thats the problem with directors that make a movie from a book.... if you want to do an excellent job you have to understand the book from different points of views.. i hated the part where edward is telling bella that surviving from animal blood was like good but not enough... and if u read the book he is talking about that sometimes it is not like human blood but it keeps him strong ...a some things like the kiss... THE KISS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE MEADOW! FOR CRYING AT LOUD! im glad i saw the movie before i read the book...(sorry for my english...)

I HATED the spider monkey line. It was the worst in the movie (along with the monkey man comment). Monkeys are not attractive, sexy, cute or romantic in any way. I hope that the director of New Moon has better judgement when creating their own lines...

I really LOVE Twilight (the movie) and will always support it HOWEVER I love it and support it only due to the book. The book was aaaaaa can’t put it in words. It was so strong, so intense, when you read it felt like you were there and I made up all the faces and all the locations in my head, and actually all the characters that they selected for the movie fits my inner imagination perfectly. The movie on the other hand was exciting for me as reader but also disappointing of how many IMPORTANT things got left out, some details got lost. Now I am no director so I don’t know if some details would work, maybe it would be just to long and strange for the people that haven’t read the book.

The love between Ed and Bella was not that strong as in the book, not so intense… But as long as we readers know how strong their love is, it will always works:) I just hope that we don’t get disappointed with New Moon… I, and I believe many of you, have such huge expectations. All I can say is I HATE and LOVE Twilight The Movie!

I couldn't believe the screenplay in that movie. That was one of the major drawbacks. I mean how can any Twi-hard refer that movie to a Twi-virgin? All they would do is roll their eyes & snigger - like my hubby did.

The book can take its own time to convey the feeling of the characters and a person can read 700+ pages book, at their own convenience, without any problem. But to give the essence of the book in 2 hours of movie requires real talent.

couldn't agree more. a lot of people had beef with Melissa Rosenberg, but the truth is, I think Catherine Hardwicke jacked up a lot of those lines! We'll see how MR does with the script in New Moon, but until then, I blame CH, LOL.

And they actually crammed a 600+ pages book into barely 1 1/2 hours- if you're going to rush through the greatness- leave the keypoints in..

The 1st time i saw CH's interview I was shaking my head like water has entered my ears. I didn't see the serious professionalism that directors have.

It is a very effective way to establish meaningful relationships between characters so the audience will sympathize and react.

I hope you are merely disappointed that BD was over, not cause you didn't like BD. :) I loved it! The wedding, honeymoon, surprises, suspense, becoming one of them and getting to live forever with the love of your life (existence ), and then possibly losing it all, more suspense, and then the happy ending. I thought BD was very good.

She could have done so much more with Breaking Dawn. There's a lot in it that I like, but bits and pieces are just... not right.
But come on... the arm wrestling scene with Emmitt??? Can't wait to see that on the big screen! :) LOL!

I hated reading from Jacob's POV. No offense to Jacob fans. I felt Bella wasn't the same either. I LOVED some moments and then HATED others. All in all, I was disappointed that it was over! I wanted to know what else would happen to them.

Oh and about 'spider monkey' and 'monkey man'. I did NOT like it. Did not need to be said, and wasn't funny. :(

I didn't like Jacobs' POV as well as Bella's POV.

BUT, if the time during the pregnancy was in Bella's perspective, it would be boring. She just rests all day and is tormented by Edward's opinion on the matter. From Jacob's POV, we get to see alot more. We get to see Edward fall apart, "burning at the stake", the whole wolf pack breaking apart thing, and see how Jacob feels about the whole situation. Also his attempt to imprint and then the actual imprinting.

True. One of my favorite parts in BD is when Edward can hear the baby's thoughts. Tears filled my eyes, really caught me off guard. I kinda (just a little bit) wanted bloodshed not bloodlust. That was just a tad bit diappointing. I hope I didn't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read BD. But who hasn't read BD on here?!

I liked that one too, I like their first hunting together as well :)

I know, I had tears in my eyes during that part as well!! It was so sweet... poor Jacob, I really did feel bad for him then. And yes, sorry if I spoiled any BD parts as well, but I think everyone's had enough time to read it by now. :)

I didn't like the Jacob's POV either, made the book slow down, and as I said, as if somebody else was writing it...

Had to have Jacob's POV. It's such a pivotal period in how he relates to the vamps and becomes sympathetic with them, after all, he becomes part of the family. You have to know exactly what's going through his mind. He's funny, too. A nice break after the serious Cullens.

If you call 'funny' having him channel Stephenie Meyer's discriminatory and nasty thoughts about blondes, fall in love with a baby, hate women in general (apart from brunettes styled after the author), and using italics so much you get a nasty headache from trying to read it....

Yeah, I have to agree with that. I loved reading it from Jake's POV. It made me more sad for him, though. :\ But yeah, he was a little more humorous, so that made it fun.

