Edward in his younger years. He looks more like the book version I pictured too. And he looks like he would kill (in a good way) any acting role he gets. I give Rob credit though, he is not my fascination of Edward, but he did great bringing him to the big screen. I really felt Edward through Rob in Twilight.

I give Rob credit as well. He did well portraying Edward, and really absorbed the character. I certainly wouldn't switch Rob out for Henry.

I think Rob is a great Edward, I can't see anyone else playing him now.... but, I love Henry too, he's a great actor, love him in The Tudors. He's only 25, 2 yrs older than Rob and I actually think Rob looks older than his real age.

Well now Rob is the perfect "Edward" for all of us since we've already seen the movie with him in it and we all know that he fits the role so I do not understand why others would comment "Oh, Henry is not perfect for the role or I don't see Henry Cavill as Edward coz I know Rob is perfect for it" and all other comments on who is perfect for what. How can anyone even say Henry cannot be Edward or Henry is not Edward, how would anyone know this until the movie is done. Have you seen Rob Pattinson in Harry Potter? Would you think that he is the "perfect Edward"? Would you even think that when you read Twilight the book, that Rob from Harry Potter is the best fit for Edward character? I don't think so. I know someone would read this and might reply and say "Oh yes, I saw Harry Potter and had seen Rob there and while I was reading Twilight, I imagined him for the role." I had the same reaction. All I could picture was this scrawny kid playing this dashing perfect being. Of course I hadn't seen any pics of Rob Pattinson until Twilight came to be. He is absolutely gorgeous now, although I still think he could stand to add about 10-20 pounds of weight.

I disagree with Stephanie. He's not the perfect Edward. I pictured Edward along the likes of Robert more than Henry. Henry is a sweet really good looking guy. I think he could of been a Cullen but not Edward. Robert's features fit more like Edward with the cheek bones, strong jawline, pasty skin and let's not forget absolutely handsome. Stephanie's description of Edward doesn't fit Henry. She just likes him because he's cute and sweet. But he's not Edward. Sorry Steph, but you missed the mark on your own character.

Well, Stephenie had to get her inspiration for Edward's features somewhere. And when he was a bit younger (gotta remember that she started writing Twilight several years ago) he did have Edward like features. The Henry you are looking at now plays an older character on the Tudors . . . he looks "seasoned." I think he would have made a good Edward several years ago. I love him in the Tudors. I wish they would have at least cast him for a Volturi part. But honestly, you can't judge who Stephenie "saw" as her character . . . he was hers way before he was ever ours (and way before he was played by Rob Pattinson).

If you look online at other pictures of Henry when he was younger, he looks a little more Edward like with more sharp features and edgier jaw line. But I agree, Rob is such a better choice for Edward. He has that sexy, mysterious, dark air about him, that we all love of course.

This reminds me a bit of Anne Rice, like Stephenie had Henry in mind as her original Edward, Anne had Rutger Huer as Lestat and boy she throw a fit when they cast Tom Cruise, In Interview With the Vampire Movie, Stephenie on the other hand was thrilled with Rob, and Rob does not seem from this period of time, just look at the Altertantive ending of Vanity Fair, he does look like someone strraight from the 1800s and so does Henry, like I said Garrett folks. And we can have both Edwards on screen. And everyone will be happy.

As for Bella, K-Stew was always my Bella, not Emily Browning.

Yeah I agree. In this case, Rob IS the best choice. By the time BD is in production, Henry might be a little too old as Edward as Edward is supposed to be forever frozen at 17. Henry would have probably be like 28 or something. But I personally really don't think that 25 years old is considered old! :D

umm no thanks,never really understood his appeal. why dig into the past? we have perfect Edward now(thank God for Rob hehe),lookwise,personality wise and all that stuff. this guy might have been great lookwise,but there's more to Edward than just good looks,who knows he might have sucked as him. look, Kristen looks totally like I pictured Bella but she didn't do the character justice,she was actually kinda bad(stiff,bored look on her face all the time,too angsty etc,though I partly blame CH for that),don't get me wrong I'm a fan of hers so here's hoping she'll improve on her acting(and the rest of the cast too of course) for future movies.

Have you seen any of Henry's work before? As rachaelwsz states, Henry is way more than a pretty face. His credentials back it up. Please watch an episode of The Tudors. The man is brilliant.

If you have watched Count of Monte Cristo and the Tudors(Idk if u had or not), you can see that Henry is definitely more than just a face. He's a actually a really, really good actor as well. Rob and Henry are both amazing actors!

I disagree. Rob fits Edward's description more than Henry regardless of these IMDB pictures. Rob's features are more distinct i.e. cheekbones, jawline. Henry is very handsome as well. I'm sure he could have pulled it off. But, Robert really fits more of the description of Edward than Henry.

People are clouded by the fact that they have seen Robert as Edward and think he is perfect for the role. He is, in fact, perfect for the role.

HOWEVER, we have to remember that Stephenie herself pictured Henry as the role. No matter what, he fits the idea in her head of Edward Cullen.

Henry is a gorgeous man. If they would have gotten the ball rolling sooner, he would have been young enough to play the part. Honestly, I'm not sure he would have taken it. He's a pretty serious actor, and chooses mature roles.

Also - the poor man is only 25. It's not like he's been put out to pasture.

He can still be in the Twilight saga - there's a whole lot of vampires to be cast in Breaking Dawn(if it is made into a movie) !

