Thoughts on Choice of Director David Slade for Eclipse

by Will on April 23, 2009 · Comments

in Eclipse

200904231435.jpg Larry Caroll over at MTV has quite a bit to say about the choice of director for Eclipse. He has previously interviewed David Slade, who has been chosen to lead the movie, and thinks he will shake up the Twilight Saga quite a bit, even moreso than Chris Weitz–

I’ve interviewed David Slade before, and he’s a very smart, charismatic guy who harnesses some immense filmmaking tools. That said, I definitely thought “30 Days of Night” was a disappointment. It had a lot of fatal flaws in it, usually whenever the blood would stop flowing and it was time for us to actually start caring about the characters. “Hard Candy” also flirted with moments of brilliance, but I still feel like Slade’s best work is ahead of him.

What I am beginning to enjoy, however, is Summit’s decision to hire a different director for each film. Which is surprising, because I was definitely hoping that Catherine Hardwicke would oversee the entire series after the first “Twilight” became such a big hit. But if you’re a movie buff (and not just a Twilighter first and foremost), this is developing into a very interesting cinematic experiment.

To be honest he will probably do good.
He has experience in changing from page to screen.
Catherine..didnt. No offence but she was bad. She put too much of herself in there and not enough of the book
And the screenwriting..that was too much of Catherine there also because the director can overthrow whats to be said and she totally screwed it up
And the movie was two hours yet it seemed rushed. There was nott enough love flowing through them at all.

    Sorry im venting.
Im happy to see Chris as the director because it looks like hes really patching things up
  • TeamEdwardMaryland
I just watched 30 days of night -- not a bad movie over all -- I just hope this guy doesn't turn Eclipse into a horror flick. The battle itself with the vampire army I think he will do well -- but I have to wonder about the other stuff. I dunno -- I am on the fence with this one.
  • Ana
30 Days of Night was great, he might be bringing the dark side to this movie as he should. Also Hard Candy was awesome, even though it was not a horror flick, he showed his darkness while making a movie. I hope he brings the same feeling to the set of Eclipse.
  • RobCakes
I love how everyone thinks Eclipse will be turned into a horror film with tons of blood just because the director did 30 Days of Night. Are we forgetting vampires don't bleed?
He's obviously not stupid and will probably follow the book as he sees necessary, I can't wait.
  • joanna86 aka Charlie's Angel
World premiere of '30 days of night' was in 2007, right? if that's correct then I'm so ROTFLing right now! in Poland its premiere is... on 30th of April so I can actually go and see it in the cinema in a few days LOL!

omg just had a horrifying thought... WHAT IF THEY DO THAT TO NM?! *stares into space in a deep shock*
  • ClassyCullen
I hope David doesn't make this film gory, like some of you are saying.
Eclipse isn't a gory book, Stephenie doesn't go into much detail about a lot of the vampire killings in the book. I think that too much gore would take away from the story. It's not a horror story.
  • Renee
    I'm concerned.
    1) photos of director are wacky - not professional
    2) He's not a well known director
    3) He's reviews are mixed
    4) shouldn't we have great directors fighting for this film vs. unexperienced
    5) seem like his films are horror flick
  • kerbear585
if the gorier stuff is what he is good at. i think that he is going to do great on eclipse. there is quit a bit of action fighting wise with jasper's story, the seattle killings, and the fight with the newborns. i have confidence in david :)
  • Cullengirl
how can anyone say what happens in Seattle is not important to the story have people forgotten that Bella wants to become a vampire and this is one of the reason for Edward not wanting her too. He doesn't want her becoming a monster.
  • i think we should see how he does with eclispe and then judge i think he will do just fine he has past experience with vamps so thats good i mean i know not twilight vamps but vamps none the less so lets give him a chance before we start saying he is a bad choice u know :D
  • ClassyCullen
Yea, he has experience with vampires, but gory vampires. Not vampires like the Cullens. Idk, I'm iffy about this.
  • burningeternalember
its not 4 veiws it only stephs view, put on screen buy 3 or 4 (if they should make BD) very capable hands... seriously if these directors werent compitent then they would hire ones who were =)
  • heatherstreets
I'm very disappointed w/ the decision to hire a new director. I think that Catherine should oversee Eclipse and (if New Moon is a success as hoped) Chris should oversee Breaking Dawn. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Twilight fan. But hiring 4 different directors for the Saga? Thats 4 different views. Things could get messy. For the movies sakes, I hope not.
  • ClassyCullen
Yea, exactly. I actually liked Catherine's rendition. I think she should direct all four.
I don't really get why Summit is having a different director for each film. It's nonsense.
  • Cullengirl
I wonder what some folks thought when they were reading Eclipse or any of the other Twilight books, yes it's a love story but it's also has got vampires and werewolves, and if they are not important, than why didn't Stephenie just make Edward, Bella and Jacob into humans and sell their story to the CW, Network, it would be another ONE TREE HILL or any boring Soap opera, the Reason I fell in love with this Epic Saga, it's because it was the gothic love story of a girl and a vampire, and the struggles they have to go throw plus the cold war going on between her future family and her friends, and her best friend who doesn't want her to join that world. Seen they are vampires we get to see that not so nice onces, like Victoria, the Volturi and why Jacob and his friends fight
    them.

