I agree! I'm so afraid that they will make it look like Bella really wants them both. It was NEVER that way. Bella always knew she wanted Edward more than anything. Why are they pushing the Jacob character and Taylor so much???

Well.... she does want them both. She just doesn't know it yet in New Moon. They need to do the whole love triangle right. But yes, they should make it clear that Edward always has the edge, but I hope they don't pass over the fact that she's in love with Jacob, too, and part of her wants to be with him (in eclipse that is.. getting ahead of myself).

I guess I never got the idea that she was "in love" with Jacob. If she is... well... than Breaking Dawn is kind of sick. I felt she loved him and wanted him in her life, but he always had to make her kiss him. She never WANTED him.

But, this is more of a book debate and the movie will be its own creation. I just never liked Jacob much so maybe I am biased :)

well anya, when they kissed in eclipse, she started kissing him back and she thought " i love him" and after she like talked to jacob when he was all injured and like said she loved him but couldnt live without edward... so tiana, yes its not as strong of a love as for edward... but then after she talks to him and stops her truck and starts cring and edward comes and holds her she thinks "i craved a different set of arms" then she cries all night. so she did love him, she just doesnt find out until eclipse...

I forgot about the line "I craved a different set of arms." I remember now how mad that made me. I think I forgot a lot of Eclipse because I hated Bella so much during that book. Maybe I'm not looking forward to these movies as much :( I just forgot how much I hated all that Jacob stuff..... I have to admit, you make a good point. I just wish it wasn't that way. It's going to be hard for me to watch that stuff in the movie. I'll still go see it, of course, at least I know she ends up with Edward in the end :)

Eclipse is a mean to an end . . . it gives us the alliance between the wolves and the Cullens. It foreshadows the fact that the Volturi wouldn't mind for the Cullens to be taken out. It shows a development of character for Jacob with regard to the Cullens (particularly Carlisle). And it strengthens Bella and Edwards relationship because she does CHOOSE him, even when she knows she loves Jacob.

Without all of these things, Breaking Dawn would be a completely different book or not one at all. I mean, all of those things influence Jacob's choice to leave the pack to protect the Cullens during Bella's pregnancy and then influence the 2nd alliance when the Volutri come for them. People may not like Bella or Jacob in Eclipse but just like New Moon, Eclipse is a necessary evil for the outcome we all want by the end of Breaking Dawn.

That's how is kind of is though.
First he forces her to kiss him [which was practically mouthrape], then he starts telling her to kiss him or he'd go kill himself.
Though whole "I craved a different set of arms" made my mad at Bella more than I already was. But it could have meant she wanted Jacob right then because it would have been a way of saying he forgives her. Having Edward hold her at that point wouldn't make the pain she caused Jacob go away. She needed his forgiveness. I refuse to see it any other way. If she thought, "I craved a different set of arms" for a different reason, then I just hate Bella. She doesn't deserve Jacob or Edward by the end of New Moon or middle section of Eclipse.

I liked Jacob in Twilight, it was innocent puppy love/attraction, he annoyed the hell out off me about half was through New Moon, I loathed him in Eclipse because his immaturity was pathetic, and I loved him Breaking Dawn. In the films I want to feel the same. Bella did love Jacob but only realised it at the end off Eclipse, and in a way it was Edwards fault, because he left her, in the book he also realises this. I would not want to be in the position that Bella is in, But she realises that its Edward she can't live without and she can live without Jacob. What a sucky decision to have to make Lol.

I never liked Jacob. Once I read his name in Twilight, I knew I'd hate him. By the end of Eclipse I was ready to strangle Stephanie Meyer for even creating this character. He still bugged me in Breaking Dawn. I didn't hate him as much by the end of it, but I still didn't like him.

Jacob definitely goes about it the wrong way.. but he's portrayed as a 16 year old kid. Who doesn't act like a dipwad at that age? I don't get the anger at Bella. Jacob forced her to realize her feelings because that's what he wanted. It was a bummer that he hurt her in the process, but the fact that he IS a good person and Bella forgives easily, why doesn't everyone else?

As for craving a different set of arms.. it's obvious that it's because she wants a life with him. Not as much as with Edward, but I think that was made quite clear. She loves him -- she said so, and she said she wanted the whole thing with Jake. As for hating her.. why? She ends up with Edward anyway and it's not like she didn't feel remorse for hurting either one of them. She's human and people CAN fall in love with more than one person.

It's clear that she wants Jacob in her life. He was a big part of it; he helped her through her "zombie" stage when she really needed him. She does want him in his life, but not in the same way he wants her, which really annoyed me. The whole tent scene [I think it was the Fire and Ice chapter] is what really made me hate Jacob. He just pissed me off so badly, but whatever. Like you said, she does end up with Edward anyways.
Haha! Well then Bella is one lucky girl to be able to fall in love with two of the greatest fictional characters ever. I can't even get a guy to look at me and yet she has two willing to die for her. x)

As Jacob says in Breaking Dawn "Make Bella see reason? What universe do you live in?"

He doesn't FORCE her. He just wants her to realize what they both already know because he wants, above all else, to SAVE her life. He has to use a sly tactic or two, but it's because Bella doesn't see reason like she should, even Stephenie Meyer says she doesn't think of the consequences of her actions and Jacob is not a bad person at all, he just wants her to know she has a choice. To him, becoming a vampire is worse than death, and especially being the vampire's natural enemy, that hatred is instinctively bone-deep.

Jacob's entire motivation is his true love for her. How can you fault the kid for sticking to his guns? I find it quite admirable. He knows one day soon she will be one of them and he can't stand it. By the end of Eclipse he accepts that she will never be his. Can you imagine how that must have felt? People have no compassion. Their love triangle was a tragedy with no villains, only victims.

Yeah, I'd probably be more ticked off if I were her. But I still think I would've forgiven him. I, personally, thought the tent scene was amusing. Jacob's needling was typical and funny. I don't know.. I've felt sorry for all of them a number of times, I like all three of the characters a lot, but I guess I always felt the most sorry for Jake. It's very close to me for Bella/Edward and Bella/Jake. I lean more toward Edward, but I felt sympathy for Jake who tried so hard.. gets what he wants, but it just isn't enough. And then when the decision is made, he keeps getting sucked back in when Bella is pregnant in BD and ends up more hurt. That's when I was a little annoyed by her.. knowing how he feels about her, but always absurdly happy when he's there and wanting him around. I must say.. the "birth" (if you want to call it that) scene - I was glad that it was the two of them there helping her and no one else. More poignant.



She was very selfish at times.. but it hurt her to hurt them, and she never did it maliciously, which is why I never disliked her. And I keep in mind that they're all teenagers (though Edward's had a lot of practice being one, hence the maturity).. teenagers can be wacky. I'm just glad Stephenie wrote them as good people and not over-the-top teens. Oh, yeah, and as far as Jake.. I also gave him some slack due to the werewolf thing - he became more volatile because of that, so some of his jerkiness came out w/o thinking about it first. And with Edward's somtimes overbearing attitude I forgive because he came from a time when things were quite different, and he always means well. so there.. I'm done rambling. haha.

Maybe I'm just cold hearted or something, but I never felt sorry for Jake. Jake did try REALLY hard though. But it just made me sad to think that he's trying to take Bella away from Edward. Edward had been alone for SO long and he's finally able to be with someone. It just turns out that that someone has a knack for getting caught in the middle of trouble.

Even though the thing was literally killing her from the inside she loved it. After all, one reason she wanted to keep it was because it was Edwards. Anyways, while Edward was kind of having his little nervous breakdown, Bella needed someone to be with her. Jake was always known as her personal sun and that's what she needed. I think he should have just gotten over himself and let HER be happy without her having to feel guilty.

That's true. Edward definantly has had a longer expeience at being a teenager, but Bella never really acted like one a whole lot. Jake was the only one who actually seemed to act his age. They all went through weird stages in their life, Bella being caught up in the middle of both. I try to keep an open mind while reading about Jake and what he's gone through. It's just too hard when he's being really annoying and douchey sometimes. Haha! But, whatever. The series is over, everyone had their happy ending and yet some people just don't face that fact. I mean all the Jacob/Bella shippers. Oh well...

well i am probably the only one who loves the love triangle. It was actually something new, like a new challenge they have to overcome to be together. I don't hate Bella, just because sometimes people can fall in love with two person at the same time, at the ends she end up like we all wanted, with Edward. I guess you all hate her because you love Edward so much that you don't want her to hurt him (i am obsess with him too), but not for that i will hate her. And Jacob i love Jacob too, what he did was something that everyone could do, fight for the love of the person you love, and he knows that even if she doesn't say it, she loves him too. You hate him for the fact that he is making Edward suffer, but that does't means that he is not a good guy, he is just that with Edward by his side, he doesn't look like it.

and not it wouldn't be good to bit her in twilight, because when she becomes a vampire she can control herself and that is because she learns how to do so in the other books, also is in eclipse that she realizes what she can lose by taking that decision.And she can cover her disapareance because she is marry and is with her husband, Charlie and the police wouldn't go looking for her and be in pain by that fact.

Bella at one point does want Jacob that way but she doesnt realize it till the third book when Jacob makes her kiss him....and even then she says she may love him but its not strong enough against the love she has for Edward. and all Jacob did by making her realize this was completely complicate things.ha(thats not in exact wording but you get the picture) soooo....im hoping they dont over do the Jacob thing cuz that would NOT be cool.lol.

And about growing up, I think this where the Twilight world offically becomes an adult story, see Twilight was innocent kinda like first love, New Moon is about True love, what happens when you realize the person you lost is the person you are meant to spent the rest of your life with? think about it, if it would had been a normal teen thing, all Bella would had done was cry and eat ice cream than gotten over it, but the pain never got better, which means that Edward is her other half.

I think it's one of the reason this saga is so powerful and why we love it so much, is about love overcoming alot of advesorsy, time and death.

Look Bella is human, I wasn't too pleased with her behavior in Eclipse but if Jacob hadn't wanted to play the victim, he too could had walked away and told her not to come back. It takes two to tango and all she wanted to do was repair the damage she did to Jacob.

Kristen gets it, she knows you kept help to love someone you can't force love. In New Moon she feels, Bella should love Jacob but knows that to stop loving Edward she would have to remove her own heart.

I disagree. I don't see why a lot of people don't seem to understand this...

It's not that Jacob needs her to choose him for his own needs. He loves her and of course he wants to win out over Edward but above all else Jake wants Bella to choose him so she will live out her human life and not become a vampire. In his eyes becoming a vampire is a fate worse than death and he tells her this. He's a werewolf, he instinctively hates vampires---how would you feel if the the girl you fell in love with when her leech abandoned her still chose him in the end despite knowing she loves you as well? Have compassion, people. I mean my god. They were all at fault at one point or another, they are all victims at one point or another. Jacob should not take the brunt of any blame here. His motivations were driven by true love, he has a strong spirit and I love that about him.

