Catherine Hardwicke on Why the Twilight Kiss is the Best

by Will on May 29, 2009 · Comments

in Catherine Hardwicke, Twilight

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke gave MTV a tour of her home and her Twilight memorabilia, now she’s explaining on video why the kiss between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight deserves to win the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss on Sunday. I think we can all agree on that assessment!

RadarOnline also takes a look at the kiss, comparing it to Zac Efron’s effort from High School Musical 3:

When it comes to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s forbidden vampire-on-human kiss, Demirjian was impressed. “I looked at this one a few times, cuz I was like, ‘whoa!’” she laughed. “The kiss was so sexy, just the way their lips were grazing against each other—it wasn’t deep-throat tongue kissing.” Part of the appeal of this silver-screen kiss is the tension, Demirjian said, which gave the eventual smooch “all the perfect makings of suspense and anticipation. And that makes a kiss more desirous.”

Yea...it was a hot kiss, it deserves to win.

There, that was the calm before my storm:

But, you know when she talks about this tension that builds between them, I just wanna slap her about the face and head screaming: "Oh, you mean the tension that seems to build over only 3 days in the MOVIE??? Hmm, That tension Catherine? When it is supposed to be soo much longer and more intense like in the BOOK... Oh, and the tension of the kiss that is supposed to be released in THE MEADOW scene you ruined? Is that what you are talking about Catherine? I just wanna make sure we are on the same page, moron!"

She is stupid, and I don't like her one bit. LMAO!
    **sticking tongue out at catherine**
  • ♥LoveThemCullenBoys ♥s Edward♥
She so did ruin THE MEADOW scene!!! that was a HUGE disappointment!!! To tell you the truth she ruined

"Twilight" if you ask me... The whole movie was so rushed....it should of been a 3 hour movie...Why in the Hell

    not right?

*sticking tongue out at Catherine too!!*
  • bina209
You Effing said it all, You just took all the word i wanted to say and sum. LOL !
  • Briele
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
Well, that sucks she won't be there. But I am kinda relieved. She just seems so ..... i dont know....ungrateful? to her fans sometimes. It woud have really irritated me if she would have won and in her speech she would have just been like: "wow, um....**fidgeting around** Thanks" and walks off stage.

I like Kristen, don't get me wrong, I just think she seems so "Woe is me" all the time...if you don't like it, quit. LOL
  • Briele
I really hope it's BS. It's a big deal the she should be there. I mean mtv is fun and nothing like the glamourous Oscar's. She can be Kristen in there.

I like Kristen because she is real. She just have her timid moments which is understandable. It's pretty obvious that movies like twilight is not ideal to her but the fact that she works hard for the movie and do a great job at it is enough for me to appreciate her. It's kind of uneasy when her father said that she did not accept the Oscar invitation because twilight is not a big movie. I mean that's a respectable reasoning but unwise. SHe should have treated the invitation as a privilege instead but yeah she is who she is and that's the admirable side of her. I like her still.

hope she can make it to MTV awards. I would like to see her with Rob as presentors.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Oh, I didn't know she didn't accept the Oscar invitation for that reason, is that quoted somewhere?

Depending on how she worded it, it could have meant "not going to the Oscar's, I'm not worthy of going" (which is a very humble response) or it could read as "Twilight is not as big a deal as all these other movies" (which can come off as quite rude).

As long as she continues to play Bella, and does her best, I have no beef with her. I'd also like to see her at the MTV awards, just being her.
  • Briele
Yes... And I think the father's statement is not so humbling but regardless, I still respect Kristen's view on things...

    -----------------------------

Access’ Billy Bush got the answer on the red carpet, when he asked Kristen’s father, John Stewart, why she wasn’t presenting with Robert Pattinson.

John responded that Kristen would present at the Oscars, “When it’s a great movie, not just one that makes a lot of money.”

    -------------------------

She is very good at playing Bella and she may not totally like the hype but atleast she continues to give justice to the portrayal of the character. I think she likes to play challenging roles better than a teen flick film. I can't help but admire her on that sense as well because she is being real unlike some people in hollywood whose main concern in to impress the fans by appearing nice and beautiful....Again, I still like her...
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Hmmm. Maybe that's just Kristen's dad's view on things. And, as much as that comment stings (at first)-- it's kind of the truth. Twilight is an AMAZING story (or else we all wouldn't be on this thing night and day, lol)- but the movie, itself, didn't portray the book enough to make it a 'great movie'. So, I have to say I agree with his comment (she still could have presented, though, lol)

After checkng out good ol' IMDB, I'd say her role as Bella is the biggest role she's ever had, and if she wants more challenging roles- the Twilight saga is an excellent start (ex: Rob Pattinson with roles like Salvador Dali, Bel Ami..etc).

I like her, too. I've read a lot of interviews where she says she's 'psyched' to be doing these movies.. I first saw her in the movie "Into the Wild"- and when I found out she wrote the song that she sang in the movie, I was even more impressed.
  • Briele
LoL! If you also have seen the commentary cd of twilight with Catherine, Rob and Kristen, it's very obvious in there that Kristen has great ideas in mind. Even Rob himself. Maybe it has something to do with the budget and don't get me wrong, Catherine did her best but maybe her best wasn't good enough for Kristen to be so impressed. I heard her ideas in some scenes like for example the cactus! SHe brought the cactus with her all the way from arizona to forks but no further significance after that. SHe kind of snapped Catherine on that.lol.

