Is Billy Burke Returning to New Moon?

One name was notably absent from yesterday’s official New Moon cast list–Billy Burke, who played Bella’s dad Charlie Swan in Twilight. Is this a sign that he won’t be back for New Moon? Not so fast, says MTV–

Before the rumors spread too far out of hand, however, we’ve got the scoop on some good news for Twilighters.
An inside source has confirmed to MTV that the veteran actor is indeed in the “New Moon” cast, and will be returning as Bella’s father. Despite Billy Burke’s omission from the press release, Kristen Stewart’s family will look exactly the same when they hit theaters everywhere on November 20th.

I must admit I saw Charlie a little plumper...you know, the whole small-town police chief gettin free donuts and meals type. But after seeing the movie once and seeing how he reacted to Bella leaving Forks and then the way he stared Rob down before prom...sold me on Billy playing Charlie. I think he'll rock it as the over-protective dad in the next 2 movies.

I think Billy is just awesome anyway. Similar to Peter. They are good "role models" for the younger actors to have around. What a neat opportunity for all involved.

I hope, hope, hope they make BD. I think both of these men will be brilliant! Can't you see Peter, as Carlisle, meeting the other Volturi head on.....oh the looks to be passed between he and Aro. I mean, Peter is nice and all, but I think he could kick some arse if he had to! And the look on Billy's face, as Charlie, when he sees Bella for the first time after she's changed.......OMGoodness......it's too much to think about.

i hope they make breaking dawn a movie as well and i can so see peter as carlisle near the voultori and billy as charlie seeing bella for the first time as a vamp .....great now i am all excited for a movie that may not be made but it will probably be made i have faith that it will be made :D

No, no.......one of my friends/colleagues who also writes said Midnight Sun will be published late 2010. Sorry, I should have clarified. She found out through her publisher that Mid Sun is done but Stephenie's publishers are holding off on putting it out until after Eclipse movie comes out.......that's what is floating around the writing/publishing community anyway.

well I know hes confirmed for the Twilight convention in August as Charlie. I would assume he wouldn't be going to be there if he wasn't going to be in NM.

I think they didn't mention that he was coming back in the press release because it's a given! He's so awesome as Charlie :) I actually had an older Charlie pictured in my head before the movie Twilight but he did such an amazing job, I loved him and think he's perfect!

Billy Burke most def embodies Charlie to a tee. He was right on in the movie and put Charlie from the books to the big screen perfectly. One of the few who hit the nail on the head as his character. They better not even think of replacing that man. Perfect Charlie! I was so glad that him and Sue was hooking up in Breaking Dawn. I know he was lonely after Bella left, so that was great for him. He deserves to have someone.

They seemed to have left off a lot of the returning minor characters (except the Cullens). I guess they just assumed that it was understood that the other folks would be back too? Like, if they changed someone, say they dropped Christian from playing Angela and picked up Miley Cyrus (which would kill me, but its hypothetical)...they would announce that.
