Why Emily Browning Didn’t Take Part in Twilight

in Twilight

200904301148.jpg At one point, Lemon Snicket’s and Uninvited star Emily Browning seemed a shoe-in for the role of Bella Swan in Twilight–author Stephenie Meyer even gave her a stamp of approval. What happened, then? Browning addresses these rumors in a new MTV interview–

“What actually happened is that I was asked to audition — not take the part, but to just audition — shortly after ‘The Uninvited’ had finished filming,” the actress said. “And I’m not the type of person who can just work back-to-back. So I was just exhausted, and I was like, ‘I’m sorry, but I just can’t sign on to a trilogy right now.’ “

Memories of that exhaustion, she explained, are what frees Emily from all the “what if?” questions some actors might have after missing a superstar-making role. “To be honest, if I had gone on to do the film straight after ‘The Uninvited,’ I would not have been a good Bella,” Browning reasoned. “I was exhausted, and I needed to come home and hang out with my family for a little bit. And I’m hoping people realize that now. I haven’t actually seen the film, but I’m sure Kristen [Stewart] did a billion times better job than I would’ve done.”

Emily Browning Addresses Her ‘Twilight’ Notoriety

i would of liked her so much better than kristen stewart. she did a HORRIBLE job portraying bella.
  • RainBeau
Really? I thought Kristen Stewart was fantastic. I think the script for Twilight was a bit hinky in that they took a lot of humour out of Bella's character from what was in the book but I think Kristen did great with what she was given!!
  • yep I think Kirsten is a really good actress but I don't think Twilight was her working master piece. I think Catherine did an awful job at directing and the I think the script was cr*p...you can't blame Kirsten for that.
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I believe we have a consensus! Actors = good. Script = wonky at best. Director = disappointing.
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
    Almost unanimous :)

Lets get down on our knees and pray they get handed better material this time :)
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Dear God, whoever yours is, please give us a good script, and fantastic director, and the will of all those involved to stay true to our beloved and emotionally devastating book. In you we trust the saga will be as deeply moving and wonderful as we know it can be. Amen - the vamps and wolves of NMM site.
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
    Praying as we speak :)

This is my fav book. I really want it done right :)
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Your fav, really? I struggled with this book - I've gone back and re-read it. It is so important in the saga but I think it is really the darkest one. It goes so deep into the core of who Bella and Edward are and it's troubling. But it really drives home that true love is a fight. It's not easy and sometimes you have to experience that intense loss to value it in its truest form.
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
I think this one is my best because of the struggle and trauma :) It's hard to read that bit....but there's a huge pay off at the end :) And middle section skippers lol (you know who you are) - you don't get the big pay off if you skip the middle :) It's a good moral think, that things are hard, but it can be worth it in the end :)

I also love the little pay off too, when Alice comes back :) I was jumping up and down like a nut LOL When i gave it to my husband he did the same :) He came running into the room shouting "Alice is back wooo" :)

*okay the first time i read it i skipped...just to be sure he was coming back...or the book was getting burned lol*
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Good girl, full disclosure. I know, the part with Alice had my heart racing. When Bella sees the car (just gave me goose bumps thinking about it). That's one thing I really missed in the Twilight movie was the relationship with Alice - it's so important in all the books.
  • am i the only one who didnt skip pages? lol

after i finish reading the saga, this is my first time, i wanna reread it cos i think i went thru it a bit too fast. ive forgotten stuff already and i just finished NM days ago.
  • CindysGotOCD
I struggled to.... I read it 1st... after seeing Twilight(sorry but I did read twilight when I was done with the sage than read ever book over again) and skipped pages at a time when Edward was gone... than I went and re-read in with all intentions on reading the whole book.... but again I skipped....

It is defiantly an intenese book an is very important but I dunno I just cant help but skip.. I will try again before the movie comes out to read it whole... I'm sure I'll be re-reading the saga again before that but that's a promise I made to myself..

Im on Eclipse again now reading like 3 or 4 chapters a day ..this is the second time Im reading the saga and boy how much did I forget from the 1st time and its only been about a month since I 1st read it.....

Midnight Sun I have read twice also and the second time I couldnt believe what I didn't remember reading.. so Im sure I'll be reading that again.....
  • OhEdward (The Original)
3rd time reading New Moon and I read through and didn't jump - it was really hard though. I'm on Eclipse again and it's my favorite, but I like all the books - each one for different reasons.
  • KarKar
Me too! I read it after watching Twilight because i didnt know what the hype was about (i only watched it because I love Rob Pattison in Harry Potter lol) and did skip it too. But i LOVE New moon its my fave too.. well kinda head to head with Eclipse :)
Good thing I read the books because i was so clueless watching Twilight (movie). I didnt know Edward could read minds, i thought the whole Cullens has telepathy or something. It was messy :(
  • Juana
I've got to know...Who wrote that book "Midnight Sun"? I did a search and there's too many books by that title by different authors. Can you provide me with the author? It sounds interesting...
  • CindysGotOCD
Juana.... Midnight Sun is Twilight from Edward Cullens perspective... Stephanie Meyer started to write it and it leaked on the internet so she stopped because she was mad... she wrote 12 chapters and has them posted on her offical page
  • marie_virtuoso
i loved it. just because i felt everything bella felt so strongly!i love it when books do that, not matter if its sad!i was heartbroken and then when she finally saw edward it was just amazing!
  • i totally get why is ur favorite!! its my favorite out of all the series and i REALLY want it done good!
i wanna cry my eyes out on that theater!!
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
:) yeay....i'm glad i'm not alone :) i always seem to be the only one :)

I just love the jumping for joy at the end....and if Edward doesn't leave...then we don't get to miss him like hell LOL
  • yeah!!!
theres nothing wrong with the whole "i miss u edward" feeling!
it makes the end that more joyful...im gonna be a mess on november xD
  • exactly spot on!!
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
    well put!
  • maison loves jasper
OMG she would be a terrible bella Kristen war wayyyyy better than her She is so ugly a bella is supposed to be not drop dead gorgoeos but pretty in a plain way
  • RainBeau
    Totally agree TeamSpaceHeaters!!!
  • PiaCullen
You make a very good point....The direction for Twilight was AWFUL!
  • iRunWithJasper
oh christ. no way. im not a kristen hater but ive seen almost all her movies and she's the same in all of them. thats not a good actress. i feel like she's retared cuz she stutters or she troubkle getting the words out. it pisses me off that they picked kristen. and yea catherine sucked 2.

i feel bad 4 steph meyer cuz im possitive she didnt like how her book came out with this (her main character bella) who cant friggin spit ouit what she has to say. takes her about 5 min to say 2 sentences.
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
I agree as well :) i think rob n kristen both did a great job with a poor screenplay :)

They would have been amazing with a good one :)
  • bookobsessed
I agree with that. You really can't diss on the actors to much with a crappy budget, weird old hippy director, and odd screenplay. Rob and Kristen have great chemistry and hopefully that we'll get more of thier talents in NM.
  • I agree with you RainBeau.
They took the whole humour out
of it and made bella seem scared
all of the time in the movie. She was much
more smug around edward i think. But
i guess from the way they told her to do
it she did a good job...they also made bella
    seem too geeky.
  • RainBeau
You're so right Ravinnnx. There were so many humerous bits in the book of Twilight, where Bella fainted when Edward kissed her the 2nd time and when she grabbed her throat in protection as a joke when Edward asked if it was breakfast time.

