Will Edward Say “Will You Marry Me” in New Moon?

in Commentary

200904100933.jpg The words “I love you” were not spoken in Twilight–so will the words “Will you marry me?” be spoken in New Moon? That’s the question that Amanda Bell over at the Twilight Examiner has posed

Yes, the famous “Lion and Lamb” scene did make its way into Twilight the film, but, in Twilight the novel by Stephenie Meyer, the scenes of the first unambiguous “I love you” exchanges (first from Bella, then from Edward) were very important still.

In New Moon, Edward’s proposal to Bella takes place shortly after Bella explains to Edward that, of all the things she could want in the world, she would want him to be the one to bring her to “the change.” The conversation, though beginning as a fairly casual one, becomes serious in the span of a moment.

Since the engagement is really made official in Eclipse, will Chris Weitz just allow the next director to handle the big talk about marriage?

Also: Check out Amanda’s new article on whether Kristen Stewart should sing in the Runaways!

When asked what his favourite scene was in New Moon, Jackson joked it was the proposal scene.... so does that mean they've put it in there?

Here's the link where he says it

He doesn't propose in the leaked script, but things may have changed since then.
  • Josie
The Words, "I Love you," we said almost constantly in the book Twlight, but never in the movie. Still, even though they never said it, you could feel it all around the movie. So technically, in a way, they did say i love you to eachother in the movie. I KNOW they will have Edward propose in New Moon, and if i am wrong, it will definitley be in Ecplise.
  • NOOO!

it must happen in New Moon, if it doesn't I will leave the theater in tears. lol
The proposal is my favorite part of the book, but I hope that they do add it to New Moon and not to Eclipse
  • THEY MUST!!!!!!!!!! OR ELSE. That would kind of kill the entire movie. I mean, the first movie was great but I hated that they didn't tell each other. *Pouts* When he proposes is my all time favorite part of the book!
  • Allison Cullen
Maybe they will add that part into the movie, where edward purposes, I mean in the first movie they didn't put alot of what was in the book so its kinda like a vampire love mystery i guess!
  • beth
THey better or ill be PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • hartsafire
The proposal has to be in New Moon, "Marry me First", that is his conditon to Bella for him turning her and not taking the Carisle option, which is what he is aiming for, Secondandly if you contiune reading on page 540 you will also see him saying to Bella, that "You're wounding my ego, Bella. I just proposed to you, and you think its a joke. Now whether or not they use the words will you marry me is totally up to the director and screenwriter. But the intent is still clear that yes Edward in essence did ask Bella to Marry him. Which is what needs to happen in order to set up the next movie, in which Bella has to choose either the Carisle option of changing after graduation, or the Edward option which makes him hers and vice versa, because that is what Bella really wants.
  • Love_Edward_always <3
You cant put the proposal in New Moon!!!!! Thats supposed to happen in Eclipse. In New Moon therre are to many parts that she hs to be human like when shes with jake. Werewolves and vampires dont mix they never will. It just cant be. Put the proposal in Eclipse!!!!!!!
  • pat
they are ruining the movie put the proposal in eclipse that's what said in the book. they already ruined twilight do they have to ruin new moon too?
  • Twilightchick
They should have it in there it is a great part of the book. Even though he doesn't really propose like you would think it is still suggested in the book as a condition that Edward has. it so should be in the movie.
  • noemi
well then thats a thought..... if they want to stay as in tune with the book, which i hope they do cuz they missed a good amount of details in twilight as far as the movie goes.... then edward should be putting the idea of marriage out there in the end...after all if u have read the book then u'll know that , that is one of his arguing points to try and get bella to wait on turning into a vampire.... he pretty much tells her if she wants it she has to marry him. but i think its more so he'll turn her that he says that. cuz he already knows that carlisle has agreed to it. but she wants edward to so thats what he puts out there.... so IF they follow the book it should come out . it may not be the whole down on one knee thing but it is mentioned.....
  • TwilightLove
they missed out the whole meadow part as well!! that is one of the best bits! as well as they days of questioning bella. lol
i can't believe it doesn't come out until november! i can't wait that long!
  • sam
oh he better say it!!!! that is one of the reasons why i cant wait till NEW MOON!!! they cut out "do i dazzle you?" for a good reason (kinda corny but i loves that quote) and they have no good reason to cut "will you marry me?" out!!!!!!
  • TwilightLove
i think that they should absolutley put 'i love you' and some way to show how edward would propose and the vote scene, i mean it is vital to the whole story line in eclipse.
i think that the twilght movie left out so many parts that they are going to have to make it up somehow in nm.lyk the whole section on carlisles history, i mean i love the movie don't get me wrong but i really HATE the writers for missing out so much and that they had better do a much better job of nm now that it isn't being rushed.
  • --taylorz#1girl--
they HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO put the proposal in the movie! if they don't then they're crazy. it sets the whole scene for bella and edward to get married, which bella doesnt want to do but must in order to get what she wants, which is edward changing her!!! GRRRRRR >.< if this scene isnt in the movie just like "I LOVE YOU" wasnt in twilight i will be uber pissed of and definitely contact them!! the books are PERFECT!! why mess with something so great? keep it exact? who cares if its like 6 hours long? if we're all die-hard fans like we say we are then im sure we'd sit there for 6 hours, crying, awwing, ooohing, yelling for edward to come back, and getting happy when he does, JUST LIKE when we read the books!!!! i personally would have no problem with that! i love jacob more than anything, but that would really piss me off if this scene isnt in the movie!!!!!!!!
  • Jadey
GUYS, Don't blame Chris if the proposal isn't in there.

