I think everyone is overreacting. I trust Summit & Stephenie completely! A marriage purposal is crutial to the story. They won't omit it I'm sure but they may alter it somewhat to make it even more better! They know what their doing! :)

Yea, even if they tweak some things the proposal will be at the end of NM or at the beginning of Eclipse. It's integral to the story so it can't be taken out. Keep in mind folks, he has several terms that he brings up throughout Eclipse...they may just be changing the order. In fact he refuses to let her be changed by any of his family until she's not being "forced" into it later on so they may just be moving that forward a bit. I'm sure either way they will more than make up for it if they change his first ultimatum....if not, Summit may just go out of business, lol.

I will be very disappointed if they change the marriage ultimatum. This is a huge part of the novel. I understand making the seen with the wolves and Laurent because and then with having you "see" Edward more in Bella's visions. But SERIOUSLY... The marriage ultimatum cannot be changed. I'm thinking that this is a bunch of BS!!! Of course there are going to be some things that are different, they're making it into a movie and it has to be visually appealing, but you cannot change a major part of the novel. well clearly she has...she's already let them ,reluctantly im sure, change so much and you can tell (if you watch the extra interviews on the 2 disc twilight dvd) that she wishes that they could've stuck in her iconic scenes, like the kiss WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN BELLA'S BEDROOM IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THEIR MEADOW...little things like that, it's obvious from the interviews that she wanted them to get it right.

Um... Stephenie let them take out "I love you" so no, I do not trust her on set. All respect to Stephenie as a storyteller, but she let them have too much leeway with her story for the sake of a movie that ended up paling in comparison to its canon.
I expect a "floating head" Edward, and I do want to see Laurent fight the wolves. I just really hope the people working on this movie take fan threats very seriously. If they mess up this movie by changing its star character's essential motivation, it'll be a fate worse than death -- it'll be professional suicide. Twilight fans are so ravenous that we'll not only boycott future Twilight Saga films, but we'll boycott anything Summit does, anything these writers do, anything the actors do. the source they are talking about the "exclusive" script they saw was probably the 2nd draft of the new moon movie that was leaked onto the internet cause i read that and there was no proposal.. but there was a proposal filmed so i hope they include it but if not im sure their is a good reason

In the movie making business don't they sometimes call actors back even after all filming had been done to either change or add scenes? I think that maybe sometimes they leak a little something here or a little something there to gauge what the fan response will be, then possibly go back and reshoot scenes to change or add according to the fans negative or positive responses.

They did that with the last episode of sex and the city, as well as in the movie... shooting different endings and/or multiple scenes... i watched twilight before i read any of the books... loved the movie, then after reading the books, i sorta like the movie... they left out way to much... i was disapointed after that.... i know they need to cut and condense, but sheesus, they can't cut half the freakin book, or change it that much... i'm sure i'll like it, but won't love it...

As far as the rest of the stuff goes...I'm glad about more Edi time. I love Edi. That man is effing hilarious. And I'm actually glad that they're doing visual apparitions of Edward, because A) it means more Rob, and B) I agree with Chris Weitz--it would have been seriously cheesy to have a disembodied voice in the movie. It sounds great in the book, but it's one of those things that doesn't really translate well to film.

I would love to believe that there are just some parts in the story SM would put her foot down on and never allow them to change or leave out in the movies, but unfortunately the Twilight movie is proof that isn't as true as we all would like to think. I mean if someone had told us back before Twilight came out that there would be no real meadow scene and no"i love you" in the movie we would have thought they were crazy and all said the exact same things we are saying right now like "SM would never allow that" and we would have been wrong because she did allow them to leave those scenes out so my faith in her to make sure such important scenes are not left out of the films has wavered after Twilight came out. I'm not blaming her because truth is we really don't know how much input she really has and how much/often they actually take her opinion into account. I mean it could be that she objected to them leaving those parts out in Twilight, but that she was overrided by the studio. Who knows. Still, I am praying that this is not true! I do not hold much stock in him giving her a different choice before making her a vampire-- They may well omit that scene in THIS movie all together.. he may try and hold off the choice at all until the eclipse movie, ( Just to help movie flow i guess I could understand that- let him do it at the beginning of eclipse) but like another comment says-- it is much much too big a part of the story line in the future for the proposal to never be there. And Stephenie is too big a part of the process to allow that to happen.. So no worries, guys.. He will propose. ; )

That's what I think they'll do. I think they are going to omit it altogether and start off Eclipse with the proposal to try and build suspense. If they do offer another ultimatim, I think they'll still do the proposal in eclipse.

