Day 20 of New Moon star Taylor Lautner and newfound friend Selena Gomez friendwatch. Selena gave the imminently cuddleable Papa Wolf aka Mr. Lautner a bear hug. No, this does not mean Selena Gomez is dating Taylor’s dad. All smiles between the pair as usual. They look happy.
NECA has a pretty amazing new Twilight product, and only 5000 will be made worldwide. It’s a full set of 72 Twilight trading cards with an official binder, and the Dr. Carlisle Cullen card is personally signed by Peter Facinelli himself.
Here’s a new audio interview with Michael Welch, who plays Mike Newton in New Moon. Of interest, he compares Twilight with New Moon–
“I think Twilight was really Summit dipping their toe in the water”…..”this time around … they put a lot of money in it, with time and prep–Twilight felt like an independent film compared to New Moon”
He also says Chris Weitz is one of “the better directors I’ve ever worked with” and that filming for Eclipse starts in August.
A mysterious sign has been spotted in Montepulciano on a gate of the Fortezza. The sign says “No Visitors Allowed” by order of Proscenium Pictures. This is the same company that recently held audtions for extras, as shown in the flyer that was posted previously. This sign may indicate pre-production is under way at this location to begin filming later this month.
UPDATE: A reader sends in this note, and says that while the area is for New Moon use, it won’t necessarily be for filming purposes–
I just wanted to let you know that the Fortezza will not be one of the locations, it is simply the place where make-up artists and costumes will be. Because it is near to Piazza Grande, where the big scene will be shot.
The Children’s Book Choice Awards has chosen Stephenie Meyer as author of the year. In a ceremony held in New York last night, she was awarded the prize for the fourth novel in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, which also won “Teen Choice Book of the Year.”
The ceremony was held as this week is the 90th annual observance of Book Week.
The awards ceremony, hosted by National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jon Scieszka, included the presentation of the Impact Award to Whoopi Goldberg in recognition of her vast contribution to the promotion of literacy and the love of reading among young people. Last year’s Impact Award recipient, Al Roker, presented the award.
Back in April we posted about Defining Twilight , a study guide for the SAT that uses vocabulary from Twilight to help you ace the test. Author Brian Leaf is now having a contest for ages 13-18 to write an essay of up to 1,000 words using 8 of the vocab words from the first chapter of the book. The words are: noble, sauntered, inconsequential, omnipresent, exiled, detested, erratic and permanence. I gave it a shot since I’m not eligible and while this isn’t an essay, here’s a sentence that uses all 8 words–
A formerly noble preacher sauntered into the pub, exiled from his parish with permanence after his erratic behavior on Sunday under the omnipresent eye of the lord–the preacher was now detested by his peers because the effect of the morning’s scotch on the sermon was not as inconsequential as he had first thought.
Justin Guarini, who was previously on American Idol, is yet another of the numerous musical acts hoping to get a slice of the New Moon soundtrack pie.
Although Guarini’s “New Moon” fate is still up in the air, he did say that the folks at the Chop Shop, the film’s music supervisors, have told him they’ve given the song a listen and will let him know if he makes the cut as soon as the decision is made. Guarini said that’s more than enough recognition for now. “I’m just happy they are considering it,” said the TV Guide Channel host, who’s currently working on his third full-length album. “It would be an honor to be on the soundtrack.”
Check out the song he’s proposing in the video below–do you think it fits with the movie at all?
We’re having an amazing contest for Robert Pattinson’s 23rd birthday today–to enter, all you have to do is use a webcam to record a video greeting for Robert Pattinson in the comments below. That’s it! Be creative, be funny, just don’t be R-rated.
To leave a video response with your webcam, just press the “Use Media” drop down box that is below or above the normal comment reply box. You don’t even have to sign up with Seesmic–just press “Anonymous”.
Standard rules apply–sorry, I can’t ship outside the US, but you are welcome to leave a video greeting from anywhere in the world. If you aren’t 18, get your parent’s permissions. Void where prohibited, no substitutions.
I will pick at random one video greeting in the comments below that arrives by Midnight EST tonight to win the prize!
UPDATE: Congrats to 30YearOldTwilightFan for winning the Ultimate Edition, hers was the name picked from the random drawing of all entries.
As for the most loved entries, this clever take on Twilight was a surefire hit!
