The Fashion of New Moon Compared to Twilight

by Will on April 13, 2009 · Comments

in Commentary

200904130819.jpg Boxwish has a new article on whether the fashion in New Moon will have the “Midas Touch” on items picked to be in the movie, like the BB Dakota cargo jacket in Twilight–and further, if New Moon will be able to improve style-wise, and make the wardrobe closer to what is described in the books–

Actress Nikki Reed (aka Rosalie Hale) has been very vocal in her opinion that the Cullens didn’t look quite right in Twilight and of her hopes that these problems will be addressed in New Moon. Likewise, some fans have complained that Alice is more about haute couture than vintage chic, and so should have been dressed in designer labels during Twilight rather than boho one-offs.

Can New Moon’s fashions prove as popular as Twilight’s?

What a load of negative twat! Most of these comments must be from 12 yr olds. Twilight make-up was spot on, and Edwards wardrobe was stylish. He looked amazing in the fitted tee's, pea coat, and those slim fit jeans!!! I was so disappointed when I found out the Rob looks nothing like Edward (from the movie). Hope Edward looks just like he did in Twighlight for New Moon.
  • Alice
    Less is more, huh?

Does anybody know what type of shoes Bella wears when she's running through Volterra? We are all quarreling here...keds...or vans...or something unknown :'D
  • natz
i think they all look good i loved the film carnt wait for new moon ...and rob is so sexy god i would love to be in a movie with him xxxxxxxxxx
  • 5ctBauble
I did like Bella's wardrobe. I thought they did quite well although it would have been nice to see her in heels at her prom. The outfits for the boys were pretty straight forward and ok. Rosalie definitly should have been wearing top designer clothes and Alice was ALL WRONG. The hair was way too long. It should have looked like the artists impression from CHs Directors Notebook. I also expected her to be in high fashion dresses not Boho vintage...Esme was good. They captured the 1920's pencil skirt look but hated her baseball outfit.
  • BlkWidow
I was more disappointed with the terrible white cardigan THING that they matched with her prom dress (They didnt go together at all) the fit wasn't great but I think they could of saved it if they'd used a classy shawl or half decent cardi. Def wasnt the picture I got from the book. Lets hope they step it up a bit in next movie
And if they ever make Breaking Dawn - I hope they make Bella look stunning when she transforms into a vampire and don't have her in some hideous op-shop prom dress n her hair in a ponytail :)
  • Colleen
The outfits of all the characters need to be changed but they didn't have as much funding in Twilight as they will in New Moon. Firstly, Bella is supposed to be tom boyish and she either looked like a hobo or too girly, her only good outfit was when she went to the Cullens. All the Cullen's outfits need to be changed too, they are supposed to "hint at designer origins." they definitely don't fulfill those criteria.
  • Carolyn
I think they did a pretty good job in Twilight - you can't go with haute couture in high school, they probably had some designer labels on regardless - I thought their instincts were pretty good that way. Really even in Breaking Dawn, they won't really be able to put bella in silk sheaths as described in the book, not unless they're more along the lines of Vanity Fairs shoot - in fact those outfits were incredible, Rob's, Kristens - Kellans, Nikki's - styling, youthful - can't ever really see the cast in Beverly Hills gear - at least not of the age that is described in the book - if they followed the book - Edward would look like he should be hanging at a country club, not a high school, just wouldn't work - however yeah, they could get their hands on the hottest fashion - needs to be understated stuff though. A big part of this series is believability that you could be Bella, you could possibly go to high school with these people, they do have to fit in to a certain degree - so they ride a fine line doing that. I hope they didn't change Jake's hair too much and I hope they let Rob keep his a little shorter - Jake's looks a little bouffantish - I don't know too many indians who look that way - his other hair was quite flattering - everyone's really was - Rob's occasionally was out of hand (and varied within the scene) doesn't matter, we love how he looks regardless.