I believe as well that because of twilight, Kristen will have more followers and I think that because of that there will be greater opportunity for her to make it big in the industry and achieve the kind of roles she dreams to portray... Way to go for her!
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
THIS is why I like her, check it out.. :0)

    http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/marc_malkin/b10...
  • Briele
This just explains everything LOL! thank you! see why we like her? hahaha.
  • kristine8
I could swear I saw an interview with Kristen after the whole fiasco of her Dad's comment where she said that she actually wasn't even invited to the Oscars, and would have gone in a heartbeat.
Can't remember where I saw it though.

I think Kristen does pretty well with the whole fame thing considering how ridiculous it is by times. We've all seen video of fans throwing themselves at them and basically acting like they don't have a single braincell between their ears. And to get through all the inane interviews where you're asked the same stupid questions over and over.."is Rob a better kisser than your boyfriend?...when are you and Rob getting married?" I can think of only one way to keep my sanity through all that ...print off a damn copy of the millions of dollars in my bank balance and refer to it every time I get asked yet another stupid f*cking question.

    "Do I believe in vampires?"

    *checks bank balance*

    "Yes. Yes, I do"
  • Briele
Hey I was also thinking if she was even invited in the first place! lol! that's good to hear she said that but yeah the dads statement is still a bit pinchy.lol. who cares though. I just have this open mind to individual differences.

hahaha. I think Kris has just less patience on stupid questions. It's very evident on her interviews. I can never be an actress myself if I have to deal people like that.lol. I love her!
  • Briele
Here it is! thanks to RobismyHero above!

    http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/marc_malkin/b10...
  • i disagree, because the only one who seems to me that doesnt appreciate the fans is Rob. not once has he given us credit or thanks that i know of. sorry but its true and i dont care if anyone throws kinves at me. i still like him and admire him but he could be more appreciative. the most appreciative ones are taylor, edi, rachelle and the rest but not the onscreen couple so much. but with that said kristen has given thanks to us and has even said she loves us.
as for her woe is me thing, thats just her attitude always lol. some people are born like that. and maybe she isnt like that, maybe thats just her face lol.
i hope she is there though cos im also on team kristen! lol
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
oh shucks, Kristen. Oh well.. HELLOOOO mr. pattinson!
  • Briele
    lol! heheh
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I like to see that you have recovered from your disappointment quite well.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
haha, I can't help it. Rob takes up most of my attention, I forget that other people (including fellow Twlight actors) will be there.
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Other actors????????????? Wha........................? Oh yeah, oh yeah, I remember now - other people in the film. Doh, I totally forgot about them.
  • Vampgirl(Team Robsten forever)
Kristen was not invited to the Oscars, and another thing don't you thinking showing a clip at Cannes of the movie is a little disrespectful to her and Tay?
  • Nina ♡ The Twilight Saga
I so agree. She could have done a much better job on the Bella-Edward relationship. My friends who hadn`t read the book didn`t understand how much in love they were, because everything was so stressed in the movie. Hopefully we get to see tons more of Bella-Edward love in NM and maybe get in the L-word in there =P
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
Hmm, I must suck then because I don't think we should see that much of Edward in NM. He is gone - he left. They need to focus on her relationship with Jacob more in that one, their relationship is so pivotal in the next two books...

I agree that we should feel the love between them, to make it more believable, but I don't think we need to see alot of Edward. Him being gone, and her just being SO depressed about it, basically a shell of a person will say so much about their connection on the big screen.
  • Nina ♡ The Twilight Saga
no I dont think we should see more then the book tells us...but I just want to see more LOVE, like they really can`t live without each other. I dont think Twilight really captured that at all....
  • bina209
Ya in new moon I want to see that also the LOVE and how they really cant live w/o eachother....because after I watch Twilight I was thinking how are they gonna really explain bella's depression in new moon he leaves her pretty much in the begining...and not only that she misses the whole family mostly Alice! and in Twilight they didnt show how much she loved the Cullens.
  • Nina ♡ The Twilight Saga
Exactly! They have a lot to capture in the short time before Edward leaves in NM to make up for CH and Twilight to really understand why Bella gets so depressed...
  • Jaypat
You know I'm all about Rob, but I agree. He shouldn't be 'seen' in NM. I want to miss him and ache for him.
  • n/a
that's exactly how i wanted it. . . if Edward is not seen throughout the movie it will make his big scene at the end much more emotional and amazing but i think that Chris is a much better director than Catherine.
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
I completely agree, it will make more of an impact if he isn't shown as much, the reunion will be that much sweeter and if they don't say those 3 words to each other i will hunt rosenberg down and set the damn wolves on her LOL!!!!!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
I know!! Tell me why they weren't said in the first one again? She said it to him after the meadow and he said it to her on the way to the baseball game.... Rosenburg is #2 on my beatdown list...Catherine is, of course, number one. LOL ;)
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
LOL!!! i know!! rosenbergs my #1, she screwed up the script, changed a load of the original dialogue to her crap, and then to top it all off she's spouting breaking dawn should be pg13 , that tramp is going down, hardwickes 2nd, just for the twinkle music alone when he sparkles *shudders*, how could she allow that crap, awful!!!
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Effing, you are proving to be a woman after my own day and day. I've said this multiple times! I LOVE edward/rob-- but his presence is supposed to be missed in New Moon. We are supposed to feel broken hearted with Bella when he leaves- and hope that she finds something with Jacob. Twilight virgins should be kept in suspense about whether or not Bella will start something with Jacob, or hold off for Edward.
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Anyone who "GETS IT" agrees with you. What ever happened to literary integrity? It's a story for God's sake and it was told that way for a reason.

