Nah, it wasn't in the book, I guess it was just some visual thing for the movie, to make them belong together.
Carlisle is wearing a ring, Rose and Alice a necklace, and the boys are wearing some kind of leather bracelett.
The crest itself doesn't have a bigger meaning though, it's a lion on a banner or something like that. I think they couldn't think of a symbol to represent the Cullens history so they just took the lion as a reference to this whole lion and lamb metaphor... maybe. I don't know.
But you definitely CAN'T miss it when you watch the movie.

b, this is like the big mystery of New Moon, Jacob's look. I mean he'll obviously look very different from Twilight and this is where he gets introduced as the "alternate love interest" in contrast to the little friend in Twilight, so he has to look all manly and hunky... we know what Bella looks like and we know what Edward looks like, no changes there, but Jacob is like the easter egg of New Moon.
The Volturis should be interesting too, but they're not as important as the three main characters, so Jake's going to be the biggest "revelation", sort of. At least that's what I think...
But I'd be happy with ANYTHING, I kind of already made my peace with the fact his pictures will come out last.

Good way to look at it. Jacob is the one that won my heart, once I read New Moon, there was no one else. In the fantasy world that is. My husband is still #1 in the real world, you know, here in La Push.