In the begining I felt the same as you. But give another chance to the book in a few weeks. It really has a very good parts. And now, well is not my favorite (for me Eclipse is the best of all), but I really like it.

Eclipse is my favorite book too. I admit that there were some good parts to BD but it doesn't feel like the first 3 books that I fell in love with. Hopefully my opinion will change over time like yours did :)

I also think Eclipse is the best of the saga, there is so much going on - and all of those leech-dog verbal fights are just awesome!

BD was ok, hovewer i have to agree with you, that it is not like the first three; a bit like somebody else was writing it...

lol, i loved the spidermonkey line, but mostly because to bella's nervous laugh after he said it! i thought it was cute! it reminded me of midnight sun's edward...where he isnt so perfect and he is trying really hard to be smooth infront of her....he doesnt realize that anything he did would be smooth as glass to her! so he tries to hard sometimes...example--being disappointed that he couldnt get the door for her, the mood swings...stuff like that there...

I liked it too! I'm so glad someone likes it also. And also I liked it more becuase of Kristen's little giggle...I thought it was adorable. It was cute indeed.

Yeah, he's trying hard sometimes, I guess he also feels guilty for even trying to be in a relationship with Bella. Everyone keep talking how "perfect" he is, but he's far from it, he just learns from his mistakes and I love him for that.
But I also think he can be very himself around her, just remember the meadow scene when he confessed everything to her and how he feels revealed even more that he hoped. I just love those two :D

And about the other lines possibilities, for those who don't like the "spiedr monkey" one.....it could be worse, just look at other ones:
“Wrap your legs around me and hold on tight, spider monkey” and “Fasten your seatbelt, it’s going to be a bumpy ride." hahaha so it could have been really, really bad haha.

I basically had a spaz at her laugh. I was pretty much screaming "WAIT, WAIT, THAT WAS ACTUALLY LIKE BELLA! DO IT AGAIN!" Sadly, she just went right on back to her man voice.

Well now that the DVD is out we can just keep rewinding to her laugh :)

Yes, Team Seth that second line was definately from HP 'Prisoner of Azkaban'..I just cringed when I read she had that as an alternative. Have found a few HP lines in the books as well though.

It's called All About Eve. Granted the actual line is "buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy night" but that's where the line comes from. It's a great movie, I highly recommend it.

Hey Nicky! It's funny cause she's hailed as this awe inspiring director who brought the Twilight sensation to life but it was really just a matter of being at the right place at the right time. I think once all four movies are out, the 'first' one will be known as the quaint low budget one that you only watch if you have to...

I think the main problem is the amount of 'passion' that she had. I'm a big proponent of passion but she was completely blinded by it. She wigged out Kristen and Rob cause she was so high-strung that her passion got translated into intense stress for the actors. Of course, I wasn't there so I don't know for sure but isn't everyone saying that Chris is the 'zen master' of directing? Zen being peace and tranquility. That would hint that Catherine was not the zen master?

I watch Twilight mainly due to some of the really great casting, and my passion for the saga...it is so nice to see them brought to life....

But the movie is a crushing disappointment.....because it's okay.....and it could have been brilliant....it's goofy...and it could have been heart wrenching. you really enjoy 1 scene but you know the next one coming up with have you cringing :)

She just got caught in her own little vision...even now she doesn't seem to be able to explain any of her decisions, and as we were saying earlier in the posts...she couldn't even explain the scenes on the DVD commentry... WHAT??

She not only messed up key scenes......... she just got the underlying 'feel' of the story wrong.

I think I read an interview with Melissa where she said she had only read Twilight when she wrote the script for it. She said she didn't want to read any of the other books until after the script was written just so she could capture the essence of the first book and only the first book. *screws up face ... wut?*

If there's a saga and the whole fecking thing is avaiable you READ IT!! If you're the screen writer (sorry Melissa coz it not my area as much as it is yours so forgive my rant). It's fine for the actors to just go with the moment....but the screen writer needs to know what will be important in the future of the story....all the little bits that need to come together :)

I completely agree. Something that bothered me with the DVD commentary was when Rob would ask questions about why she filmed something the way she did and she never had an answer!!! To me it's a bad sign when a director can't answer a simple question like that.

OMG i no, a bit that really gets to me is the shot from some bushes after bella has bought the book from the book store- its supposed to look like it is from someones perspective- so rob asked whos that that is supposed to be looking at bella, and catherine was like oh i dont no it was a hegdehog!

Absolutely....for example when Bella is leaving the bookshop and you have a camera angle from the bushes and he asks her "Is that supposed to be me looking at her then" and she said well what do you think and then says she doesnt know....well if you read the book you would know that it wasn't supposed to be Edward because he didnt know...well actually she wasnt even supposed to go into the bookstore but you get the picture.
