Same for me, the sound effect was the turn off but didn't mind so much the sparkle effect; it was like, 'huh? Edwards sparkles make tinkling noise?????'

But hopefully it won't be too, too different. I'm expecting CW's NM end product to be way better but I hope it has some, just some, similarities to Twilight so it doesn't seem like a totally different place, Forks and their homes, with completely different character looks.

to be honest i thought the sparkle effect in twilght was really good, i dont know why everyone is knocking it.
it was excatly how i imagined. eveyone has a different thought abou things when reading the books, like what some characters looked like.(i know that Aro in New Moon looks just like i imagined him to, well picked!) So i think that you can't knock it as they can't catter for everyones images of what someone sparkles like. If Stephanie approves it, it must look like what she imagined !

i think they sparkle should have the whole prism rainbow effect....like if you put a crystal in the sun......his skin should sparkle with diamonds and millions of multi coloured rainbows reflecting of his skin....

yep yep yep, this is exactly how I imagine it too. I don't even mind if they go a little over the top with that because the audience needs to understand why Edward's sparkling in the sun would get him in trouble with the Volturi... If the effect is as subtle as it is in the first movie, the whole suicide scene just doesn't make sense!

i agree it should be overdone exactly for that reason too...i can think of 2 other reasons y it should be over done (with out sound effects)... it make sence in the book these two other reasons maybe not so much with the movies.....but just to try and stay more with the books i guess....

reason 2: in the first book when edward is trying to locate bella in Port A. from those guys....he really really wants to go and find her but is really afraid of even light reflecting off his skin.....if it was subtle then he would have risked following her scent thru the shadows.

and reason 3: WHEN breaking dawn is a movie...and they on thier honeymoon...they wouldn't need a privite island in the middle of nowhere if it was subtle in my opinion. (Besides the fact they have the money to buy an island)

they should just save a little extra so eventually it can be EVEN MORE spectacular thru bellas NEW eyes as a vampire.....

I think that chris w. will do a great job on new moon dealing with the sparkle effect. Cathrine wasn't really working with a good budgit so she couldn't afford the kind of sparkles we wanted to see. Chris has a good budgit this time so let's just hope and see what he can do. But I belive he will do New moon justice. I can't wait.

I've re-read the book 3 times too and I don't remember sparkles in New Moon. If they are going to add sparkles for the sake of it I'd rather then spent the money on something else like add another 15 minutes the film.

Yeah...he doesn't sparkle in New Moon BUT....she does go back to the meadow. Leading up to it she says something like..."I remember my first time there..seeing Edward sparkle" or something like that. I'm sure it will be a memory...plus they need to explain it so people that have not seen the first movie and see the second will know what the heck is going on LOL.

I do remember sparkles, when Bella is running towards the tower, there is a family close by and it describes it here it is:

i kinda liked how they made him sparkle..it didn't really look like embedded diamonds, but what can you do when your not the director right.

I thought they did a wonderful job in the first movie. It actually exceeded my expectations, wonder how they can improve upon it. Can't wait to see myself.

I think with a bigger budget it'll be able to be better. You have to remember the first movie didn't have a blockbuster film budget like New Moon does.
Although, I could have done with out the sparkling sound effects as well... those were unnecessary.

In the movie we see him sparkle two times and the second time was great.
I loved how he looked when they were laying on the grass and sun shows. He really looked like a stone that glitters.

I think they'll certainly try to do something else...and hopefully improve it.

I picture it like when light hits a diamond. Depending on how you move parts of the diamond flash brighter than others. Like his skin would almost have different facets and depending on his movement parts would flash brighter than others.

I thought the effect was fine in Twilight. It wasn't too over the top. Yes, the sound effect could have been left out, but overall I thought it was well done. I personally think it is silly that they sparkle in the first place, so I like that it had a subtle quality to it in the film. I was afraid he was going to shoot streams of light, like the Beast in his transformation back to the Prince. And like someone said before, Twilight was a LOW BUDGET film for the genre it was. I appreciate the efforts of all the crew. I am not one for special effects, so I am glad they were kept to a minimum. And I LOVE the meadow scene when they are laying in the grass. The camera work and music are PERFECTION there.

I think the sparkling effect in Twilight was alright and since Chris has been winning my love and appreciation, I think he'll do a great job with this... although Edward doesn't sparkle in New Moon, we shall see what they use it for! Either way, I think we all have our own personalized versions of how Edward sparkles so it'll always be different for us =]

I have always pictured Edward in the sun to be like shards of light reflecting off his skin. Almost like a prism in the sun minus the rainbows. Also he technically does not sparkle in New Moon, but if they show one of Alice's visions whe she sees him in Italy walking out into the square. His sparkle would have to be enough to draw attention from the crowds. He sees this as the best way to irritate th Volturi so it has to be something more than we saw in Twilight.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this whole commenting thing, but I've been following it for a while and you all are hilarious and as absolutely obsessed with this series as I am! I just wanted to add that on page 4 of new moon, Edward does sparkle. It is in the dream that Bella has about "Gran", and I don't know if they would even include that in the movie or not, but that is the only instance I've read where Edward goes into the sunlight. That whole dream sequence would really be an amazing thing to see, so hopefully they include it!