Make a book into a movie.....................

Really, is it that difficult to take a great story with action, tension, and romance and f it up?

Steph gave all the dialog you need for the movie. Her dialog is among the best I've read, because it puts you there with the characters. The work was already done - use it - it is your friend, screen writer.

Argggggggg, this really get my dander up!
  • i totally agree. but i think i've just had an epiphany as to why they did that. i felt twilight was rushed. so the non-twilight fans when they see NM, their gonna be like "why the hell is this idiot crying over a guy she just met and supposedly fell in love with over the course of days?"
    maybe thats why.
  • honey bee
I agree! There were so many scenes CH could have done without, but nooo...she just had to add them in there. The whole security guard sequence, the diner scene with an old friend stopping by their table to reminisce over playing butt-crack Santa (WTF?),...even the field trip didn't add anything to the film.
(Although, seeing 'Edward' pounding on the school bus glass made me melt.)

Those added scenes came at the expense of some potentially great Bella and Edward *falling in love* moments that were not filmed which were in the book. I would have rather seen more bonding scenes with Bella and Edward than a vampire killing spree, or some buffoon talking about "little bottles" any day.

You can even hear her mentioning it in the commentary! "Yeah, dude. They totally wanted me to take out the awesome 'little bottles' scene, but I just left it in. Aahahaha"

    The woman is PURE. EVIL.
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
It's like she took a long hard toke off her crack pipe and said "How can i make this movie any "BETTER" for the wonderful people". She really shouldn't make such decisions under that kind of influence. LOL

Sorry, but I just cannot stand her for the mutilation of that movie, charges should have been pressed against her or something. LOL
  • honey bee
    LMAO, effing.

I think you're right. The woman is on hardcore drugs. I can't see any other logical explanation for this type of behavior. LOL What makes my heart break is, we won't be able to get any of these moments back. We were robbed... *weeps*

The ONLY thing I give her credit for is the Midnight Sun reference during the deleted biology scene (Edward's hand up Bella's shirt?..GAH) in the 'vampire kiss montage'....AND she didn't even use that scene in the film. *growls* If you're not going to add romantic scenes in Twilight, Catherine, you could have at least added some smut. Sheesh!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
LOL, yes more smut is always better when it involved Pattinson...

Agree with you wholeheartedly on the rest of your comment too, but just wanted to voice my strongest one first... LOL
  • Ok, I've decided you just need to start a blog where we can view all your comments daily. I couldn't agree with EVERYTHING you have said more!! I'm crackin up over the "crack pipe" comment how fitting!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
LOL, Why do I need to start my own blog? And miss out on annoying my wonderful friends on here everyday? Never!! They would be lost without me!!! LOL ;)
  • Aloha - Scooby Doo
Yah, sometimes I wonder.... just who the hell is Effing?? What is her bio?

Wait! Never mind. Anon is good. We really don't want to know and have it spoil the fun!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
yes, and so with that - I shall remain a mystery!!

    LMAO
  • *calls for public apology at the MTV awards* LOL.
  • JoUK
The funniest thing is she wanted to stay true to the book!
  • kristine8
I have to agree with you. In November I was dragged to see Twilight by a friend, only because he's nuts about vampires. I'd never heard of the book series at all. Saw the movie, thought it was ok, and decided to see if the books were any good. After compulsively reading all 4 books for the 4th time I would testify before the grand jury that Catherine didn't come close enough to showing the intensity of E & B's relationship to touch it with a 20 ft pole.
I don't know if it's her fault entirely, or the screenwiter's, or whoever, but I have a hard time taking her skills seriously when she talks like such a frikkin' pothead.
  • OhEdward (The Original)
You said it Honey! Her directing with Rosenberg's script.

A match made in literary hell!

It sickens me to think of the lost potential!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
I know. That movie could have been so much greater than it was.. I really think that Weitz will prove to be the best person to save it though.

**saying prayers to Twi-Gods to grant me that one wish**

    lol
  • OhEdward (The Original)
    * I promise, only one wish and I'll never ask for anything again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, until Eclipse*
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
    LOL, exactly....

What I meant to say is "grant me that one wish - this year" I think I am entitled to one wish a year, that should give me wishes for the other movies... LOL

Thanks for bringing that to my attention!!! lol ;)
  • JoUK
I hated the way they 'loved' each other after 3days too!
I get that its a film and they need to speed things up but come on!
I may have been abit generous when I said there were only a 'few' things I didnt like bout the film!
  • forevertwilight
the only thing she did right was say 'IT'S A WRAP' on the last day of filming :)

    - i think she got the kiss right though, that was PERFECT.
  • FINALLY, SOMEONE THAT AGREES with ME!!

gosh, everytime i said that people jump & freaking stone me... she did ruin it! lol it shouldve been EPIC! like the book.... the MEADOW scene was RUINED but w/e SHE BETTER NOT RUIN NEW MOON!!

it is still hot beause of ROBERT PATTINSON
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
NM is already better because she is nowhere near it! LOL
  • Summit should get a restraining order against her!
  • honey bee
I am laughing so hard, my sides hurt...XD
  • Grasshopper
And yet they have hired her again for another YA novel turned movie. I never really understood Catherine's and Summit's relationship.
  • LOL, I KNOW I KNOW I WAS MAD, I WAS GOING TO EDIT MY COMMENT... but you beat me so i cant change it...