Yes she seem to understand really well the feelings.. I just hope she deliver the right ones when Edward leaves.... she really need to be broken to pieces when he is gone...

I just watched Into the Wild, powerful film, and FYI to everyone that doesn't have confidence...Kristen can do emotion! from the little bit I seen in this film, she can do it good! And she's a fantastic singer!

She seems like she has a really good hold on what Jacob means to Bella in New Moon and the difficulty of the relationship between she and Edward. :)

Have you seen "Into the Wild"? I just watched it...powerful film! Balled like a baby Lol. Kristen can do emotion, from what little bit I have seen from that film, and she's a fantastic singer, has a really lovely voice!

All I know is NewMoon is going to be very emotional for us as huge fans. There probably won't be a dry eye in the theatres. I hope we feel every bit of heartbreak she experiences.
BTW, I like how she's trying to explain the 'women's intuition' thing. It's a true phenomenon for sure. Women do have a tendency to feel when something's 'not right'.

Question, in New Moon, how long does Edward take after the paper cut accident until he actually leaves Bella? It's a week, right? I sort of like that they are (apparently) dragging it out, I mean in this interview Kristen says "a few weeks go by" or something like that, so it sounds like they are going to make it clear in the movie that Edward thinks through the decision. I remember in another article, a lot of us were freaking out because Ashley Greene made it sound like in the movie, Edward would break up with Bella pretty much right after the accident, but in this, Kristen is making it sound like the eerie feeling of Edward's distance from Bella will be brought to screen. That is one of the most painful parts of the book. So this is exciting!!!

I def hope they do it that way. In the twilight movie, i was a little upset by how they made everything seem like it happened right away rather than weeks.

I agree, it was way too rushed, totally ruined the story, it is supposed to be very drawn out.
I hope Chris Weitz does a better job.

Well, time DID pass in Twilight the movie--but it was pretty subtle--like Bella narrating at one point, I think she says "weeks went by...things were getting weird." But I agree that they really didn't do a good job of showing it to the audience.

or Edward saying that he was sneaking in her room to watch her sleep for the couple of months...but you have to be attentive to notice these things

The movie doesnt follow the book here. By the time that James, Victoria, and Laurent show up at the clearing. Edward has only been sneaking up to Bella's room for about 1 1/2 weeks. He tells her that the first night he visits her is the night Mike Newton asks her out.

Yes I totally agree. Twilight was rushed and details were left out. And Bella and Edward didnt look like they were in love. Just looked obsessed. New Moon has to be better!

It was roughly 3-4 days when he left after the paper cut incident. I want to feel the eerieness off the distant Edward makes, it's all part off the bigger picture. I'm so excited, I wish it was November!

So whether or not Kristen was exaggerating with the weeks, it sounds like the viewers will understand that after the accident, some time passes before Edward leaves, which is one of the most painful parts of the story, in my opinion. (I mean the period before Edward leaves, when he is shutting down from Bella.)

This part is so strange to me. Since we dont know his POV, we probably wont see the pain he's going through. Or what he's really thinking. She only 'senses' something is wrong, but he's already saying goodbye to her. I love the books, but I also believe that Edward loves Bella more than she loves him. This is sort of proven in BD once she becomes a vampire. So, his pain IMHO is worse and sadly we don't get to see that.

I agree with you, this part of the story is strange. I feel like that it's a really painful part of the story, because it is so strange. Bella senses something is wrong, that things are not the way they used to be, what with Edward's distance. They still hang out together, but it's not the same. If the filmmakers do it the right way, then Edward's distance from Bella can be shown on screen, and I really feel like the viewers need to feel that pain that Bella feels. We shouldn't know why Edward is being distant from Bella (even though we do because we have read the books). The viewers should see Edward shutting off from Bella, and it shouldn't be clear to us why he is doing that.

Yup, its gonna be painful for ME to watch Edward go through this. Even if we cannot see his suffuring in the movie. The first night (her Bday) he spends the night, Second day he just visits for a bit, and the final night before the break up he never shows up. He's spends almost 4 days (days and nights) in agony knowning he's leaving her. And knowning he's gonna have to break her heart and his.

I love his character more than Bella's because I never see him as the 'bad' guy.

I'm also curious about the note he leaves for Charlie. He has to go back to Bella's place and remove the pictures and CD and to get his car. I would love to experience NM from Edwards POV. Its more real to me than Bella's.

Its not obvious, its just the feel I get from their love story . No just from BD. There's lots of little things.

While Edward and Bella are hunting for the first time. Edward is kissing Bella and she says "I hadn't imagined that I could love him more than I had. My old mind hadn't been capable of holding this much love. My heart had not been strong enough to bear it." (I guess you can argue that her love only intensified because she's now a vampire)

And you also have to factor the whole Jacob mess. We dont want to hear it but in a way she WAS moving on. Bella is functioning and following the 'pattern of her life'. Even if loving Jacob is a 'sacrifice' for her to make him happy, she does consider him (many, many times).

But Edward just curls up 'lets the misery have him". He does hunt Victoria at times, but he can't even be with his family. Edward would have never moved on.

And the whole Bella becoming a vampire thing. Her motives are selfish IMHO. Edward does everything in his power to prevent this. Even knowing that this will ultimately cost him his own life when she dies. Remember he's in pain every second that they are together. And he also leaves her. His love is about sacrifice and selflessness. (you can argue that he's selfish because he wanted her in the first place, but if you do then their love story wasn't meant to be)

I could list more but it would be too long. Hope that helps. Remember this is my opinion. lol

It doesn't bother me that she is starting to have a life without Edward. That is the healthy thing to do . . . the human thing to do. Edward isn't human, obviously his emotions are going to be different than Bella's. It isn't fair to make a comparison between the 2. And you may believe his love is about sacrifice and selflessness but when he returns in New Moon he tells her he was coming back because he couldn't take it and he also admits this to Jacob in the tent scene in Eclipse. I don't think this lessens the meaning of their story at all. It proves that Edward really couldn't live without her and wasn't truly strong enough to stay away from her. Maybe Edward's love for Bella is stronger but in what sense? Comparing vampire love to human love is like comparing apples and oranges or for that matter vampire love to werewolf love.

I think sometimes readers get stuck in the mindset that someone has to be the "bad guy" . . . whether it be Jacob or Bella or Edward. The thing is . . . without any one of them, this story would have a completely different meaning. The story IS Bella's story. It's her journey from being a teenage girl who falls for the wrong guy to becoming a (supernatural) mother who would do anything to protect her family. It is a love story . . . but the LOVE Stephenie writes about is multi-faceted, not just girl meets boy love but family and friendship love.

I loved what you said. Yes, Bella is moving on and it doesn't bother me because IT is the healthy thing to do. It makes her love for Edward more real rather than just an infatuation. She is human after all. Im so happy someone agrees with me. I thought someone would rip my head off for thinking it!

No way . . . I totally think it's healthy that she was moving on. It's what "normal" people do after a break up. It wouldn't have been such a moving and relatable story if Stephenie hadn't written it that way.

i cannot wait 4 this movie 2 come out!!! The book made me cry when i read it, b/c it's just sooooooo sad!!! i mean u can actually feel ur heart breaking as if it were ur own heart break and sum1 like me who has never experienced anything remotely 2 that was surprising 4 me 2 feel that way. but i really think that Kristen is gunna pull the whole emotion of hertbreak and loss off in NM. She knows how the "twilighter's" are and I think she is just as passioate about making her character experience what Bella did in the book. I'm so lokking forward 2 the scene where edward tells bella he doesn't love her anymore and doesn't want her, and where sam finds her on teh ground saying "he's gone he's gone" tear :(

I think we need to bring tissues with us to the theater! lol
New Moon used to be my least favorite of the series. I was literally sobbing over my book. :x I hated Edward for leaving, refused to read anything about Jacob, and skipped right along to the happy ending. *rolls eyes* While revamping the series the second time around, knowing that Edward does indeed come back, I can read all of the parts I skipped and dive right into the entire story. I love Jacob's character, I understand their relationship better, and I also understand why Edward felt he should leave in the first place. It's really a wonderful book. It's a second favorite after Eclipse!

I did the same thing the first 2 times I read new moon, I skipped all the jacob parts. IMO he new Bella loved edward and was pushy and annoying. People take what part they relate to from the books and I personally was just annoyed by jacob especially in Eclipse.

The thing about Jacob is that he was there when Edward wasn't regardless of how pushy or annoying he seems. Sure, Edward thought he was doing the right thing but he still left her and she was dying inside. She used Jacob . . . she admits to it. And Edward admits that he left things wide open for Jacob to come in. They all 3 know and understand what has transpired and why the relationships are what they are. Thus the triangle. Jacob gives up a lot to save Bella while she's pregnant which makes him just as admirable and selfless in the end as Edward.

I swear people I bracing for the break up just like I do in the book, THIS IS GOING TO HURT!

She says that as much as his pain kills her, she can't help but to use him because he's the only one, the only thing that makes her feel like that gaping hole has somewhat closing up. "Her own personal sun" And then when Jake does his Wearwolf Business, the hole re-opens, and recreates itself because Jacob was the first and only relationship after Edward, even though he is ONLY her friend, despite what he wants.

I hope she does better in New Moon. I was disappointed with Twilight a little. Kristen needs to bring emotion and pain into the movie. I'm still a little iffy about the casting. I dont think she's the best person to play Bella. But oh well, what else can you do? I can't wait to see New Moon. I hope there's more detail and passion in the movie. Twilight left alot of important factors out. I hope the director decideds to stay true to the story but not keep the audience asleep. He better do a better job than Twilight.

Really bxbaby8827 illuminate us on who would had been a better Bella? How was Kristen suppose to play someone who I recollect DIDN"T SHOW EMOTIONS. Clearly In Twilight Bella said over and over how she didn't show emotions because she got that from Charlie, how she didn't like the spotlight. I think Kristen got Bella's personality down to a tee, what you wanted someone like Miley Cyrus? you wanted Bella to be some singing loving dweeb opposed to how Stephenie wrote her?

Am I the only one who DIDN'T cry when Edward left? I'm sorry, I just didn't feel it. I cried at the end of Eclipse when Jacob ran away. I felt worse for his heartbreak than I probably ever will for Bella or Edward. But I hope seeing the break-up on screen will do the trick.

And I'm really cheering for KStew. I hope she pulls it off this time. I'd be willing to eat all of the bad things I've said about her acting if she manages to not stutter through NM.