    BLAME MELISSA. The crappy screen-writer.
THEN blame Chris for not insisting that the proposal should be in there.

They are all IDIOTS if they don't have the proposal.
Just like they were idiots who worked on Twilight.

I know thats harsh, but it's true.
  • Ry
Um, definitely not! The basic plot of each story should be kept in it's respective movies. Falling in love in twilight. The "mini-breakup" in New Moon. The proposal in Eclipse and so on. I really hope he doesn't mix movies.
  • Cullengirl
The reason Bella wants to become a vampire is to be with Edward, her fear of marriage is due because of her parents, she thinks marriage is the kiss of death but than her fears were put to rest in Breaking Dawn
  • KINALuvzWolves
    I won't hold my breath...
  • Although I found the undying love between the characters lacking in Twilight. (movie) The proposal has to be in this movie. Her decision, or lack there of, is pivotal during Eclipse. It's the underlying story of the whole thing.
  • crookedsmile
The marriage proposal or marriage condition (which is a better description of that scene I think) is one of the most interesting bits of the book. I always wondered which Edward wanted more: to delay Bella being converted to a vamp due to her horror of marriage for as long as possible or her agreeing to marry him as soon as possible and then him turning her into a vamp himself. I wondered whether he actually knew that Bella would hate the idea of getting married so soon. Whatever way her decision went Edward would get what he wanted.

This was the bit of the whole saga that I thought about the most. I can't imagine it being left out of the film.
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
I used to think that he was trying to delay her becoming a vampire, but if thats the case why does he try to do the eye smoldering thing and asks her "please, Bella" when he doesnt accept right away. And also the delay doesn't work because she tells him no over and over again.

I have 2 theories, but nobody humors me with the second one. So I'll list the first which agrees to what he says to her in Eclipse. He thinks that this will prove her love to him by accepting his proposal. Remember in Eclipse when she's asking him why he doesn't want her to be a vampire and then he asks her why she wont marry him, he tells her "Its not that you were... more eager for imortality itself than for just me?"

I think he just cannot accept that she truly loves him because he sees himself as a monster. As someone who doesn't deserve her. And he cannot accept that someone would sacrifice so much for him.