&&& YES THANK GOD SHE'S NOT!!

BUT IM REALLY HOPING the RUMORS are not true...

i heard that the reunion will be short & simple *the scene of her bedroom* ... i really dont want to think about it....

PLEASE GOD, please let it not be the truth... pleaseeeeee
  • Ciggy_
Yeah Catherine "Shut your Effing Pie-Hole already!!!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
It just irriates me because it is like she is taking credit for the dialogue in the kissing scene. Those words would have never been spoken if SM didn't put them in the book. As if Catherine and her peanut she calls a brain can think of anything that classic. PLEASE!! LOL
  • here here, you took the words right out of my mouth, they got together way to quick compared to the book!!

I am SOOOO glad they got rid of Catherine for Chris, anyone has gotta be better than her, she didnt know the reason behind half of the shots she got, like the ones when bella comes out of the book store by the bushes, i was like WTF?! And those god damn wires moving on Bellas face when she is in the hospital! I was like anyone would know to make sure the wires r in the right place! ARG! ok lol sorry rant over =]
  • agava CW4BD
Absolutely true, you know for someone who didn't read the book it's like "hey, 3 days and what they're in love for living and for dead??? i don't buy that!!!"
in the book it's builds up slowly, you can see this relationship developing, how Edward is fighting with himself to finally give up and tell himself that there's no point doing that cos he loves Bella and she's the one he'd been waiting for.

you know i watched the film first, then i read the book and was disappointed, so many beautiful scenes omitted i know it's impossible to put everything, but hey, you can still try to put the best

The kiss was great though it was just the way their relationship was developing (in the book of course) with a litle fear and hesitation at the beginning, but once their lips joined it was like an explosion

i am sure it deserves the award
  • I no right, there were so many good scenes missing, and i will also always hold a grudge that there was really no real medow scene, they always refer the the one here bellas calls him out in the woodsas the medow scene but in the book its completely different, i can imagine Meyer was pissed too, i mean thats the scene she dreamt! oh well

NM will be 100X better =] and the kiss scene was amazing in its own right and i hope twilight wins every award its nominated for, if not because of the actual movie but because of the fans.
  • agava CW4BD
i don't actually see any meadow scene either, to tell the truth i'm glad to have watched the film first cos if I had read the book first i think i would be much more disappointed; i'm not saying i don't like the film, some scenes are really stunning but compared to the book... well i think you know the answer (...)

Twilight is going to win everything and this is going to be OUR victory;D
  • You nailed it! Beautiful!

Take that awesome kiss (and it was awesome) and place it in the meadow with an Edward that sparkles properly...

    *hyperventilates and 'goes Volturi'*
  • Ciggy_
Yes *sparkles* not jingles... God I hate that.. The kiss was awesome loved it.. Obviuosly she was off that day?
  • jingles...LOL. That is soooo bad. Thanks be to Chris that the music guy was replaced too...

I just have this feeling that Chris is setting the bar pretty high...hopefully David can keep up!
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
oh yes, I think Chris is going to make New Moon so awesome, that Catherine will be the laughing stock of the film industry once New Moon hits theaters..
  • I wonder if she knows that...
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
in her convoluted mind, she probably thinks she is fantastic. ugh..
  • Ugh...true and she'll continue to think that cause when New Moon comes out and rocks the world, she say that it was because they had more money so of course it's better when in fact, while the money is certainly an improvement, it ultimately comes down to Chris and his steady and thoughtful vision...not Catherine's spastic and dare I say - drug induced - vision.
  • im totally on your wagon ! I hated that the scene wasnt in the meadow, actually i hated the whole meadow scene to be honest. I watched the movie 1st so i had no idea that it was wrong. then when i read the books i was like WTF??!!! this was so romantic, why did they do that?!?!?!?
  • n/a
i know . . . the meadow scene was one of my favourites from twilight and in the movie it was kinda not there . well it was sort of there dotted around in some places during the film but still . . .
  • Rock_Paper_Scissors
i truly dont understand whats so hard about sticking to the book. . . i mean were fans for a freakin reason . . . Okay, im sure some things had to be changed for a better visual effect but adding totally unnecessary and idiotic lines and scenes was totally uncalled for . . . u have a great book STICK TO IT! i dont know who i hate more catherine or rosenberg . . . i would love to slap them both . . . i hope shes truly embarassed when new moon comes out but im sure that crackhead wont even notice and say it was only great because of twilight's success . . . ughh
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Ah, another article where we can discuss our huge dislike of Catherine Hardwicke, and what she did to our poor, poor movie.

First, I will start off by saying that Catherine did a good job for the budget she had for this movie.