All these really funny one-liners that added so much depth to Bella's character and in the book, she seemed like a manic-depressive most of the time!!!
  • Yes!! that was gold:)
    But the movie seem to
    intense...Im sure there going to
do a great job with new moon since
everyone says chris knows what he's doing:)
I thought the part when Billy sent Jacob to the
car to go look for the picture and then he
came back all wet & mad because it wasent in
    the there. was funny to:)
  • i agree, theres only so much an actor can do with the script shes given, i mean, they took the silliness of bella out of the movie so thats maybe why plp didnt like it and i thought she did great in the part when charlie gave her the truck, she did amazing! it was so bella and the whole hitting jacob wasnt in the book but it felt like it could fit cause is sumthing bella would probably do...
she did good and im glad that the role was given to someone as down to earth as kirsten is!
  • RainBeau
You hit the nail on the head LOLEizz....There was a silliness to Bella that was absent in the Twilight DVD.
  • I thought Kristen fit the part perfectly and she did the best she could. It's also the screewnwriters and directors fault that she did "horrible"

I don't think I would stay this "obsessed" with the MOVIE if Emily [or Gaspard] got the part. I would probably just wait patiently for the movies and not really care as much.
  • Destined
    I agree.
  • lisamariecullen
    Me too
  • rachaelwsz
I think Kristen didn't 'get' Bella quite right... Especially with some of the displayal emotions for some scenes in the Twilight movie.
  • sarah
Yeah. Kristen fits the book's phyiscal description of Bella more than Emily Browning, but I wasn't happy with her acting. The movie Bella is far too nervous and agitated. The stammering and fidgeting in the movie annoyed me. I don't know if Kristen was told to do this or if it was her own idea, but it just didn't work for me.
  • Diem
I think it was Kristen. I've seen interviews and movies where she does the exact same fidgeting with her head, like a constant nod. It's annoying.
  • PiaCullen
    I agree!!!
  • yuka
    yes!
she sounded like a man at times
and bella in the book is insecure and all but in the movie she seems to be dominant and strong and pushy
  • IveMB
    much better...i agree
  • cutesweetiezzz
I think Emily Browning looks more like how I pictured Bella. She has the vulnerable look about her. We can't get what we all want, so I think we should just accept the truth.
  • bree
yea kristen is too tough to play bella!! bella is supposed to be delicate and vulnerable....emily would have been perfect!! guess its too late...
  • LaurenLautner
I TOTALLY agree Amanda! I think Emily would have SO much better. I didn't like Kristen one bit as Bella.
  • PiaCullen
I completely agree with you!!!! Kirsten Stewart did an awful job of protraying Bella! She was like a rock, so cold and miserable. However she is very pretty but Bella in the books is warm, sweet and shy. Emily Browning would have been great!
  • Krazii4Twilight
yh bella was rle wooden and seemed extremly uncomfortable nd made the person watch the film uncomfortable too
  • Kawaii_Hito
haha i agree i think she woulda been hella prettier too... *sigh* i woulda liked the movie better if she was in it (T_T)
  • Edward 4Ever
I´m sorry Kristen fans but she´s not a good actress , i watch about a movie per day and i know good actors , she did an awful job as Bella , however i think physically she´s the only actress who fits so that´s the problem....i think she acts exactly the same in every movie and i´ve seen most of her movies.....and she has a hard time to get in character because of her real life personality (which i hate)......
  • kstew_luvr
are you dead serious? have you seen any kristen stewart movies other than twilight! she is fantastic! one of the best young actresses i have seen! especially when she was younger!
  • erika
i agree 100% it doesn't seem as if she has much of a personality at all
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I hope we'll see more character in New Moon. I'm not that familiar with Kristen's other work, so if she plays the same part in each role I wouldn't know. It worked for Twilight though because Bella is really insecure in that book. She doesn't really start to become a very likeable character until Eclipse and of course by Breaking Dawn she has realized her full potential as a compassionate, caring, and strong character.
  • Juana
Actually, Eclipse is my favorite of all of them! The writing imagery was excellent. Plus, I like that Victoria got what she deserved! I've read (listened to audiobooks), and I'm on breaking Dawn, where Bella is a vamp...finally!
  • TwilightChick35
I totally agree. The hospital scene...uggghhhhh. STOP the eyefluttering geesh lol And if she makes that hmmph sound for than once in New Moon I'm gonna end up in a straight jacket lol