The vote IMHO is important because he always sees himself as directly responsible for her changing, but what happens in Volterra kinda puts it our of his hands and makes it inevitable.

    2nd?? curious now...n_n
  • ellis1516
he doesnt say will you marry me - thought
    its marry me first
  • 30yearoldtwifan
I just read NM again and what Mrs.Renesmee Black posted is exacly how it happens.
  • Edward's
That's true he really doesn't ask her to marry him he just put it out there like a suggestion. But i think they should still put it in there.
  • unique
Sure hope they put that he propose to her in there. Because to me that kinda start off eclipse's so it would be kinda stupid if they don't.
  • Diane
THANK YOU Honey_Bee!!! I was quite disappointed that "I love you" was never spoken between Bella and Edward in the movie. However, about my 20th viewing in the theater, I kept my eyes on Edward when he and Bella were speaking in the garage. I could have sworn I saw Edward say I love you to Bella. I was alone for this viewing so the next time I had my husband and another friend with me I told them to watch that particularly. They did not agree with me. They figured I wanted it in there so badly I was just seeing things.

I am glad to FINALLY have someone agree with my assessment of this. You are much appreciated!!!
  • crookedsmile
Did anyone notice that in the film Twilight, Edward murmurs something into Bella's hair when he is removing her jacket at the entrance to the Cullen's house the first time he takes her to meet his family. It looks like he is saying "I love you" there but I am not sure. He is definitely murmuring something behind her. He also looks like he is inhaling her scent.
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
I just watched that scene. The first time I was like I dont see it. After the 10th time Im seeing things too. I think he mouths "I" when she's not looking then finishes with 'love you too' when she looks up. Which wouldn't make sense because she doesnt say I love you to him. I dunno. lol
  • 30yearoldtwifan
As long as they stick to the book with the proposal will be happy. That will be the best part of NM for me. And of course the vote.
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
Too much confusion. Edward PROPOSES to bella In NM ! Heres what Edward says if you have any doubt:

"You're wounding my ego, Bella. I just proposed to you, and you think it's a joke."

    Got it! lol
  • yuka
they didnt even put the symbolism of "twilight" in the first movie.
they need to do that for new moon like when she was laying in the forest it was a new moon or something with the movie title.

i want to cry in new moon like i cried in the book. i want to feel the emotion. Chris needs to make me feeeeel!
  • ellis1516
if he leaves it out its not gonna make scene in eclipse
just like when all the cullens background was left out in
twilight its gonna be kind werid in new moon

PLUS!!!! they have to add in whn they watch Romeo & Juliet
so they can have the volturi chat - otherwise the end isnt gonna make
    sence again
  • ellis1516
he doesnt actully say will you marry me, thts wht he asks in eclipse
he says marry me first. he has to say those words or whn he proposes in eclipes it wont be as wonderful
  • Naomi
That particular scene you're saying where Edward told Bella to marry him is NOT in New Moon but in Eclipse. This is after Bella asked the Cullen family to vote whether to accept her as one of them and eventually change her. Bella wants Edward to be the one to change her so Edward gave her the condition that he wil do it if she will marry him. She even thought that it was just a joke and waiting for a punch line. If I'm not mistaken, it's in chapter VOTE...or the next one.
  • InlovewitEdwardandJacob
They really do need to add that scence in the movie BIG TIME. Because right after the voting happens at the cullen's house, he proposes to Bella if she wants him to be the one to change her, I really do think thats IMPORTANT. Chris just can not leave that scence out of new moon. I agreed with everyone who does really think that Edward should propose to Bella.
  • i know this isnt the subject but for some reason some people dont like new moon
i just have one question.... dont take it the wrong way
    WHY?
i mean in new moon to me it shows how much Bella and Edward love each other. It shows how much they care for one another .And most importantly what they would do if one or the other wasnt there anymore .
But once again like i said its just my opinion.
  • yea he does ......he syas marry me first and then he would make her a vampire
  • Hedvig95
I certainly hope they will... but don't he say "Marry me first" in the book?
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
A lot of people are confused about the marriage proposal. The marriage proposal comes in NM. She agrees to marry him in Eclipse but when he actually tells her "Will you marry me?' in Eclipse, he says "Now, I want to do this right. Please, please keep in mind that you've already agree to this, and don't ruin it for me." And he gets on one knee to formally propose to her.