The Cullens are supposed to be very fashion forward thanks to Alice. They were not fashionable at all in Twilight. I agree with one of the posts above about Rosalie's butt looking HUGE in the lunch room scene. Her clothes were not flattering at all. Alice looked more Retro than Couture. Emmett . . . oh please . . . no way Alice would've let him out of the house in the sweat suit for the baseball scene (let alone would Rose have been seen with him in that thing). Idk where they got Jasper's "style" maybe because he had no style and Alice wouldn't have allowed that either. There needs to be a lot of improvements in this area. From some of the pics of the set so far . . . I think Chris seems to have this under control.
  • Soleil
I agree with you, they so did Jasper wrong! Like I said in my comment above, Jackson has a beautiful bone structure and they did nothing with it. Alice would never let her love walk around with those clothes. I think Jackson himself could have done a better job dressing Jasper. Have you seen Jackson out and about, the boy can dress!
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
I TOTALLY agree. Jackson has better taste in clothes than what they put him in as Jasper in Twilight. GAH! Alice would have cringed at that pullover sweatshirt thing he wore in one of the scenes. CH had A LOT to do with what they wore . . . pulling from her own wardrobe for ideas (which was seriously WRONG!).

All I know is the same people that dressed Daniel Craig in the new Bond movie's need to do some charity work over at the Twilight set. I always pictured Edward dressing more like Daniel Craig did as Bond.
  • Tiffani
for me personally i loved the style for the twilight and so did stephenie meyer.
the cullens don't wear alot of blacks. which that would make them look even more pale and like a vampire. they were bright colors. and you have to remember they have to go with outfits the are also sutible for the actor, what looks right on thier body.
i think wendy and cathriene did a great job using the blues, white & greys in the movie.
that's how i pictuted them in my head. and i thought alice was very fashionable(especially the cafateria scene). they more movies to make to get more in the wardrobe.
but i don't like chris using more blacks and all for new moon, and the contacts(thier eyes are not yellow/gold to the point they look scary), and alice's hair is longer. people notice these changes and i don't think that they can grow out thier hair(frozen in time lol..)
  • Soleil
Bellas prom dress did NOT go with her body at all. Rosalies jeans in the lunch room did not go with her body (Both these girls have amazing bodies and these clothes did nothing for them) And from what I seen in the pictures of the New Moon set, I like the contacts much better, they are lighter (like Bella describes in the book, buttery). And as for the black...well thank K.H. they cant go from dark to light over night.
  • Twilight-lover
i didnt like much about the wardrobe...im hoping that chris weitz will seriously hire a good makeup artist and designer. the only good thing about the wardrobe was the "Cullen Crest" they all wore. i thought that was really clever...i personally loved Rosalies pendant that they m akde for Nikki Reed. It would be very symbolic if Edward gave 1 to Bella in Breaking Dawn to signify her offically joining the Cullen family.
  • Soleil
Very good idea Twilight-lover!!! The "Cullen Crest" was a very good prop. And I would love to see Edward give on to Bella in Breaking Dawn.
  • Mrs Renesmee Black
Yes, I loved the family crest! That was so clever. And you are right, I wonder what Edward will give Bella? Hmmmm

I wonder if Jacob will ever get one. lol
  • Soleil
I wonder if Jacob will give Bella the wolf charm in Eclipse or if they will cut that part out of the movie the way they cut out the "Blood Typing" from Twilight (I wanted to see that in Twilight sooooo bad!)
  • LaPush_Wolf
I always catch all the conversations so late lol stupid job.

I loved Esme's outfit in the dinner scene and that was about it for the girls. I seriously sat with my mouth hanging open when I saw Bella's prom dress and those sneakers. Her hair bothered me too, it looked too 7th grade spring dance for me. I guess I just imagined Alice fixing her hair and it being really sleek and sexy.

Those jeans Rosalie wore. Whoever picked those out should have been fired on the spot.
  • Caleb!
I actually love Alice's clothing, she's got that whole boho chic going on for her. It really showed her quirky personality and influenced her amazing character--as goes for Rosalie.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Woaaaaaa all you just took the words right out of my mouth... lol... I agree about Alice, I've always pictured her as this fashion girl w/ the latest designer clothing and that wasn't in Twilight which Im okay w/... not all that disappointed b/c it was the first movie and I was just basically too excited to really care about the clothing, but for sure for the next movies they need to work on that and make it more accurate to the book b/c that truly tells something about each of the characters' personalities =]
  • AQUA
ILL try to keep this short and simple
Alice outfits were okay i wouldnt mind something more i dont know expensive luking :P
Rosalie i agree i didnt like most of the clothe she wore but the shoes at the part where they were making dinner for bella I love those i like what edward wore most of the time but i woulnd mind tighter shirts and pants i dont know why but thatz how i imagine him dress like in the books besides that i think i like what every one was wearing uh yeah some of the things bella wore were a dissapointment like her prom dress HAHAHA not so short after all Sorry ^_^
  • Soleil
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the prom dress...WOW that was painful to see! Kristen as an amazing body so why did they make her wear a dress that did nothing for her body? And I wonder who's idea was the hole converse with tights? Wow, some serious weed was smoked during that decision (along with some of the dialog)
  • Soleil
  • yea i agree 2..... THE LESS CLOTHES THE BETTER...
the people i think they should really improve their wardrove on more is Alice and Rosalie
  • IThinkIHaveAProblem!
I agree with 'Crookedsmile' the less the Cullen boys have on the better!!