Why would the change that part!!!!! It's so important to the rest of the series!!!! It's fine the way it is in the book!! Nobody want's this! The fans are fans because of the book, so why would they change such an important part of the book! Change hair styles and clothes but not major parts of the story line!!! Melissa R. should stick to writing for HBO mini series and leave movies to the big dogs!!! Some people aren't cut out for the big screen and clearly Melissa R. is not!!!

IT seems logical that there is a ghost image of him before her in order to make the connection to us viewers she is conversing in her head. This will give power to the scene no detract. It will put us closer to how she feels oppose to seeing her face going nuts with grief all the time. As for the marriage thing. I was told they had filmed at least three different ways on that...so I feel pretty sure that is left in and I would not trust most of the gossip mags for much. Do trust Ted Casablanca. He is Mr. Gossip and I feel he checks his stuff the most.

Well, they left out the I love you's in Twilight... so... BUT. I hope they don't leave that out because it was sooooo good in the book. She totally flipped out... and I was not expecting that so much. Definitely a defining point in the books...

It's been said, but I'll say it as well-the proposal at the end of New Moon is vital as it sets up the other 2 movies. If they leave that out, they really are changing the story. All I can say is I hope it's not true. I keep reading all over that they've stuck true to the book, so lets hope that's true.

I agree. I don't care so much about those other changes. BUT...i was very disappointed in Twilight when they never said "i love you" when its written in the book so much. Yet they took that out. That explained how much of a connection Bella and Edward had and in the movie you miss that. The only part you really see the "sort of" depth their connection is...is when bella is about to leave with Jasper and Alice. But, alas, I did like the movie. Thought it could have been a lot better. I thought they could have taken out some of the scenes that were not needed and added the really juicy stuff from the book that we all wanted to see.

As for New Moon, the proposal scene is the best part. It shows EVEN more...the depth of how much he loves her. To replace it with something else I think is SIMPLY RIDONCULOUS! I hope hope hope....this movie is going to be worth it when they are done "chopping and screwing" it. If not...sadly i don't think there will be any hope for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn....boo hoo! I

Hmm... I really hope they won't change that part, but as many of you said here they might just make him propose in Eclipse. I think that when Rossenberg wrote the script for New Moon they didn't knew if they were going to make Breaking Dawn, and probably that's why they didn't rush things. I completely understand that they cant stick completely 100% to the book. The is understandable. I'm chill with that. I understand that you have to keep viewers interested. The good thing about having not read the books before the movie is that, I didn't have expectations. It's always good not to expect the best in everyhting. It's very hard to incorporate everything in the book in a 90 minute movie. Did I appreciate the first film even after reading the 1st book? my answer is YES. When you love something, you can't just easily hate it if there were changes or if something was missing. You have no choice but to embrace it because you love the books and the movies outcome is just a bonus. Newmoon is going to be great because Edward didn't say I love you in twilight! that sounds even delicious! lol!

You know what I kind of understand why there might not be a proposal in New Moon. How can you have a proposal if there was never an "i love you"??? So I agree what someone previously said in a comment above somewhere...Maybe the proposal will be in New Moon. And the "I love you" will be in New Moon. Kinda makes sense. So they will have to make up for that in New Moon....they cant just fabricate a relationship when Edward isnt even present in New Moon (just as a hallucination) and throw a proposal in there when they've never said I love you. I am guessing the marriage purposal won't be the ultimatium because it is forcing her to do something that she isn't ready for. I think there will be another ultimatium in it's place but the marriage purposal will be made an even bigger event in the movie. More breathtaking romantic. Thats my opinion.