I think that they really dropped the ball casting Bella and Rosalie...but I have a hard time trying to decide who I would have picked tho.
  • PiaCullen
I agree with you completely! What you wrote about Kirstens acting be awful...is dead on!!!!
  • teamkstew
If you think Kristen Stewart is a bad actress you have not seen the movie "The Cake Eaters". She really knows her stuff. Just because she plays very intense rolls doesn't mean she can't act. That's her style. All her movies she plays characters with major inner turmoil and I think she is great and showing that in subtle actions, such as her "fidgiting problem". And as far as people thinking she's not pretty enough. The story is in Bella's point of view and if you remember correctly, she sees herself as very plain. Edward is really the only one that truely appritiates her beauty. Kristen is a great actress and was perfect for this roll considering the limitations givin to her by director and script. Like she said in an interview. She's a serious actor and she takes it seriously. If they wanted just a pretty face to read lines they should have givin the roll to someone from Disney. ROFL.
  • First lol! Well in a way im kinda glad she didn't accept the role of Bella cus Kristen is doing a great job. Go Kristen!!!!
  • You know the age old saying......YOU SNOOZE....YOU LOSE. Blah Blah on being exausted after filming Uninvited...you know damn well, that secretly she is kicking herself. I'm SO glad that Kristen is in the role instead, she really is a great Bella!
  • Lizzaaay
yea true i was goin to say that kristen has grown on me she is sorta how i pictured bella anyways so yea and good for emily she knows her limitations and is working within them she is not silly and seems very mature so good for her :o) even tho i would be kicking maself becoz she would have been able to kiss robert and taylor ahhh a girl can dream right? hehe lol ;op
    Lizzie
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
She is kicking herself :) About the kissing part :) trust me LMAO
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
kristen is bella for me, i bet she totally has kristens face on a dartboard over the kissing lol!
  • nicnixs *need to go again* :)
    Bet she does lol :)
  • CindysGotOCD
oh yes def.... anyone would be kicking themselves.... I do agree I love Kristen as Bella....Emily has a more pretty girly face...
  • Lizzaaay
haha i seriously reckon she is, i was thinking that thats y i typed it but i dont wanna judge hehe thats probs y she hasnt watched it she is probably thinkin i cant watch it becoz i have tha hots for robert and ill be thinkin the hole time that could have been me!! lol im not tthat desperate, i only wish it was me rofl jks hehe. OH AND BY THE WAY I BROUGHT THE 2 DISC SPECIAL EDITION TWILIGHT DVD TODAY YAY!!! well yesterday considering its now 2:20 am may 1st friday lol i brought it yesterday on thursday ;op
    Lizzie
  • bean... I neeeeeeed iiiittt!
Agreed. I really liked Emily Browning in Lemony Snicket and it would be interesting to see her portrayal of Bella, but I think Kristen is so perfect for the part. She IS Bella to me now.
  • Kassielovesthecullens
She looks too porcelian-doll looking to be Bella...Kristen Stewart is a better match.
  • Exactly! I couldnt think of a word to describe her but porcelain doll is perfect! She's almost too pretty to be Bella. Kristen is very pretty as well but shes a unique pretty.
  • laura
funny. cause bella is actually described as looking like a porcelain doll in new moon. thats why i always liked emily for the role. kristin always looked a bit too.... "smouldering" for bella imo.
  • KINALuvzWolves
Yea Jake called her a porcelain doll!
  • i thought kristen was a great bella and i am happy she is bella and not this girl i mean i know she was in the running to be bella and stephanie liked her but i just think kristen is better but thats my opion :D
  • Patty
No Way!!! Kristen is alot prettier than this Emily.... who is she anyways??

    Go Kristen!!! You are BELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • While Kristen is not my ideal Bella I am happy she got the part. I will not sit here and state that her performance was out of this world. But she is Bella now.

That being said, I do wonder how Emily would have portrayed Bella. If Rob had still been cast as Edward I can't really see Rob and Emily having the chemistry of Rob and Kristen.
  • gottobekidding
Oh, I agree. Kristen is actually starting to grow on me..... just a tiny bit.
I don't think there would be the same chemistry as Rob & Kristen. Kristen was even a big part that Rob was cast. Thank God for her in that respect!!
  • Kristen is growing on me as well. I certainly do not think she was the best choice. I have seen some of her other films that really showcase her acting ability (Speak is one). I can't lay all blame on her for Twilight since there were other factors as well.

Heaven love her for Rob being cast. I may still love Henry Cavill as my original Edward, but I can't imagine anyone else playing Edward other than Rob. He is even growing on me too. lol
  • Majnona (H.N)
Hmmm no. Kristen makes a way better Bella, I think..and she's a better and more experienced actress too. Plus Emily is too beautiful for Bella..she could've gone for one of the vampires though..but nope, I'm 99.99% convinced with the cast just as it is (the 0.01% is for Rosalie if you're wondering..) I can't really imagen anybody doing better job at their places..
  • AerosManders
I was talking about this with someone else yesterday (or the day before...cant remember). But I feel they totally flopped on the casting of Rosalie. She is not the "beautiful" person I wanted her to be. She is supposed to be stunning to look at...not badly dyed roots.
  • lisamariecullen
Yeah I pictured her a lot more stunning as the book always talks about her like she is so beautiful it would hurt to look at her!
  • Majnona (H.N)
Exactly...in fact I thought all the other girls (Bella, Alice, Victoria...) looked more beautiful than she did..
I dunno why couldn't they just pick a real blondie, hollywood is full of them!
  • AerosManders
Full of blonds...or at least one that can fake it better then her =P. I have been trying to rack my brain lately to figure out who could have pulled that role off...and all I can think are people who are too old for the part. They could have gone the other route and cast a totally new fresh face...eh...not like it will change anything now.
  • Majnona (H.N)
guess we just have to endure it lol
but she's having a wig this time so hopefully it will look better!
  • CindysGotOCD
Well since her and kristen are such good friends maybe she got the part because of her
  • Teresa
I think Nikki Reed got the part because Catherine Hardwick worked with her on a past project..."Thirteen" maybe?? I can't remember.

I think all the characters were cast pretty well except for Rosalie. They should have picked a natural blond and someone more beautiful. Nikki Reed is beautiful, but not as a blond. Also, I hate the way they dressed Rosalie. What's up with her jeans?

As for Kristen, well, she's grown on me. I think she lets a little too much of herself show through in characters she's portraying.

Rob makes the movie- He's a talented actor.
  • bluegoddessgirl
Nikki did indeed get the part through Catherine. For one, they both worked on two films prior to Twilight where Catherine was the director. Also Catherine had dated her father for quite some time a few years back and to this day they remain close. I'm pretty sure she was just given the part because of her connection. Why Rosalie? I think because the part was small and Catherine didn't even think Twilight would be that big of a deal so she gave the part to Nikki, who didn't fit the description at all. Its sad, but I'm sure thats how it went down. Before Twilight Catherine had only directed three movies, two of which heavily included Nikki.
  • moviejunkie
Yes, Nikki got her part through her connections. Too bad b/c she doesn't fit the bill. Rosalie in the book was blond statuesque stunning beauty. Nikki is cute but not stunning. Also, she is far from being statuesque. I wish she worked out for the role like Taylor did for his role as Jacob.
I have tons of respect for Taylor for working so hard.
Though I am not sure how they going to solve the height thing. Jacob is described in the books to be closer to 7 feet tall.
  • lisamariecullen
You not a fan of Rosalie then? I liked her...apart from that hideous hair!!
  • EstonianVampire
I hated the hair too lol. Ive noticed that many fans do. :)
  • lisamariecullen
Hopefully they will do a better job of it in New Moon. Surely a wig would've been better than dying her actual hair...badly!
  • twifan89
agreed. good thing they are going with a wig now! i have no idea who they could have casted for Rosalie tho. who can live up to the beauty that was characterized in the book. there might have been another actress out there but i just don't know who.
  • EstonianVampire
By the looks of the pictures seen of the New Moon set, seems like Rosalie's hair looks beautiful now. At least I hope so.. :D
  • OhEdward (The Original)
People lose and gain tons of weight for movies. Why on earth she couldn't color her hair for this role is beyond me. How committed is she to this character that she wasn't willing to color her hair? She is a really beautiful girl and a more "natural" blonde look would have looked so much more authentic.
  • Kassielovesthecullens
I agree this girl looks like she would have made a better Jane instead of Bella.
  • michno03
I think that Kristen is a better fit for Bella. She did fall flat in some of the scenes (I cringed during her portion of the Lion in love with the Lamb scene - I did think Rob nailed it), but mostly did a great job in my opinion. It could have definitely been the writing and direction as she was fabulous in The Messengers. Emily is not what I pictured. Kristen is going be amazing when they do her up as a vampire.