I hated Rosalie outfit in the cafeteria her backside looked huge!! but I did love her shoes when Bella meets the family!! I want a pair!

I hope New Moon's outfits are better and that Jacob does spend most of his time without a shirt on!
  • mary alice brandon
hey i didn't notice till today that i have the exact same jacket as Bella in the new moon set pics hey if u wanna know where it's from but i'm so not posting everyone would probably be at the store in like 10 seconds just to buy it
  • Marta
to Mary Alice Brandon: Please give me the cluse where did u bought the Jacket. I am looking for the jacket since april and still nothing. Two of them I am in love with. The one is from the Twilight and the New moon scene in which Edward leaves Bella in forest. Second one is from New Moon the brown one. If u could help me out in buying it aswell as I'm not from Us, I can pay through paypal, maybe it would be ok for u. Please contact me anytime. marta711@wp.pl I will apreciate it a lot. Kisses
  • crookedsmile
I agree with all of you who said that they got it wrong in the wardrobe department in Twilight - though I liked Alice's look. That was the first thing I noticed when they entered the cafeteria in the movie because I was excited to see what they were wearing. I nearly choked on my popcorn when I saw Rosalie. Nikki is so attractive and they made her look the opposite so no wonder she wants some changes. She should have sued the director for making her bum did look big in that outfit. Lol!

In the book, their expensive clothes which are a little out of place for a small town is the one thing Bella does notice. Its a bit like their cars, they don't quite fit. These films have the opportunity to have some fun showing off some clothes and shoes to really get their female audience interested and as someone has already mentioned they rarely wore the same outfit twice.

Personally, for me, the less the Cullen boys have on the better...
  • Jadey
Do not get me started on their clothes.
Their clothes are part of what makes them stand out from everyone else (if their skin and beauty wasn't enough)
The Cullens should wear very expensive, formal stuff.
Alices and Rosalies clothes shocked me the most. It was hard to look at them in the movie.
And the make-up.. was hideous. It looked cheap. I understand they had a small budget.. but common.. im sure any girl could do a bit better.
I did like the shoes they made Nikki wear.. but they looked a bit too modern. I pictured Rosalie wear olden style shoes.. not these huge, thick things. Maybe delicate, thin heels?
They had Alice wearing frumpy layered stuff. Where were the designer dresses and whatnot?

CONVERSE with the prom dress? Common.. where were the heels Alice made her wear?? The dress.. .. could've been better. I don't think Alice would've owned that. And it was the wrong colour.
If they were going to do the movie, they should've done it right. Chris has a lot to fix.
  • amber Bjorstrom
Personally, I dont give a shit what they dress in, as long as the movie is good!

I would love to see Alice more dressed up though since she has been and will always be my favorite character :)
  • Soleil
The clothes and make-up where scary! I always thought of Bella much warmer (still pale), blushing, pink lips, and not as rough looking. I know that Bella is pale but not as pale as the Cullens! I did not see her blush in Twilight at all! And Alice is more couture not hobo. And what about Jasper? As Alice's mate he shuld have looked more put together. Jackson has amzing bone structure but they did not take advantage of it. And Edward could have looked a bit more G.Q. but it is what it is and it works for him. I hope they invested a bit more money in clothing and make-up this time around. And if clothing designers where smart they would be pushing their line on to New Moon. Look at what happened to Bellas light blue cargo jacket in Twilight, every one wants it. It's called MARKETING people!