I guess everyone takes something different from each book and that is good. For me, though, I thought Jacob set himself up and kind of got what he deserved. After he forced himself on Bella, I had no more sympathy for him. Bella said "No" and he didn't want to hear it.

But I know other people see Jacob as the victim so I guess it just shows the wide appeal of her writing.

I thought it was heartbreaking for Bella, but I didn't cry. I actually didn't cry once while reading the series.
I didn't feel the need to cry over Jacob's heartbreak. He knows she doesn't love him the way she loved Edward and he kept forcing her to make a choice. And that choice just had to be him or he'd kill himself [okay, so it was "kiss me or I'll kill myself," but it's pretty much the same thing.

She seems to be doing better in interviews and whatnot. That's a step-up at least. I have a feeling that she'll do better in New Moon. Kristen is really a great actress, but I think that it was the directors fault too. I mean, look at the "Revenge of the Sith". Everyone's acing was just terrible and I KNOW Ewan Mcgregor is a great actor, but the directing was just terrible. Maybe now that it's Chris directing, it'll be different.

I agree that Catherine is partly to blame. It's the director's job to say, hey, that don't look so good.

Finally! Someone else who cried for Jacob!! I didn't full out cry when Edward left, misty eyed yes. But omg, the end of Eclipse I was bawling like a baby! I too felt worse for Jacob's heartbreak than I did for Edward or Bella. Actually I was misty eyed at the end of New Moon for Jacob as well. I still hold a grudge against Bella for her selfishness toward Jacob.

I was too pissed to be sad when Edward left. I hated him from that moment on and I would have let him backpack across Europe in broad daylight. Edward is the embodiment of everything that love is not. Obsession, control, invulnerability, manipulation... I mean, they're not even friends. There is not a single indication of friendship between those two.

But yeah, when Bella sees how her life would have been with Jacob... the wedding reception... Bella dying... I was a mess. And then I cried for a good 20 min after I finished BD because it really could have been such an amazing story about life.

Isn't life beautiful because we die? We have to change, otherwise existence is just a really bad imitation of the beauty of the human condition. Really, it's just meaningless if it goes on forever.
Plus, Edward acts like a grandfather. You couldn't pay me enough to spend a week with him, let alone forever.

i would so love bella with jacob but the one thing i didnt like is how jacob wont get old if he stays a werewolf so that just means that bellas gonna get old and ugly where as jacob stays young. i mean thats horrible to be with someone when you keep getting old but they dont and if shes with edward she can be with him forever :D

Well, he'd stop phasing because the Cullens (and the requisite Volturi and Denali vamps) would presumably leave Forks alone for once, and he would subsequently begin to age again. The age difference would hardly be noticeable.

Your post had me laughing until I read the whole dying thing. I would rather live forever than experience what it feels like to see someone you love die.

The whole point of Bella's and Edward's love story is to illustrate what love should be (not the journey). Everyone sacrifices something when you meet your other half. Men and women are very different creatures we don't truly understand each other. What's the divorce rate now %50? So Edward and Bellas love is 'magical' because it doesnt exist-In the essence that we cannot live forever with someone that was created for just us. Someone who completes us, not just shares a life with us.

Regarding Bella and Edwards relationship, I couldn't agree more. Sometimes it seems like they are too different. But that only humanizes them. They are 'one old soul' though and thats what makes them compatible. He gets everthing as in someone that saves him for an empty existance and loves him for who he is. While she gets someone who needs her and also someone who takes care of her and who loves her for who she is.

Dying is a part of life. There's not need to run away from mortality or change. Really, it's beautiful in it's own right. Our perception of it as negative is our choice.
Unless you come to terms with mortality, you'll be paralyzed by a fear of the unknown. Would you really be able to love openly if you're constantly worrying about death and change? Does being a vampire really eliminate these factors? Just something to think about. Eventually the world will end. And I'm sure James and Victoria thought they'd be together forever...
You also make several assumptions: that there is an ideal love, that each person has "another half" (who is, of course, of the opposite sex and gender), that person was made to complete us, and that men and women are very different (really complex issue. Don't ignore the huge role of culture in determining gender roles. Biological determinism is total crap, also).

We just share a life of happiness together.

No offense, but I don't agree with people who say Jake "set himself up." Bella used him to make herself feel better/make sure she didn't kill herself just long enough for Edward to re-enter the picture. She admits this all the time and admits how she should stop holding his hand, but she continues to seek him out and give him false hope anyway. You can't blame him for fighting for her, especially when she's sending him mixed signals and getting raunchy with him in the clearing and admitting she loves him. I hate Bella. There, I said it LOL. Maybe that's why I didn't cry when Edward dumped her. I never liked her.

Oh none taken lol. I hate it when I hear people say Jake "set himself up" or that "he deserve it." That is not the vibe I got from the book. I saw Bella, who admits it several times, use him to make herself feel better. As someone that has been in that type of a relationship, it ain't fun. It hurts like mother caker and nobody asks for that type of treatment. It's like people seem to forget the fact that Jake tried to walk away many times. Bella just sucked him right back in by bugging the snot out of him. While I admire the lengths she went to protect her family, I hate her too. She is my least favorite. Leah however is my favorite other than Jacob! My favorite part of it all is when Jake had a wedding invitation sent to him. Ugh my heart BROKE! That was the end of my Edward worship as well.
I can't blame him for fighting, and I admired that about him. Between him, Leah, Emmett, Jasper, the Volturi (I would so join them), and the wolves they keep me going through another read. I just get to the Jacob stuff and I'm crying like a baby again but worse lol.

I totally know what you mean about the wedding invite. But for me, the #1 WTF moment was when Bella is all "I'm in love with Edward. But wait, I'm in love with Jacob, too! Hmm, this is some pickle I'm in!" OMG I nearly threw the book out the window. What a greedy snot. At that point I realized that I didn't even want Jacob to have her anymore.

Of course I will! We Jacob girls have to stick together. We are in the minority lol! The unicorns of the fan base.

That part irked me too. Midway through Eclipse I was at the point that I didn't want Jacob anywhere near her. I thought that she did not, nor will I ever believe, earn or deserve the loyalty Jacob gave her. Yes he made boneheaded decisions but so did she. So did Edward. Those are just convenitently pushed aside sometimes.

I dont get that vive from the wedding invite. Edward loves Bella and he knows that this will make her happy. He doesnt see any boundaries when it comes to her happiness. That doesn't make it right, but theres nothing malicious about it.

I had no idea there were others like me out there! I agree with everything you guys said. All my friends give me hell for having any sympathy what-so-ever for Jacob. But I think Jacob strikes me as the most real of all the characters. But since I've actually been unrequitedly in love with one of my best guy friends before, I might be a bit biased towards his POV.

YAY!! Someone else finds Jacob more real than the other characters!!! (My vote goes for Leah as well) I too have been on the wrong side of love. Far as I'm concerned Jake took one for the team lol. (Let me say Jake's POV in BD was my favorite part, period!)

I absolutely loved his POV in BD. It was the only part of the book I really enjoyed. I was LOL-ing the whole time.

I don't completely disagree with you! Bella totally carries some of the blame for this mess. See, that is kind of my point. I don't believe she was ever in love with Jacob. She used him. Even the character compares herself to Catherine in Wuthering Heights. However, I think that Jacob know this about Bella all along so I still think he got what he asked for.

Edward was always the one my heart went out to the most :)

Bella thinking to herself that she DID love Jacob was a very confusing part of Eclipse. It was totally out of character and really bothered me. Everything to that point in the series was built around her one true love of Edward. She was willing to give up everything for him and, even if that was a bit obsessive, it defined her. Having her suddenly think she was in love with someone else too.... well... I just felt that was very weak. I love Stephenie as much as anyone here, but that part of the story felt kind of flawed.

But, hey, like I said, nothing against you Team Jacobs out there :)

I can see your point. I'm not sure if she ever really was in love with Jacob, especially considering how much she loved Edward. I'd be more willing to say that she made herself the victim by being like "Ho, hum, poor me. These boys seduced me and I can't decide." She wants to have her cake and eat it too.

I've been turning my theory over in my head. I've come to the conclusion that Bella in fact did not love Jacob (as more than a friend/brother). But after she made out with him she realized, this is nicer than kissing a cold rock. The alternative was tempting...

That part made me question their relationship actually. Just because Edward is suppose to be the uber love of her life that she can't live without. Then she falls for Jacob so to speak. I was sorta like what the hale? lol

The whole saga is about how we love people in different ways, and about how for some people, there is a love that trumps all the rest. The way she loves Edward is "too strong to exist in a rational world." She gives up everything, and everyone else that she loves, to be with him. That's what Eclipse is about...sacrifice.

I understand that. However, when I read Twilight, New Moon, and then Eclipse with her repeating over and over how she can't live without Edward, and then she realizes the feelings for Jacob as well, I questioned it. She wouldn't just choose Edward right off the bat. It just irritated me beyond belief. She is b***hing about not being able to live without Edward, but she wouldn't just choose him. Instead she snuck behind his back to see Jacob.

Again. I like Edward, but he isn't my favorite. I get the whole love conquers all thing. However, with Bella, all I saw during Eclipse and part of BD is her trying to have her cake and eat it too. Edward and Jacob were just stuck in her crossfire. I'm sorry but I just didn't see her giving up everything for him. Although I totally respect your insight, but that's just how I feel about it all. :-) I DO admire her determination, and her drive to protect her family. I will give Bella that.

In Eclipse, Bella tried very hard to hold onto her human life, and I can't blame her for that, because she literally had to give up EVERYTHING in order to become a VAMPIRE. I think that anyone would struggle with that. Those are the biggest sacrifices that a person can make. In Eclipse, all she realized was that in a DIFFERENT WORLD, in which Edward didn't exist, she could have been happy with Jacob. But that's not her world, because as she says, her love for Edward is "too strong to exist in a rational world." In her world, all she can offer Jacob is friendship. That's why in book 1 of BD, she constantly refers to him as her best friend. Because of her love for Edward, all she can offer him is friendship. In Eclipse, she learns that she loves Jacob in the sense that she sees the POTENTIAL they would have had, if there was no Edward. But the point is that there is an Edward, and from the moment she met him, she knew she couldn't live without him. She loves them in ENTIRELY different ways because of the indescribably huge difference in magnitude. She sees Edward and her as one being, one soul. The way she loves him is on a different plane than the way she loves everyone else. As she says at the end of Eclipse,
"Everything in my world was about him."
and,
"Edward: I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!
Bella" yes. that's my point."