    Hope that makes sense.
  • amanda
id be happy if they just put the last paragraph spoken by edward that is at the bottom of page 510! so beautiful!
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
Of course it HAS to be in it!! Hello, this was a very significant part of Edward's return... they have to include it even though the greater part of this occurs in Eclipse, this just HAS to be in it... c'mon Chris and Melissa!!
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
The 'I love yous" in Twilight are so essential to the story. Its so hard to believe that the director and writer did not understand that! IMHO its the turning point for Edward believing that Bella does love him and his ulitmate decision to merging their two worlds. (such as him introducing her to his family and asking to be introduced to Charlie). Yes, I know that they declare each others love in the meadow, but him hearing her unprotective thoughts while she sleeps would actually have more impact on him. Later in Eclipse he says that this was one of the best nights of his life.
  • robcrazy
i hope this not cut anymore
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
Edward asking Bella if she will marry him scene has always confused me. I deliverate
alot as to why he waits until after the vote. Can someone give me their takes?

And this scene is extremely important to Eclipse. You cannot delete the scene because it wouldnt make sense when Edward and Bella have the talk about why he wont turn her in Eclipse. How she's "worried" about why he wont turn her and why he's 'worried' why she wont marry him. And later in the book about the compromise he eventually agrees to so he can marry her. Im not worried about this scene being deleted.

I posted before that although Bella's friendship with Jacob is essential to the story it doesn't have to dominate the movie. This is her love story after all.
  • emma
that's a really weird and creepy picture you put up there ^^^^
  • yvette
yeah it has to be in it.
but i do think they don't.. have to make a real big thing out of it. that part is in eclipse, and it belongs there. that whole scene made me cry. it shouldn't be.. divided up or something.
i.. hope chris will make new moon at his best. there happens a LOT, and i think a lot of fans will be disappointed anyway, because it is just impossible to put everything in the movie. c'est la vie.
but then.. whát they'll put in it.. has to be perfect. just like the book. (:
  • alfredojwill
I have to say that Twilight was a great adaptation of the book, we have to give credit for staying true to the book, yes things were rushed but so much is in the book that cannot possibly fit it all in a movie, I agree the words "I LOVE YOU" should have been in there, I mean it is said so much in the books and we really need to understand the love Bella and Edward have for each other, I agree it was rushed but then again the constraints that the movie had like budget and keeping the movie 2hrs and having to appeal to a broader audience made it hard, but they did an awesome job with establishing what Twilight is all about, now with New Moon, Chris and the cast have a foundation to built on and make it even more intense for us followers and make it even that much better.
I dont have the book in front of me either but Im pretty sure there is no formal proposal, however that scene with Edward and Bella the talk they have when they get back from Italy and the Vote at the Cullens must be there, It is Edwards Moment to reclaim Bella, and once again see that intense love they have for each other. That scene is when you understand that no matter who comes along "Jacob" what happens "Edward Leaving", Bella's one true and unconditional Love is Edward and , Edwards reason for existing now is for Bella! I really feel that this scene is crucial to setting up Eclipse and ending New Moon....

I reall hope they get it right, because Twilight was rushed and although we get a glimpse of the Love they have for Each other, in New Moon with a bigger budget I think they Can give us all the fans a greater look at there Love and use the words " I LOVE YOU"!!!!!!!! ......oh and just to add to it I think the Jacob part can be cut short not to short we still need to see the connection Bella and him have but just like they rushed Edward and Bella in Twilight they can Rush Jacob and Bella in New Moon......