P.S.- The digital camera can work, Edward can always take out the memory card. And give it back to her at the end with the rest of her gifts. : )
  • cc
i think most of edwards clothes were pretty close to the description. bellas- not at all really. carlisles and esmes were nice. rosalies was okay but i was expecting abit more glamour from her, though i liked her shoes. and alice defenitely was totally wrong, like in that picture up there, alice would not be caught in that outfit.
  • Mai
omg i totally agree with everyone here. the wardrobe was HORRIFYING! it didn't really fit the Cullens at ALL. except for Carlisle and Esme, they were pretty on target. but umm yea...please up the wardrobe a lot. and yes Jacob's wig was messed up hahahhahhahaha...so yea..
  • K.Alexa
i loved some of their clothes but they just werent rite 4 their roles!
  • Sarah Lou
The clothing was not very good. But...the main problem was: JACOBS WIG. UGH! Could they have picked out a crappier looking one? It looked like plastic! Ugh, it was a disaster.
  • sneff
Unfortunately it looks like the same clothes in New Moon as Twilight. Edward has the same shirt only with a t-shirt under it. So I don't have faith that he is going to be looking any different. I seem to remember alot of kakhi in the book, have yet to see it. Maybe making to much of the clothing.
  • lorelei
I think the clothes for the Cullens and Bella could definitely be improved, too. Edward wore turtlenecks and caramel leather jackets. I pictured him as sort of a GQ vampire or at least Vanity Fair. Casual for some things is okay, but still. Alice should be a little more about haute couture. I sure hope they spike her hair up in New Moon like they did in Twilight though, because the one picture I saw of her wig this time was just straight.

I love Rob, but think he should act a little more polished at times and frown less. I know he was trying to show his angst, but he's supposed to be good at covering his feelings except when he's talking alone with Bella.

I know Bella doesn't care about clothes, but still the clothes she wore in the book sounded better than the stuff in the movie (except for the sweats...) Especially if Alice is dressing her at times, she should be in spectacular clothes. Still I cannot WAIT to see what they do with New Moon, I have high hopes.
  • nino
I always thought Bella's prom dress would look like this

    http://www.harpersbazaar.co.uk/?module=images&f...

hahaha but of course MINUS the see through xD
  • Alice friend
the only outfits that actully worked were jacobs =] they seemed to work for him =] but they could have been a bit better other wise every one needes a bit better wordrobe
  • sdsd
Yes, in these pics Bellas fashion definitely has already improved and I am hoping that since this is all pre-breakup, that after the breakup we will see Bella dressing down more like she did in Twilight because it will show she just doesnt care how she looks anymore. And she looks prettier than in Twilight too, so it will be interesting to see how she looks post-Edward, they need to make her look really messed up.
  • Brezzy =]
umm hope for new moon they all have a better outfitts !!! Alice should have blown us away with her sence of style and in the movie she didnt stun me at all=[ also wats with the digital camra thats so dumb if there really going to be using it in the movie=[ cause its going to change the very important sences ....
  • onewithalice
I didn't think Alice's digs were too bad, she was in Diane VonFurstenburg...I'd say that was a pretty big designer. She could use some improvement, I pictured her in Marc Jacobs, Prada, D&G and Zach Posen. A little more classic design rather than Boho. As far as Rosalie goes....she did look like a streetwalker in almost every scene. Stripper heels, not a big fan! Also, those jeans in the cafeteria scene made her butt look huge, which I am sure in real life it is not...who was in charge of her wardwrobe? Surely someone on set would have spoken up when that scene was shot. I like Nikki Reed, but she is not a Rosalie, I think she was cast because she appears to be Catherine's little pet (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) As far as Bella, I thought everything but the prom dress and cardigan was perfect for her. Being from the northwest, and if you have ever been to Forks, you will know her attire was very fitting for the area, in fact I think Justin Chon's character was WAY off in both the way he was dressed and the way he was written in the screenplay. Read into that what you want, he would have had the crap kicked out of him in a logging town like that...guaranteed.
  • Kristina
I absolutely agree with you about Nikki Reed. Don't get me wrong, she is beautiful, but just not the Rosalie in the book. You are soooo right on about the cafeteria scene!! I don't know if it's the way the scene was shot or just the jeans and jacket combo. As for Bella, I love her style in the movie!!! I think she looks like I would picture her. SM gives such a great description of Bella and I think they did a pretty good job with her make-up and clothes. Someone stated that she was too pale, but you have to remember...that's the way she's suppose to be.
  • mrs.cullen
wow i really didnt like twilight wordrobe it so was not them =[ and ALICE i mean she really does not wear that type of clothing !!!! bellas out fits wernt the best either ........really dont like the look of that digital camra for the movie that means its going to be totally difrent for the camra secens thats disappointing =[
  • cullen girl
i dont think its right that they are useing a digital camra rather than old camra ....and the camra sences are really important in the book . i wish they would keep it origanl
  • emma
What are you guys talking about that pic ^^^ they all look so fabulous LOVE IT!!!