Someone mentioned Alice and I am really disappointed there wasn't more time devoted to both Bella and Edward development in addition to her connection to Alice. I would have LOVED to seen Alice dress her up for the prom, instead of that stupid scene (not the actors fault). I guess we'll see how that relationship progresses in NM.
  • Vampgirl(Team Robsten forever)
There is only one Isabella Marie Swan and her name is Kristen Stewart, why are people bringing up that old article about K-stew and the retarded issue? if you would had done your work "Eduardo", you would had realized that she was talking about the press. Kristen is a very sweet girl obiviously you have been living under a frickin rock these couple of months, because I have seen Kristen taken pictures with her fans, so SHE IS GRATEFUL. Manly, didn't your mother teach you manners? Look buddy no one is telling you to like Kristen, because she isn't made out of gold and I'm sure she does not care what you think of her. But bashing her and calling her manly is uncalled for,

There is also a saying you don't nothing nice to say don't Say nothing at all.

And for the rest of you K-Stew haters, if it wasn't for HER. Robert Pattinson would had not been Edward Cullen.
  • kstew_luvr
exactly! we wouldnt have beautiful rpattz without kristen...we would have some up himself loser most likely.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Woa she's gorgeous and I think she would of made a good Bella look-wise, but I'm pretty content with Kristen and think she did a good job portraying Bella, she'll do even better in NM... I have a feeling!!!
  • kate4
I really like Kristen's Bella. It's what I pictured her to look like. In Midnight Sun Edwards describes he look as being better that beautiful, he thinks she looks interesting. I think tha sums up Kristens look. So I like her as Bella. Emily is beautiful, but I think her face is too round for me.
  • alexaacullen
OMG SHE DOESNT EVEN LOOK LIKE BELLA!!!!!!!!!!!! (or how i thought she would took like) GO KRISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!
  • EstonianVampire
Kristen is 100% how I pictured Bella. She's an amazing actress. I don't think ANYONE would of done a better job. KStew rocks! :]
  • TeamEdward(THE_BIG_DAY!<3)
never pictured her as bella! Never! And i did have my doubts about Kristen too but absolutly not emily brown.Emily Brown is one of my family members name
  • Kristen Stewart did an amazing job as Bella. I'm glad Emily didn't take the part, I prefer Kristen.
  • I imagined Bella to look more like Kristen, not Emily.
  • Jessica
I LOVE KRISTEN STEWART AS BELLA!!! SHE ROCKS!!!!
  • kstew_luvr
as you can probably tell from my username that i love kristen!...kristen was and always is bella to me. she is exactly how i imagined bella to be. love you kristen!
  • Vampgirl(Team Robsten forever)
I'm 100 percent Team Kristen. Not that Emily shouldn't be in the next insallements, Heck Breaking Dawn has so many characters she can be any. Even Charlotte.
  • Lulu
I prefer Kristen Stewart in the role. She is exactly as I pictured Bella, when I read Twilight for the first time.
  • court
Im sorry I don't think I ever got the whole Emily Browning thing. For some reason she looks creepy to me.
Kristen did a great job as Bella. And she's closer to the book says Bella looks like.
  • laura
she looks closer to what the book says Bella looks like??