The mature fans love the dark and the edge, it gives the story spice, I'm story that these stories are not bed time stories for you to read to your kids, but it's dark, it's edgy, and we need someone who can have that balance of romance and edge. Like said not your cup of tea stick to the CW dramas. They HAVE tons of Love Triangles and teen angst for you to enjoy.
  • burningeternalember
i will say one more time I am pulling for david I dont think most of you are giving this man any credit he has an interesting perspective kinda diffrent i think....... i hate horror movies most the time like the really horrible ones your husband want to make you watch that make you wana be sick.......but when my man put 30 days of night on grusome or not I just could not look away as hard as i tried....... he has the potential to make this movie as epic as the book and in my oppinion it is the highlight of the seri's, breath people its all gonna work out beautiful have you no hope at all, has twilight taught you nothing (giggle) in the words off bella "there is absolutely hope"
  • Cullengirl
Eclipse was an edgier novel we had Jasper's story which was not pretty we had the slayings in Seattle which were gruesome in detail, bodies burned beyond recongition, the fierce battle with Edward and Victoria, and what happens with Riley. So all those things you folks complain about is in the book. Stop trying to turn this saga into Disney, because you are sounding like such a hyporcite, you bash those who work with Disney yet you want the movies to be sugar coated and sweet, It got vampire for crying outloud and you want them singing? dancing? unicorns?

I can stomach the blood thank you, that is why Twilight deserves more mature fans, and I can see from some of the comments we are getting them.
  • burningeternalember
no unicorns for me thanks i would rather see edward rip that wicker vampress's head off...... The storie of jaspers begining is actually i think way more distubing than Victoria's attempt at a new born amy, and as well it will be very graphic depicting the sothern wars that took place, and the storie of how the new born armys started, lots of dream sequences that are spokie too...... this is supposed to be edgey, it suppose to send shivers up you spine.
  • Cullengirl
One seen that I have in my head is the Quilete story of the Cold Woman, shivers or her companion drinking the blood of the Makah maidens.
  • Karla_Cullen1
    both of his movies sucked!
hope he does a good job...
  • KP
I am a huge fan of the twilight series but seriously calm down people. Anything is better than Hardwick... I thought she made twilight into an awkward and unintentionally hilarious film with her added scenes. I think New Moon will be a million times better bc I dont think it could get worse.

With David... they have the same script writer and Stephanie. He is not going to stray too far from the book or the character development between Jacob-Bella-Edward. I think Daivd is aware of the type of fan base he is dealing with and the fact that we all want to see our beloved series come to life on screen.