the only ones that needs improvement was Rosalie's & the Stylish Bella scenes (cough Prom)
  • Destined
Yes the wardrobes was awful, especially on Edward. The only thing I like that he wore was that peacoat. I remember complimenting on it when I went to see the movie, but everything else was a mess. Bella to me was Bella, except for that wretched prom dress and shoes and leggings with the granny cardigan. Don't forget in the books Bella is so not into fashion at all. So she just wears things that are simple and common, that's why Alice always was hooking her up because of her lack of a fashion sense. So in New Moon, they can't go to overboard with her because it will take away from her character. Alice was not Alice at all. Alice should have been killing the game in every scene with her fashion, the def have to improve on her. Let me tell you why Rosalie is going to be the most difficult because Nikki is not the prototype of Rosalie. Its nothing personal against her, it is just the truth. Her body shape particularly does not fit the description of Rosalie's at all, so they will have to be way more attentive to her. Many fans of the books are still upset she was cast, but it is what it is now. And finally the best dressed def goes to Carlisle. He embodied his character to a tee in Twilight from his dressing to the acting. Here's hoping New Moon will be bigger and better baby!
  • BB
I know! I mean, Edward looks good and all but the clothes are meant to "emphasize" how good they look, haha.
Bella wardrobe was OK, but it was more childish than teen for me. And Jacob was cool. Alice, OMG! I just about threw up when I saw that she was wearing a zipper up jacket! I MEAN COME ON! It would be impossible for Alice to wear such boho clothes. She likes designers and out of this world expensive clothes. Rosalie was OK, her wardrobe matched her personality but it could've been improved. Edward just wore plain regular shirts and the only good thing WAS HIS pea coat. Bella had the WORST dress on in the prom scene. Alice gave her the dress and I KNOW, EVERYONE KNOWS that Alice would never pick something as wretched as THAT. Niki doesn't have that Rosalie attitude and figure, but she CAN do better. Emmett was OK, but Carlisle was wearing tees and plain shirts, I was hoping for suits and stuff. New Moon WILL be a bigger and better movie, because it has a great new director and a larger budget, so CHEERS FOR NEW MOON!
  • AbbyL
I agree with Nikki Reed that the outfits in New Moon should be more 'couture' and 'branded' than in Twilight. I mean, the books make it seem like they wear a lot of wonderful, designer clothes. I recall there was one part where it says Alice never allows the Cullen family to dress in the same thing twice in a row or something like that. However in Twilight, Edward wears his custom made coat over and over. I'm not saying it looks bad on him, no, but I'm saying that the clothing seems quite boring for a family as extraordinary as the Cullens. So what if people notice them? The movie is supposed to revolve around them, and I think the costume director should pick some more flashy, statement type of clothing for the cast.
  • kati230
Bella: I hate actually every single thing she was wearing. I hate her shoes and pants mostly. but this huge creme jacket (size XXL) ...was horrible. I know that Bella has never care about the fashion etc but excuse me ...what was that supposed to be ??
Alice: ( my fauvorite character in the books :) ) I like her shoes, and her outfit in the scene when Bella went to the Cullen's house. But the rest of her clothes... it disappointed me.
Rosalie: I like her dark blue jacket when she was in the hospital with Edward and Carlisle , and her shoes because I felt that they match to her character.
Boys and the rest of Cullens : OK :P