Btw I had to read New Moon 4times till I was able to read the whole Edward absent , the Jacob section, I kept rushing till I saw Edwards Name again!!
  • nicole lynn
inless they plan on mixing book in the movies
  • nicole lynn
ok so the whole marry me thing is in new moon but the whole part of if you marry me i'll be the one to change you does'nt even happen tell eclipse when she trys to seduce him.
  • Alice
i so think that they should include this part in the story it is a new chapter in the story and a mager event to the next story you need to ionclude this because it will open ways for the next director to expieriment way to open up the issue again in the next movie

an example of this would be yes to first open the disscussion o vampirism just be like bite me edward be liike no yoiu must marry me first before i do any biting lol
just a sugest but you must,i feel, include this it is a mager part of the strory
  • AQUA
well what can i say i was reading some of your comments plp ans basically u said it all.
i was too really dissapointed that the I LOVE U's were not in the movie that was one of my favorite parts in the book they could of cut many scenes that were not that scential and put in the ones that really matter.I dont want to be mean to the team jacob plp out there but they should shorten the jacob part i meant not to take it out of course that is provably one of the most important parts but they are even more important parts in the book for example the jacob and bella time that is said in the book was really slow pasting i think it was at times tooooo long sorry but its true they provably should rushed a little bit but leave the important part of them 2 like the motoclycle ,jake going to her room at night and the cliff, movies ect. you know where im getting at ,they should leave time in the movie for the end like the vote the part in her room after Italy and of course the "WILL U MARRY ME" scene that is the scene most of us are waiting for. thanx for reading have a nice day ^_^
  • twilighterrenthead
Um, he never actually says the words "Will you marry me?" until the chapter "Compromise" in Eclipse. Here's how the scene goes in New Moon:

Edward: All right, then. Forget time limits. If you want me to be the one, then you'll just have to meet one condition. (or something like that--I don't have the book sitting in front of me)
    Bella: What condition?
    Edward: Marry me first.
    Bella: No, blah blah blah.
    Edward: Please, Bella?

So, no, the words "Will you marry me?" might not actually be spoken in this movie. But they damn well better have that' scene in the movie! And they BETTER do an AMAZING job with the scene right after they get back from Italy (when Edward gives his little "meteor" speech and all that jazz).
  • hartsafire
You do have a few things right with your edward and bella dialouge but if you continue down a few more lines edward proceeds to say to bella, you're wounding my ego , Bella. I just proposed to you , and you think it is a joke. then continueing onto page 542 he asked if it would have went better if he had time to get a ring., So in the end edward did propose to her in New Moon.
  • alexaacullen
ok if they dont put the scene "will you marry me?" then i swear i will go crazy because tht was mi favorite part in the book!!(ok well not mi favorite part but it made my top 5..i should say top 3 actually lol)
  • YEA like they should shoot some scenes together(bella and edward ) having fun so they can put Bella remembering them throughout the movie
at least thats wat i think ...i dont know about you guys

but i also dont want them to put him a lot in the movie so that we can miss him the same way Bella did
    u really dont know
  • sabrina
they better not put that in new moon cause it doesn't happen till eclipse and it would be to much to be put in new moon besides it will give us something to look forward to eclipse
  • honey_bee
No, Sabrina. Edward proposes for the first time at the very end of New Moon.
    It's a lovely moment! Sniff, sniff. :*P
  • RobRocks
I hate it when they change the movie around. I watched the movie first than got into the books. I also thing that they should of put her fainted from blood in class in there.
  • Daniela23
Oh dear, they have to put it in, it is important for the rest of the story.
The entire deal with her wanting HIM to change her has to do with her accepting his proposal.
I really hope they'll leave it, and I don't understand why is it questoned anyway.
Just because he makes an official proposal in Eclipse maybe? I don't think that is a valid point though.
But it's true first movie made it difficult with no "I love you". I made a blind eye for other things that were wrong in Twlight, because I understood that they were all under pressure, and they were rushed....but no I love you is just too much.
I don't know how, but I hope he'll fix it.