Don't be so quick to judge :)
  • miranda3
i've never seen any movies of his, but if they're saying that he didn't do such a great job on 30 days of night and hard candy, why would he be any better to direct eclipse? i do think they picked a good directer for eclipse.
  • Cullengirl
Everyone said the same thing about CW and now people are building shrines to the guy, Don't you know that if Stephenie approves of a director is because he is good? what is that matter you don't trust her judgement?
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
I'll just repeat myself from the other post on David simply because I DON'T want to make any judgements until I see what he does with Eclipse... I won't judge him or his prior work because they are different from our Twilight Saga... I'll give the benefit of the doubt but if he does bad, Oh God... he'll hear from me and other dissapointed fans!!
  • burningeternalember
They have to tell Carlise Obviously I mean its commning up in new moon like right now so...... With the volturi and all, wonder what they will do to bring that to life on the big screen, its a big deal I mean They werenthe first vampires that Carlise meet who were civilived in a sense, he stayed with them for a while and it is a known fact that Aro and Carlise have a friendship...
  • lauraseclipse
I am not hopeful for Eclipse... it is my favourite book in teh series... it is all about characters and relationships.... except at the end with the big fight scenes. I'm none too happy about the director choice for this film.
I realize the vampire characters can't age but for god's sake can't they stop churning these out long enough to get a better director than a horror film maker who has no idea how to develop human stories from a monster theme? These books are about the characters... the feelings, the psychology and the momentum that drives them. It has very little to do with their "monster-ness" until we get into breaking dawn. Then it becomes a bit more about how their monster selves deal with issues.
I don't know i'm so disappointed in what is going on....
  • burningeternalember
I was very disapointed that we didnt get to here James tell of Alices Begining as well, I think that might bite them in the azz..... i mean how are they gonna pull it together after the fact, they cant really change how she was transformed can they? Its so vital for the character development... to know what each went through, they cant avoid it, The picture in carlise office, the night rose tells here horrible unhappily ever after, Esmes grief jumping to her dealth from the loss of her beloved child, HE have to have this in the movies or it will be such a shame, I think that it helps you understand who each of the Cullen is and why they have become who they are.... the details are key (do you her me summit DETAILS) No one worrie about fire and ice cause with Kristen and Rob you know they will never dissapoint, the chemistry smoulders on set between theym like ewards eyes do teh hehehe
  • yeah, when I first watched the movie- I wondered that, since they left out Alice's story with James, would they be leaving everyone else's story out? I was excited about watching Rosalie's story come to life- where she comes back and kills her fiance and all his friends? And Jasper's story is HUGE for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn- I'd like to see some vampire civil wars brought to life, haha. It wouldn't be fair if we didn't get everyone's story, but hopefully we'll at least get Jasper's and Rosalie's!
  • twilightsagalvr
I totally agree with both of you about Alice's beginnings. Because in New Moon she goes into how she was Mary Alice Brannon..and also about how she was looking herself up and stuff. I wonder how they'll bring that into New Moon, when it wasn't even brought up in Twilight??? I certainly believe that there are things that are ok to leave out but then there are things that are VITAL to leave in...hmmm..I really do want to know how they'll explain Alice in New Moon. And also if they'll open New Moon with the Bella having the "grandma" dream?
  • I hope the 'grandma scene' is included- her aging has everything to do with her decision to become a vampire. Plus, at the end of Twilight, at the Prom scene- Edward says, "is it not enough to just spend a lifetime with me?". If New Moon is opened up with Bella's nightmare, that basically answers the question from Twilight. A good segue into the second movie i think...
  • twilightsagalvr
Yea we can only HOPE this director does NM justice. I mean overall i think Catherine did ok with Twilight..but i still think it could have been done a little better..i would have love to see Edward waiting for Bella after every class or the part where he taps into Jessica's mind while her and Bella are talking. In the book they spend almost EVERY night together, the movie however it only showed one night. And WORST of ALL they didn't even put in where he tells Bella he LOVES her! I was really butthurt about that one! I understand about budgets and all but come on!?!? the I LOVE YOU part? >sigh<
  • also, whenever Alice and Jasper take Bella to Phoenix- and Edward is saying goodbye and "you are my life now"... he was supposed to kiss Bella then. It may be a silly little part, and maybe we are die hard fans that are too analytical- but that good bye kiss is a big deal. In New Moon, when Edward gives Bella the last kiss he ever does before the Cullen's move away, Bella notices that his kiss is different than the other ones. She knows he's saying goodbye for good. It's just another little tidbit into the insight of Bella- and how perceptive she is.
  • twilightsagalvr
Seriously! Definitely anal Die Hards! lol
  • sana
Juan Antonio Bayona i was hoping for....