I read from somewhere that they were considering casting SM's original vision for the cast of Twilight in BD. But I really don't know how true is that though...

I could never imagine anyone other then Robert as Edward. He is just too perfect for the role. I dont really see the appeal in Henry Cavill i mean he is sort of good looking but he looks like most of the other guys on screen too generic Robert has a very unique look that makes him perfect for Edward. If you actually put them side by side in the same room Robert would outshine Henry in every way.

Ok... Let's try to see it at a different angle. Instead of looks, how about talent? Have you actually watched any of Henry's shows like Count of Monte Cristo and the Tudors? He does have talent! I don't really know what you meant by generic, well that's your opinion, but I do understand why Stephenie pictured him as Edward before the Twilight movie. I think, if you put both of them side by side in the same room, in terms of looks and talents, they would shine as bright as each other. It's just that Rob has got more publicity than Henry because of Twilight. But for the Twilight movie, Rob is definitely the better choice. But that's not because of looks nor talent. But because of Henry's age. Who knows? If Henry was, let's say 3 years younger, he might have gotten the role and have millions of fans swarming over him, like what Rob is facing now.

That man is screen-lickin good! I would know. I lick the tv every Sunday at 10:00 est for The Tudors. Did it for Count of Monte Cristo. Did it for Tristan & Isolde. Not only is he hot as hell but the man can act his arse off. He is brilliant.

Henry has ALWAYS been, and always will be, my original Edward. I saw him in Count of Monte Cristo and was hooked. As I read Twilight, he was the first image that popped into my mind as Edward. Don't get wrong. I enjoy Rob, but he isn't my cup of tea.

Oh The Tudors...Henry and Jonathon just make my week. Typically I have the AC cranked way down due to the hotness and sex radiating from the show.

I am actually thrilled Henry was too old for the part. This is why. Not because the "vision" is wrong, or his age. I am thrilled for the career he has finally built up. He worked SO hard, and went through so many disappointments, and now to have the flourishing career going. I am over the moon for him.

I also wish Twilight had been filmed early, so he could play Edward. I would completely cross to the vampire side if that happened. I think he would have been brilliant. Everything happens for a reason though. Here is hoping that someone will cast him as Garrett.

Again I think he was good but not great. The overacting, facial espression wise, sorta bugged me. In his defense Rob was still figuring Edward out.

Yes, he could have. And after he did the part, everyone would have asked Rob Pattinson 'I heard you were up for the part as Edward?' You know, who knows. I think this guy is way cuter! It would have shown that he has more time behind the character, like the book, as in Edward being over a hundred. Either way he would have made a nice Edward too.

Do remember that they had to do a lot of work to make Rob look like Edward. The dental work, the plucking of eyebrows and all that. :) Though it didn't diminish my liking for Rob, I think if Henry was born a little later, he would have been the perfect Edward.

I think Twilight has gained a lot from casting Rob, his personality and humbleness brought something more. It's a tricky stuff, I know that with every other actor the atmosphere would be different for sure.

I cannot agree with you more. The film Twilight was a disappointment, but I still watch it over and over. I can't imagine the film being as successful without Robert. He has the perfect combination of good looks, personality and mystery.
Its odd how he completely took over the movie, much like Edward took over the books. I didn't connect much with Bella, but I love the books because of Edward.

And Roberts personality makes me want to actually know him, its amazing how charismatic he is. I just love him.

I know I MIGHT be a little bit of a kill joy, but say Henry WAS right for the part at the time...evreyone here who LOVES the Twilight series would probably consider him as the PERFECT Edward. Because Rob played him first, we fell in LOVE with him because of his depiction/take on him.

In all honesty, I agree with what Miley Cyrus said about Rob (not all that Bull or whatever, and I must add that I don't really like her anyway) but we are obssessed with Rob because he plays the perfect, desirable, flawless and irrisistable Vampire in the world. The fact that he's gorgeous is just the icing on the cake. I PERSONALLY think Henry would've worked it out, and even if he didn't we'd love him anyway....Edward IS indestructible =)

I did like actors for roles they were playing, and when I saw them in different movies I could never forget about the character I loved them for.
But when I see Rob in a different movie I don't think of Edward at all.
I know there's a lot of people who like him for portraying Edward but there are even more I think that like him as an actor.

True. Miley mentioned 'girls' in her statement. 'Most girls' would have been more accurate. Most fans tend to forget that Rob and Edward are two totally different entities. One is fictional and one is non-fictional. And the non-fictional one, that's Rob of course, is not the vampire they read about in Twilight.

Yeah I somewhat agree with what Miley said (...). Rob's role as Edward did give him a boost in his career. But there are fans out there who already LOVE ROB JUST THE WAY HE IS EVEN BEFORE TWILIGHT.

But there are another bunch of fans who see Rob as Edward and not as Rob himself.

A younger Henry would have been good as the classic Edward in Twilight....the looks and built are there but Rob gave us a darker edgier Edward, not quite the preppy-dressed teen-vamp that Meyer first gave us in the book. His darker Edward made many women and girls love him even more...particularly those with 'bad boy' inclinations. Ladies, you know who you are!!! This is maybe why his appeal crosses all age barriers! Most of us admire Robert Pattinson, the actor but there will always be those who only see him as Edward the vampire. (Just like some people who only like Orlando Bloom as Legolas the Woodland Elf but not in any other avatar!!) BTW, I love Henry's voice and accent....mmm.