    (sorry for my mistakes :D)
  • hartsafire
I want to see them in designer orginals, thats what the first book describes, even though they didn't do that in the movie, maybe in the NM we will see more of that. I agree with a lot of the post already they didn't do the job in the first that they should have.
  • Soleil
I agree!!! I know they had to work with a small budget so I guess we can let them slide. But they have a bigger budget for ths movie so I hope they use it. And why wouldnt Valentino, D&G, Gucci, ect... want to give New Moon some clothing? I mean look at what twilight did for the light blue cargo jacket Bella had on, every one wants it. So why not push their line in New Moon?
  • sneff
A vampire in a blue down ski jacket is not what I would call good fashion. Especially while Bella is wearing a flannel shirt. Ughhhh The prom was wrong for more than the dress, although it was horendous with the leggings and the converse. Alice surely wouldn't let her out of the house looking like that. I guess they aren't as good of friends as we thought. They have alot of work to do on New Moon. I hope it is improved 100% over Twilight or it will really have ruined The books.
  • Mrs Renesmee Black
I really did hate some of the outfits. I hated the bowling shirt on Bella and I hated the prom dress. I would NEVER buy something like that and neither would Alice. My friends and I constantly argue about Bellas makeup/hair and they finally agree that they can't make her look too pretty. She has the wedding to look amazing and then when she becomes a vampire to look beautiful. With that in mind, her dressing should have been nicer perhaps a little more feminine. I wished they had used a blue top for the night at Port Angeles and plays into the whole blue theme Alice keeps putting her in throughout the books and how Edwards loves that color on her. I love the brown top she has when Edward approches her at the salad bar. She's suppose to be poor and this somehow fits. THE VANS HAVE TO GO! Never been a fan and they are not practical to Forks. The outfits on Rosalie and Alice where not awful but they need to be improved upon. And I agree, Robert did not dress like his character is described in the book. His body is hard to dress though because he's tall and skinny versus tall and muscular. Im not sure a leather jacket and khakis would work for Robert, but they should have found something better. I thought Esme and Carlisle looked good. Regarding the Dossier jacket I DO NOT AGREE because its too hip/modern. Remember Edward is still old fashioned eventhough Alice dresses him.
  • Cullengirl
I agree that the Cullens looked they shop at Wal-Mart than at Nemium MArcus (sp). Granted Bella's fashion sense wasn't that bad, I loved her bowling shirts, and her plaid shirt. But she wasn'r loaded like the Cullens, Seeing the earlier pics of the cast in NM, the fashion has already improved.

    Honey Bee
You are not alone in wanting that Dossier jacket in the movie.
  • i hope they add a little more pa- zazz to the outfits u know i liked most of alices outfits but i think they could do a little bit better
  • YSABELLA
well the whole twilight movie was a dissappointment anyways not just the wardrobe... so new moon better lived up to the book and the expectations since they have more money to spend this time....
  • Twilight-lover
oh and i 4got...Alice was totally pissed and would never have chosen Bella's wedding dress "off the rack" as she put it...its in the last chapter of Eclipse
  • Twilight-lover
Chris Weitz really needs to fix the clothing problem. i thought Esme was the only girls who looked great. Bella's clothes were awful, i mean what was with that discusting huge brown jacket? Alice is supposed to be a shopaholic with a credit card, and since the cullen are loaded, she should be wearing designer labels, rather than the boring stuff she was put in. For Rosalie, i didnt think they capture her look concerning the clothes. Since Rosalie is supposed to be the most beautiful, they should of dressed her like a model or sumthing. Every1 else was totally fine, except for a couple of things that they dressed Jacob in, the beanie with a hugly oversized tartain shirt...eww.
  • jaspers(dont F.. my avi) girl
The girls looks were killing me! Alice would never been caught wearing nothing they put her on the movie, she's too much of a fashionista and will never wear something "out od stile", Rosalie looks were jus ackawrd, i know she`s suppouse to be taller than her sister, but thos outfits and those heels just mede her look so small, and weird,in the cafeteria scene she just look awfull. And bella... c'mon!!! the prom dress? those leggins? CONVERSE???? do i need to say anything else? Ah and not make her wear the blue shirt was just a big mistake. I just need it to get it our my cheast
  • ANGIE
I Loved the way they dressed in Twilight and hope they don't change their style because they may seem out of character if they do.
  • WoodenDance
I dont agree with changing it up really. I LOVED what ALice wore in the movie. I always will too. I always pictured Alice as VINTAGE designer. You dont just loose your vintage style. it doesnt go away like that even with newer stuff.
  • emma
I agree with you I love Alice's style it's Vintage Designer (Vintage made New Hello!!!). People are associating Vintage with old raggedy anne and it's not like Ashley/Alice looked like a trash lady I really thought she looked chic & right. Apperantly people haven't seen a John Galliano, Marc Jacobs & the latest Gucci shows their Vintage inspired lines is Gorgeous, Sophisticated, & VERY Expensive = Alice
  • Lailly_Lautnerx~X~x
Alice really needs to be stylish in new moon! really realy stylish!!! not like in twilight anyway what they made alice wear was just simply wrong! woo new moon!!!!
  • emily
    i adore her vintage look
    dont change it!!
however i do agree they should do something about nikki, she didnt look glam enough x
  • aurélie
Nikki Reed would've been great if she was a thinner natural blond with beautiful legs.. Her allure made her acceptable as Rosalie but in my opinion it wasn't enough to give her the role.