And, she compares her situation to that of Sam and Emily ("It's like Sam and Emily. I never had a choice.")
Sam did love Leah, but the way that he loved Emily was so inexplicably powerful...its truly beyond words. While it hurt him to leave Leah behind (as Jacob says), he had no choice because of how insanely much he loves Emily.
It also obviously relates to Wuthering Heights. Catherine loved Edgar in a way, but the way that she loved Heathcliff was too powerful for words.
As she said, "My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods; time will change it, I'm well aware, like the winter changes the trees. My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath; a source of little visible delight, but necessary. Nelly, I AM Heathcliff!"

My only question is why didn't she choose Edward instantly over Jacob? Why did she go behind Edward's back to see Jacob? Why did she write secret letters to Jacob? Why did she call and check on Jacob? Each time Jacob walked away on his own (a fact that is conventiently forgotten) SHE would not leave him alone. She knew the damage she was causing to Jacob and refused to leave him be! Granted I could knock the holy hades out of him for going back to her. Jacob shouldn't have given her a second thought, but I get it.

I believe Edward belongs with Bella, just so people understand. My whole point was if Bella loved Edward to the point of self destruction then letting Jacob go should have been simple.

Just as the situation with Sam, Leah, and Emily in comparison to Jake, Bella, and Edward. Sam easily (of course it hurt and what not) picked Emily over Leah. He did not drag Leah along. Sam did not rush back to Leah every chance that he could. Rather he let Leah go because he didn't want to hurt her more. Which is exactly how the Edward, Bella, and Jacob thing should have gone. Sam choose but Bella refused to choose as quickly. She should have just spared them both of pain and placed Jacob and Edward first rather than herself.

Again. I.Understand.The.Story. I just do not see Bella as a saint. Never have. Period. I was sick of her hurting Edward. I was sick of her hurting Jacob. Maybe after a fifth or sixth read then my opinion could change of her. Until then Leah remains my favorite chick and Bella remains my least favorite. Althought I LOVE hearing various opinions on the saga. I really do respect them.

Again I will admit that Bella has good qualities such as her determination and drive. I admire the way she protected her family. Other than that I'm not sold lol.

I don't AT ALL think Bella is a perfect character. that's why I love her. Because I can relate to her. Bella loves Edward so INSANNNNELY much, but she's still a human being. And because of that, giving up her ENTIRE family, her friends, and her HUMANITY, is still a HUMONGOUS sacrifice. Anyone would be very sad over having to give that all up. Eclipse makes her a more real, deep, dynamic character; in my opinion, Eclipse made her comparable to some of the great heroines of literature, because she finally felt sadness over her sacrifices. To me, it wouldn't have made sense if Bella just rushed into becoming a vampire, without ever thinking about, or feeling heartbroken about, what she was giving up. She wouldn't have been REAL if she acted that way. She would have been too perfect. Her love for Edward is so strong, that even though she's giving up EVERYTHING for him, she still says, that she "never had a choice." There was never a decision in terms of what she would do; however, in Eclipse, she learned to understand the CONSEQUENCES of this decision (that was already made). It makes her love for Edward soooooo much stronger in my opinion that she fully understands these sacrifices, yet has the strength to proceed. Most people would NOT have the strength to give up EVERYTHING for true love. That's the point of Wuthering Heights: Catherine loved Heathcliff with her entire heart and soul...but she was too weak a character to make any real sacrifices. So, she took the easy way out. And living without Heathcliff killed her rom the inside out. Bella is the anti-Catherine in that she has the strength to make the ultimate sacrifices for love.
A lot of people think that its "easy" to "follow your heart" and throw away a practical option. For any real human being, this is NEVER easy.
But, the message of Eclipse was extremely clear. Bella sees herself and Edward as one being, and she cannot exist without him. The way she loves him goes beyond love. Its a force too powerful for words. Its a love so strong that it causes her to make unimaginable sacrifices.
Sam DID feel a LOT of remorse and unhappiness over what he did to leah. In fact, Jacob said in Eclipse that he still reflects on this sadness (the way that Bella reflected on her sadness in eclipse). Jacob said that Sam hated the vampires BECAUSE of what happened with Leah. Him turning into a werewolf caused him to break leah's heart and because of this, Jacob says that he "hates himself", and "hates the vampires."
Its never easy to leave someone that you care about, even when you care about someone else so immensely more.

I wish that I could see Bella as you do lol. I honestly and truly do and I am trying. It's just certain aspects of her character I have a hard time overlooking. The sacrifice of her family isn't something I could do for someone else. Unless it was to give my own life to save them. There is absolutely nothing that I would not do for my family. They are my life line especially after the ish I've dealth with over the past 2 years.

However, Bella did want to become a vampire. She was more than willing to make those sacrifices and she was willing to instantly give it up in Twilight. Even at the end of New Moon. Without much regard to Charlie or Rene but Edward is the one who wanted her stay human. I was thankful that she felt something about it later on. It did show her as human, but I find it hard to see her sacrifices as uber noble. My main example is Charlie in Breaking Dawn. She knew that she would have to let Charlie go, but again (as she did with Jacob) she was going to drag him along. Until Jacob (heaven love him) forced her to do something about it. I understand her losing Edward made their love stronger but my mind still returns to her having to choose. She didn't do it right away. That alone is enough to tick me off and find it very, very hard to see her in a good light.

I like Edward. I love Jacob. Her lack of "guts" to make a choice bothered me. Just as when Edward proposed she had second thoughts. Here she has been the entire time, professing that Eddiekinz is the love of her life, but she questions marrying him? If it were the love of my life asking me to be his wife, I wouldn't hesitate at all. The pain that she inflicted on Edward and Jacob is what makes me dislike her SO much. The fact that she KNEW what she was doing drives my dislike even farther. Typically when you are harming someone, and you know it, you are suppose to stop. She didn't. I wanted to slap her. Until Leah chewed her out in Breaking Dawn. Goooo Leah!

The hardest thing to do is follow your heart. Especially if you are like me and you question it all the time. And especially if you don't trust it they way you use to.

Of course Sam felt a ton of remorse and unhappiness. Who wouldn't? But my point is he didn't bounce between Emily and Leah, feel guilty for it, and continue doing it. He was noble and man enough to make that choice and cut Leah loose. That is why I can't hold a grudge with Sam. He did the right thing when it came to Leah and Emily. Bella refused to be that kind to Edward and Jacob. Just how I feel :-)

I adore Leah and find her to be my heroine of the saga because of this....when her heart was shattered, and she was left broken on the floor what did she do? She got back up and didn't lean on someone else to make herself feel good. True she was bitter but when my own hole appeared a couple years ago...I was bitter too. But for Leah, Sam was the love of her life.

See, I guess our difference in opinion is that I don't think that Bella went back and fort AT ALL. At every step of the way, she said she NEVER HAD A CHOICE. There was never a question in her mind, or in anyone else's, as to what she would do. However, she did have trouble actually letting go of being human. She had trouble letting go of her human life, and letting go of Jacob. I just CAN'T fault her for that, even if she did end up hurting people. In life, sometimes you're selfish, and you end up hurting people, even when you don't want to. That's the point of Eclipse. Bella grows up, and understands that she can't keep hurting people. She understands that she can't have it both ways: she can't have Jacob as a friend, and marry Edward. So, she does the mature thing, and ends her friendship with Jacob. There was never a choice as to what she would do (she always makes that clear), it was actually getting to DOING it that was hard. And again, I can't blame her for that, because if I had to give up my entire family (I love them like you love your family), I can't say that I would do that easily. It would be unimaginably hard for me, like it was for Bella. With Sam, the other thing to remember is that he didn't have to give up an "easy choice." Sam didn't have to become a vampire (LOL), so there weren't any real sacrifices to make (other than giving up Leah). With Bella, she had to give up Jacob, and the LIFE THAT HE REPRESENTS: A life in which she could keep her parents in her life, and a life in which she could stay HUMAN.
All Sam had to do was break up with Leah. What Bella had to do was INCOMPARABLY harder. She didn't just give up one person: she had to give up EVERYTHING that she's ever known to become one of the undead!
When it comes to marrying Edward, Stephenie Meyer has said MANY times in many interviews that the ONLY reason Bella was hesitant, was because she thought it was embarrassing to get married at 18, as Bella said in the books (LOL!) She thought that everyone would make fun of her, and she HATES being the center of attention. But once she actually saw Edward's face during her wedding, as she said, "Nothing else mattered but that I could stay with him."

I also love Leah :) I felt sooo bad for her, I could never hate her the way some people did.

I think that is where our opinions differ so much too. I do see Bella as going back and forth, and why I see her a selfish little itch. Jacob walked away from her at the end of New Moon. What does Bella do? Leave him alone? Of course not! She sends letters via Charlie to Billy to give to Jacob. Numerous times, until Jacob responds, my little love sick alphaman. Then she keeps his response in her back pocket. Edward specifically says that he doesn't want Bella to see Jacob. That being around Jacob was dangerous (which I found seriously hypocritical of Edward to say) and what did she do? Listen to Edward? Nopers. Respect his concern for her? Hale no! She went behind Edward's back and snuck off to La Push. Finally at the end of Eclipse she makes her choice. Then Edward, in all his noble ish, sends Jacob a wedding invitation. Holy.crap I cried! Then I screamed and lost my Edward obsession lol. When BD rolled around Bella was still calling Seth and crew about Jacob. After poor Jake ran away in wolf form to escape the pain SHE inflicted! Instead of letting Jake go, once and for all, she is still trying to pull him in. Jeez I wonder why Jakey kept going back to Bella. Of course she wouldn't think of him on the honeymoon. That would just be wrong. Although Jacob, a broken headboard, and feathers all around does send my dirty little brain into a fury.

Bella wanted to become a vampire though. That is my point with that subject so I find it hard to see her sacrifices as noble. She wanted it so I don't really see it as a sacrifice. She was already willing to give it all up, family included, way before Eclipse. There was never a choice, as you have said, but she just inflicted so much pain on people. It would be different for me if she stopped, but I grew tired of her constant b***hing and griping over the guilt she felt for hurting Eddie and Jakey. I'm sorry. If you feel guilty then um here's an option...bleeping stop! I enjoyed watching Bella grow up but I found ever step forward she took, she fell back three flights of stairs. And it wasn't due to her clumsiness. Example, Charlie in BD again. She was already planning a way to keep him in her life and be a vampire. The whole cake and eat it too syndrome. Even though it goes straight to your thighs.

I believe that Sam gave plenty of sacrifice. First, he is the one and only wolf for a while. He imprints on Emily. He shatters Leah's hopes and dreams and has to let her go. Leah was the supposive love of his life and they made plans together. Even if he did imprint he still felt guilty afterwards. Leah WAS his "easy choice" obviously because of the imprinting. Was the love for Emily stronger than Leah? Yes it was, but (my opinion) their threesome kinda follows Bella and her men. It's still the same basic love triangle except I found Sam way more noble than Bella. If Bella had just let Jacob go, instead of remind me every five flipping pages that she felt guilty, maybe I would feel different.