That being said, how could she possibly ruin a movie with a plot that was handed to her on a silver platter? Stephenie did all the work- all she had to do was bring that to the silver screen. EPIC FAIL.

From what I've seen in the commentary, and the extra scenes- Catherine took the script and interpreted Twilight from her perspective (and her's only, IMO). Something of this paramount popularity, she should not have been so selfish. She focused way too much on adding CGI tree's around Bella's house, and the 3 'bad' vamps eating Waylon-- she could have thrown out Waylon's character completely and developed the love story more!

When I watch the deleted scenes, or the extra scenes- they are all scenes exactly from the book- and they only lasted a total of, what, 3 minutes? Why couldn't she add those, and leave out the other nonsense??
  • Mr_Darcy
Exactly, especially the "Your number was up the first day I met you" scene. But what was with the whole finger biting at the end??
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
ah yes! I loved that scene!

The finger biting thing at the end was kind of weird, but I still would rather watch that as opposed to that other junk CH threw in. LOL
  • Aloha - Scooby Doo
Nooooo, no finger biting. Edward couldn't, wouldn't have done that. I'm so glad they cut it. Although Kristen keeps referring to that scene in her interviews as one of her faves. Ugh.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
haha, I don't know how Kristen can pick a favorite scene- any scene with Rob in it would have to be the best!
  • LaurenLautner
Aw! I know! I loved that one! I was so excited when I was watching it for the first time! I was like "WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH CATHERINE?! WHY DIDN'T SHE KEEP THIS?!" Until it got to the finger biting. Then I was like, "Um... THAT wasn't in the book."
Way to go Catherine. Way. To. Go.
  • *High fives you* You tell her girl! Better get that tazer charged!!! LOL
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
LOL, the Catherine subject tends to get the worked up a bit. LOL

**tazer fully charged and ready, applying target to Catherine's back**

    Ready whenever you are!! LOL
  • emmettsgal
That Skeletor look-a-like wouldn't have anything if it wasn't for the fans and Rob!!!! I'm right behind ya w/ a baseball bat in one hand and a box of Ensure in the other.
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
Thank you. I thought I was the only one who thought the meadow scene was completely hosed. Hated it, left a bad taste in my mouth for Catherine... among other scenes. But the meadow, come on... why Catherine???? WHY!?
  • Oh well... still hope Twilight wins
  • LaurenLautner
Thank you ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson! You said that PERFECTLY!
I can not stand Catherine Hardwicke. Plus what she said made no sense. Why did she keep going on about how he said "Don't move". And then she didn't even quote it right. He did not say, "There's something I've gotta try." He said "I just want to try one thing." Jeeze. She flipping made the movie. The least she can do is quote it correctly. LOL.
Catherine is an idiot. I am so glad she isn't making New Moon. Now she's going to go ruin Maximum Ride. Whoopee.
  • snuffiesnoop
Yeah, I think his line "Don't move" right before that sexy hot kiss was a killer. I know it made my blood race. I've seen all the kisses they have up for grabs and by far Edward and Bella's kiss was the hottest, the most exciting and the most sexiest. I wish Angelina would stop trying to be bad ass. I hate her so bad!!

Anyway, Twilight kiss is definately the best. So props to Catherine for getting steamy in the bedroom *Thumbs up*
  • crazy4cullens*RollingRockRob
Oh yeah; the "don't move" line and that long anticipation before they kissed was A-MAZING. I know I got all hot & bothered watching it. 100% this should win best kiss.
  • Ciggy_
I think it would have been better if he would have said "Don't f*c*in move.. sorry.. Bad A$$ Edward is getting to me..ALOT!
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
LMAO!! Yes, he would have been so much hotter with a few curse words thrown in there.... YUMMY!!

    lol
  • crazy4cullens*RollingRockRob
I do love Rob a little dirty so a dirty mouth would go along nicely with my fantasy.
  • Robaholic
Yes!! That would have definitely been frickin HOT!! See that's why we need rated R version of all 4 movies. Forget PG-13!!
  • Robaholic
Oh I was definitely all Hot and Bothered!!!! They deserve to win!!
I just wanted to jump in there and grab him and throw his @$$ on the bed and kiss him myself and then.....ummm well can't say the rest only think it.lol
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
LOL!!! that kiss was hot!! they have to win, i'm not just saying it because of my twi obsession i honestly think it's the best, i couldn't bear it if those turds from high school musical won, it would be hell LMAO!!!
  • Robaholic
I know. There is no way the HSM kiss was better. I will scream and throw my remote at the tv if HSM wins!!lol
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
LOL!! you and me both, i hope twilight win everthing they're up for, especially rob for breakthrough male, he epitomises it, none of the other nominees have had a bigger year than him, and i want to see that kiss recreated on stage so they better win lmao!!!
  • Robaholic
I really hope he wins breakthrough male. He better win. He really deserves it. I will be so sad and mad if he doesn't win.
  • RobCakes
Of course it was the best... Rob was involved. Duh.
  • robfan1st
"[Pattinson] was really wild on the first take — use your imagination.

I had to tell him, 'This is going to be a PG-13 movie!' and have him settle down a little bit," she laughed. "Afterwards, Kristen and I were looking at each other like, 'Whoa!'