What I find tricky is the time they have for their conversation after Italy. In the book it lasts quite a bit, but this is a movie and everything will be compressed. So I just don't want it to be rushed, they have to do it righ and give it time and not just ...

bella: oh I want to become a vampire
ed: maybe you'll like me to change you
    bella: oh yes, pretty please..
ed: only if you marry me first
bella: oh noez, i'm too young blah, blah....but ok
    the end.

I'm just afraid it will look empty because in Twilight them falling in love was just kinda flat, and rushed. So we don't have a strong stucture for New Moon.
  • Twi-Tiana_7
I think the conversation should take place yes but i do hope they wait for the proposal till Eclipse because when he does do it that is one of my all time favortie scenes in the book....when Edward "kiddnaps" Bella and they are at their house all alone! AH!
i love it and i want it in Eclipse!!!!
    lol.
sorry but thats just how i would see it rite.
but i do think that they should have the whole thing where they talk about it just not with the ring and all.
  • Nie
The quote belongs in the next film. Not this one.
  • Daniela23
Actually he says "Marry me first." when they talk about him changing her, as his condition for doing it.
It's isn't exactly "Will you marry me?" but the meaning is the same.
  • nemesis_CarolinaCullenCoven!nH
u got it right!! they have to make us feel that emotion, what's going on.. i love twilight movie, but it's true; no "i love u", not even once... it felt like something important was missing...the proposal, i can't understand either why people it's doubting it won't be included in this movie, it must be!!! if chris knows what's good 4 him :D....they should just stick as much as possible 2 the book!
  • Karla_Cullen1
If i dont hear at least one "I love u"
    Ugh! ill be so pissed!
  • robcrazy
he never says it pretty words like u are my reason to live.i won`t live without u. Edward does not say he loves Bella in the movies .i have never heard him say it. oh, sure the lion fell in love with the lamb was said not the same. Is Edward emotionally unable to say the three words?
  • nemesis_CarolinaCullenCoven!nH
yeah i know what u mean... one, just ooonee little "i love u" wont hurt anybody, instead it'll make more than one heart throb in theathers :D...it's a love story for god's sake....
  • Stephanie
I agree they have to put it it
  • Elloo
I agree Daniela23! The convo between Edward and Bella after Italy is VITAL to the movie making sense and being good. I mean, this was one of my favorite parts in the book because this is when Bella and Edward kinda really understand that they love each other--you know, because Bella always doubted how someone like Edward could love her, and Edward always doubted that Bella could love a "monster". and that conversation is the part where they clear that up. I hope Chris doesn't rush that part!
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
The epiphany scene near his house is important too. She has to be able to explain why she was hearing the voices. Thats why the whole Jake/Bella friendship scenes will probably be reduced.

There are so many ways to ruin this movie. Im already crying in disappointment. lol
  • Karla_Cullen1
Lol! lets give the guy a chance.. u never know...

i keep saying .. Jacob and Bellas relationship should be mostly in flashbacks u know, fast scenes that show all the things they did together .. but they cant do 70% Jake and 30% Edward in the movie .. i will accept a balance...like 50/50 :)))
  • Mel
I agree completely! I hope the scenes with Jacob and Bella are simple but good. I want to see more of Bella and Edward for me that is mainly what this book is about and what i love about the book.
  • Claire Danvers_Morganville
The proposal has to be in the movie along with the whole vote scene with the Cullens that comes before it. In fact everything should be in it, the only part of the book that I can see they can shorten is the Jacob bit, although there is action there with the werewolves.