or chris weitz its better i feel having consistant directers.... plus he's doing an amazing job and he has experience in handling franchises (golden compass)

I hope its not scary i hate scary films i dont want to have nightmares from the most loved book (well for me) FIRE AND ICE CAN NOT BE SPOILT is my main concern!
  • I think David Slade is going to great with Eclipse- I'm sure he'll stick to the love story, but add a more intense action at the end. I wish Catherine Hardwicke had more to the fight scene in Twilight. My biggest hope for Eclipse is seeing the characters come to life. Book 3 is where you get to know each of the character's, and their stories (how each of them came to by a vampire- their past lives..). In Twilight the movie- the fact that James doesn't mention his relationship to Alice was a bummer. All I can say it- I can't wait to see all movies in theaters!!!
  • bisforxbeauty
I am kind of glad Catherine isn't doing anymore Twilights. She's kind of nuts. I'm excited to see the next three books come to life. I don't think any of the next three directors will screw up, because they CAN'T. It's this whole Twilight phenomenon. The fans expect so much, so there's this tremendous pressure to do it right.
  • burningeternalember
    that he has* insert opps
  • ancha85
I just don't see how he can mess up an already established story, using the same screenwriter, using the same author's book (who has lots of influence on each movie!), and using the same actors playing the same characters.
I read that he had SEVERAL meetings with both Summit AND SM, so there is no way they would let him mess this up by only focusing on the battle with the newborns and not the characters everyone know and loves so well.
As others have said, he directed both 3O Days and Hardcandy just like the book/graphic novel, so we should have faith that he will stick to "Twlight" as SM wrote it.
  • hartsafire
Actually I don't think he can mess it up...MS. Rosenburg already did enough damage
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
In her defense, Catherine was the one who asked for her to edit the script to include the tree scene, the diner scene, and the field trip. She was doing what she was asked . . . and I think those were some of the worse scenes in the movie (add-ons).
  • ClassyCullen
Agreed. I didn't really see the need for the add-on scenes. It was very different from the book. I think they could have stayed a little truer to the story.
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
Hopefully Chris and Melissa recognize how unhappy fans were and limited it in New Moon.
  • hartsafire
ok, guess i can give her some leeway, but will reserve my opinion on her till after i see NM
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
Yeah, NM will be THE deciding factor for me. I really hope she gets it right this time!
  • burningeternalember
Every one calm down I am pretty aware of dave's work and however some of it is bloody he is a visionary totally. Yeah there isnt a whole lot under his belt that is true but if you have a gift for something (singing acting directing whatever it is) normally you just have it.... and i think summit sees has a vision that will bring this movie to life, It doesnt make sense other wise, summit knows how much money they stand to make off these movies.... they wont butcher steph's work there is no way. This could be a budget issue to, a lesser known director would cost less and leave cash flow for other indeverse. Every thing David has touched that i have seen (love it or hate it)- in the words of james -is visually dinamic and also it is going to make a tremedous difference when it comes to the movie being tamed down, He will be true to the script and wont sugar coat it (he was true to the comic based movie 30 of night) which is totally a good thing, I bet the scence where Edward ripes Victorias head of will be fippin wicked! I bet dave will suprise all the doubters! He will do the movie justice no doubt DONT PANIC twi fans Eclipse is going to be mind blowing and I mean come on teen agers can see vioilence on the new severy day and that is not a fantasy. The twilight saga has all levals of emotional intensity that cant be ignored, romance, comedy, drama, horror, action...... what director would kill for such and oppertunity, its not one likely to come aboutoften, do not despair, I am sure that sumitt has seen our endless blogs and will not let us down! So much intrege and things are just getting warm! Bring it on david, makethe twi doubters beilevers!
  • OhEdward (mouthy since 04/09)
I really hope that you are right. One thing that's odd - his selection has NOT been listed on Stephenie Meyer's site. Her site is usually ON IT and I haven't seen anything yet. Anyone else think this is weird? She has all the press releases from New Moon... why not this big news?
  • meemomoo
As much as I liked seeing Alice rip off James' head, I have faith that Dave will make it look better. Hopefully with less prancing around the fire too.
  • twilight_lover
i just hope he doesn't make the movie be a bloody, slaughter, guts mess of a movie
  • daniel_cullen
Please twilighters.. Understand that 30days of nights was a horror comic book.. A complete blood bath. He portrayed the book as it was written.. He did a good job with it. Yes he is fairly new but so is all the other directors that they have and yet each one has brought with them some "seasoning" from previous films.. Before someone bashes me; understand I loved the books. New Moon especially but Eclipse is the finality of Bella's decision.. She stands behind her decision of joining Edward and his family.. She chooses her life. He'll do a great job.. The luster will not be lost. But I still think they need to up the rating.. Time will tell for that. And yes, the readers are aging as well... Its now a year later.. By the time Breaking Dawn comes out.. Maybe 18A would be appropriate but now I'm on another discussion totally.. Be one with Summit on their AND Stephenie Meyer's decision..
  • Agreed.