LOL, I'd be like "Score!" instead of just a "whoa"...lol Rob, calm down a bit..
  • Don'tDrink&RunWithWoodenStakes
I kinda feel sorry for all the Catherine hate. I agree Twilight had some major mistakes. But I still don't think it was a bad movie. It could surelly be better that's a fact. I got over the missing meadow scene and the rest.
But I just had a feeling that they were rushed, it seems that they were disorganized also. I don't know but I think Catherine Hardwicke is a talented director, but I think she walked in to this genre and she maybe wasn't ready. It is a big movie even if it didn't have a big budget. And it's much more different than indie dramas she did before.
I have a warm spot for her for enthusiasm she had, and I miss that a little now.

And about the kiss, they should so win this!
I remember when I first saw it I was just lost for words. I remember trying to find some bad quality vids on YouTube just to get my fix haha.
I love it, how it's so soft, careful, controled and still you feel the passion. I mean you don't have to see a guy putting his tongue in womans mouth for it to be a good kiss. Those lips grazing is even sixier in my opinion.
I just wonder what are they going to do if they win...that will be interesting haha.
  • yup
i didnt vote for twilight to be the best movie. i voted for slumdog millionaire because it was an incredible film! but twilight DOES deserve to win best kiss and best male breakthrough performance by robert pattinson. if taylor wins it by only saying like 5 lines, i would be pissed off!
  • forevertwilight
why on earth would you vote for slumdog? compared to twilight that wasn't even a film!
WOW! i wouldn't really count yourself a twilight fan.
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
    LMAO!
  • Neoma
Exactly exactly! :D Couldn't agree more! It gives me the goosebumps everytime! (:
  • Jaypat
SM asked CH to tone down the kissing scene, to not give away too much in the movie. Whaatt?! You mean there is more to this kissing scene? For the love of Rob Pattinson, we have to see the entire uncut kissing scene with him falling on the floor, everything!
  • agava CW4BD
that's right! give us Rob falling on the floor!!

love to see how they shot this...
  • Oh man...thought I was first... ya beat me. :)
  • First? Of course the kiss was the best!!! It was so intense, cause he was being so careful not to hurt her, and it was soooo smoldering!
  • ClareB
The kiss was the best cos it's ROB!!!! Nobody cares what u think CH! Urgh, anyone else find her introductions to deleted scenes really irritating on the dvd? She's weird.
  • Edwardluverr
lol I totally agree on the weirdness!
  • Yes! I agree. That one..."Here's another scene from the meadow, because we all know how much you all loved it"... blah, blah...yes, so why wasn't in the movie? I thought most of the scenes they deleted should have been in the film, except the Rob biting Kirsten's finger thing...ewww
  • ClareB
Lol! and the part with victoria and james "i love it when men chase me" then making out and biting each other. I'm glad they skipped that part.

Her introductions made me not want to watch the film, i had to turn off the commantary cos her voice made me want to strangle myself.
  • Yep. That scene just grossed me out! I was like WTH is Victoria doing, and then Laurent was just standing there... wierd.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
    couldn't agree more!
  • snuffiesnoop
She is totally wierd. I hated those intros! And the commentary about the meadow was like "OH dear I forgot to do meadow scenes! so lets just throw it in there real quick cause I know how much you guys will love them......and then she doesn't even include half of them?

    WTF???!!??

Although I'm really glad some of those takes didn't make it. like the one where Bella offers Edward a little taste? uhh...yeah. that was strange. Helloooooo....is Bella his "donor" now? *eye roll*

Anyway, I think the kiss should totally win. *JUMPS UP AND DOWN*
  • robstruck
the kiss in twilight is downright sexy !!

and the kiss in new moon will be the highlight of the movie for sure :D just looking at the pics gives me the thrills :))

the chemistry of rob and kristen will once again rule the world of new moon !!!
  • JTSTeam Swiss
if there is a GOD, Rob & Kristen will re-enact it for us on sunday night!
  • giggsy_girl
    yeah that'd be great :)
  • Ciggy_
Umm..no.. If there is a God Rob and IWANTTOBESPARKLY2 will re-enact it!
  • snuffiesnoop
    Hell Yeah!!!

That would be awesome. Like the notebook kiss. that was great :D
  • Twisessed
    Totally agree with her! :D
  • JoUK
There were a few things I didnt like bout the Twilight film, but I LOVED the kiss!
  • Edwardluverr
OF COURSE IT WAS THE BEST KISS!! I got a pretty good feeling Twilight is taking home all the popcorns =D but then there's that slumdog millionaire who won 8 oscars so idk = /
  • TOTALLY AGREE WITH HER BUT SHE SHOULD HAVE SAID TWO WORDS & THOSE TWO WORDS IS ENOUGH

    ROBERT PATTINSON
  • ItsRobert_Effing_Pattinson
Yes, I think my screen name here pretty much sums up why it should win and why he should win all the other categories he is nominated for as well!! LOL
  • Spunk Ransom "Spunkie"
**pats effing on the back - that's right let it all out!!! **