uhh im not sure how you can say that when Smeyer wrote Bella with Emily in mind. go on her website, she gives a description of what Bella looks like, it totally describes emily.
  • court
Uhh yeah I have read the description before...and I just did again and it still doesn't sound like Emily to me. The book talks about how Bella has a heart shaped face...Emily has a really round face. Theres other differences too..but really i just meant Kristen looks more like the Bella I pictured...she has a "plain" beautiful face.
  • Edward 4Ever
The thing is guys , Nikki Reed was casted as Rosalie because the director of twilight had worked with her on the movie Thirteen ,and i´m 100% sure that´s why she was casted! All about clicks!!! Of course there are hundreds of more beautiful blondes in hollywood ....nikki isn´t good looking at all not even being blonde!!!
  • court
I totally agree. I think Nikki is beautiful...and she did good as Rosalie. But they could of picked someone more right for the role. I'm not trying to be mean...but when I see Nikki I don't think shes the most beautiful girl in the world like it said in the book. And she DOES look better with her natural hair color. haha
  • 30yearoldtwifan "Team Slade"
I do agree with you. I can say, she isn't the prettiest girl in the world. "average" is more like it. I always wondered why they casted her, Now I know. She new someone.
  • When I read the books (this was waaay before the movie was coming out), I always pictured Emily Browning to be Bella, and Gaspard Ulliel as Edward. When I found out it was Kristen Stewart I was like "ehhh?? WTF??" I still feel that way now and I still always imagine Emily Browing as Bella when I read the book. But I'm not complaining about them casting Rob.. coz I wouldn't wanna share my Gaspard with anybody :P especially all of the girls in the world.
  • June
I definitely agree with u. Emily is who I imagine when I read. I love Kristen, but her face is a little too defined and angular to me...
  • PiaCullen
I agree with you! I started reading Twilight back in 2005...and I always pictured an Emily Browning type of girl. Then after the movie came out, I gave it a shot...reading it again...and I still couldn't picture Kirtsen Stewart as Bella. Edward...ummm well I like Robert Pattinson as Edward in the movies, but I don't think I have seen an actor who looks like the Edward that appears in my head when I read the books! LOL!
  • O well, she didn't get to be the spider monkey..lol
  • Majnona (H.N)
    missed all the fun haha
  • twi mom
Good thing Emily Browning doesn't have a "real" job where you have to go to work 5 or six days a week, week in and week out. Exhausted? Good grief! Try being a Mom with a full time job!
  • Kaelin
I know Emily Browning isn't a mom with a full time job and i'm not either, I can't even imagine how hard that must be. However, who are you to judge how exhausted she may have been? Also, is there even a definition for a "real" job? Just because actor's don't go an office or whatever for 8 hours a day 5 days a week doesn't make acting any less of a real job. They sometimes work longer than 8 hours a day and are often away from family and friends for long periods of time. Filming a movie can be just as mentally and physically draining as any other job. Nobody except her knows how she was feeling after filming The Univited and she had every right to not want to audition for Twilight. An actor isn't required to go to every audition that may come their way.
  • hayles85
I know exactly what you mean!!
  • Jaypat
I was thinking the same thing. LOL!
  • hayles85
I'm glad she didn't audition, Kristen makes the perfect bella!
  • twilightus
Well all I can say is thank goodness she was exhausted, cause I don't think she could have possibly done the role justice!!!!!
  • Marti (Just Team Kristen. <3)
Kristen is a perfect Bella and totally awesome, so I'm glad, she didn't take part in "Twilight".
  • AerosManders
I know Kristen Stewart has done a good job as Bella...however I still think Emily Browning would have been really good as well. Its just one of those thing where the movie has been made...so you feel the character is perfect now...because you havent seen it any other way. Maybe she couldve been better? Or maybe worse? We will never know. However...I am still an Emily Browning fan. I enjoyed Lemon Snicket.
  • daniel_cullen
    I second that!
  • twilightus
I like Emily Browning as well, I just don't think she would have been a good Bella. And I'm glad that Emily knows her limits. Smart actress!
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I agree - she seems humble about the whole thing.
  • jasperrocks
Yeah-she IS humble. She's a good actress...but she needs to color her hair since she's playing BELLA! SERIOUSLY!
  • rachaelwsz
I love the Series of Unfortunate Events. 3rd on my favourite book series list. Twilight is of course right at the top of that list.
  • HotShotVamp
I think she wouldn't be fit for the role.
I still wanted Kristen to be Bella. :D
  • king:)
She is pretty but I would prefer Kristen to be Bella
She looks like she is too proud of something XD
well..anyway it's still Kristen to be Bella
    doesn't change anything. LOL
  • rachaelwsz
Don't judge a book by its cover. :)
  • lisamariecullen
    First!
  • lisamariecullen
Emily is more the kind of look I was imagining but Kristen has done a fab job and she IS Bella! :)
  • a dam it
  • at least i was 2nd
  • rachaelwsz
    Finally some news! :D
  • RainBeau
Hmmmm...she said she was asked to sign up for a Trilogy. I wonder if that is the answer to whether they will make Breaking Dawn or not then?
  • twilightus
No, because at the time she was asked to sign up, Summit had not purchased the rights to Breaking Dawn. The book was not even finished at that time! Summit has just in the past few weeks purchased the rights to Breaking Dawn. Breaking Dawn was only released in print in August 2008 after Twilight was filmed.
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I didn't realize that! Thanks for the clarification. It's hard to remember when it all seems to run together. I didn't read the books until AFTER they were all published.
  • RainBeau
Ahhhhh! It all makes sense now!! Thanks Twilightus for the information. Like OhEdward, I didn't read the books until they were all published.
  • I dk but I pictured Bella more like the look with Kristen, but then i dk how Emily Browning would've looked in Bellas custom
  • suitejuju
I like Kristen as Bella better. However I could totally see Miss Browning playing something in the series.
  • pinkpokadott
I like Kristen as Bella. I think Emily would have been good for a vampire but Kristen just has the human thing with the potential of being a good vampire. Idk i just could totally picture Bella with Kristen's face because she's pretty but they can totally downplay it while she is human and then exaggerate when she becomes a vampire. Idk i just think what is done is done. The entire cast worked with what they had (script that sucked) and thats it. I think they all did the best they could and even though I don't really like Nikki as Rosalie it will still be wonderful. We can't do anything to change the cast now so lets just enjoy the excitement of waiting for New Moon!
  • Erica22
wwwwooooowwww!!!!!! I bet she wants to kick herself... for passing up an oppertunity of a lifetime... poor girl, that has to suck... oh well, i like how it is now anyways....
  • bookobsessed
Is it just me or does she look like a little china doll? How tall is she? I guess I can picture her as Bella but I can't picture her with Rob. She doesn't look old enough. Maybe we've found our Bree for Eclipse.
  • darkelvenprincess
I like Browning but she is too pretty to be a Bella maybe in vampiric form but not as human. I love her acting and maybe she could have been a pretty Emily she could really pull through beauty with a scar just give her a tan.
  • bookobsessed
She would have to do a lot of tanning. That girl is translucent.
  • laura
"Your like a little doll. A porcelain doll." - Jacob describing Bella in New Moon p179.

