Kellan Lutz on Board for A Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot

in Kellan Lutz

200904240745.jpg Kellan Lutz will be starring in the new version of the horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, which instead of being yet another sequel, is a reboot the the series in the style of the new Star Trek movie. Is it just me, or do reboots seem all the rage in lieu of sequels nowadays? is it just code for “we promise this sequel won’t be sucky yet again”?

Not surprisingly, two actors from popular franchises are joining the horror flick: “Twilight’s” Kellan Lutz and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” Thomas Dekker.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lutz would play a “popular high school jock” and Dekker is on board as an “alpha male” attempting to get back together with his girlfriend.

Yeah, I can see Kellan Lutz as a popular high school jock. Just the other day I read a Letter to Twilight where he was described as the perfect big bro by a gay unicorn. (process that for a second). What do you think–will you go see this movie to see Kellan Lutz jocking it up?

[thanks, Lisa/LMCullen!]

HE IS AT MY SCHOOL RIGHT NOW SHOOTING FOR THIS MOVIE AND HE SAID HI TO ME!!!!!! AHHHHH!
  • cullen2
I wonder what role he will have?? If it's Freddy we won't get to see his cute face. I just read on that IMdB that he has a movie coming out this year called "Warrior" and Ashley Greene is also in it!!!! Cool. Maybe you all know this already, I"m kind of behind the times sometimes, lol.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Kellan!!! Oh yea, I can see his teddy bear bootie as the jock... lol... but he's oh so much more than that... umm I'm kinda a scary cat but I'll definitely watch it to see him... oh yea =]
  • ChelleC
The movie is totally gonna suck!! I dont care who they cast, even if it the gorgeous Kellan, Robert Englund is not going to be in it so why bother making it. Robert Englund IS Freddy Kruger and without him the movie is just not going to work.
  • cutesweetiezzz
    I don't think I'll watch it.
I love Kellan Lutz, but I'm not a fan of horror films.
I'll probably have nightmares for days.
  • gRaW
I AM A HUGE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET FAN!!!
Freddie Kruger is my favoirte out of all the horror film killers
    better not suck!!!
    ill go watch it..
who are they getting to play freddie??? =)
  • ChelleC
Kelly from Bad News Bears (the 1970s version) and Watchman. I think his name is Jackie Earle Haley.
  • Nataniasmom
Oh I would LOVE for it to be the original, Robert Englund, that would be so amazing :)
  • i am soooo gunna seee this movie i hope it is good :D
  • RustyHalo
I will definitely go see it and not just because Kellan's in it.(although I'm liking that idea)
I've always loved the 'old school' horror flicks and Nightmare happens to be one of my favorites. Especially 'Dream Warriors'. I like the old Friday the 13th, and Halloween movies too. I really can't stand when they keep doing sequels. It's like the more they do the more ridiculous they get, with the exception of SAW, I liked all of them. (so far)
But take 'Freddy vs Jason' for example, or 'Jason takes Manhattan... ridiculous! IMO.
  • Nataniasmom
    "New Nightmare" was good though.
Wes Craven and the actors can't figure out why they are being attacked in real life.
Turns out Wes is writing a new "Freddy" script and the fear of Freddy has made him come to life, separate from the actor that plays him.
It's so hilarious and scary, I love it!
The new Friday the 13th was good, saw it on Friday the 13th.
But like I said, Rob Zombies Halloween was terrible.
Of course the "Hellraiser" movies were always my favorites :)
  • RustyHalo
Oh yeah! I like the Hellraiser movies too, I forgot about those. I haven't seen the new Friday the 13th, but heard it was good so I want to see that one too. I think that one was in 3D at some theaters? That would've been cool.
Haven't seen New Nightmare either but honestly I'm not too crazy about movies that mix horror/comedy together. When I'm in the mood to be scared I don't wanna be laughing, and when I wanna laugh, I don't wanna be scared. Lol, does that make sense? Because I feel like I'm rambling a little. lol But I may just have to try it since you said you 'loved' it. =-)
  • Nataniasmom
Oh I just meant hilarious cause of the bad acting and the fact that they do stupid things like run up the stairs instead of outside, or go into a room alone.
That kinda funny, not slap stick comedy funny. :)
Friday the 13th wasn't in 3D it was good though.
"My Bloody Valentine" was in 3D and that was awesome! :)
    Very gory though :)
  • i love horror movies....
    i love twilight.....
i love terminator..... those are like my three favorite things on earth...