** joins in on the sticking tongue out **
  • IF HE DOESNT WIN.............

OMG I SWEAR I WILL HUNT EVERYONE WHO DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM & DRINK THEIR BLOOD TILL THERE'S NOTHING LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Grasshopper
Eww.. But point taken! Rob should definitely win, particularly for Breakout Male.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love Taylor (don't hate me! Think, more Rob for you!) but he was in Twilight for a grand total of... *thinking back* four scenes. Rob was the breakout in Twilight. Let's leave Taylor his props for next year after New Moon.
  • jaspers(dont F.. my avi) girl
robert pattinson makes that kiss more desirous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • GiselleMonique
This must have been awkward for the MTV guy to talk about with Catherine.
  • mlj (Team Pea Coat)
The tension in that moment was perfect! Kristen and Rob were so in sync with each other on screen. I get a shiver just thinking about how that feels...
  • AnEclipse
of course twilight kiss is the best of all!
  • forevertwilight
If Rob and Kris don't win that award i will personally go to America into LA to that award show go up to whoever won it slap them silly and then take their MTV award and give it to rob and kristen and then fall dead because i would have just presented Rob with an MTV award :)

but i doubt this plan will happen as they WILL win it :)
  • giggsy_girl
  • forevertwilight
HA! Rob got toooooo carried away with their FIRST kiss! She couldn't even show it to anyone. Cute how Kristen demanded that Rob had to be Edward!
  • nemesis_robward's girl =D
this kiss HAS to win!!!!!!!!! definitely the most hot, sensual, tense, desirable, yumi kiss i ever seen on screen!!!!!!!
  • sabrine
it was the best kiss ever
and I swear to god when I first saw the kiss I started to scream aaaaaaa!!! It was sooo hot hot
  • ObsessiveCullenLover
of course it was the best kiss ever....and catherine hardwicke is absolutley right.
  • Ciggy_
But she is a crappy director..
  • Venia_Cullen
I totally agree with her! :D!!!!!!
  • Briele
  • forevertwilight
That is bull sh*t! seriously that site puts EVERY article up about robert pattinson and most of them are not true.

She will be there, she has tickets and seats reserved she should be heading back tomorrrow i think with Rob
  • Briele
I hope it's BS. It's a big deal that she should be there.
  • Vampgirl(Team Robsten forever)
That better be a rumor because we saw where she was sitting.
  • NaughtyButCute
Ummm, CH invited Rob & Kris to her own bedroom and had them make out? Does that scream perv to anyone else? Gross!! I'm not saying I wouldn't love to see Rob make out with anyone but Kris was under age at the time.
  • Robaholic
I just wanted to share this radio interview Rob did with everyone. He is soooo frickin cute and adorable and sounds so damn sexy!! Wait until you get to about 21 minutes in. I listened to that part over and over again and wished he was saying it to me.. You will know which part I mean when you hear it!! He is soooo hot!!

    http://z100.elvisduran.com/cc-common/mediaplaye...
  • agava CW4BD
iI've heard that one before it's awesome! Definitely my favourite from his audio interviews:) I usually put it on my earphones when i do something on the computer LoL

    love his voice...so sexy...
  • IHowl2 - The ONLY Samske Girl
Would I get hit by anyone if I say "Yeah yeah these guys know" & if I roll my eye??
  • i remember watching the kiss scene and my hubby was watching the movie with me.
i know it was hot b/c ive been w/ him for A LONG time and i dont get embarressed about ANYTHING infront of him but my cheeks were doin' a major bella when that part came on. I had to go back and watch it again all by me onesy. haha. :)

    best kiss hands down!!
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
erm.. is the room they're in inside Catherine's house? Is he living modestly?

If that is her house- and she knew she was going to be on TV- couldn't she at least fix the broken blinds? I don't have the salary of the Director of Twilight- but my place looks SO much better than what that little room portrays her house to be. LOL.

Let's hope I read something wrong, and they are just in some low budget room.
  • SAndie
    I don't like her.
  • NastyaKireeva
I totally agree with Demirjian (Is it man or woman?)... =)
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
Dude, the kiss was hot. It made me tingle... not a lot of big screen kisses do that for me lately.
  • robfan1st
lol i watched the movie with my cousin on my laptop, i downloaded it off some site, the picture was really clear...ANYWAY, after the kiss was done my cousin made me rewind it back and slow it down (you can do that on RealPlayer) and we dissected Rob's every action in that scm back out and she was still watching it! LOL
  • Helpless_Delicious
I totally agree with you!!! there all so forced and whatever.... i pause it right before their lips touch!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! im going home and watching it...on second thought i'll watch it right now on my ipod!!!!!
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
LMAO! :) I watched it a few times earlier after posting this. Can't even begin to imagine what the kisses in New Moon will do for us! Or... to us! :)
  • Helpless_Delicious
I'm dreading the breakup scene... Like bella that's a dark and unspeakable time... My reaction in the book scared the $#!t out of my hubby... We were traveling...he had to pull the car over because I was crying hysterically! Poor thing he had no clue, didn't know what to make of it! Hahahaha
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
LOL! Yeah, when I cry during books, my husband just walks away, he can't handle it. I balled my eyes out during the break up. I need to prepare myself and not wear make up when we see it, I will be needing some tissues & paper bag too, so my breathing can come back down to normal after wards... UGH!
  • Okay. The kiss deserves to win.
    Yes, I voted for it.
    But...
(Yes, there is always a but)
It took like 21 freaking seconds for them to actually kiss! Seriously, if you have the DVD, play it to that scene, and just count how LONG it takes them.
Me and my friends were just like: "Right. 1...2...3... [later] 18...19...20...
  • Nina ♡ The Twilight Saga
That's the beauty of it!! =P
  • agava CW4BD
    Absolutely agree with you!
  • forevertwilight
it's supposed to be like that, he is thinking he could kill her if he looses his control. I liked the time limit of the kiss, i thought it was perfect, it just showed how much they loved each other, because they wanted to be careful with what they were doing and he didnt want to kill her.
  • FL95 (Team Unicorn)
Obsessive - that's what makes it so danged HOT! You are sitting there going "JUMP HIS BONES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!"... I was dying... and when their lips touched.... OMFG!
  • 4thewolf
    LOL.
I'm so with you on this one, flplmtree.
  • Yeah, I know ~ I just found it funny. But you are SO right, when their lips DID touch, I was just like: "OHH. MY. GOD!"
And the 21 seconds were necessary anyway, seeing as Edward wants to be really careful and make sure he doesn't lose control.
I'm glad they added that bit when Edward jumps away and mutters "Stop it!" to himself.
  • yuriinsane
omg i love this kiss the best i have seen and most dramatic
  • kristine8
I don't know how many times I've replayed the kissing scene, but it still gets me all hot and bothered every time I watch it.
I still wish every time when they lay back on the bed that he would just stay on the damn bed already and KEEP GOING !