I know that her hesitation came from embarassment but still. Come on. Edward proposed to her and she didn't say yes instantly? Instead she needed to think about it? Oye. Good thing you can't slap the hades out of fictional characters otherwise Bella may not have made to BD.

Where you felt anger for bella, I felt sympathy and understanding for her.
I see her sacrifices as SO much harder than Sam's, because she had to give up her ENTIRE family, and human life for Edward, AND break Jacob's heart, whereas all Sam had to do was break Leah's heart. To me, there's no comparison, Bella had to sacrifice literally more than anyone has ever sacrificed EVER. She literally had to give up her humanity, and everyone she's ever known. Sam didn't have to do any of that.
When it comes to Charlie, she was very clear with him, that she may not always be around, and if she had to leave, she would definitely leave. It didn't bug me that she brought him into the mix, because it was always on the condition that if she had to leave, she would go. (Plus, it was JACOB who told Charlie in the first place, and risked Charlie's life! LOL!). And, I can't blame her for trying to keep her father in her life, if there is a way! She still lost her mother, who she basically raised for seventeen years!
It comes down to the fact that I can really sympathize with how hard it was for Bella to have to give up everything and everyone. I can sympathize with her trying to hold onto her humanity until the end. She loves Edward "more than anyone has ever loved anyone", but her sacrifices still blow me away. I can't blame her for trying to hold onto her human life for like a total of 2 months (which is about how long Eclipse spanned).
In terms of the wedding, I would also be embarrassed about getting married at 18, even to the love of my life! LOL, I also HATE being the center of attention, and love blending in with the background...I can really relate to her when it comes to that!

In the end, I felt the most respect and sympathy for her because she had to give up everything for Edward, but she had the strength to make those sacrifices in the name of love, all the while knowing that from the moment she met Edward, she couldn't live without him. Did she hurt some people along the way? Yes. But with everything she had to give up, I can't blame her for trying to hold on for a little bit longer.

I defintley have to disagree on the sacrifice part (I'm sorry!!) I don't find Bella's sacrifice anymore heroic than Sam's. Bella did have to give up her parents which is sad, but again she wanted that. As for Sam, he did give up his humanity, the love of his life, and any future plans they made. He never wanted that. He did give up his life to protect the Quilette tribe. Just simply breaking up with Leah, in my opinion, doesn't even begin to cover it. Plus he left scars on Emily, because he had to give it all up when he transformed. I feel sympathy for him actually lol. I just don't see much of a sacrifice for Bella. Edward is the one that wanted her to hold onto the humanity. She wanted to be a vampire and she got it.

I was so proud of Jacob when he brought Charlie into it. I was even happy that Bella could to keep her dad for a while. The bottom line for me with Bella, is I found her just to be incredibly selfish. It was typically about what she wanted and to hell with everyone else. I was infurated with her treatment of Jacob. I was boiling mad with her treatment of Edward. I just don't believe she deserved either one of them. The only time I sympathized with Bella was in New Moon. I know what that burning, empty, hole feels like. I know what it's like to just lay in the dark and pray for the ability to breath again. Even if it hurts to breathe. I know what it's like to go through every single day as if it were a dream. That is also why I am SO darn peeved with her. She loses the love of her life, he comes back, and she doesn't let Jacob go? Bella doesn't hold onto Eddie and never let go? What the ish? lol. If you asked ANYONE who has lost a loved one, what they would do if they could have them back, I seriously doubt they would say "I want them and my best friend too" I would cling to my lost loved one like it was nobody's buisness.

Yup, I definitely LOVE and sympathize with Bella. With Sam, I respect all that he did, but most of the stuff you mentioned, had nothing to do with Leah. Whereas all of Bella's sacrifices were for Edward. In terms of him leaving in NM, it was that pain that allowed her to give up her entire human life, all the while knowing that she never had a choice. It was that pain that made it impossible for her to spend like an hour away from Edward in Eclipse. That pain allowed her to make sacrifices that anyone else would think are UNBEARABLE. Yup, in the end it comes to the fact that I LOVE Bella, and the way she loves Edward, and what she sacrifices, blows me away.

Jacob only ever asked for Bella. Everything he did was to get her to admit how she felt and to choose him.
Really, I shouldn't be this shocked by how hard people are on a really nice guy, but somehow I still am. I guess Perfect McSparkleson makes all other men seem like sore losers.

Frankly, you can have him. There are at least a few of us who prefer the nice guys to the "perfect" ones.

Stephanie Meyer had to basically destroy Jacob's character in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn so that Bella would end up with Edward. If she let Jacob's character develop naturally, Bella would seem like a complete idiot for not picking him (which I still think she is, but whatever).
She felt the need to make Jacob be uncharacteristically evil to make Edward (who does many, many illegal and creepy things) seem like the correct choice.
Also, keep in mind that we hear the majority of the story via Bella. It's a mistake to assume that her perception is always correct.

Obviously, kissing somebody against their will is assault. But what if it wasn't against her will? What if she just wouldn't admit how she honestly felt?
And I can only speak for myself but I'd way rather have my smokin' hot best friend kiss me than my undead bf disable my primary mode of transportation.

I'd be like, "Sorry, Edward. My other ride is Jacob Black. Catch you later, sucka."

For me, I did find Edward as nice and about as far from perfect as he can get. I personally do not hate him, and I understand why he left in NM.

I think for some people, as myself, the turn off is when he pulls over the top stunts. Such as, disabling Bella's truck. That part just rubbed me the wrong way.

I didn't like the over-bearingness of either guy, but I could never get over Jacob forcing himself on Bella. I actually LOVED Jacob in NM, as a great friend. But what he did to Bella in Eclipse was assault. It bothers me a lot that the book made light of that. I actually had a long talk with my nieces after they read it and told then, "You NEVER stay with a guy who forces himself on you like that! It only leads to more agressive behavior later on, even if they apologize."

Part of growing up is understanding that everything we do has consequences. She's so worried about Jacob throughout Eclipse but never once considers Edwards feelings? She 'senses' Edwards disapproval but continues to sneaks letters, calls, and visits to Jake? I can only imagine how much pain Edward is in. And I think Edward begins to doubt Bellas love at the end of NM.

I dont think we should be so harsh with Jake (not in NM at least). He didn't know Edward was coming back. Once he was in love with Bella, can we truly blame him for trying to win her affection? Or for trying to keep her from hurting? We have to factor his age and experience with girls. He doesn't know better. He's patient, kind, loving, caring, and he promises to never hurt her. Is that so wrong?

LOL No ur not the only one. I was kinda happy he left I felt sorry for Bella at first. I cried when he ran away in eclipse and when he had to leave his pack to save her. I really feel his pain over any of the other characters. I really don't know y people don't like him. or y people are in denial that Bella loves him (and not as a brother) Like Jake says in the book they were soul mates in the natural world where there was no magic. Though I understand Bella's love for Edward I think Jacob a better pick. She wouldn't have to change who she was for him and he wouldn't have to change who he was for her. That's the way love should be.

But I think people love the character Edward because he's their idea of perfection (which is how Stephanie wrote him no doubt) He's their and Bella's utopia. But Jacob's not perfect he's pushy but I think he's so much more beautiful inside than Edward. he sacrifices so much for the girl he loves who loves someone else. the way they fall in love could have been beautiful if she would have open her eyes. But Im happy she ended up with Edward she didn't deserve Jacob.

The whole Edward/ Bella thing is so disturbingly cold and contrived. If I had read the series when I was younger, I would have been completely terrified of falling in love. It just seems like nothing but work and sacrifice. It's not like it's real love just because it's epic.
Maybe people have different experiences of love. Maybe they think love at first sight and the ensuing infatuation is better than a natural, comfortable, and easy love. That's their prerogative, I guess. I'll just never think of Bella as anything besides a completely blind, self-absorbed fool stuck with a jaded dead guy with a messiah complex in a "small but perfect piece of forever."

I didn't cry at all when Edward left. In fact I was angry because he was being overdramatic and going overboard (as he so often tends to do.) I love Edward, don't get me wrong, but this was a huge mistake. This one bad choice started so much trouble and he ended up hurting not only Bella, but himself and Jacob as well.

The only time I've cried is like you--at the end of Eclipse. I cried at work all night long off and on. It was pretty pathetic... but I felt Jacob's pain in Eclipse and I felt it in Breaking Dawn too. The kid is the most real person in the whole story to me. My compassion lies with him much more often than Bella or Edward.

Well, Kristen is more excited for New Moon mainly because she wanted to do Bella while in the "zombie" stage.
I feel that now Kristen knows how huge the fanbase is, that she'll actually try harder and preform better. Twilight was just a low-budget Indie film when it first started. The fans are what made it so popular.

I just read that "gossip" report that said making Taylor famous is like a "project" for Kristen and Niki. This sounds crazy, but that makes me worry that she will try to play up his leading man role more than it should be. Does anyone else worry about this, or am I being paranoid?

Remenber Kristen has not read Eclipse yet, so I'm pretty sure her good feelings for Jacob will disappear too, trust me I know why she likes Jacob now I did too, but oh boy Eclipse, Eclipse, I wanted to punch Jacob just as badly.

I love Kristen's description of the 'gut feeling' thing. My mother always taught me to listen to it and I swear it's always dead on. I think she really understands Bella more in this film/book than she did in Twilight. If she can rock it out the way she did in Speak then this movie will be awesome.

With the whole Jacob thing....just so I have this correct. He deserved to have have heart broken? How does anyone deserve to be hurt? Bella bugged the ish out of him to speak to her again. She could have left him alone. If I recall he tried to stay away from her but SHE pulled him back in. Several times. Even if I did want to throw the book at him and say wake up.

I had to read NM so many times to get the feelings down right. At first, I hated Jacob. Yes, he seemed like an immature clingy teenager. I didnt like Bella for using him either. After the-10th time I read it-I finally get it. Bella never uses Jacob. She's trully honest with him, tells him over and over that she loves Edward...PERIOD. But you have to go back to Twilight and remember how 'guilt' makes her react. I trully belive her relationship with Jacob is not love the way a man loves a woman. I think her love really generates from wanting to spare him being hurt and loving him as a brother. Thats why she's constantly drawn to him, the idea of sparing him that pain. Even after she kisses him in Eclipse and realizes she loves him, she never really thinks about him at all after she marries Edward.
When she returns from her honeymoon, she doesnt ever see Jacob as the second love of her life. She's just happy that he's in her life again.