I loved 30 Days of Night anyways. I'm honestly hoping there will be more blood in Eclipse. It is where the new born battle takes place after all.

It's not the director I'm worried about though. It's the screenwriter.
    She should have been replaced...
  • marie_C - Team switz
i blamed the screenwriter too, but she is going to write every script in the twilight saga, i hope she did better with new moon and the others yet to come, i also blame catherine
  • meemomoo
I initially agreed with you on the screenwriter comment (everyone has lots to say about how she failed us) BUT then I remember reading somewhere about how Chris made her go back and re-write/tighten up New Moon's script. After Twilight I had my flaws I blamed on her, I have faith that a good director can fix any screenplay issues beforehand.
  • Seriously?

    Chris is doing wonders. x)
He seems to be trying REALLY hard to stay as true to the book as possible.
  • meemomoo
While I'm on the subject of Melissa and Catherine (I need to vent, sorry), does anyone else feel like a few gentle touches from Edward (a kiss on the forehead when he leaves her, a hand in the small of her back, small things) would have went a long way? For cryin' out loud, if they've just fallen DEEEEPLY in love with each other why did it seem like they were just hangin' out! Ok, I'm done.
  • OhEdward (mouthy since 04/09)
Abso -freaking-lutely! Their connection was completely lost in the film. These are wonderful actors - just waiting for someone to direct them as they should be to honor their characters.
  • THIS so much.

It could have been deeper, but then yet, Edward is really struggling just to be in the same room with her sometimes. He's constantly fighting with himself and the small little touches really mean a lot no matter how small they are.
  • Hill
I was hoping they would go with Juan Antonio Bayona. I am a bit disappointed at this decision.
  • RainyDayGirl ♥Haiti♥
I'm actually excited about Eclipse potentially leaning more towards the action/horror side. ::ducks:: For me, I like Twilight because of the world it's created, and not the love story. I actually couldn't care less about Bella/Edward. Tho that's due more to me not being an Edward fan......