Sorry!English is not my native language.
  • emily
i agree she didnt look excatly perfect
but her acting was brilliant for Rose, she was one of my favourite parts in the movie
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
I would say she might've look thinner if they'd dressed her better! LOL
  • Lailly_Lautnerx~X~x
you might adore it but its not what alice is meant to wear in the book, she wears designer stuff and all that they need to bring out the alice we all love lol
    <3
  • emily
    Vintage can be designer
  • Daisy Cullen
Oh, they really should improve Alice's and Rosalie's outfits.
I am sure that Chris Weits change that.

curious to see how they'll manage it :)
  • They better bloody have a better fashion sense in New Moon, God Bella's prom dress was terrible, saying that if they had off removed the stupid leggings and put a stiletto on her one foot like it said in the book then it would off looked better. The cardigan she had too wear because it was freezing. Kristen said she didnt want to wear it but Catherine made her cos it was so cold. But Emmet in a tracksuit?? And even Rob said in the commentary that in the biology seen it was his own t-shirt!
  • Mrs Renesmee Black
His own shirt? You got to be kidding! CH you are such a hag, just leave directing to someone who knows what they are doing! I forgot about Emmets tracksuit. Looks like Alice has been shopping at the Goodwill. lol

Ironically, the bereft nomadic vampires had a better sense in style. hehe
  • marie
funny. But yeah i didn't even like what Emmet or Edward always wear with its exactions like Edward's outfit in the hospital, it just look too normal, Bella just describe their clothe as very expensive that it looks like they were rich, but here it didn't look like it, but i have to say there were good ones too. And i don't even going to talk about the girls outfit.
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
true, I loved James in his stolen jacket ;)
  • Nina
Was it his own shirt?? should have known...I never liked that one either, looked really washed-out or something. But I think they did the best job with the guys. Wonder how they will dress Jacob. They could just keep him shirtless..oh well ;)
  • the girls outfits could be SO MUCH BETTER..like i mean the ewww jackets things on bella and alice's and rosalie's clothes could have been so much better.....I definitely agree here
  • Jade
I agree about the outfits. Nikki's outfit was WAY too hookerish, especially the gigantic heels, and Alice's outfits were so bohemian. One of the main things is that I don't think Alice would wear pants. Especially since she always went on about how Bella always wore her jeans and needed to wear skirts and dresses.

And it would've been nice if they would've show the rest of the Cullen "kids" at the prom, too. Didn't Alice wear a dress with cutouts all over and Rosalie was wearing some incredibly beautiful gown or something? Would've been nice to see, even if it was just a glimpse.
  • I think the men were dressed nicely. The main problem was with the girls. I didn't pretty much like what Rosalie was dressed with through out the whole thing..Alice outfit in the cafateria scene was horrible but I liked the one she wore when Bella first visited the Cullens..I think it suited her. And oh yeah Bella's prom dress was a disastor..not to mention the converse she had on.. well I think it was difficult to walk with one high heal and a cast on the other leg..but still they looked horrible they couldve picked something different I dunno..