Im not sure why people think her relationship with Jacob should dominate the NM movie. I TRULLY BELIVE ECLIPSE ILLUSTRATES THAT MORE. They spend somethink like 6 weeks together IN NM (not including the time they are apart). She spends 1 week in a like coma stage, then 4 months mourning Edward. AND she's constantly thinking about Edward (even while with Jake) eventhough she says she cant think about him. So...I guess we just have to wait and see what the directors do with this movie.

You have to remember that this is a book. You can only feel what the writer whats you to feel.

But its not in the same way that she loves Edward, because its so INCREDIBLY different in magnitude. Edward IS Bella, and Bella IS Edward. They CANNOT be apart. Hence the comparison to Wuthering Heights.

What I mean is that Stephenie never convinced me that Bella loves Jake in any other way than just friendship.

But the way that Bella loves Jacob is friendship...with the added knowledge that in a world in which there was no Edward, then that friendship could have grown into something more. But, that's not the world that Bella lives in. In her world, Bella can't live without Edward, so all she can offer Jacob is friendship. That's why (in BD book 1), she always refers to him as her best friend. Because that's all he can be for her, because of her love for Edward.

Absolutely, Bella knows that her friendship with Jacob can grow to be more, however, she also knows (in NM) that she's not ready to move on. Thats why its so hard to believe she loves Jacob later on in Eclipse. She never committed to Jacob at all. She loves his friendship and nothing more.

Even in Eclipse, all she's saying is that she loves him in the sense that if there was no Edward, then she could be with him. That's the whole point, she could never commit to him in any way because of how incredibly much she loves Edward. All that happens in Eclipse, is that she comes to understand the POTENTIAL she could have had with Jacob, IF she had never met Edward. But from the moment she met Edward, she couldn't live without him. Nothing changes in Eclipse: she just gains an understanding that in a different world, she could have been happy with Jacob. But not in her world.

This is exactly the way that I see this whole Bella, Edward & Jacob thing. I'm glad that someone else sees it the same way. I really thought that I was the only one....

I don't want to offend anyone else, but i think its an age thing. As you get older, you realize that things aren't "black and white." There are so many different ways to love people, all in different depths and magnitudes. However, loving, or having loved, other people, does NOT lessen the way you feel about your "true love."
The way that Bella loves Edward is truly inexplicable...its the kind of love where they would literally DIE without each other.
Like she says in Breaking Dawn,
"nothing else mattered but that I could stay with him."

She talks about Jacob leaving a tear in her heart and she tells him she loves him. Not just the potential they had. I understand that she never chooses Jacob over Edward, but my problem is when does she fall in love with Jacob?

exactly, she does love him, because of (as she says) what they WOULD HAVE been. She says over and over again, that IF there was no Edward, THEN she would have wanted to stay with him, and she would have been happy with him. She loves him entirely based on potential. She comes to love him in NM (he was there for her at her lowest point), and in Eclipse. But, its an entirely different kind of love. Its not just a matter of "choosing" Edward, its the fact that because of Edward, she never had a choice. Her love for Edward is on an entirely different level...the two kinds of love are incomparable because of the incredible difference in magnitude.

Karen you get it! I've been trying to get people to admit this. Bella learns to love Jake in Eclipse. So if thats right, what the hell? Thought Edward was her other half. lol

If you go back to the night at Port Angeles with Jessica she actually wakes up without Jakes help. She says that the pain had not weaken over time but that she had grown strong enough to bear it. People give Jake too much credit for her mental wellbeing. Bella finds the healing within herself and Jakes friendship is a bonus. The delusions of Edward is what keeps her going. The idea that he cares for her and to hear his voice makes Edward real to her again. You can see this especially when she visits the Meadow without Jake. She seeks that relief from the 'voice' in her head.

The Bella that fell in love with Jake was a Bella that didn't have Edward. When Edward comes back she cannot force herself to give Jacob up in Eclipse, even though Edward wants her to let him go. She had the choice to dilute Jacob's feelings easier in time (she knew how Jacob felt, even in New Moon) but she didn't. She pursued their friendship even further, again, KNOWING that Jacob is in love with her. It wa selfish of her, but she wasn't *trying* to hurt anyone, therefore I can't fault her. Stephenie Meyer says Bella didn't give Jacob up because she was in love with him as well and denied it. Denying it made it easier to live with. In the end all three of them hurt each other in different ways, they're all victims and perpetrators.

Two soulmates for two different lives.. if Edward were out of the picture Jacob would be hers. That's what Stephenie is trying to show the reader when Bella kisses him and sees the potential life she was giving up. Never once does she ever consider Jacob *over* Edward... EVER.

And she's not insane or even heading in that direction. She's morning Edward's absence. The 'voice' only makes thinking about him bearable. She's not hearing voices (plural) just Edward's. Jumping from the cliff and Harry's passing brings her life into perpective. She finally realizes that she has to let go of all the foolish things she was doing and 'growup'. And she admits that letting go of Edwards ' hallucinations is the right thing to do. Although at that moment she cannot make the decision because she finds its 'painful'.

I can't STAND Jake. But, I think SM made it clear that his purpose in the story was to present Bella with an alternate route, as opposed to her continuing with her hallucinations. Jacob's purpose was to try to help her "get over" Edward, and thus stop her from having her hallucinations, thus "saving" her. While Bella did say that she was going to try to "grow up" and stop having hallucinations, the statements she made in Eclipse ("I HAVE to be with you. Its the only way I can live.") make it clear that Bella CANNOT live without Edward, no matter how hard she tries. Without him, she literally can't survive. If she had been away from him any longer in NM, she would have tried to continue with her "life", but there's no doubt that in the end, she would have killed herself in some way . That's the point of NM: no matter how hard she tries, she just can't survive without him. (that's the understanding that she gains in NM, which she explains in Eclipse: she CAN'T live without Edward. Like she says, being with him is the ONLY way she can live.)
Again, that's the entire point of NM. She tries and tries...and TRIES to live without him, but in the end, she just can't. That's what she learns, and that's what she explains in Eclipse.

She would have moved past Edward in time *if* Alice never returned. Why? Because she thought Edward didn't want her. Edward didn't croak... he didn't get kidnapped... he didn't move to an out-of-state college. HE LEFT HER.

Bella's time with Jake was allowing her to become a whole person again. Her dad, her school friends, no one even came close to Jacob's progress with her. She was almost to the point where she was going to let herself be with Jake. It didn't take her long to even reach that point... because Jacob *is* that soulmate in a world without Edward.

She "uses" him because he is so good at being her personal sun... and it's partly *because* of Jacob that she wouldn't kill herself over Edward. She didn't cliffdive to kill herself, she did it because it was something reckless to hear Edward's voice. She fought to reach the surface, she didn't just let the tide take her willingly. When she was on the brink of death she was only accepting it because she didn't have a choice, she knew she was drowning. After this jump... she's in the truck with Jacob and he has his arm around her. Does Edward's voice say "Don't get too close to him" ?? No. He says "Be happy." This is her hallucinating heart speaking to her in his voice. Her HEART was telling her to be happy, even without Edward. Which is why she stiffened up then, because it freaked her out. A happy life without Edward? She thought it was impossible. But little by little Jacob was proving her wrong... he was helping her to help herself. She was indeed living without Edward... in fact she was learning to be happy again. Her hallucinations weren't yelling at her anymore for being stupid... they were encouraging her to be happy. She was on the mend. She was finally moving on.

Edward on the other hand would be losing out on his soulmate... so do I like this scenario of Edward staying away and Jake and Bella being happy together? No. I want all three of them to be happy, and there is only one way for that to happen, and it does.

When Edward comes back in New Moon there is no hope for her... she knows Edward's true feelings and why he left. *THEN* is when she knows she truly can't live without Edward. The only window of time Jake had to win her over was in New Moon before Alice came back. But Alice ruined it so... lol. It's a good thing her and Jake didn't get in any deeper because Jacob's pain would have been ten times worse.

Yes, Jake does offer Bella an option. Which she considers several times throughout NM, however, I dont agree that Bella would have killed herself eventually because she cant live without Edward. She says that herself , that she never considers suicide even in the beginning.

Yup, I guess we do disagree when it comes to that. Jake represents an easy way out, but in the end, she just can't live without Edward. She says over and over again in Eclipse, that being apart from Edward in NM made her fully understand that she can't live without him, that being with him is the ONLY way she can live, and that would literally die without him. SM also said in a few interviews that Bella can't exist without Edward, and SM talks about how Bella is a strong character, by praising her strength in NM for "lasting" as long as she did without him.

but, also, what she says in Eclipse REFLECTS the understanding that she gained. During NM, she didn't fully understand that attempting to live without him, is futile. This is an understanding that she gains via her experience apart from him. Its an understanding that she fully explains in Eclipse.

I also think that when Bella says she cannot live without Edward she is speaking metaphorically. She cannot have a 'life' without him, she cannot be happy without him, and that she can never move on. But unable to survive without him? She's already doing that. She's not locked up on a hole killing herself.

I agree. Bella learns so much more about her love for Edward in NM. But I dont agree with the whole cannot live without him/kill herself idea. She says that she can edure as long as Edward exists somewhere. She has to believe that he is out there. So when she races to Italy to save his life she also embraces death because she then knows that she cannot live if he is GONE. Not that she's not with him, but that she cannot live if he is DEAD. Thats the difference.

And no one can argue that they are ment to be together. The books all really lead to the idea that they were created for each other. That they share an all consuming love.

Did you not read the parts of the books where she imagines her life with Jacob? Them having children, being a family and Charlie and Renee' still being able to come around . . . She does recognize what COULD BE if she were to chose Jake. Just because she doesn't chose it doesn't mean she doesn't love him. She was ready to commit to Jacob in New Moon. She had allowed herself to get to that point before the mess with Edward. And I think it is good that Stephenie is showing that there are other kinds of love besides the obsessive love that Bella and Edward have.

Yup, I have to disagree with you there. Stephenie Meyer has also said multiple times in interviews that Bella literally cannot live without Edward, because they see themselves as "one being." Again, that's the reason that Stephenie Meyer has said that Eclipse is her version of Wuthering Heights, and has compared Bella to Catherine from Wuthering Heights. Catherine , like Bella, could not live without Heathcliff, and she literally died because she forced herself to live without him. That's the essence of the comparison. Both Bella and Catherine love someone so much, that they would literally die without that person.
I also thought that this was made very clear in the book, when Bella said over and over again that being with Edward is the only way she can live, she can't live without him, she can't be away from him, etc, etc.

In that water, after the cliff jump, Bella said herself that she "gave up" trying to fight, and just enjoyed the beauty of his face. There's no doubt that she would have attempted to see his face again. I call that an indirect suicide attempt: She almost died during the cliff jump. While people may not call that a direct suicide, it still would have been death BECAUSE she was trying to hold onto Edward.
NM is all about trying to live without him, but ultimately failing. Again, its very thoroughly explained in Eclipse, and in NM.