But I am not really familiar on what kind of influence a director can have on a movie. I mean it's the script that really dictates what scenes are going to be used, non? I always that the director influence the overall feel of the movie. Like the way Twilight seemed to be shot with a gray/blue tint? But the Golden Compass (directed by Chris Weitz) had vivid bright beautiful colors. Am I wrong or am I missing something? Can any1 educate an ignorant non-film buff? :)
  • twilightsagalvr
I think its ironic. That the main female character of 30 days of night also played with RPatt in that Knight Movie, that was just aired a couple days ago on SciFi. I knew i saw her somewhere before, but I couldn't place, its now all come together..lol
  • daniel_cullen
I agree Katie83 about the rating.. They really need to up them to I'm thinking.. 14A for Eclipse and at the very least 18A for Breaking Dawn. Anything less would take away from each of the books. I to have seen 30 days of night and he did a great job portraying a scary... OMG I need to check my pants but not alone.. Kind of movie.. Can't wait to see what he does for Eclipse!
  • TeamSwitzcob (TRotation/Meg)
Haven't seen either of the movies that have been mentioned, but heard Hard Candy was really good. The guy may be called a rebel, but if he's as smart as is said, he won't screw with the love triangle. If they want to make money and keep the fans coming, he'll make sure he does it right. It's quite obvious that's the main theme.. and if Stephenie is involved again, I'm sure she'll hit that home.
  • 30yearoldtwifan
Stella and Eban were in love also Im confused on why people say he only does gore, the comic was gore so was the movie, Im sure he isn't dumb enough to put that kind of gore in Eclipse. I mean lets be sensible here. He will stick with the book as he did with 30days and the comic, I mean give the guy a chance before knocking him.. JMO
  • I guess time will tell.

You can't criticise a bloke for his work just because you don't like it. I am unsure about him yes but I think they (summit and steph) know how big the franchise (and money making machine) this is that they wouldn't just give it to anybody. They would have had discussions with him and other directors to see the direction they would take Eclipse and from their perspective the best man has been given it.

I don't think summit and steph are stupid to risk it with someone they weren't certain could make Eclipse into something big. Until I see the movie I'm not judging him...I say give the guy a chance and lets see what he does and all in honestly if its remotely better made than twilight then I'll be happy.
  • ancha85
    I agree!
  • STCullen
Bella matures, but the fan base doesn't mature at the same rate.
  • I have to agree with alot of the comments already here-- I am worried that someone used to doing slasher horror films will not get the idea right for eclipse-- this is, after all.. the book that has all the romance- the drama of the love triangle- yeah there are battles and blood.. but the MAIN story is the romance. I was sad to see that in the twilight movie, despite my love for it.. they did not show the intensity of the budding relationship.. I am hoping new moon can help make that relationship stronger, and I feel Chris can do that.. but it is so much more in Eclipse that I worry with this guy... Hmmm...
  • 30yearoldtwifan
catherine set a tone for teenagers the books do mature as Bella does and so should the movies. JMO
  • swoo
I think he will do great and we should show our support as they make the films for us to watch. Lets have faith that they picked the right person for the job.
  • STCullen
    I'm worried about this.
I hated 30 days of night. I actually left the cinema hitting my [then] boyfriend and asking why he insisted on taking those hours of my life from me.
If he it up, I'ma be coming at him with an axe... Seriously, Catherine set the tone for the movies with Twilight and Chris looks like he's going to stay with that but Slade is a self proclaimed rebel and has a completely different attitude to the other directors.

I hope Summit know what they're doing, here.
  • WoodenDance
Thank you! 30 days of Night is a HORRIBLE movie. It's dull and just everything else.
  • Oh nvm I saw the article big deal if Rob and Kristen are holding hands she holds hands with Nikki, its just a show of their friendship
  • IveMB
I dunno is that is true they have no pictures.... but did you read about Krist and her Summit contrat?http://www.laineygossip.com/Kristen_Stewart_told_to_keep_boyfriend_away_to_encourage_rumours_with_Robert_Pattinson.aspx?CatID=0&CelID=0
  • 30yearoldtwifan
Like I said before he has experience making a movie with a huge fan base already from a graphic comic, with a love story. Eban and Stella and vampires. Not everyone likes 30daysofnight but me as a horror fan did. Eclipse will of course be different it more a romance based but the movie Eclipse does mature as the book did.

I left this earlier but in case anyones interested take a look.. a bit Gorey so be warned.

    OME!
I'm giving David Slade my trust but I hope the romantic-action Eclipse won't turn out to be a bloody(well, not bloody in the literal sense since vampires don't bleed), violent and gruesome.
Oh no. I never liked the genre of movies David Slade made but we'll see if he puts his other side in Eclipse.
    Good luck, David Slade!
Be careful not to put some blood when Edward rips Victoria's neck!