New Moon will be a difficult book to bring to the screen. I just hope they stick to and adapt whats already there, not add bits in that don't belong e.g. field trip! and I never liked the flashbacks either, I felt that for those that hadn't read the book they gave the wrong impression of Carlisle.
  • AbsurdEnthusiac
That the last scenes with his proposal and the Cullen vote in New Moon finish off the book just as well as the last scene at the prom finish Twilight with the cliffhanger for the audience. I hope that the script writer did not mess with that ending, because it leaves you with the same feeling at the end of Bella and Edward being together but Bella's safety uncertain. It would be too fluffy and perfect not to end it the same way- this is not a Disney movie. Maybe they will do a Bella/Jacob montage the way they did the Bella/Edward one in New Moon so we can get to some werewolf and Volturri action!
Any way they do it, I am taking my box of tissue into the theater with me to get through this movie!!! TEAM EDWARD - yeah
  • Marianne
There were quite a few things that were not included or developed in Twilight, so that leaves things harder to be included in New Moon. The" I love you" ...and the whole background story of the Volturi( Carlisle's stay with them when he was a young vamp),...and james's involvement with where Alice came from. I think they slighted the whole Cullen family. Emmet especially. I hope they can make up for it in Eclipse.
  • tduffey
Oh I so agree that they need to have the vote in the movie... I laughed out loud when I read that part....Cracked me up!!
  • honey_bee
I agree, Carmen! There were so many scenes they could have done without. The whole security guard sequence, the diner scene with an old friend stopping by their table to reminisce about playing Santa,...even the field trip didn't add anything to the film. Those added scenes came at the expense of some potentially great Bella and Edward *falling in love* moments that were not filmed which were in the book. I would have rather seen more bonding scenes with Bella and Edward than a vampire killing spree, or some buffoon talking about "little bottles" any day.

moments we will never get back :( , like d blood type chapter, that would have been a good scene to put in the movie, + u can see mike newton's rivality with edward, not that there's any comparison, but still...
  • IndiesR
Exactly right, I couldnt agree with you more.
  • tduffey
If Chris is a smart man he will.....
  • Elloo
OMG Kristen should sing in The Runaways.
She is really has a pretty and amazing voice.
Wow that video of her singing in Into The Wild blew me away :D
  • Kat
haha yes i agree... becuase other wise millions of people (including me) will hate him forever. I do infact hold grudges.
  • tduffey
It's 1 of my favorite parts in the book so I really hope Chris puts it in
  • Decode
yeah, i have thought about that. and it really have to be there. if it's not, then i think we have a problem. A big one. seriously, it have to be there !

like other one's said, i was too upset, when words: "i love you" never showed up in twilight.
but let's hope the best, right guys? :)
  • Goldensrule93
No it is esential that he proposes in this book! She is debating through the entire next book about getting married because of it! She wants to be turned into a vampire but she is delayed because she wants edward to do it and she doesnt want to get married! It is SO important and it better be in or else I will be extremely pissed because New Moon was my least favorite book, Edwards not in it, And us Team Edward members need our Edward Moment! That was my favorite part :(
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
She deliverates about the whole waiting for him to do it, but not that much. When the danger with the newborns comes up in Eclipse she keeps asking to be turned. I think I like the delay it causes as she battles with it in her mind. Which doesn't translate to film well. What I mean is that when she's thinking about why she wants him to be the one. She thinks the whole, I want his venom to poison my system and how it would make her belong to him in a qualifiable way. Im not sure how they would incorporate that into the movie since she only thinks it.
  • Cullengirl
Marriage proposal is a most not only is it cute and sweet but just seeing Bella's face will be hysterical too.
  • Amanda
It better be i was so upset they never had the i love you's so they better have the proposal! Its what made the ending of new moon so grand!
  • beeee2222
I really hope that it is in the movie. Ill be one unhappy camper if its not.
  • ya same here
  • Hmm I wonder it THAT will be on the movie..
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
If they don't put it in . . . there will be a BIG problem. I was so ticked off that "I love you" wasn't said in Twilight. The LOVE is the story for the love of all that's holy. Just like him asking her to marry him is a part of New Moon. GAH! They better put it in there.
  • Surely part off the blame should be put on Melissa Rosenburgs shoulders, I swear I will hunt that woman down if she doesn't have it in the script! LOL
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! We should meet "half-way" and find her should New Moon flop!