and thats why i always liked the idea of emily playing bella. way before kristin came along.
  • bookobsessed
Please tell me you looked that up and your not quoting exact page numbers
    from your head.
  • novvemberr
    Hahaha :S
  • laura
haha. looked it up hun. i might love new moon, but not THAT much. it helps that its within reaching distance of my laptop. ;)
  • bookobsessed
I thought we might have to plan an intervention for a moment there. LOL;)
  • erika
i think Kristen LOOKS like how I pictured Bella but she defintely doesn't seem to have the personality of the Bella in the book. I don't know if it was the direction or the screenplay, but i guess only time will tell
  • teamkstew
With this particular book to movie adaptation I think getting the personality dead on is pretty much impossible. You read the books from Bella's point of view and its extremely hard to do that in a movie without corny voiceovers as her thoughts. Everyone needs to keep in mind that acting out a thought is probably the toughest thing for an actor and I think Kristen does an awesome job at showing how Bella controlled her self while being "dazzled" by Edward. The stuttering, stammering, fidgiting...they are all ways Kristen believed Bella physically reacted to the flood of information goin through her head one minute to the complete blankness that spread through her cause all she could think of was his beauty. One thing I really like about her is she's reading the books AS she's making the movies. She's not getting ahead of the story and acting out the character Bella developes into, but she is portraying the character Bella IS at the part of the story line. Keep in mind that even in Eclipse, Bella believes that she is too plain to be someone as elegant as Edward so she is insecure about that aspect of thier relationship even though she knows he loves her.
  • jenb
I'm glad to finally know who she is! I had read that's who SM thought of but didn't know her. I can't really see her as Bella, maybe it's because I'm used to & happy with Kristen. She is really pretty & I could see her maybe playing a vampire in one of the upcoming movies.
  • TEAM EDWARD
    :(
I wish she would've taken the job! She would have been a GREAT Bella in my opinion! :)
  • Rob_is_my_Kryptonite
I think Emily is a good actress...BUT I don't see her as Bella. It would have been interesting to see how her and Rob would have been together. I bet she regrets not getting to work with Rob!
  • teamkstew
Kristen pretty much got Robert the part because they way they interacted in the screening. So yea, Emily would most definately not be with Rob so their goes that idea. Sorry to burst your bubble.
  • Mrs. Robsessed
Emily is gorgeous but she could have been made to look plain just like Kristen was. Kristen is actually quite gorgeous but you would never know watching Twilight. And I don't think Bella really is plain. She just sees herself that way. The way you see yourself is what you project to the world. The girl has serious self estem issues-haha!! I seriously wished they would have put a little lip gloss (her lips were always chapped) on her and a bit of blush in Twilight. I did get a little tired of the no makeup look the whole time. She has makeup on for the prom scene and she's not over done at all. They could have leaned a little more that way for at least some of the movie. I guess we better brace ourselves for no makeup in New Moon since she's clinically depressed. If she doesn't even care enough to glam up for Edward then she definitely won't care when he's gone.
  • IndiesR
Take another look at the books, or if you read the draft of Midnight Sun, you'll see that Bella does not wear ANY makeup, unless Alice puts some on her, or jewelry (except for the bracelet she recieves later)
  • Mrs. Robsessed
I know she doesn't wear make up in the books either but I do think she's naturally pretty. I really don't feel like she's all that plain as she thinks she is.......she just projects what she feels like. Anyhow, my point was there is a way to wear make up w/o looking like you are wearing make up. Look at the Bella New Moon poster that is now posted. Beautiful, yet she really doesn't look like she is wearing much of anything. Everything is very muted/nuetral. ♥ it!! My only point....she could have at least put some chap stick on . The whole movie she has chapped lips-who wants to kiss those-haha!! I think she looks gorgeous in that bedroom/kissing scene where she really has the look of nothing on either (they always have to use makeup on a movie set). It was probably the lighting!! Cuz Rob looks gorgeous there too. You just want to lick him fr/ head to toe!!
  • IndiesR
Yeah, I do agree about the lips, they were bad. They should have used something especially since they did close ups on her lips. Maybe they just couldnt spare the cost for chapstick- low budget. LOL
  • KINALuvzWolves
I know what you're trying to say. There is definitely a way to wear makeup without looking like you're actually wearing it. I wish the makeup artists had thought to use such a technique so Bella didn't look like a walking corpse. She didn't even have "natural beauty" she looked so blah.
  • Mrs. Robsessed
oh good...someone understands whta I was trying to convey. That new moon poster of bella is the perfect example of how to wear makeup w/ o looking like you are wearing any. They need to bring Bobbi Brown onto the New Moon set....she does a great job at that!
  • RedRei
She's beautiful and a great actress. I'm sure she's be a fantastic Bella and while I'm not a fan of Kristen's portrayal of Bella in Twilight,I have a feeling she'll do much better job in the upcoming movies(they all will),specially when we have good directors now(sorry but CH sucks big time)
  • me
I agree. I didn't like Kristen as Bella so much. In my opinion Kristen doesn't know how to portray a who slew of emotions very well. Her facial expressions don't vary very much. She either looks dazed, confused, or scared all the time. I have seen Kristen act in other movies, and her expressions never change. I hope she steps up her game.
  • pamloves
i don't know who the hack this actress so i don't care that they casted kristen she is actually a great actress. an actress is only good with a great script. the script was horrible and plus the director was horrible. the way the actress acts is how the director wants her or him to act. and nikki didn't want to die her hair 36 times and then every day this time. the wig would have been better for the last film as well. the wig looks so much better from the pics on set. i hope you all know ashley was wearing wig and is for new moon because she didn't want to cut her long hair.
  • Maxine
I don't see her as Bella. But I read twilight after the official cast was announced so i imagined them exactly like they are in the movie.
  • MoreThanMyOwnLife
I always thought she would make a great Bella..but she would also make THE PERFECT older Renesme!! She looks like she could be Edward's beautiful daughter.
  • Love the Vamps
lol ya she could be! never thought of it that way...but she wouldn't really have a part in any of the movies unless stephenie meyer makes whatever you call the fifth sequel.
  • i love rob
Oh..she is soooo kicking herself in the a**!!!! I would be! And not because it would have made me a big star.......i'd be pissed cause I missed out on making out with Rob!!!!
  • me
I wish Emily would have taken the part. She is exactly how I pictured Bella. It's just my opinion.
  • Daneh
everyone - think about it. if emily browning was cast then rob would have probably not gotten the part as Edward. the only reason he did it was because he liked Kristen and Catherine and his agent persuaded him to do the audition,he only did it because he admired Kristen in Into The Wild. so I am so glad Kristen has the job, because if it wasn't for her, then we would never have gotten introduced to our gorgeous and lovely Robert Pattinson :)
  • me
I would have been fine with that. I didn't like Rob's portrayal of Edward, so I'd be pretty happy.
  • Daneh
you have to remember that it wasn't entirely Rob's portrayal. Catherine Hardwicke and SMeyer had a huge part in it too. Catherine DIRECTED him, and SMeyer had a talk with him about his character.
  • me
He did also state that he argued with SMeyer over what Edward was supposed to be like. So in part, is was also him. I didn't really like his acting either, so yeah...it's just my opinion though.
  • jules60
Who cares if you don't like his acting! That is your opinion, but a lot of people do like his acting including big time directors such as Ron Howard. I saw some of his other work and he has a wide range. He is going places, you don't have to like him.
  • Daneh
personally i think he was the most talented out of all the actors, so yeah...it's just my opinion though too.
  • teamkstew
no way...if you want to talk about the actual talent of the cast...Peter playing Carlisle is the best. He is a very talented actor and also a great person. I also like who they got for Billy. And just a side note....Steph pretty much was on set the whole time and she majorly approved of how her book was portrayed and this is HER world that SHE created for all us to enjoy. I think that says alot so I thought I'd throw that out there.
  • Daneh
peter is talented too but i still think Rob is going to go VERY far with his talent.
  • Seriously guys, was this article written by 5 year olds?

"At one point, Lemon Snicket’s and Uninvited star Emily Browning..."

The Movie title is 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' - Lemony (note the Y) Snicket is the author. And what's with the apostrophe? Does Emily Browning belong to 'Lemon Snicket'?