I keep thinking though, you know how in Breaking Dawn Jacob shields his eyes, like Bella's skin sparkling is so bright? I didn't even notice the sparkles in Twilight until I really looked carefully and moved much,much closer to the screen. I think it can't be worse. And I'd hate to hear those annoying sounds. He is shining, not making believe he's Tinkerbell.

I'm sorry, but, the whole "male sparkling" thing grosses me out anyway, so if they totally bombed the special effects on that one I probably wouldn't even flinch.

Honestly, if I walked into a meadow and saw some guy radiating glitter like a damn child's craft project I would laugh. To me, the whole thing's ridiculous anyway so if they want to abandon that whole track and put the money in something else, I would be totally fine.

But alas, if they did take it away, I'm sure many people would be upset because it is a crucial element but I don't understand how they're supposed to make it better. What else can you do? Make digitally-rendered sparkles? The whole thing's laughable.

I think the drawings are great, I just don't like how gray they made Edward in the first one. And I was very disappointed in the sparkle effects of the first movie. But I have to say that when I picked up my Blu-Ray copy of Twilight that the effects were a bit more impressive than just the regular disc. I remember reading a story somewhere about how Catherine Hardwicke was working on making the sparkle effect better for the high definition disc and I think she did a real good job there. But I hope to see a better effect in the rest of the movies :)

One of my friends commented that Edward sparkling in Twilight looked like one of those sparkly glitter graphics you make online. I REALLY hope Chris Weitz does better than that. I liked the sparkley effect in Twilight because it was glittery without obscurring his features. That was how I pictured it: The sparkles accentuate his looks, not distract from them.

I think that the sparkles should throw rainbows out, like Stephenie said in her books. I also thought that Rob's skin
looked sallow and it didn't look good with the sparkling effects. I really hope they don't use that strange noise for the
sparkling either. Besides that I think it will be okay. =D

Ok I'm prepared to get beat up for this opinion but...

The idea of a boy who sparkles in itself is beyond cheesy, let alone trying to recreate it in real life. Best of luck to Chris Weitz.

Anytime any one of the vamps sparkle in the saga I'm like, "Ugh not again! Go indoors, please." It doesn't help that after the movie I always have the damn sound effect ringing in my ears as I read it, too!

I thought the sparkle in Twilight wasn't that great. It was sort of...painful to watch that part. I feel bad for saying that, but it's the truth. I expected more from the sparkle part. Catherine Hardwicke made it seems so great, but it wasn't. Edward was suppose to sparkle like millions of diamonds reflecting off the sunlight and I didnt' see that in Twilight. I hope it'll be better in New Moon.

The first fan-art of Edward's sparkly skin is exactly how I pictured it to look. It looks like thousands of tiny diamonds, and that's exactly how Bella described it in the meadow. Hopefully the people of New Moon will go more towards that look than the cheesy rainbowish sparkles and the twinkling sounds used in Twilight.

haha I love the first image....and the way I imgined edward sparkling in the sun was....idk how to describe it but Im sure it was not as they put in in twilight but oh well...Im sure chris is doing an excellent job and btw I love this page!!!!! keep it on!!!

I totally agree, the sound effect was corny. The people who made twilight obviously have never seen snow sparkle in the sunlight. They said it was so hard to make something that wasn't faceted sparkle. I was thinking come look a the snow sparkle in sun. It's hard, smooth, but still sparkles and is very beautiful. Thousands of sparkles, that's what I think Edward should look like.

i thought it was hokey as all get out in Twilight, and you could barely even tell it was there. Plus the sound effect sounded like the sound clip they play in basketball games when someone makes a free throw.

Its eerie how these posters make him look as if hes decaying... exactly how I saw him in a dream of mine... yuck :(

My thoughs would have been like looking at a prisam the sun light hits Edward and his skin shines like sun shining though clear water spliting colours of the spectrum i can see it clearly in my mind it is not outwardly dazzling but in the same way absorbingly beautiful. Because as Edward explaines in the meadow in the film everything about him attracts his prey so his sparkle should be the same it should be mesmerising other wise there would be no point to it on a preditor like a Vampire.

I think the picture made Edward looked dull and grey instead of sparkle and glowing....hmmmm

In the movie look's like Snow, when the sun hit the snow. Glow.

yes the sound effects were dodgy but u have to admit twilight is the most famous movie eva made in this life time!!! TEAM JACOB FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