REMINDER: Vampires don't bleed but Bella does.. :)
  • hartsafire
I do agree with your comment, but I was also thinking they might do a flashback on Jaspers life, when he is telling Bella his story, and the reason he believes that whats going on in Seattle is the creation of a new born army, not only that but can see a flashback on Rosalie's life as well and her dying in a pool of blood on a street in Rochester when Carlise finds her and take her to his house and proceeds to turn her. But David better keep the integrity of the book as well.
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
I like both of your statements. . . .both are good points. And yeah, if everyone thinks about it, it is the SOUND of the vampires being ripped apart that is important, not what comes out of them necessarily.
  • hartsafire
actually Mrs. Meyers stated this in a Q&A if a vampire were cut, there would only be blood if he/she had freshly drunk blood (and drunk a lot). Otherwise, there would only be a bit of venom. It would be like cutting into granite
  • what? no can u give link I wont believe until I see some proof
  • I think that 30 Days of Night was good and that he will do good for Eclipse!!
  • bxbaby8827
I agree!! David doesnt have a big resume but he sure knows how to make box office hits!! I'm glad that each movie has a different director. It enhances the theme and essence of the twilight saga..Each movie brings in its own vibe..whether its action or romance...Besides, we get to envision each movie and experience each moment of fantasy...i cant wait!!

I didn't see those yet guess i'll have to check'em out....I did see some other pics on another website they were photo outakes from teen vogue of some of the cast all together and the of Rob and Kristin ....I thought they were really good
  • o wouldnt it be wonderful if they end up a real life couple?! :D
  • stephie_bear
no offense, but how would it be a good thing at this point in time? that would mean she's cheating on micheal, and that's never a good thing. plus, celebrity relationships from people that have worked together are kind of awkward. sorry if i offended you, but that's just my opinion. if they wanna be together, then she needs to let micheal go.

I really dont like David slade Movies ....
  • Just hope he does a good job for Eclipse

I saw 30 days and nights, and it wasnt bad. I love vampires (good and bad), so up in the air with this choice...I'll wait and see.

However, if he ruin Eclipse, he will feel my wrath. :(
  • meemomoo
I hear ya and have got your back IndiesR.
  • IndiesR
    Thanks! LOL
  • stehfuhknee_hale
Haha! That last part is exactly how I feel. The Twilight Saga is like my baby. I'm very overprotective of it, and if anyone is threatening it in anyway, mama will not be happy. >(

    lol
  • IndiesR
    Amen to that!
  • ancha85
About a MILLION mamas won't be happy!!
  • amelie_noir
I've never seen any David Slade movies - I'm a bit of a anti-horror kinda kid. But I might have to check out his style...maybe I'll keep a handy cushion ready for the gruesome bits =S
  • rach101
I warn you 30 days of night is fairly gory (if your not into horror movies) but its not too bad lol.

Hopefully he will do a good job of Eclipse, but considering how the movies he's previously directed turned out i'm a little worried to be honest. I really hope he doesn't change the tone of the the movie that Catherine set up and that Chris appears to be following. He better not throw in a whole load of blood and gore because nobody is gonna want to see that. I really hope we see another side to his directing for this otherwise Eclipse may be in trouble :S
  • Twi-Tiana_7
wow i was thinking the exact same thing.
i mean i ve seen 30 days of night...cool movie but its awfully gory and i dont want it to be a blood bath!
im not worried bout him and the action just more so the love story involved....
i dont know if he could keep it the way its meant to beso i totally feel your concerns.
  • rach101
Yeah exactly, im not completely convinced as of yet whether he is capable of capturing that level of chemistry and romance on screen but i guess time will tell. And also we have some awesome actors on board so maybe it will still be okay. *crosses fingers*
  • Twi-Tiana_7
haha...agreed...yet they are called directors for a reason meaning they call the shots:/
he just better not mess it up...or there will be an angry mob of fans ready to attack!
    lol:)