Sorry to be nitpicky. Things like this just really annoy me.
  • But she did play in The Uninvited .:)
  • Yeah, I know. I just got a bit annoyed at the grammar. I'm sad LOL.
  • novvemberr
No, you're cute. i liked your rant :D
  • :D I was in a bit of a fowl mood when I wrote this last night - the internet was annoying me :) I vented my frustration at bad grammar :D
  • Ari
Oh, no, no,no. I don't like either of them. I don't think that old guy or this old girl would have being as great as Rob and Kris, seriously, they are just perfect for the roles.
  • Fruit
Kristen is amazing and I loved her as Bella, but I had been one of the people was really wishing for her to be Bella. I didn't know how exhausted she was! The poor girl. Now I can feel bad for her instead of wishing she'd accepted the offer :3 Emily is just so sweet.
  • Edward 4Ever
Hey "OhEdward" i agree that Bella is a bit shy and insecure but it doesn´t mean bitter and moody!!!And that´s exactly what Kristen´s like in the movie....when Bella kisses Edward she´s supposed to be happy..in the kissing scene Kristen hardly smiles , is that being in love???Is that how anybody ,no matter how shy u are , would feel when u kissed someone u loved so much???If that´s so i really didn´t get the books!!!....and if in twilight where Edward´s with bella the whole time, she wasn´t happy imagine in New Moon!!?? I´m sure in the depressed scenes she will do a terrific job!
  • IndiesR
Wow! Just let it all out!! I do agree with you though. :)
  • nikki1901
OMG i sooo wish she would have played the part of bella! Kristen Stewart looks nothing like i pictured, and no offense but she talks like a man.Kristen also really stinks at trying to act like bella, but i guess we can't change the past now URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  • Ellie
I think actors are never going to be 100% perfect for a character on a book, but they try to be as close as they can. I think Kirsten and Rob did a great job and all fell in love with their chemistry, which made the movie a lot more special. It's truth Bella should be more insecure, vulnerable, and shy, but I still like Kirsten's version. Although everybody here is in love with Rob's Edward, and I include myself, still he didn't played his role exactly as is in the book; in the book Edward is a lot more sweet and usually more controlled when he speaks, specially in the meadow scene where he's pretty scary in the movie.
So I don't know what would have been if different actors have been cast, probably we would end up falling in love with them anyway because what we truly love is the story itself.
But one thing is for sure, R-Pattz lovers... if Kirsten hadn't been cast, he would have been cast either. So be happy the way things are...
  • IndiesR
Well, look at it this way, if it wasnt Kristen and Rob, it would definately be someone else and fans would still obsess about them, regardless of who they were...just saying. :)
  • Edward 4Ever
LOL sorry i think i got a bit moody myself....but anyway that´s my opinion....."she talks like a man" LOL that was funny i never thought of that! But it´s true! I´m not a fan of Kristen as u can tell , i think she should be a little bit more grateful....did u hear that in one interview she called the twilight fans retarded!? She really did and then apologized cuz the studio made her obviously...anyway...
  • me
lol, she does talk like a man. Not only that, but she does weird manly gestures. Just the way she presents herself. And she does talk negatively about the fans. Rob doesn't really seem to grateful either from what I've seen in interviews. I hope they both become at least a tad grateful.
  • kate4
I'm sure they are greatful for the "big break" but with all the obsessed fans yelling at them and freaking out on them how can you blame them for being a little honest. They are human. They will probably be better at the fame thing with time but Twilight hasn't even been out a year so cut them some slack for being hasty. I'm not trying to be rude so don't get offended :) A Lot of people get hot with some people's comments.
  • jules60
Rob has been very humble in interviews. You can say what you want about him, but he is grateful, and he is humble. You just don’t like him.
  • Edward 4Ever
She´s very ingrateful ...but Rob is my love i can´t criticize him and i think his hilarious , he has sense of humor unlike her.....i think he´s having a hard time with the new found fame, and people like me who are robsessed!!!
  • TWILIGHTLUVR
    OMC!!!!! REALLY!!!!
1.)SHE IS WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PRETTIER THAN STINKY KRISTEN STEWART!
2.)AND SHE IS ALSO A WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER ACTRESS!!!!!!!
I UNDERSTAND THAT SHE DIDNT WANT TO BE WORKIN ALL THE TIME. BUT I STILL THINK SHE PRETTIER AND BETTER ACTRESS THAN KRISTEN STEWART!!!
  • Immorta1
Emily is gorgeous, she would've been good for the part. I watched "The Uninvited" last week, and it would've sucked if she weren't in it. It was boring. I still love Kristen Stewart though.
  • Love the Vamps
idk...kristen stewart was awesome but emily would've been good too. I can't see anyone else as bella other than kristen though.
  • KINALuvzWolves
IMO Emily Browning is beautiful, and not in a hot way. Just in a pretty girl way. Perfect for Bella. She could have spared us a load of stuttering and eye blinking. But I digress...
  • teamkstew
Well in the books Bella shakes her head alot to clear her mind after being dazzled by Edward. I think if she would have done that in the movie...it would have been equally annoying. The stuttering is suppose to be involuntary for Bella in the movie version to portay the act of being distracted by his looks and I personally think over excessive blinking is a much more normal reaction to clear my head than constantly shaking my head like I have some form of turrets. You gotta remember its hard for Bella to stay focused around Edward for many reasons and in the movie we don't have the ability to know what's goin through her head like we do in the books.
  • KINALuvzWolves
I understand that Edward "dazzles" her and makes her nervous, so if the blinking and stuttering only happened when he was around, I would totally agree with you. Unfortunately she does it in other scenes--with Carlisle and James--those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
  • ItsTheFluorescence
I still have a hard time picturing Bella. The book described her as having a heart shaped face and Kristen does have that and the "strange pretty" going on, but I imagined Bella's voice at a higher pitch because she's kind of acting like a brat throughout the series...*sigh*...I don't know..Rob/Kris. did note in an interview that New Moon is better because they have a "final" script to work with and are not having to change at the last minute or improvise..So maybe this will help plus the fact that they're more comfortable with each other and have read the books now :)
  • bianx
emily browning had always been my bella. so idk. i could just imagine her walking around with that blush on her cheeks. she's a porcelain-looking and that's why i like her. kristen seemed... bored all the time? im not saying that i dont like her, it's just...i feel like she didnt bring bella to life. thats all.
  • Matt
I picture Kristen as the part and I dunno if the whole look thing would have fit the charchter but she seems like a nice sweet down to earth chick so it is sad she could not be a part maybe she could Kate and go with Garreth aka Henry Cavill................. or he can be Eleazar and she can be the girl he is with.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • elcie
i would of loved an aussie bella :(
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
physically, I like Kristen Stewart better for Bella. KStew, to me, made Bella seem like not composed, and Bella in the book was a very thoughtful character. KStew made Bella stutter too much.
  • Camzky090791
I like Emily Browning and I think she did a great job on her movie "the uninvited", but for me Kstew fits the role of Bella pretty well. I mean she's not the best actress out there but I don't know anyone else who could do better.
  • kerbear585
at least she was being honest as to why she didn't take the role.
i think that kristen did an amazing job! i love her as an actress. she is great!
  • I think Emily would have made a very good Bella. But I think Alexis Bledel would have made an even better Bella. I know she is a lot older, but if she could pull of playing such a young character she should totally be entitled to do it. As for Kristen, I'm starting to lose more and more confidence in her. I know that she smokes, and some people say it is her right to, however I wish she would truly understand the magnitude of the kids who watch the movie and look to her a role model. I understand that it's her personal life, but when someone becomes that famous it's important to realize that every action has a effect to it, whether it'd be good or bad.
  • dianna
FYI Pattinson is a smoker and a drinker!
  • aussie_twi_lover
smoking doesn't make her a bad role model
the whole cast smokes and im sure half of these young kids parents smoke
with the knowledge children get today on the effects
it's up to them to make there own decision
im 16 and i don't look at her and think oh now i need a smoke
oh yea and rob is a smoker but no one on this site mentions it
haha but i still love him anyways even smokes =)
  • dianna
this website is getting totally rediculous. Where is Kristen Stewart ? It seems that for some reason she is constantly getting sidlined here. Is she banned from this site from any reason? Why she doesnt get the same exposure than pattinson or at least the other castmembers? ...and now an actor on her movie site, who didnt even consider the role! How rude is from you people! Why dont u interview all the 75000 peeps who said earlier that Pattinson is ugly, and would be an awful edward?
  • rachaelwsz
newmoonmovie.org is not ridiculous! Do you see any hateKristen posts are put up here? No... Kristen is not 'banned' from this website! It's just that there's no new news about Kristen. This site is not to be blamed for that! NMM.org is awesome!
  • aussie_twi_lover
yay i agree i love kristen and what she brought to the role
the whole sarcastic side of bella and the fact bella could hide her emotions
at least on her face, i think she did a great job and completely looks the part
so we all need to stop being so hard on her
  • It's really not NMM's fault if Kristen doesn't have as much exposure as the rest do- this site relies on tips and personal accounts; maybe Kristen isn't one to get caught up in all the fan extravanganza. As far as I can see, we just had something about Gaspard Ulliel as Edward, and you're saying it's rude for people to think this about Emily Browning? That's hypocrisy at it's best, 'you person'!
  • cece1732
Emily would of been perfect as bella.
Kristen can't act worth d***! and the only reason she got the part was cuz' her Father has "connections".
  • teamkstew
You could say the same for Robert. He only got the part because Kristen Stewart. He wasn't even goin to audition because he didn't think he was good looking enough to portray a "perfect" man. So back off. Kristen is a very talented young actress, and even more so considering she has never taken acting classes like just about every other actor in Hollywood. Go watch The Cake Eaters and then say Stewart can't act.
  • BethieBoo
I loved twilight, loved all the actors - can't blame them for what the script writer did wrong, but one of the few things that got me were how like when someone said "see you, Bella!" or "Bye!" (like when Alice says it to her in the Cullen house, or Jess & Angela when they're leaving the restaurant) ... Kristen always just said "Ok." ... I just thought maybe she should have said bye, give a little enthusiasm that the script lacked.
I hate moaning about it - cause they did amazingly well with a low budget! And I have full confidence that the next three will be awesomeee! :)
  • XtinaCullen
    I prefer Emily...
  • Astrid
ohmygod YOU GUYS!! emily is wayy too sweet looking to be bella, i think kristen is what i think bella would look like in real life. dunno if it's because that's how they directed it or what, but kristen just somehow looks like bella. i kno everyone has their own thoughts, but i think robert is not cute:S in the show? yea, maybe. but outside of the show? no...i dont get why people get so freaked out by how "hot" he looks, hes average, i mean seriously, even my bff's boyfriend is hotter than him and hes a taylor lautner-look alike
  • teamkstew
plus...Robert has a severe lack of personal hygeine and he openly admits to it. as a guy I am under the impression that smelling bad and looking nasty and dirty is a turnoff so how in the world can people think he's hot? im sure all these rob crazy girls were to actually meet him in person your opinions would greatly change.
  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: Why fret on the past? They are both great actresses in their own way, and we can't blame them for a shitaeous screenplay and director.
  • i do see bella potential shes kinda what id emagined what bella would look like and shes is a great actress i saw her in lemon snikets and ghost ship the thing is kristen doesnt suit a role like bella hopefully she does better in new moon she kinda was a little dull in twilight
  • Selena.
I think She's too pretty to be Bella...

