New Moon faces some stiff competition at theaters this year. The new Harry Potter movie comes out in July, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes out in June, and X-Men Origins and Star Trek hit in May. Despite all these big-name movies coming out this year, do you think New Moon will reign supreme at the box office? The Twilight Examiner thinks so–
Not only will The Twilight Saga: New Moon be within the top 50 most successful films of 2009, but I dare say it will rank number one.
While, as a fan of the Harry Potter series myself, I can anticipate that this summer’s release will be on par with the success of the prior films, and could see it lingering at the number one spot for the year for some time, New Moon’s unprecedented fan community (who, one can safely imagine, will see the film once, twice, three times or more) will propel the film to the top instantaneously. With up-coming films such as Where the Wild Things Are and Transformers 2, it is imaginable that New Moon will have sturdy competition in the blockbuster arena, but I still think that with the millions of eager nail-biting fans out there for New Moon that the film will take the number one spot and that it will close the year as the number one film for 2009.
What do you think? Will New Moon be the film to beat in 2009?
Several bits of breaking news on Twitter–first, Kellan Lutz has revealed that he’s finished filming his part in the New Moon shoot. Second, Michael Sheen–set to play Aro of the Volturi–has updated with some news of Twilight interest–of note, he’ll be flying over in early May to start his work in Italy–
As to whether he is switching sides from lycans (in Underworld) to vampires, he suggests–
There’s an interview with Rob and Kristen in the Spanish language version of Seventeen magazine, where they drop some interesting thoughts. Among them, Rob says–
Do you have your hair that long for a reason?
We’re shooting New Moon soon. I’d love to get a buzz cut but I’m not sure. Plus, if I audition for something there will be people wanting to see some longer hair.
What were your dreams before you got into acting?
I wanted to be a pianist and play in London pubs.
There’s a song by you in the soundtrack, are you planning on releasing an album?
I’m not releasing an album, that would be too much!
No Rob album? Awwww……. Check out the rest of the interviews at Twilight-Poison.
Metropole, a new watering hole in Vancouver, was the host for Robert Pattinson last night. Myrobpattinson on Twitter was lucky enough to spot him, and has this report after being brave enough to introduce herself–
Robert Pattinson in the flesh at Metropole Vancouver 4/19/09 at approx. 11pm PST.
nicest.celeb.ever. Give this man credit! His first day off in God knows how long and here he is being gracious to his fans at The Dills lil bitty concert at Metropole in Vancouver! Nikki Reed and Kristen Stewart were also there, just a little better disguised.
While it’s a bit hard to make out, here are the first pics of the New Moon Cullen House located in Vancouver. At first glance, the house looks very very different, with the exception of the multitude of windows and surroundings of trees like the house in Twilight. Look at the video for more coverage, and check Twilight-Gossip for all the pics.
Ashley Greene has a sweet new interview with the Australian Herald Sun, where she talks about her newfound fame, but also addresses the talk that there might be something going on with her and New Moon costar Jackson Rathbone–
“He and I both don’t have time to date, but we do have amazing chemistry,” she says.
“We both have such big crushes on each other and it clearly shows. We got along instantly and the day we met, he was teaching me how to swing dance.
“He (Rathbone) does everything. He sings, he dances, and he’s so sweet. Even my mum has a crush on him and tells me, ‘You should date him’. So, who knows, maybe when we both stop running around the world.”
Wondering where Robert Pattinson is? He’s been spotted at the big Coachella weekend music festival in Indio, CA–
Anne Hathaway was spotted in the VIP area wearing patterned harem pants and a cardigan, while Morrissey’s set drew the attention of “Twilight” actor Robert Pattinson, wearing skinny cut-off jeans, and Kirsten Dunst in a short-sleeve mini-dress. Kate Bosworth, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Chloe Sevigny and Zoe Kravitz were also spotted in the VIP area.
I’m jealous….Band of Horses, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes, Girl Talk, and Twilight soundtrack alum Perry Farrell–what a lineup!
The Joy Divisionesque White Lies is also playing–anyone think they’d make a good fit for the New Moon soundtrack? Check out their video.