I understand the I love yous weren't in Twilight and that pissed me off but they did "try" to show there love in other ways, still seeing the pain Bella goes threw in NM. I do think at the end a bit of the ultimatum should be in there, as it was in the book. Then really get into it in Eclipse, as they better with Bella wanting to have sex that all goes along with the characters maturing.

The proposal is one of my favorite parts in NM. (Especially when Bella says no & Edward says something like you're hurting my ego Bella. I just proposed toyou & you think it's a joke.) I would really hope SM would talk to them about it if they did do something like change this. The proposal here helps to setup discussions & the official proposal in Eclipse (Chapter 20 The Compromise.) If Summit & MR know what's good for them, this will NOT be left out of NM.

Life and Style is just trying to get more publicity they are wrong about the end, because if Summit were to do that, it would mess everything up.

if they leave out the marriage ultimatum they better make it that more grand in Eclispe......maybe they are wanting to leave us wanting that even more i guess. Honestly, the whole brooding thing Bella does w/ marriage got tiresome anyhow. I know she's all uncomfortable w/ the age part of it but going on and on about it just got old. She so much as told him, " I dream about being w/ you forever." Duh!! That kind of translates into I am going to end up marrying you. Who really care when it is............Bella is obviosuly not going to end up playing the field-that's real obvious! I know that's just her personality (the no fancy stuff thing) but it would have been nice for one second in the book where she could have reverted to the whole romance of it for a few minutes. After all, everyone has a little bit of that side to him/her however cynical you are in life. I know it wouldn't be keeping in line w/ the book but i really hope in Eclispe she comes off as a bit more taken w/ the whole thing. She constantly is talking about how his touches, kisses make her dizzy/intoxicated so it would be so nice to see that on screen!! I just hope the rest of the movies portrays the depth of their relationship that we did not get in Twilight at all!!

I understand that movies have limitations as to how much of a book can be put into a single movie, but give me a break. Why, oh why, do they have to mess with all the details that makes the stories so addictive. Combine scenes if you have to, but don't change the story. The fans who read, and reread the books deserve better.

I really don't think they're leaving the proposal out of New Moon. I remember reading once that one of the cast members (Rachelle maybe?) had said they were shooting different "Rob proposal scenes" or something. It was a little while ago, but I remember reading that because it made me really excited for that scene. So I think they're still doing the scene and that this rumor was purely made to try and scare us Twilighters. So for now I think we should all take a deep breath and just hope that New Moon will be as good as everyone says it will be.

I like that they will add more action with Laurent and the wolves. It makes sense, more "visually" appealing. While I would have liked to miss Edward and have him make his grand appearance at the end, I will NOT protest to more of Robert Pattinson. :) The whole apparition thing makes sense too, Bella does "see" him in her mind anyway. Having read this book 4 times, the "Ultimatum" comes at the end after they return from his house where she asked the Cullen's to vote on her becoming one of them.
I don't think it is this big ultimatum, but more of a way to give her a reason to postpone her change. I think it is critical to the book and movie and I hope they will have it in there.

I totally agree and in addition, we know that once she saves him in Italy there will be many ILY moments and it Edward will make it clear to her that he can not live without her. I don't see where a proposal would be so far fetched. She is crazy in love with him and wants to spend an enternity with him, what is marriage in the grand scheme.

I certainly hope there is Edward giving her the ultimatum of marrying him in return for turning her. I am re-reading Eclipse and into chapter 4, its been mentioned three times already. It wasn't, nor should be the grandiose proposal scene, but by the end of New Moon we should see something about his desire to marry her before turning her. The last scene of Twilight was pretty close to the book as far as dialogue, so I think it will be fine. I do not give Life and Style much credence with accuracy anyhow. I hope they are right about the Laurent/werewolf fight. That will be great to see.