    WAY to pretty.

Not saying that Kristen's ugly, cause she's not, but I just see Kristen as it more... I don't know.
  • teamkstew
Just think how this film could have turned out if they would have gone out and found a full cast of unknowns? That would be ineresting considering the possibilty of a full cast of people they would have to change physically to fit the roles such as hair colors and skin tones, lol. Just a thought.

Rob didn´t get the part because of Kristen, he was the last one how could he know she was already in???She only said she liked him...she´s not the casting director! And she did a good job in cake eaters but that was it the other ones sucked especially twilight....even i could´ve done a better job than her!

Honestly, I think Kristen did a good job as bella, and her image (face) fits perfectly to the image of bella, that was some what of what i had imaged bella to be like.
As for the actress, Emily Browning, who rejected the role, I am glad, as her face doesn't fits the image of bella I had in mind.

I think Kristen is very versatile in her looks .... she can be pretty and then very normal girl next door looks ..

kristen did a very good job no doubt about it but i would of loved emily to do it!

kristen i think did an ok job. she is too emotionless and stutters over her words and shakes her head after every sentence. but she also portrays bella perfectly, though still, no emotion! i think i'd have loved emily to do it. she's a great actress. but so is kristen, i just think emily is better

emilys not ugly...shes pretty(no homo) she would haave been an awesome bella, not tryna say that kstew isnt good...but emily would have beeeen better

I would have loved if Emily potrayed Bella! She fits the role perfectly.I really do like Kristen though. She is very plain, and stubborn. I wish we could've had two films, one with Em, and one with Kris, that would have been great! Haha!