    *sigh*
  • twilight better win best kiss or mtv better watch out with about a billion twilight fans going there with pitch forks and fire...... lol .........hahahahahahhahahahah :D i am a little devil arent i hahahahhaha
  • obsessivecullendisorder
uhh cannot be viewed outside the US? grrrrrr.
  • Oh, don't worry. It's only Catherine Hardwicke going "Wouldn't you love a hot vampire to say 'Don't move' to you? Wouldn't you love it?"
    Over and over again.
But that's weird anyway, I'm outside the US and I can still view it. Hmmmm...
  • teamtwi
the best thing that happened to twilight was hardwicke deciding she couldn't do the rest of the movies. She completely and utterly DESTROYED the meadow scene. that was my favourite bit of the book but my least favourite of the movie
  • Marianne
I too hope twilight wins for Best kiss, one of the best parts of the movie. The Prom scene was good too ; but too much else was left out. There was a part in the Book after the night in Port Angeles when they went back to school and Jessica drags as much info. out of Bella about the night before with Edward. That's when Edward listens in on the conversation with Jess & Bella and Bella admits she likes him more than he likes her. So much of those great scenes that showed the development of their relationship were left out. Did we really need to go to the greenhouse? I think they were flying by the seat of their pants a lot in Twilight and making up dialog as they went along. Also poor editing. Oh well, New Moon will be better.
  • TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI
OME THAT kiss has to win!!! C'mon.... High School Musical? With Barbie boy? PLEASE!!! Like Catherine said... those kisses have NOTHING on Bella's and Edward's kiss!!! It was so awesome... I was so jealous of Kristen there... man!!! They deserve to win for that... I can't wait to see the results...woohoo!! It was so dramatic... waiting for Edward to give in... slowly and saying "don't move" *sigh* THAT has to definitely win!!!!
  • Broken_Ghost
    That was a great kiss..
I love watching the kissing part in Twilight, I love High School Musical but I want the Twilight kiss to win over all of them..
    Nothing can beat that kiss

oh and I would have Rob come in my room anyday and say 'I wanna try something, don't move'
  • Twilight5925
I agree with all of those that say Catherined sucked.
I HATE CATHERINE HARDWICKE!!! She is the worst female director. In my personal opinion all female directors are horrible at directing movies. I do not know of one who is good. Male directors are the best. CHRIS WEITZ IS THE BEST!! I LOVE HIM! his great at directing.
I'm apologize to those who don't feel the same, sorry. :-)
  • unicorn glow(vampire_vixen)
i agree..she sucked..i like her as a person; she seems cool..but i have seen a lot of independent films with little budgets and they turn out great....slumdog millionaire; boys dont cry; the cake eaters; speak; into the wild; in Gods country; to name a few..i forgot most of them..anywayz; it's all in the directing...if u have a low budget; but a good director and a good script; the movie is going to kick azz..if the movie had a huge budget; i think it woulda still sucked...it's definately not the worst movie; i give it a B-; but it does not do the book justice....

most of these low budget films; the actors and actresses make a lot of sacrifices; and get paid less; but they deliver...so if the director is bad; and the script is bad; the movie is going to suck because even if the actor is good; he/she has to listen to the director at how they want the scene potrayed...
  • Chyril
I'm disappointed in some comments... I think Catherine did a great job.. considering she was only given a small budget compared to Chris.. I'm sure he's good too.. but I'll save my judgements until after I see the movie.. Sure Catherine could have done a few things different..but she didn't have the funds nor the time.. I wonder what Stephenie Myer thinks... Regardless if Rob and Kristen don't win the kiss.. something is very wrong in Hollywood..
  • Rikku
    I agree with you, totally.
  • The Twilight kiss should so totally win, HANDS DOWN! I mean, you can see all the mental/emotional stuff: his passion, his desire, and the restrain, all physical/visually! And its true love, not some high school crush like HSM. It's the first kiss between Edward and Bella, it's simply the best!
  • 30yearoldtwifan "Team Slade"
Check this out You can dress up a naked Rob! LMAO