The "leaked" script didn't contain the proposal/ultimatum. BUT, that was the 2nd draft of the script all the way back from Dec. AND it may not even be the "true" script.

Dont want to be negative, but she didn't do a real good job of having the director make a good twilight movie. lets face the truth. it was great to see our characters, but the movie really wasn't good.

This would be utter bullshit if they change the proposal. I'm also very annoyed that Edward is going to be SEEN throughout the whole movie . His absence is what makes seeing him in Italy worth everything. If they ruin this movie too I'm not even going to wait and worry about eclipse.

yeah i think that it is a rumor cuz rob and kristen have both said in numerous interviews that the movie is very close to the book with a few things that are more intense than the book had them. so that is ok. as long as they are not huge changes and it goes good i am ok with it.

I've sat here and strained my brain as to what can be so much better? The only conclusion is that it's just BS from L&S. Can anyone think of any possible better ultimatums that even Stephenie would approve of? I cannot.... what do ya think?

There is nothing better. It's absolutely perfect the way it is imo!!!

Maybe someone should start a petition and send it to Summit/Stephenie Meyer's. If it is a rumor they would just tell us all to calm down, but if it is true, then maybe they could see just how much this means to all of the Twilight Universe and change it while there is still time. If one petition went to every Twilight Fan site, that would be an astronomical amount of signatures, and that would be hard to ignore.

We'll I'll definitely start one on my http://twilight-review.com fan site if that's what it takes. But honestly I doubt if any other fan sites would join in unless its confirmed it will be different (no marry me)

ok, what!? Seriously!?? Not only will this upset fans (something Chris did not want to do), but it will throw off the nature of the books! Edward is old fashioned....*sigh*....they will do what they want I guess, but it will mess up Eclipse and ultimately Breaking Dawn too.....

I'm not sure if I mind or not, the last movie was quite different to the book aswell, in the end nothing can beat the books but I think that if one would watch any of the movies (when they're all released) and thought of it as just a movie based on a book and not a book brought to life completely word for word they can enjoy it all the same =]

The whole "Seeing Edward like Yoda" is stupid, it would take away alot from the film, perhaps. Having Edward in the movie as visions or whatever could be a good idea though, make it slightly more exciting to the eye in the movie, in the book it's fine for it just to be his voice but on screen it would possibly take alot of the drama away from it...

The different ultimatum thing might or might not be true, apparently Breaking Dawn won't be made into a movie, so maybe they're trying to speed it all up to fit it into 3 movies?

I dunno in the end, I'm just a fan with a guess of what might be going on.

Actually there have been reports that Breaking Dawn will be made, actually Rob confirmed yesterday in Cannes that its a go for him. I initially thought the script could have been written that way anticipating BD was not made. I guess we'll see.

I'd be glad if there was no marriage ultimatum in the movies.
The whole 'we can't have sex until we're married, I'm protecting you soul' crap made me want to puke in the books!
Don't get me wrong, I love the books! But that religious abstinence propaganda almost did me in.

I totally agree with you. I love the longing in the books, and how at any minute he might get too excited and kill her. And I understand the they are books for tweens, so I was okay with there being no sex.
But the moment it changed from 'We can't have sex, I might kill you' to 'We can't have sex you might lose your soul'. That's when it lost me.

I don't mind them changing Edward's part in the book. I definitely like the idea of Edward being an apparition instead of just a voice in her head. It makes her hallucination/despair for Edward more intense. I also don't mind Bella doing more "dare-devil" risks...I thought that just riding motorcycles didn't seem enough of a danger. Also, the Laurent/Werewolves showdown seems interesting.
THE ONLY THING I HOPE IS A RUMOR is the part where they report that Edward might give Bella a different ultimatum! They cannot change the Marriage part of the deal AT ALL!!! then how would breaking dawn work?! I seriously hope that part of the book remains the same. OK...I am done ranting :)

I was w/ my Rob on the part about him not being that present in NM b/c I wanted to feel his absence just like in the book... and then be happily in tears when Bella finds him... aawww... but I'm ALWAYS ok with a bit more of him in the movie... lol.. as long as it's not TOO much where it takes the significance of his absence away... I wanna be in tears and hurt... lol!!