    I am praying for Rob's leather jacket from the Dossier photo shoot to somehow find its way into Edward Cullen's wardrobe. A girl can dream, right? ;}
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
sure, sure - a girl can dream, but I bet they'll use the peacoat again :D
  • bean_Bad 2 the RathBone[Mar09]
    I like the peacoat! :)
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
to be honest I can't decide which is more Edward-ish: The Peacoat or leather jacket ;)
  • i love rob
Yeah....I think there can definitely be improvements. When I saw the clothes in Twilight, it wasn't exactly what I had pictured when I read the book! We'll just have to wait and see....
  • Juju
hopefully the change in budget will help tremendously
  • Andreea
Oh, they really should improve Alice's and Rosalie's outfits. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what they dressed Alice in...like zipper jacket, C'mon! And they should try and be close to the outfits in the book, I didn't understand why they didn't use a dark blue blouse for Kristen in the Port Angeles scene, I'm sure the colour is great for her and in the book it was Edward's favorite colour on Bella. And the jackets were just horror, especially the big light beige one, I know that Bella wasn't really paying attention to clothes, but really?
And the prom dress...Gosh! Like Alice would have ever given that dress to Bella...and again, it was supposed to be dark blue, not light blue. Edward's outfit was ok, and I liked how they dressed Esme, but I have a hunch that Elizabeth Reaser came with her own style vision.
Anyway, I really hope they will improve the wardrobe and the make-up style for everyone, not just the vampires, because Kristen looked weird in a few scenes too...papery white.
  • marie
yeah their makeup also was awful, like Edward lips were like he was using red lipstick and it was not right. And the cloth....
  • UpittyFanny
The prom dress was such a disappointement because it could have been soo much better. I was epecting something like this.

    or even like
    http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/thing?id=4772643
But not the frilly mess they put on her.
I like Edward's outfit though. But don't even get me started on Alice and Rosalie.
  • Brenna
On Bella's prom dress, yeah, that was a dissapointment with how it looked in the movie, looked pretty cheap an unstylish for a dress that would have been picked by Alice, and that she wore a high top sneaker instead of the sexy shoe described in the book, and the dress SM invisioned was much sexier too. Just was dissapointed, I had imagined Bella's prom night get tup as sexy as in the book.

This is the link to SM site where she has a picture of what was Bella's and Alice dress in her mind
  • Tiffani
they have to pick clothes that also fit well on the actors body you know.
  • jaspers(dont F.. my avi) girl
    Totally agree with you
  • Nina
Kristen/Bella is suppose to be really pale. Even in NM, jacob makes a joke about her being an albino. But I agree that they can do a much better job :)
  • Tiffani
she is really pale in the movie.
  • marie
yeah but she sometimes looks as white as Rob/Edward, it was not suppose to look like that.
  • Irishgirl
Thank god someone from the cast said the clothing wasn't right. I thought that to when I saw Twilight, especially with Nikki and Ashley. Those jeans they put on Nikki for the cafeteria scene were hideous, and I never thought Ashley was dressed properly for Alice.
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
yeah, The Jeans :D I almost passed out when she walked in wearing those :O and her hideous hooker shoes in the scene where the Cullens were making Bella dinner. I'll never forgive them if they dress Cullens like that AGAIN! ;)
  • BriSa
yes I agree with you those jeans were hideous!! they make her look really bad, and I also pictured Alice more fashionable jeje. Also Edward was not as I expected, his clothes were not ugly but not as I imagine, he use the gray coat a lot of times, and supously Alice never let the Cullens to were the clothes repetedly!!
  • Irishgirl
LOL!! See, now I liked her Camuto shoes in the dinner scene. I thought they kicked ass!

My biggest issue was the jeans they put her in. I have never understood the appeal of wearing jeans that look like someone took a three inch paint brush, dipped it in chlorine bleach, and then slapped some stripes down your legs. No offense to Nikki, but those jeans, combined with that flared jacket she had on, made her ass and thighs look big. She didn't have supermodel booty, but she had JLo booty with those pants. It was such an odd choice.

I watched Twilight on dvd recently (and my tv kinda widens the image) with my brother -The TwiVirgin, and after Rosalie's entrance he was all like "woooah aren't vampires supposed to be supersexy? her booty's bigger than Mom's!!" :P
  • Mai
    LOL that's funny..
  • bean_Bad 2 the RathBone[Mar09]
I agree, all the jeans were horrendous and the clothes Rosalie/Nikki wore were not very flattering. I mean, she's tiny in real life but you'd never know from Twilight. And don't even get me started on Emmet's tracksuit - Alice would never let him wear that!
  • ya i wasnt a huge fan of the tracksuit emmet wore
  • honey_bee
Agreed! I always pictured Alice as a little fashionista! They made her into some bohemian looking chick hanging out in trees. She looked cute, but it was not at all what I expected!
  • Nina
I think they totally can improve the wardrobes in New Moon. At least make Alice more stylisssshh ;P But from what I have seen in the new pics from the set, everyone looks great! Cant wait!
  • Julie
a little improvement won't hurt ! happy monday Easter all!! :)
