200904301134.jpg Fandango has an excellent new interview with Robert Pattinson concerning his new roles as he plays Salvador Dali in Little Ashes and Edward Cullen in New Moon. He talks a bit about how things are going with New Moon so far–

Pattinson: The interesting thing about this one is that so much of my character is in Bella’s head. It’s based on a mixture of memories and nightmares. Bella thinks she is going mad. I get to do some really creepy stuff. In other words, Bella is really frightened of [her hallucinations]. It’s really, really different than Twilight. I think that a lot of people will be kind of scared by this one. I wanted to try and put that into Twilight but I couldn’t really find a way to make Edward scary.

Fandango: You contributed a couple of songs to the Twilight soundtrack. Are you still pursuing music, and will you be doing more for New Moon?

Pattinson: I’m in talks to do a soundtrack for another movie, composing. I cannot say what it is yet, but I really, really, really want to do. I don’t think I’m going to have anything on New Moon, but never say never.

    im so glad that he is happy to develop the dark side of our sweet Eduard cullen...i think that Robert is so much like Edward Cullen even when he is not aware of that. He is so musical...so talent...so charismatic...and so gorgeous. I never thought that i was going to fall in love with a famous guy and here i am crazy about him...feeling this imposible love....pathetic.

He doesnt have a break until after Eclipse if he's lucky.....unless Breaking Dawn will start or he does another movie.. he's gonna be pooped!...     Yup, he definitely sounds booked solid for quite some time. I'm sure they're going to want to shoot BD as quickly as humanly (or vampirely) possible... crazy schedules.... you're probably correct... won't be hearing any albums from him till all the Twilights are done and ready to go.

    I am DEFINITELY looking forward to the Italy Reunion scene as well! It is one of my fave parts in New Moon. I definitely am looking forward to how they are gonna showcase Bella's dream sequences! It will probably be distorted and everything. I just cannot picture my HOT&SEXY Rob as anything scary :)

    I'm thinkin it's mostly in her dreams, it has to be... where her fears all come out and haunt her... all she has is that last memory of him being cold to her when he was saying goodbye - so she probably throws that memory into what she envisions him as from that point on... should be pretty cool... I can't wait for the reunion scene in Italy though... holy...

    New Moon sounds like it's going to be fantastic, I totally pictured it as more of a dark book... even in the midst of her "happiness" with Jacob. You can tell she's still in hell.

    I don't know if I like him describing Edward as more scary & the movie being more scary. To me NM & Edward are not scary in this one. It's sad & depressing! Sure the Volturi are kind of scary but that's it! Now I'm really curious & I'll have to wait till November to see what he means.

    Question/Theory about New MOon and the rest of the series. They never cast anyone as LEah that I have heard and in order to make it Movie friendly...I wonder if they are going to Skip the whole thought of IMPRINTING? That would make BD more doable if they don't imply that Jacob imprinted on Renesme. By not casting LEAH they can totally skip over explaining the whole EMILY/Sam thing.....which leaves the rest of the movie freed up from this hard to adapt to the screen thing....what do you think?

    I think Leah is going to be in Eclipse - I really hope so, she's one of my fave characters. It would be fairly easy to explain the whole imprinting thing, and I don't think they could leave the Jacob/Renesmee thing out of BD - too many fans would go nuts (although personally, it wouldn't bother me - as long as they give Jacob some kind of happy ending).

    I know it would be fairly easy to explain the whole imprinting thing....but how do you make it not cheesy sounding in a movie especially when it comes to one of the Wolf pack that Imprints on that 2 year old. Or the whole Jacob imprinting on Renesme in BD. Things work in books that just don't work in film....thats why I think they are not going to touch on it in the films. Plus they could just have Jacob see renesme and just fall in love with her baby cuteness.

    NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! They have to have leah and seth and everything wouldn't be perfect if Renesme and Jacob are unexplainably perfect like Edward and Bella, it's the happy ending. Not to mention Leah's character adds so much to the book. Leah and Seth And Sue are musts and they should cast them now so they can build them into the plot in new moon so that it goes right in Eclipse!!

  • I'm kind off a bit puzzled about the whole "Bella is frightened off her hallucinations" in the book she loved them, she did her utmost to make them happen, yes she was terrified by her nightmares but not the hallucinations. Hmmm strange LOL

    Yeah - I had to re-read that part a couple times thinking I read it wrong. She was never "frightened" of the hallucinations. And if they change that part of it they almost change the whole reason she wanted to get the motorcycles, go cliff diving, seek out the meadow, etc. If shes scared of them how can they justify those scenes in the movie without changing the entire feel of the book.

    Just because of that I think it was just interpreted wrong from him. Like some others mentioned it must be that shes scared of some other scene or something entirely different and Roberts words got mixed up. Its the only logical explanation I can see at least.

    See, that's what SCARES me...that they are doing so many changes they will end up straying away from the book entirely....I really hope they get it right. She was scared of the loneliness and emptyness of her dreams.

    She has the dream in the beginning, mistaking herself with her grandmother, her being all wrinkled and old (decay..Rob mentioned that word in the ET interview) she was quite depressed after that dream. But showing some dark , I think is good, because in the end everything changes so much, back to "light" you might say. We have to be dragged through the dark to feel the good at the end. I think.

    I think it sounds great :) rob read modnight sun and new moon and i trust his interpretation of Edward.

    The probelm with Twilight was that it wasn't dark enough or romantic enough :) Twilight is suposed to be both of these things at once :) They went for some boring middle ground :)

    I like twilight but Edward is suposed to have a temper and be happy one minute angry the next :)

    Totally agree with you. Edward lacked danger in Twilight and that's supposed to be part of his sexy appeal (fortunately Rob has enough sex appeal for that not to have actually mattered). The darker Edward in NM will also make Jacob appear better as Bella's "sun".

    yes, yes, yes. New Moon is nothing short of painful. It is a gut wrenching story because by the time it all goes wrong we have become so invested in these characters and this couple. I remember reading that SM didn't want Edward to leave and she struggled over it so much, but ultimately the character took over and she had to let him go. I think we get that from her writing and it makes his departure so difficult to take. I was mad/sad reading because I thought, "How can she (SM) to this to us?" But of course it is a necessary plot twist for the rest to work out. I hope to leave the theater wanted Eclipse really bad because New Moon isn't a feel good story. It is supposed to leave you emotionally wrecked.

    You're right, Bella is soooo depressed in NM (understandably) so the depth of her despair has to come across in the movie. I think Kristen is great at that emotional kind of stuff though, so I know she'll do a grand job.

    But it's Jacob that I really feel for in the books so I want Taylor to break our hearts with the whole unrequited love thing (although more so in Eclipse than NM).

    (Wow, I just wrote a whole post without mentioning how hot someone is! LMAO)

    Yeah me too. I wasn't real happy with CH's vision of Twilight...there was so much she missed and she didn't get the feeling of LOVE right at all. I'm glad they are stepping things up with ths next movie and am so glad they got a better director. My heart was torn apart when Edward Left Bella....I want to "FEEL" that in New MOon. I never "FELT" the love in twilight.....the emotional connection was sadly missed....so I hope before everything goes bad in newmoon...I hope they reinforce how much love is shared so the breakup "IS" a great loss for bella.

    I agree Kassie. I think Chris will take it to a darker place which is how I perceived the book. A lot of it is Bella struggling to have her life make sense again after Edward leaves (I can barely say that without getting a lump in my throat!).

    Kristen Stewart is a very good actress and I have high hopes that she'll do Bella justice in New Moon movie, even more so than in Twilight where I think her character lost a lot of the humour that was in the book.