I am happy that I am not being so obsessive about New Moon for the moment.
I have found an AMAZING book series that is as good as Twilight (well, for me) and it's calming me down so I am less anxious about the movie and I can relax.
I was being WAY too obsessive about the movie before. I'm happy now. XD

just when you thought that the New Moon sequel would be perfect. If the people running Summit Entertainment knew anything about what their fans wanted, they would know that to differ from the book in any way would be catastrophic. I would have to agree with Robert Pattinson in that less Edward in the beginning of the book will make the reunion all the more enjoyable in the end. Stupid girls..... that is why we loved the book sooooo much..... because we missed him, Edward, so much.

I don't understand why they always have to change the book so much. I mean I'm fine with all of this stuff, except for the last one where he offers her something different. HE CAN'T DO THAT!

I don't mind if they push the proposal back to Eclipse, that's when she accepts anyway. And it might seem too rushed when the entire story is squeezed into a 2 hour-ish movie. I actually didn't like the fact that she turned him down anyway in New Moon, after she had been so distraught about losing him earlier. You'd think she'd have jumped at the chance, for heaven's sake, to have Edward commit to her like that. Plus, in a movie you can't always get inside the character's heads, as you can in a book. Hey, if Rob says it's a good movie, then it probably will be:)

i guess im not that gullible because i don't believe the last one at all. i have bought mags like that just for the pictures to make collages and stuff. LIFE AND STYLE, OK, US, AND any tab mags are rumor mags. they are the ones that say the someone is preggers, engaged, married, or dating. the tab mags do this for $1.99 they make off every issue. don't read everything you read please just don't. these mags are not reliable sources. they are like wikipedia. which i believe is all BS.

Some interview already stated they filmed the proposal two different ways. And didnt Rob state that if it was just a voice over it wouldve been cheesy? Unless I dreamt it he stated it somewhere. And who scares if Bella becomes a huge daredevil? I think it'd be way more exciting if she did a few more things in the movie. And the whole fight since between the pack and Laurent is okay in my book.

As long as it's good and doesnt stray too far from the book, I'll be happy. Hell I liked the HP movies and they're way different from the books imo.

I really hope the rumors about a change in the ultimatium are all false! They would be changing EVERYTHING if they changed that. IF they MUST change it, I hope it isn't that big of a change. Like seriously are you CRAZY!! If i were you Summit or whoeva writes these darn scripts i don't think that would be a smart move on your part.... We twi-fans are literally 100% committed to the novel therefore we know what should and what shouldn't be in the movie, and one thing is for sure, the proposal is a definite...and if you don't want a god damn protest going on outside of your establishment then maybe you should re-consider your decison...hmmmmm??? I have to agree with everyone's comments. The proposal/marriage ultimatum is the major part that defines who Edward is pivital to Eclipse and Bella's decisions along the way

If that last rumor is true, Mellissa Rosenberg needs to be fired. Period. Half of Eclipse is pivotal to that one scene, hello, that's the the whole turning point for the novels, imo. It builds to that request and then the rest of the novels are spent getting to their happily ever after. Ok, i just need to be quiet now, that is one of favorite scenes, like on top of my do not screw up in the movie scenes.

If you think about it it is not that different. I mean we already knew that her "dangerous acts" were going to be spiffed up a bit for dramatic effect on the big screen. And in the book Laurent does fight with the wolves but I am guessing that they are going to actually have him fight back in the movie more than the book does just for some action for us fans to see. That is alright by me. I mean all the wolf pack fans will like to see that more too. And the ultimatum. I mean that is not a big deal. It is going to be something along the lines or her going to school or something. It is not that drastically different from the book like Life&Style is making it out to be. They are just trying to stir up from drama frenzy if you ask me.

Because those "changes" are not HUGELY different from the book. Just subtle to keep us interested in the movie and had some more suspense for us.