Love reading the posts and thank goodness they have got fat again - I thought you'd get down to one letter a line for a moment. Its interesting reading all the different perspectives. Its great to be able to indulge my closet obssession with these books here.

On another note, I thought Renesmee explained a lot of Bella's inability to let go of Jacob even pre-BD. It was as if Jacob had to be kept close to enable Renesmee to exist as his love and devotion to Bella is important in keeping Bella alive during her pregnancy at various points (he keeps the wolf pack from attacking, he offers the suggestion about feeding her blood and he keeps her heart pumping while Edward ummm... bites her). Its Jacob's love for Bella that enables Renesmee to come into being who is actually his true mate. It was a bit like it was all fated.

So its more like a supernatural quadrangle then a triangle!

I think like all star-crossed love stories, there is something about Meyer's saga that speaks to all our feelings in relation to love, tragedy, jealousy, triumph, and obsession. I personally did not enjoy the ending of breaking dawn. It's my least favorite book. In NM, Bella keep asking herself over and over again - "Could I betray my absent heart to save my pathetic life?" I think in this sense she is selfish - trying to keep Jacob around without understanding the implication of such an action on his personal well-being. And she does this even as she knows how he feels for her. Although her guilt is ever present, it does not excuse her selfishness. She does not want to lose him, but cannot love him the way she loves Edward. She needs Jacob to keep her alive. And keeping her alive is also keeping the hope that Edward will return to her, and they will be together again. Losing Jacob at that point in her life would mean losing her sanity, herself. I hope all these conflicts come to light in the movie.

Yes, I agree with you 100%. However, you can call Bella's actions both selfish and selfless. She wants to give in to Jacob to make him happy which is selfless, but she keeps him around because she loves his company (which is selfish since she knows he loves her and she does not). However, after Edward returns and all through Eclipse and BD I started to dislike her because its time to cut Jake lose. You cant have it both ways.

I really dont think Bella uses Jacob in NM. She's always honest with him about Edward. The fact that she keeps Jake around is in friendship and she admits she loves him as a friend. She makes mistakes such as holding his hand, the hugging, etc. And she tries to reign back that aspect of their relationship but he doesnt let her. In fact, he says its ok that she doesnt feel the same way. I have a hard time having male friends because its never enough for them. So I can understand that aspect of the story.

I totally agree with you. Alot of us tend to forget Bella's personality, which is key to how she handle her relationship with Jacob. She was selfless (in a sense).

Yup. She's also very protective and feels its her responsability to 'take care' of people. Jacob triggers this in her so often and it draws her to him. She's also endulgent with her mother and this also translates into Jacob. She's quick to forgive him for all the mean things he says and does.

The reason everyone gets behind Edward is because everyone loves to believe true love conquers all as i do as bella always belonged with him, i felt bad for Jacob but some friends are diffficult to let go of as they become a strong, large part of your life too. I feel sorry for Jacob but will always be team Edward!

I agree with you quamquam. I could never understand why the author resolved this story in Breaking Dawn with a happy ending all round (except that her readers might have committed violent acts on their books if she hadn't). She actually chooses Shakespeare's warning about extreme love from Romeo and Juliet. Such obsessive love usually ends in tears. Mind you, I suppose Bella and Edward are both actually dead in the end to enjoy their 'ever after' so I suppose there's still some parallel there. I felt for all the characters but hate them for their flaws at the same time.

After I read Eclipse I had formed my own happy ending to this story. So when I read BD I was absolutely SHOCKED! I wished Stephenie would have taken the time to develop the story in a 5th book rather than rush to this ending. Wish she had included the following in the series:

1) An Alice POV would blow me away!
2) An Em, Jazz, or Rosalie POV (but not all three, that may be too much)
3) Edward POV during the breakup, when he's away from Bella, the call telling him that Bella is dead, his trip to Italy, while hunting Victoria, proposal, hell all of it! (Hope Stephenie writes NM from Edwards POV she could add #1 and #2 to this book. WOOT!)
4) Share more on Edwards story. Even with Carlisle telling part of it, it doesnt seem enough. Is it just me or does it seem like Edward has more money than anyone but Carlisle? Why does Edwards burning more painful than necessary? Etc.
5) Bella as a vampire during the blood craze days. This would add to their love story more in the fact that she trully had to sacrifice her humanity for him. Burning two days doesnt do it for me. Does she really lose anything?
6) Wish she would have developed Edwards and Bellas love story more thoroughly. Especially after all the confusion with the Jake mess in Eclipse. Sometimes I get the feeling that they are actual opposites and that she should be with Jake. lol
7) Explain why Edward proposes to Bella after she gets his family to agree to turn her instead of when his talking to her and telling her what she means to him.
8) Details on the honeymoon, sorry Im not that creative! lmao (not in a sick way, this must of been tough all around)
9) Edward POV in Eclipse or BD, man he's in so much pain. Wish we could 'hear it'. lol
10) Develop the ending were Edward can hear Bella. I love this part but wish we could understand what he feels to be able to experience it.

I would settle for NM being re-written from Edwards POV.

Someone suggested on a different page to do a Jasper POV to show his pain/remorse for Bellas and Edwards breakup. I would love that!

In a perfect world we would have all of those things. And maybe someday Stephenie will indulge her fans and expand on the series. Somethings that bother me about what you are saying: The "blood crazed days." The point of the her story is that there were NOT blood crazed days. She had self control unlike anything they'd ever seen. That is part of what makes her amazing in BD. I also think that Stephenie does explain Edward's burning . . . that Bella is his singer and this makes her smell burn him more than any other humans. And finally, it is explained why he proposes to Bella. He tells her that he is the guy who would've asked her to marry him during his "time." They talk about his and her virtue. These things are all discussed in detail in the books. It sounds to me like you may need to re-read. :) She couldn't go into detail on the honeymoon because her publisher labeled these books YA (young adult) . . . she had to keep the content as "clean" as possible. Also, Stephenie has said time and time again that this is Bella's story. To put too much of the other characters in THIS series would have taken away from Bella's story. I think it would be great if she expanded the saga to include back stories on the other Cullens (Jasper's story alone could be a series) and then Edward's POV in the last 3 books and Jacob and Nessie's story after she comes of age.

People need to take the series for what it is. . . Bella Swan's story.

1) I do however wish Stephenie would add to their love story by showing Edwards side. Obviously, Bella can't explain what the characters are doing when she's not around. I agree, she should write some (if not all) the books from Edwards POV. I say that in several posts.

2) Regarding Edwards burning, I mean when he was transformed. Carlisle says it was more painful than necessary...why?

3) Regarding the proposal. Why didn't he ask her BEFORE the vote? He knows he cant live without her. He loves her more than his own life. Why the wait? Again, this would be answered if she rewrote the books from his POV.

4) Regarding the honeymoon, Im didn't mean actual acts. Stephenie does explain some of Bella's second honeymoon and would it be so terrible to do that again? Hell, she has a vampire breaking from inside her and Edwards uses his teeth to free Renesmee? How is that 'clean'?

And thanks for suggesting I re-read the books. I DO all the time and enjoy them each time. I love the fact that I get new ideas each time. Probably will never put them down. lol

I agree with the Edward's POV thing as do most of the fans of the saga. It would add to their story and give us much more info about the Cullens as a whole (which my friends and I are very interested in).

Carlisle does speak about why it was so painful for Edward . . . he tells Bella it was because he didn't know what he was doing as it was his first time changing anyone. He had to go off the wounds that had been inflicted on his body and this was a very painful process for Edward due to Carlisle's inexperience. The fact that the more venom that is put into the person being changed the quicker the process goes is a trial and error process for Carlisle, something that obviously isn't perfected even when Bella is changed.

I think the context of sex is different than the whole birth scene for the publishers. Idk why . . . but I believe that Stephenie said in an interview that this is the reason she couldn't put a lot of details about their honeymoon in BD. She has also said that she was under immense pressure from her publisher to end the series with book 3 but went to book 4. I think she will eventually write more . . . once some of the pressure from the Twilight saga had died down a bit.

The cool thing about this Saga is that every reader takes away similar yet different things from it based on their own life experiences.

I just wanted to say to those doubting Kristen's ability to bring broken raw emotion to new moon, you should check her out in the movie Speak. She plays a recovering rape victim & Im sorry, it does not get more raw or broken then that. I became of fan of hers afterSpeak because of her ability to connect to the pain. It was spot on. Give her a chance.

Yeah, she's amazing in Speak. I saw it a few years ago and was totally blown away. It's just so heartbreaking~ I've rarely felt that much empathy for a character in a movie.

She was also brilliant in "Into the Wild" she wasn't in it for long, but she did emotion extremely well, and she's a fantastic singer. I think she'll do New Moon brilliantly!

The whole point of the story is that Jacob is an easy way out. But, she loves Edward in an ENTIRELY different way, because of the ENORMOUS difference in magnitude. Bella literally can't live without Edward. They are one soul. She would DIE without him. Like she says herself, its a love "too powerful to exist in a rational world."

The way that Bella loves Edward is so incredibly strong that its beyond words. But, she had to sacrifice everything for him. In Eclipse, she came to finally understand what she was giving up. Like Stephenie Meyer said, it makes EB's "perfect true love stronger". Bella fully understands what she's giving up, which makes her sacrifice that much more powerful. She can't survive without Edward, and in Bella's own words, "Its like Sam and Emily...I never had a choice."

I've read all the books several times now and I have one question. Does anyone know if Steph is rewriting any of the other books besides Twilight?

I'am so glad that kristen understands perfectly bella's feelings in NM . I know she will do a great job! she needs to show how bella struggles with her feelings toward jacob, the way she needs him to heal her wounds and of course her irrevocably and unconditional love for edward. NM is a painful book, i'am hoping to see this pain reflected in the movie. what i like about new moon is that the feelings, the emptyness in bella when Edward leaves is perfectly described! so perfectly that when you read the book you can feel the pain in those words. I hope to see that in the movie.

Yes! I agree with you. I love this book because it has so many great lines about heartbreak. I love how Bellas says that she never meant to love Jacob because one things she's learned is how loving someone gives them the power to break you. I can think of so many great lines from this book, its so sad they probably wont use any of them.

I TOTALLY agree that Kristen completely understands the story. In New Moon, Bella tries soooo hard to survive without Edward. But that's the point: She comes to fully understand that she can't live without him. New Moon is all about struggle, heartbreak, and learning to understand who you are, and who you can't live without.

KStew did an ok job in Twilight. I think the movie fell a little short due mainly to the directors choices. So many great scenes in the book that she didnt include but made up so many that are not in the book. It was frustrating. Why change something that was already great?