  • mlj (Team Pea Coat)
I will help you in your hunt!
  • IndiesR
That's one of my disappointments with the Twilight movie, not once did they say the most important three letter words to each other, seriously, WTH was Catherine thinking? I really hope Chris pays attention to the important points of the book and make NM an awesome movie, something that will appeals to more than just us Twilighers. (I'm calling for RAVE reviews :))
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
I know, right? The scary thing is that it is the same screen writer. I hope she listened to what the Twilight Saga fans had to say after Twilight came out and did better with New Moon!!!!
  • honey_bee
You can see Edward mouthing I love you to Bella before Alice drives her away, but it's still not the same. Sigh.
  • Mrs. Renesmee Black
    Wow, I missed that. lol.
  • taly
OMG for real??? Geez now i have to go rent it again!
  • claire
the word love has four letters, you idiot!
  • How rude, was there any need for that!

    Childish much??
  • honey_bee
Gee, Claire. She obviously made a typo, so what. Who pissed in your pancake batter this morning? Sheesh.
  • IndiesR
I was referring to " I Love You". No need to be rude.
  • kristencullen
i don't think Chris would risk a mob of angry teenage girls.
i think he'll definetly put it in, its a very important part :)
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
    Teenagers? Forget the teenagers . . . don't cross we Twi-Moms!
  • honey_bee
Hahaha! I was just going to post the same thing, tweter. :D

Don't mess with the TwiMoms, Chris Weitz! Or else...GRRR!
  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09
My friends and I have no issue with hunting down whomever we need to should New Moon suck eggs as bad as Twilight did!!! LMAO
  • Amanda
I will be soooo pissed off if they don't include that part beacuse it's like the best freaking part in the book!!!!!! because i really didn't expect it and then when he says MARRY ME it's like IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIH. hahaha i remember that i bounced up and down in my room and my mom was like "what the hell are you doing amanda?" and i was like "EDWARD PROPOSED TO BELLA!!!!!!!" and she just rolled her eyes. hahaha so the point, I will be PISSED OFF if they don't includ it in the book. They will have one angry fan calling them ha!
  • smwannabe
I agree!! It was my favorite part in the book and came as such a surprise. Chris would be an idiot NOT to put it in. The entire ending of New Moon really started to develop their eternal relationship and even Edward seeing Bella as an equal. After all, she saves him in so many ways! Marriage is about equality and New Moon begins that process for them.
  • i belive that the words will you marry me will be spoken in new moon cause well it has to be establlished in new moon i think chris weitz will stay as close as possible to the book or i hope he will cause i know many teen and older girls will be way after him lol
  • MELISSA
I HOPE THAT HE DOSE PUT IT IN , ITS A VERY BIG PART OF THE BOOK I THINK .
  • IndiesR
It better be in it, or I will be one PO fan! Get it right Chris, get it right!
  • Damn right! Let's get the pitchforks ready! =D
  • AbsurdEnthusiac
Yes, hopefully they are still getting direct input from Stephenie and she will insist on some things being in New Moon that were not in Twilight, and It was a CRIME not to have any I LOVE YOUs or Edward humming a lullaby to Bella, some of the sweetest things about them.
I can understand having the LOVE THEME, but calling it her lullaby just did not work.
  • Agreed with you, if its not I'm going to fly over and hunt down that Melissa Rosenburg chick and chop her fingers off, then she can't right any more screenplays!
  • IndiesR
You're so right deedee Melissa has alot to do with it too, and I blame her along with Catherine for the outcome of Twilight. :)