Sorry for all the ranting...it just made me mad that Life&Style seems to be trying to stir something up. When we all know that Chris is following the book like exactly...according to the actors.

I've seen millions of interview where rob himself say that-and i quote-"it's as close to the book as possible" and changing all that stuff is not exactly as close to the book AS POSSIBLE !!!!!As for him being an apparition instead of a voice he said that himself and in my opinion i think its actually better than just the voice with that everyone wins! If this is true, then wouldn't Stephenie had to have approved it? Has anyone ever heard her say why, "I love you", wasn't said in Twilight? If she has so much creative control, then it would stand to reason, she approved of these omissions. However, once she signed on the dotted line, maybe all control left her hands and it is now up to the director and screenwriter. I would like to hear her take on this, even if it is a rumor. It would be hard for me to write this series, then give up creative control to someone else. Especially if that someone else is totally screwing it up and enraging my fans.

i really hope that last thing is a rumer and i hope that bella is reckless but not more then she was in the book but all the rest is good i love the idea about edwerd its really creative so they better hope the last thing s a rumer or people ae going to be pist

Look how important the MEADOW scene was to the story in Twilight, and we all know how that turned out in the movie9 a bit under whelming). This review feels suspiciously based on the leaked script. The leaked script didn't have the famous proposal scene in it which was the most poignant difference.

I don't know that this would *ruin* eclipse, per say.... they have to be able to keep eclipse contained as one movie and it would be kinda hard to be like "So Bella, remember when I told you I'd only make you a vampire if you married me after you rescued me in Italy? Kinda maybe?"

They might be keeping the proposal all within one movie for the sake of the strictly movie-goers who want an independent movie experience.

There was the cool, logical argument.

My argument:

That proposal picked up the end of New Moon in a BIG WAY and I would be COMPLETELY and UTTERLY upset if it was absent. I honestly thought that the script that leaked was an early draft because there *were* major differences, things that got glassed over, and I assumed it was because they were going to get fixed later. it would SUCK if that was the real script, it was only a so-so translation.

I understand some of the changes like laurent fighting against the wolves, that would be a awesome scense to see but them changing the ulimatum cant NOT happen, it really NEEDS TO BE THE SAME as the book if the want TWIFANS TO LOVE NEW MOON more and better than Twilight.

If there is NO marriage proposal..

They shouldn't vere off from the book and they shouldn't really add scenes that are not in the book either. The marriage proposal / ultimatum is part of the new moon book and should be used in the movie. So all in all it is probably just a rumor... it will be disapointing if it is not...

I don't think Stephanie M would allow that and from the stuff I read about Chris W he is trying to stay as close to the book as possible didn't he make Melissa R go back and fix the script in the end he has the say and I don't think he will dissapoint just look at the new cast he has given us and from the pictures fixing things up with makeup,hair,and clothes also keeping in details like red flag everywhere and a yellow porch.

No proposal would be utterly tragic! Summit! Say it isn't so!? That is one of my top 5 moments in the whole series! He HAS to propose... please, correct this insane mistake before it's too late!!!!

I think that Chris Weitz should take a look at this site. Please DO NOT CRUSH US ALL! Bottom line...the books are perfect...do not change them in any way. We have people in space fixing machines......therefore, you have the technology to do anything in the book. We will pay BIG money to see the book...but will not pay big $$$ to see a different interpretation!!!!

Even IF there is a different ultimatum, it doesn't mean they're doing away with the proposal/wedding completely. I agree, that it all depends on whether Breaking Dawn gets made (and until there's an official word from Summit, it's all rumor on that). At the end of New Moon, it almost seemed like Edward just mentioned this, because he knew Bella would object, and that would get her to wait longer to become a vampire. She completely shot him down, and he was mainly amused it seemed. It wasn't until Eclipse, until he became very serious about this, and actually did the get-on-his-knees-will-you-please-marry-me proposal.

I think the flittering image could be so stupid, but even the voice only would have been much harder to do in the movie. I like the idea of more action between Laurent and the werewolves, and that makes total sense from a movie perspective.