I like Kstew, but Im doubting her commitment right now. Im sure Summit is banking on making BD but I doubt KStew will sign on.

As for Robert-I love the deleted scene "She's not one of us" from the DVD. I love how Edward is suffuring over Bella. Makes their love story more...real.

I don't know if anyone has said this, because it would take days to read through all these comments! :) But I think Bella's tie to Jacob was fate and completely unavoidable because of the fact that he'd eventually imprint with Renesmee. Once he did, all my anger toward Bella for being so stupid in Eclipse went away because I realized she literally couldn't help herself. She needed Jacob in her life but didn't understand why.

This is one of the biggest things I hated in BD.

Bella is Jacob's soulmate. Bella loves Jacob. Bella and Jacob kiss. Jacob fantasizes about Bella. Jacob offers his "stud" services to Bella. And...Jacob ends ups with Renesmee?

I see alot of people that dont agree with the whole Jacob/Bella soulmates thing. Bellas says in Eclipse that Jacob is her soulmate in a sane place and "would have been STILL if his claim had not been overshadowed by something stronger."

I dont think that Stephenie developed their love story well enough. Which is why I still have doubts that she loved Jacob the way a man loves a woman, its more like true friendship.

I was almost on the verge of crying in New Moon but then when Jacob's charactor came in I loved him right away. I didn't really have any simpathy for Edwards character after that. I loved Jacob for going thro wat he did in the books and then finally getting something out of it in Breakin Dawn.

Edward left Bell out of love for her, he didn’t leave her to find someone else, or just for the heck of it. When Jasper his own brother tried to kill her he realized it was way too dangerous to stay. He decided to hurt himself in order to keep Bella safe. Maybe it was the wrong decision, which proves he is not perfect, but it does prove how much he loves her. In Eclipse he asks Bella was she sure she made the right choice because he hated to see her in so much pain. He may have been over protective some times, but Bella seem to always be in danger even when the vampires left. In Twilight when that van almost crushed her and Edward saves her, that situation wasn’t because of her involvement with Edward. Bella was just a magnet for accidents. Edward was concerned about Bella’s soul he didn’t want to risk hers even though he wanted her and loved her. Some people hating Edward because he left her is unfounded.

That's the very reason why Stephenie had to do it. Edward had to leave Bella and that's the main reason why he wont turn her. He LOVES her more than himself, more than his own life. What he did was the right thing to do, eventhough we dont want to hear it!

About the whole Jacob kissing thing. I wasn't too upset about the fist kiss. He's 16, has not experience with girls and he's desperate. What I did hate was the second kiss. He manipulates her by threatening to kill himself. It's even worse because he knows she's now engaged to Edward. Jacob let it go man!

About the whole Edward overprotectiveness. I TOTALLY get it. First of all, thats not the reason why he wont allow Bella around Jake. First, he's jealous. He doesn't want her to bond any more with Jake. Second, he's worried for her safety. And he's right, Jake is dangerous. He doesn't want her to get hurt and he doesn't want her dead. He knows what if feels like to think she's dead and he wants to avoid that kind of pain. Third, he suspects that she loves Jacob. He tries to get her to choose, but again that's too painful for her and decides to give her some room. Fourth, he tries to leave Bella again. Yes, he does! ha, ha, ha. Remember the camping scene, he tells Jacob that he asked Alice if Bella would be better off with Jacob. And he also tells Bella that she doesn't have to chose him. How much more selfless can he be? Finally, he LOVES her. Why the heck would he share her. lol

But..lets not get ahead of ourselves. This happends in Eclipse. heheh

Heaven love Renesmee! She is one of my favorite characters simply because she took that pain away from Jakey, due to the imprint. Go Team Nessie! WOO!

p.s. (to clear something up from the comments above) I do not, nor will I ever, condone Jake forcibly kissing Bella. I would have done way more than punch him. I still love him though.

Dear Lord there was some lengthy comments in in thread, it took me forever to read them all Lol. I hope in the future that Stephenie will do a book/s about Renesme, about her life and the who imprint issue.

You are my hero for being able to read all of that above. lol! I contributed and I could barely read it. I want a book about Renesmee's life too. I *think* that is why Stephenie ended it all the way she did. It can easily be picked up again. My fingers are crossed!

I too love Renesmee but for a whole different reason. I love that Bella has Edwards child, this in my opinion is the ultimate act of love (and not her transformation). And she suffers more while pregnant and during the delivery than while she's burning. Stephenie didn't play this side of the story right. I wish we could experience what Edward goes though with Nessie...sorry Renesmee. (hehe) We do get a few glimses when Renesmee 'shows' Bella the vision of Edward holding her in his arms and singing to her. This is so sweet and tender. And thanks to Steph rushing to end the story we dont see much of that.

I wish Stephanie had made Bella go through the whole vampire blood craze days so we could experience her sacrifice and also see Edward and Renesmee bond. This would add to their love story in a different dimension. Edward would learn to love Bella in a whole different level which is what happens in real life. Its kinda like when you love someone its not constant, you learn to love them more as time passes. And Bella's sacrifice would allow us to like her more and sympathize with her like we do in NM, rather than hate her for everything she did to Jake because she gets everything in the end with so little incovinience.

That's cool about why you love Renesmee. I personally didn't really care that she was the child of Edward and Bella. I can't blame Stephenie for how the story ended because the book was 700 some pages. I personally wouldn't remove a thing to show Bella with blood lust.

I do wish that I could go back and find sympathy for Bella. I REALLY wish that I could see her sacrifice. However after Eclipse I was fresh out sympathy and understanding. *points way up at comments* On a plus side, I don't full out hate her. I enjoyed what she did to protect her family and her determination is admirable. She knew what she wanted and didn't stop until she had it.

I don't hate Bella either. But since this is the story of her life we should at least like her or connect with her in some way. I was pretty irritated with her in
Eclipse. And I hated some of the lines she delivers in BD.

The story is about Bella and Edwards love and how they over come all the trials and tribulations to be together. It’s about true love! Edward is the one for Bella, and she is the one for him. All this Jacob this and that, the bottom line is Jacob is not the one! You can go on and on all you want, facts remain, Edward and Bella belong together they love each other no matter what they have been through. They are one, Edward can’t live without her and she can’t live without him. Jacob’s true love is someone else, and we know who that is. LOL He tells Bella in Breaking Dawn, now we both have people we can’t live without! What happens after that we don’t know. I personally believe Edward deserves better then Bella, but that’s who he truly loves.

Thank you Jules! That just sums up my irritations with whole Bella loves Jake mess. How can you learn to love someone else when you are in love with someone already? That's why I never believe that she truly loves Jake as more than a friend. The proof is also there. When she marries Edward she no longer thinks of her love for Jake. Jakes feelings change because he imprints on Nessie but her feelings would not change if she truly loved him. She says that in BD, that she's happy that his imprinting on Renesmee explains the madness of wanting him around during the pregnancy. Her crying over Jacob is more of having to let him go and of hurting him. She cannot have him in her life and that's what hurts her. If you truly loved someone wouldn't it take more than one night of crying to get over them?

I'm glad Jacob didn't end up with Bella....again, he deserved better. He did so much for her and she broke his heart. God, I hate her lol. She was greedy. This is why I found the whole imprinting between Nessie and Jake disturbing. Or any imprinting between toddlers and growups. First of all, Nessie will be 7 when she's old enough to hook up with Jake. While Jake will be what 23? Or will they hook up earlier since girls mature earlier than guys? How on Earth is Edward gonna take it? He will be able to read his daughters mind and Jakes. I absolutely LOVED the movie, and after I read Twilight, thought that the movie was pretty accurate, considering how much detail was in the book. Maybe I would've seen it differently if I had read the book first...but I thought Rob & Kristen were BOTH perfect for their characters! The movie's will not be exactly like the books b/c they have to add some Hollywood appeal -- that's a given. The differences that were evident didn't matter so much to me b/c I was still completely drawn in to the chemistry of this couple....the unconditional love.
I love Bella's character, too -- she IS human...questioning her love for two different people. That could happen to any human if the moment presented itself! It is my understanding that Edward will ONLY be drawn to Bella because that is who he is destined to be with, and Bella IS questioning b/c she IS a human. She was hurt when he left, and became vulnerable to Jacob. Try and put yourself in her place, gals! The good news is that she CHOOSES the right one in the end!

I honestly think that New Moon will be better than Twilight...It's just a feeling. Everyone in the cast says it's gonna be ALOT BETTER b/c of the new effects and they have better makeup for the vampires, ect. I really hope they're right...

Well I think that Jacob is the bestest friend anyone could ever have. I mean do you know any guy who would rather hurt his feelings than hurt yours? A guy who would sacrifice his life for you even though he knew that you love sumone else?
You gotta admit that if Edward didnt exist Bella and Jacob wouldve been great together. I reckon that no one should blame Jacob for loving Bella because she is meant to be his soul mate after all, but Edward comes in the story & everythin gets all muddled up. Im not sayin I dnt like Edward or anything coz he is great and he loves Bella which is the mst important thng i gues.

I am kinda mad at Bella once i think about it because she is just so selfish when she wants both Jacob AND Edward as company. I mean if she loves Jacob why cant she just pretend not to need him so much when she is around Edward and vise versa because when she talks about Jacob in front of Edward.. or when she talks about Edward infront of Jacob this kills them both.

When I was reading the Saga I loved Edward but I have always had a soft spot for Jacob because I know what its like doin wat he does. In BD Edward kinda realize how Bella needs Jacob and how Jacob needs Bella.. He knew that if he died when he shouldve that Bella and Jacob wouldve lived happily eva after as they should.

I love them both but Jacob is definitely my favourite out of the two. If you like Edward better then I dnt hav a problem with that coz obviously he is the leading man. One thing though I hope that all the Twilight Fans out there would see how Jacob is just as important as Edward.. I mean he did help Bella through her darkest moments in NM and even turned his back on his pack in BD in order to save her life.

Even though Bella is being quite selfish to want both Men by her side I understand why she does. I mean like someone said in the past comments She Is only Human after all. Im sure all of us have had this experience before when we want two guys at the same time so yea..

I am just glad that Jacob is happy in the end because if he didnt get his deserved Happy Ending I wouldve been really mad! Everyone needs a happy ending coz without Love life is pointless.

New Moon is all about Bella's depression at loosing Edward and the main thing we relate to setting-wise is the forest. Edwards home is set in the forest, its where the vampire secret came out, where they hunt...It's perfect and shows just the right amount of vulnerability. No rain, no water, no life. No sky, no light, no hope. But the fetal potion shows us she will get up and fight! xxxxx