  • Nataniasmom
YEA! A Nightmare on Elm Street remake! I am hesitantly excited!
Rob Zombies Halloween movie sucked, but the remake of My Bloody Valentine and a couple others have been good.
NOTHING beats a cheesy, fun, but still a little scary horror movie, that was the best thing about the 80's horror, cheesy fear :)
  • emmett_freak
psh will we go see it?! if it has kellan's delicious self in it of course we'll go see it! I know I will!
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
it's SO not a 'nightmare' with Kellan in it :D
they should rename it! I'd say "A Wet Dream on Elm Street". LMAO!
  • JI
OMG HE IS AT MY SCHOOL SHOOTING FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!! I SAW HIM AND HE SAID HI TO ME!!!!!
  • lmao
  • Cullengirl
So Thomas is going to be the Johnny Depp role?
  • Jake's Chew Toy
OMG-OMG-OMG!!!!!!!!! I am soooooooo back flipping happy....... I am absolutely head over heels for Thomas Dekker !!!!!!!!! I love him as John Connor!!!!! This totally makes my day. And Kellan is in it TOO!!!!! O happy me happy me!!!! Excuse me while i run down the dang street screaming! lol........... YEA!!!
  • RustyHalo
Lmao! Excited much? That made me lol. =-D
    btw I'm a lil excited too. =-)

    I LOVE it!!!
  • Deejay
Hell Yeah! I'm gonna go see it. I was going to go see it either was since Nightmare on Elm street was one of my all time favorite scary movies. Now there is just more a reason to go see it.
  • mocha_love
is that the kid who was on heroes?
  • .. they Really can't come up with something else?
however, they are lucky kellan's in it.
    so yeah i'll watch it : D
  • I wanted to post this here so people would read it because every other post with Edward had way over 100 comments.

I think in New Moon when she is having her hallucinations of Edward.. instead of just hearing him I think he is gonna be seen as well.. like in front of her and talking to her instead of it just being a voice over.

Since he said it just being a voiceover would come out cheesy which I agree.

    It should be very interesting.
  • emmett_freak
yeah, I can't wait to see how they put him there in person. it'll make more sense than just having this voice sounding out of nowhere & yes, very cheesy too.
  • RobRocks
OK im not sure ive watched that but im sure it will instisting to see kellan in it.
  • Cullengirl
I love horror movies, but come on folks, think of something new. I much prefer the haunted houses types like Amityville, you don't know what is lurking in the shadows or like the Sixth Sense, the intellegent horror flicks.
  • 30yearoldtwifan
Oh yes! I love Amity ville also The Exorcist, they are 2 top classics. They better never redo The Exorcist though lol
  • 30yearoldtwifan
I would watch this no matter what Nightmare on Elm street is a classic horror movie, I am very excited they are redoing it, and Kellen being in it is a extra!
  • twilover
I never watched the Nightmare on Elm series or the Halloween series.......I get accosted for this all the time but I still have not made a point to see them.....yet!
  • I love Nightmare On Elm Street! I can't wait to see this when it comes out. I do worry just a tad that Kellan could fall into the "popular jock" role, and nothing else.
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
It's kinda cool! I mean, I remember being in middle school and high school going to see these! He does need to be careful with the roles he's taking, but at the same time . . . if those are the things he likes doing . . . so be it!
  • twilover
I know what you mean cause it would be a shame for him to be type-cast the jock and only get those kinda roles since I know there is more to him then that......he will just have to get his own Salvador Dali role!!
  • It really would be a shame. He is a great actor and capable of more than a type-cast. I personally would love to see him in a romance, as the lead. Ironically he was offered the part of Edward, but couldn't make it back to audition. He was in Africa filming Generation Kill. Now that was an amazing role for him! Because Cam couldn't fill the role of Emmett-Kellan was offered the audition. Thank goodness. I can't imagine anyone else playing James, or anyone else playing Emmett.
  • Irishgirl
So will he be the Johnny Depp character and get sucked into the bed blender by Freddie???
  • Beita
Nope, I think Kyle Gallner (from Veronica Mars, the Haunting in Connecticut) is supposed to play johnny Depp's role.
  • TrulyDazzled
I loved nightmare on elm street.. and I love kellan Lutz... perfect. :)
i was a bit unsure about the remake but now I think ill have to see it.
  • OCDJenni
That's cool for Kellan - Congrats! But geesh, I'm just sick of the remakes of all these old movies.....can't hollywood think of anything original anymore?! I'll refrain from going on about that though. lol
  • AMEN to that! Come up with some new stuff & stop messing with the classic's! I'll watch it anyway though....the horror-junkie in me won't let it go, & besides, I want to support Kellan by seeing the movie....but please, no more re-makes, OK?!
  • marie_C - Team switz
but i guess as long as those movies are generating incomes, they will be doing them, like friday the 13th it was a blockbuster.
  • AerosManders
EXACTLY! I am a horror movie junkie...and they just need to stop. Perfect example...Rob Zombie...just back away and put the camera down. They think they are "heightening" movies...when they are really just destroying them further. I mean...Halloween...the only series that could make me change my pants after I watched it.

First time I saw Micheal Meyers...I was like 10 (I am 22 now)...and he still weirds me out. Then Rob Zombie touched it...and I laughed and thought his wife was horrible. Then there was that one sequel that had Tyra Banks and Busta Rhymes...really?...I mean...really?!?!? Good horror movies are scarce and far between.
  • Cullengirl
I would never forgive Rob Zombie for touching Halloween, that movie is a Classic for crying out loud, Classics are not to be touched, can't Hollywood come up with new horror flicks, most we recycle the old ones, and turn them into major caca.

Michael Meyers started in my nightmares for as long as I can remenber, I have lost count how many times I have seen this movie. and the music? chills.
